These people know their meat! There was a great live music on the day dad really completed the atmosphere.

Driven past this place for years and finally popped in. Was pleasantly surprised - a great genuine American restaurant experience. Good food, great service, great for kids.

Atmosphere was good for the kids, the guy service us tried bless him but it was one cock after another with food coming out wrong / stuff missing / burger bun roasted so much it looked like it had been spat out of the gates of hell and was more carbon than bread. Usually it is good but the last visit was not great sorry to say.

Superb western themed restaurant, stumbled across it on our way south and loved it, service was great, very tasty american style food with a good selection and good kids menu 👍

We were driving and just stopped for a lunch. Visited for the first time and had an amazing experience. Very friendly waiter. Delicious food (especially the wings). Having facilities for changing the baby. When we’ll go that way again definitely will stop

Really great waitress, all of the order was right for a large group. We arrived late in the evening and everything was still available. Perfectly cooked steak, delicious sides and one of few places that give free refills on soft drinks!

We had a really nice lunch at this large, friendly venue. The staff were lovely and very helpful. There were very elderly people in our group for whom the background music was obtrusively loud. I was told only only head office could change the music level which seemed completely ridiculous! I don't have hearing problems but still found it almost so loud it was interfering with conversation. The food was good and freshly prepared.

Great choice for all the family. Love the theme of the resturant. Great menu and delicious food, although I'm not a fan of paper under my food as it goes soggy and then ends up as part of your meal, which isn't pleasant. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Music was a touch too loud for us, it made it difficult to converse.

Don't know if this Sunday was typical, or if they had a problem. Burgers were not up to their previous standard, it was bar service only, despite an abundance of staff wandering around and looking busy. Tables were not being cleared and the final straw was a delivery cage being noisily pushed through the restaurant during service, so maybe there was no manager on duty to guide staff.

I’ve always enjoyed coming here for the quality of food but yesterday was disappointing - the burgers were very average and portions smaller than previously. Maybe they’re using lower quality burgers now but the price is still relatively high for what you get.

Great evening with live music, delicious food, super company in a cool themed restaurant. Great staff, very polite efficient and friendly. Food came quite quickly too.

American smokehouse restaurant,family owned with several other branches in the Southeast. A great western theme throughout with servers dressed in cowboy / Cowgirl uniforms, country music playing etc. The menu is filled with smokehouse BBQ classics like low n' slow smoked brisket and ribs plus mexican fajitas,chilli and burritos as well as great nacho sharers, Mac n' cheese and a range of steaks. There's also great American style thick shakes and some great desserts too! I had nachos to start with added chipotle chicken, they were loaded with nacho cheese and melted cheese with red chillis and jalapenos and served with a side of salsa,sour cream and guacamole, just delicious and gooey and served in a hot skillet. For main I had chicken fajitas which came to the table all sizzling with 5 tortillas and everything needed in the way of sides. The peppers,onions and mini corn were beautifully caramelised by the juices and spices from the chicken. Portions are generous so I couldn't manage pudding but that just gives me an excuse to return. Oh, I forgot to mention, they have a great range of burgers too! Veggie options are available. Drinks wise, there is a wide range available including cocktails which are different from the norm, not cheap but they do have a happy hour. The restaurant is large with various different areas plus on a pleasant day there is a covered outside area. They have occasion live music and this is country themed too! My nacho starter which was really a sharer, the fajita main and unlimited soda came in at about £37. I really shouldn't have had all those nachos as they're too big for one person as starter but they were just so good, I brought some of my fajita dish home with me. I must give a shout out to the server, she is called Grace and was very attentive,friendly and had a good knowledge of the menu,checked back and also had a good knowledge about the company.

Friendly staff, great atmosphere for the kids, but the food is horrendously over price for what you get. Mine came out cold but couldn't be bothered to return it. I will do my hardest to avoid visiting here again.

Met up with some family on the way back from Brighton . The service is good with friendly staff . A very good choice of menu and the quality of the food was very good . Lots of parking too.

had one of the best experiences i’ve had in a restaurant, so glad we drove the extra mile to come. first of it was my first mother’s day and i honestly had the best time, atmosphere was so calm and enjoyable and the staff were so friendly. made me feel right at home. all the staff had smiles on their faces and make it very welcoming place! not to mention the food was amazing!!! the staff made an effort to come over and engage with me son who is only 6 months old, offered him balloons, cowboy hats and compliments. want to thank sam for being a lovely, cheerful humanist being and bringing life to every table. thank you so much for making my first mother’s day special! & at the end even receiving a mother day gift 💜.

