Have been three or four times for a drink while our EV charges for an hour at the IONITY chargers just opposite. Each time, staff have been pretty unwelcoming (I get the impression they are uninterested if you don’t want to eat there, even though there are always loads of free tables). I won’t go back during future charges. As for the requirement to register your number plate if you are parking in the car park, we have always noticed the signboard warning customers to do so in front of the door, so I am surprised the last reviewer didn’t spot it. However, given that the restaurant is in the middle of nowhere (no pedestrian access to anything else, really, apart perhaps from the Travelodge next door, which probably has its own parking), it seems both mean and tight to enforce fines. All in all, a place with bad vibes.

Updated: Lovely place spoilt by continually bad organisation and training of staff. Management of this place need to seriously take a look at themselves. Lovely old building in peaceful green space, ideal for a drink and bite to eat whether sat outside in the sunshine or tucked up in the cosy space inside in the winter. There are a few annoyances though. The bar staff are frequently very inexperienced and on busy evenings not enough of them and you will queue out the door. Some of the food, like the burgers, are tasty and great value for money, many other dishes are small and over priced.

I quite like the Dead Pigeon, so wanted to give this second venue from the same team a go - the venue used to be Barclays Bank, opposite the Cricketers pub in Rainham. Inside, I think I was expecting something a bit more quaint and pub-like, but the ambience was very much more like office space, all of which had been painted black and then had tables and a bar added - I suppose it did use to be a bank, so this makes sense, but was a surprise. There are lots of large screens in here showing sport. Good atmosphere overall. It works. The bar offers a good choice of beers - had a Hacker-Pschorr, which I haven’t had anywhere since I drank it in Bristol in 2019 (aboard Spyglass) - a decent choice. The food is the star of the show here - big burgers, loaded fries, onion rings, chicken tenders and the like. Very instagramable and extremely scrannable. We ordered a sharing platter - two lots of tenders, onion rings and loaded fries. This was loads of food, all of it gorgeous - one lot of tenders was garlic and the other buffalo. Decent chips as well and gorgeous onion rings. I love onion rings. Big and fluffy, but not too fluffy. Just right. The tenders were big, juicy and moist. I think next time I go I’ll try plain tenders and have a couple of the hot dips - the gravy and hot naga cheese were absolutely superb, but they didn’t go that well with buffalo.. 😃 The burgers here look good - they do a tray where you have tenders, burgers, chips etc, but I think that’s too much for me. I’ll come back and try and burger though. Overall, good place for a meal - definitely recommended and worthy. You won’t get a better burger or tenders in Rainham, that’s for certain.

A typical local pub in the back streets and serving a range of typical pub foods. The appearance inside and outside is not prepossessing, but the attraction of the pub is well cooked and good value food. We had the sea bass. Two well cooked, thick fillets and masses of sautéed vegetables, accompanied by a large dish of thick cut, well cooked chips Worth a visit for the food

A beautiful evening with my two teen boys. The service was perfect so a huge thank you to the staff on shift (30.5.25 around 19:30). The food was delicious and from start to finish - I cannot fault this restaurant. If you are in the area, I highly recommend a visit.

The food was good value for money. The service we received from Caitlin though was fantastic and refreshing to see someone serving with a smile on their face and happy to help. We had an issue with our order and she sorted it out with no trouble at all! She is a credit to Harvester!