Lovely waitress,really helpful but other staff members slow service. 3 out of the 9 meals were good but the rest either the meat was tough or the meal was altogether cold

Very nice atmosphere, the server was excellent extremely knowledgeable and welling to find out any queries directly from the chefs. The food itself was more that okey a little light on the portion size but well presented and tasty. Drinks are reasonably price. We went for lunch, I would happily revisit Smith and Western for dinner.

Another great visit. Service was good and food was tasty and plentiful. Children’s choice of 3 sized meals is a brilliant idea and they now have an added gluten free menu selection for kids. 5* just for that! And then the live music started! So unexpected and of fantastic quality.

Great themed restaurant. Good was good for price. Service needed some work. Waited around 20mins for someone to take our drink order. The place wasn't busy. Karaoke was awful and ruined the atmosphere.

I was so disappointed. The portions were tiny compared for the cost, and the quality was low. My ribs were tiny and burned. My milkshake was literally nesquick with whippy on top. I would not go again.

We had a lovely valentines meal here, staff were great and were very attentive to our needs! The food was delicious and even grabbed myself a cheeky valentines cocktail too!

Came to this restaurant for valentines, once seated it took half an hour to ask if we would like any drinks. Half way through starters they came over and asked if we would like any drinks, I asked for a Coke Zero and it took them 20 minutes for the drink, waited ages for our mains and a while for the bill, the bill was wrong two times, overcharged by over £20. I then spoke to the manager and we got it resolved, the staff was lovely and the food was amazing however the low scores are due to the service. I understand it was busy however peoples orders were being sent to the wrong tables.

We had a meal at this establishment tonight and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was great, food was gorgeous, atmosphere was superb and the decor was done really well. First class.

Our first visit and we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was great and we loved the enthusiasm of all the staff. Food was delicious and the portions were huge, although I did feel the cocktails were a little overpriced for what they were. The service was slow seeing as it wasn’t that busy, but the staff did apologise for this and it wasn’t a big deal for us.

This place is 5 star and affordable for families. The food is good portions and the kids always leave smiling. Very happy and we will return

We go to this smith and western regularly for family outings and it's always great. Everyone can find something they like. There's a great kids menu. Service is always friendly. It's a great family place.

Food is ok. We asked for the music to be turned down a couple of times. Not many other people dinning.

Not the best visit to be honest compared to the past. Food was ok but we waited a long time for mains. Live music which was nice but loud as you'd expect so difficult to talk. Sodas with free refills were flat so that is something that needs addressing.

Brilliant country and western song duo, great atmosphere, friendly staff. Meat dishes good but veggie option (burger) was tiny - probably 3 inches across - rather disappointing. What was there of it tasted good though.

Myself ,Daughter and 2 grandchildren were there on Monday 30th dec 24 and we were really looked after by our waiter, who is sadly leaving on the 10th of jan. He was very kind and chatty to my grandchildren and the decorations were outstanding.. Teddy and Toots both sat on the saddles at the bar as we wanted to take pics and the barman kindly asked Ted if he wanted to wear his cowboy hat for the picture.. which he did.. it's a lovely not over crowded with tables that U can get in some places to get maximum customers conveyer belting people in and out as quickly as poss... No Lingfield Smith and Western has been a family favourite for the last 15 years and we used to bust once a week back then for a good few years.. so they are worth travelling to as the staff are an excellent Team and everyone knows what they need to do and it works brilliantly... Thank you For a lovely lunch and we will be coming for my Boys 9th birthday end of January. And I love the way you all make a real fuss over the. Birthday event .... Can't wait to see you all soon 👍🤠🥳

To start , I have been to this particular S & W in Lingfield many many times. We’ve always had a pleasant time, sometimes the service can be a little bit slow but if you’re not in a hurry that’s not a problem, but this week we went to celebrate my adult daughters birthday - it was pretty atrocious. The wait for our drinks was nearly 30 minutes when we arrived! Our waitress, who has served us on previous visits, was her usual polite chatty self but seemed a little stressed by other factors, ie kitchen/bar wait time for her orders. When my starter, potato skins, arrived it was very small (apparently they have changed this option since our previous visit ) and overdone. The other potato skins order on our table was the same but the other starters seemed acceptable. My son and I had steak and they were both ridiculously chewy and stringy. The ‘salad’ served with mine was warm and wilted , which the waitress explained was because it was left under the heat lamp until she had time to collect it and bring to our table. It was replaced with a bitter tasting iceberg lettuce ‘salad’, well, it was lettuce and half a small tomato! The mash potato portion was embarrassing! It was less than I would give a two year old! Again, the waitress did what she could and she did bring another microwaved portion. My order of avocado never arrived at all! Meanwhile the drinks orders were still painfully slow with my husband having to go and find staff twice to enquire where it was. At the end of the meal we were told NHS blue light card was no longer acceptable as they have stopped taking it. All in all probably the worst S & W meal we’ve EVER had. Our waitress did, to be fair, give us some money off because of the shoddy service and food and it has to be said I dont think she, personally, could of done much more - I just think the kitchen/bar staff let her down badly and by the time we left there was literally only about 15 other customers in there so it can’t be blamed on numbers. A real shame , particularly as it was a special birthday celebration.

Just the worst experience. Our server didn’t have a clue what they were doing, got our drinks and food wrong….. spoke to the manager, as I thought that would be helpful… Brandon I believe his name was. He was so rude to us, wouldn’t look us in the eye, just said we had to get on with it. We got a full refund in the end. But I will never be returning, which is a shame as it’s my favourite restaurant.

Me and my other half visit the restaurant if we are in the local area and we get the same fantastic service every time. It’s a great half way point for our family to meet up for my daughters birthday in the week of Christmas and we are so happy we made the decision to visit again this year. We were a table of 11 and Scott our waiter made sure everything about our experience was flawless. Half of our party were a little delayed, we were still served drinks before they arrived. Scott then quickly returned when the rest of our guests arrived to take their drinks order and the food order. There was nothing he didn’t think of to make our visit as seamless as possible, he truly went the extra mile and it was very much appreciated. Everything was 5*, the table, service, atmosphere, quality of food, time it took to serve the food. We will continue to return every year. Thank you S&W team for making our daughter’s birthday so special.

I've been here quite a few times. This is the second time we've had a bad experience. My brother had a burger. It was raw in quite a few places. They did replace it. I had the 5 bean chilly. It used to have cornbread on the side but now has corn chips. They were dry & the food was only just warm. We both had a hot drink. If you could call it hot. Plus the cup/mug wasn't even full. We have both decided we won't be coming back

We had a fantastic birthday meal. The food was very nice indeed, but it was the fantastic staff who made our visit memorable, from the minute we arrived to the very end, especially for my mum whose birthday it was and received a very unexpected surprise.

Had a lovely meal after being at the races, Holly our waitress was first class, very attentive and professional.

The food as always was good. However our server was Tom, on his second only shift! He made the experience and the dinner great and couldn't do enough to help. With 12 of us there a large party is always a challenge but he handled it very well especially with the smaller children being occasional trip hazards. Pity you can't ask for a specific server because if we could, we would.

Good atmosphere good service staff are great but the food is sub standard the starters where good but nothing to brag about the mains where where poor sirloin stakes 3 of us had and where all poor and had no flavor and was real tough for medium rare cooked. For the price for 3 adults and a child I would expect far better quality of meat to be used. Shame really

I had a recent birthday at Smith & Western and it was a birthday week to remember. We usually visit this restaurant twice a week. This particular week I had one day with my husband then we visited again on the Friday with one of my closest friends and my stepdaughter. On my birthday the staff were no exception. Our food was lovely and to top it off the staff brought my desert out with a big sparkly thing in it and there was clanging as Calvin, Brandon, Tom, Dave and the management team who were all in from other restaurants for a meeting all sang happy birthday to me. I felt so special. On the Friday our amazing Scott really pulled out all the stops and really added to my birthday week. I am not sure how he remembers the many different dishes we ordered. He just seems to take it all in his stride as he looks after us. Nothing ever seems to be too much and he caters for all our dietary requirements and is as accommodating as he can be as he liaises with the kitchen staff, they comprise of Head Chef Tom, His Sous Chef also named Tom and their team. They do an excellent job and the food helps us to come back time after time. I have to say a big thank you to Shelley. She added to my birthday memories and she is easy to talk to and her team at this restaurant are a credit to her. I highly recommend this restaurant and you will really feel looked after.

We had an amazing meal for our anniversary in Lingfield (with the rest of the family). Emma absolutely stole the show in our eyes, friendly beyond words - you can tell she loves her job! Her attention to detail was incredible and her menu knowledge was amazing, she was able to help us make decisions and give us some mind making information to which we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. With the children in tow she made it one to remember and we will definitely be returning so please don’t go anywhere!! On the night we had to express how we felt to the manager on shift, who didn’t seem that surprised by our comments, so presuming you may hear this from others. Thank you for the delicious food and thank you again to Emma who made it a night we will never forget!

Food was great (but I wish the string bowel thing was taken out of the prawns… I’m always a little picky about that 1 thing lol) apart from that, absolutely amazing :D we will be returning! Great place! We stopped today for lunch after visiting Hever Castle. Food was tasty, atmosphere was really good and service 10/10. Halloween decorations were pretty good and my kid was very entertained with the Halloween interactive puzzle. Highly recommended!

Booked last minute and although the restaurant was packed with people, this didn’t reflect on the service given. The member of the team serving our table was friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stress free time and that’s not easy when you also bring along an 18 month old 😁🍔🥔

Fast, tasty and refillable soda, what could go wrong! Kids loved the saddles on the seat at the bar. Birthday bell ringing was a bit loud for my son who is sensitive to noises.

Food was good but the best part about this place is the smiling, helpful and happy staff. Every one of them made an atmosphere that you'd want to be part of and we all had a great time. Whoever chooses the staff has done a superb job.

Fab lunch, had The New Yorker over the sound of C&W music, and it was brilliant. Definitely recommend for those who want a taste of America.

Great menu, plenty of vegetarian options too . Food took a while to come but it wasn’t busy, but we were talking and so time passed by. Food was hot and well cooked . My only negative comment is that the music was very loud, we moved from table as we couldn’t hear ourselves to talk.

As an American, I was pleasantly surprised. This was better than I expected. The burgers were large and legit, service was also fast and attentive. Fajitas were decent, but not my favorite (they put hot peppers in, not customary for U.S TexMex food). Overall, worth a stop.

I would like to say how impressed I am with the service my husband and I always receive at this restaurant. The main person who looks after us is Scott. He is friendly, professional and nothing seems too much for him. I never know how he can memorise our orders as well as many others that he looks after. I cannot thank him enough for how he makes us feel so welcome. I also want to thank Ali and Romina, they look after us so well whenever Scott is not in. They are wonderful young women. I also want to thank the kitchen staff headed up by Tom and his Soux Chef also named Tom. Our meals always keep us coming back. All this is headed up by Calvin and Brandon who do a great job overseeing the team. So overall you can tell how much we like this restaurant and we visit twice a week. Thank you all collectively and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

Delicious food, great selection and perfect meal for my boyfriend's birthday. He had the Grand Canyon burger, I had the Texan Pepper Jack and both were delicious with a side of chips each and some macaroni cheese. I also pre-ordered the Birthday Belly Buster for my boyfriend which includes singing and an enormous sundae dessert which was hilarious! The cocktails are delicious! We'd never heard of the Smith and Western chain before but spotted it on our trip down for the weekend. Not disappointed at all!

As an American, this place will always be funny to me. The over the top theming is hilarious. The wait staff are all in bollo ties and cowboy hats. The food is alright. Over the top, like much of American food. It's good for a meal once in awhile!

Apparently there are many people complaining the music here is too loud...I would agree with that. I took a dislike to our waitress from the second I met her. We waited at the entrance to be seated and she couldn't even raise a smile or say hello...just "how many of you are there?" ...Miserable from start to finish...this resulted in her getting a £8 tip instead of a £23 tip. Specified at time of booking this was for a birthday...no acknowledgement made of it. Wouldn't go back.

17 of us enjoyed a Saturday afternoon meal, good service, great food. Only issue I didn't check bill charged 1 meal to many 😢 otherwise cracking place.
