Smith And Western - Lingfield in Tandridge

The food as always was good. However our server was Tom, on his second only shift! He made the experience and the dinner great and couldn't do enough to help. With 12 of us there a large party is always a challenge but he handled it very well especially with the smaller children being occasional trip hazards. Pity you can't ask for a specific server because if we could, we would.

I had a recent birthday at Smith & Western and it was a birthday week to remember. We usually visit this restaurant twice a week. This particular week I had one day with my husband then we visited again on the Friday with one of my closest friends and my stepdaughter. On my birthday the staff were no exception. Our food was lovely and to top it off the staff brought my desert out with a big sparkly thing in it and there was clanging as Calvin, Brandon, Tom, Dave and the management team who were all in from other restaurants for a meeting all sang happy birthday to me. I felt so special. On the Friday our amazing Scott really pulled out all the stops and really added to my birthday week. I am not sure how he remembers the many different dishes we ordered. He just seems to take it all in his stride as he looks after us. Nothing ever seems to be too much and he caters for all our dietary requirements and is as accommodating as he can be as he liaises with the kitchen staff, they comprise of Head Chef Tom, His Sous Chef also named Tom and their team. They do an excellent job and the food helps us to come back time after time. I have to say a big thank you to Shelley. She added to my birthday memories and she is easy to talk to and her team at this restaurant are a credit to her. I highly recommend this restaurant and you will really feel looked after.

We had an amazing meal for our anniversary in Lingfield (with the rest of the family). Emma absolutely stole the show in our eyes, friendly beyond words - you can tell she loves her job! Her attention to detail was incredible and her menu knowledge was amazing, she was able to help us make decisions and give us some mind making information to which we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. With the children in tow she made it one to remember and we will definitely be returning so please don’t go anywhere!! On the night we had to express how we felt to the manager on shift, who didn’t seem that surprised by our comments, so presuming you may hear this from others. Thank you for the delicious food and thank you again to Emma who made it a night we will never forget!

Booked last minute and although the restaurant was packed with people, this didn’t reflect on the service given. The member of the team serving our table was friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stress free time and that’s not easy when you also bring along an 18 month old 😁🍔🥔

Fast, tasty and refillable soda, what could go wrong! Kids loved the saddles on the seat at the bar. Birthday bell ringing was a bit loud for my son who is sensitive to noises.

If you're looking to have an American countryside feel, here's your place. The server was nice, food was good, music was great

Was nice, shame they gave me a bill of £490 first with a message on receipt that service charge included for tables over 10. Then next bill was another £60 Ridiculous !

The wait for our order to be taken was a little longer than usual and the food took forever to come. Food is lovely but was terribly slow service

Lovely place to celebrate a birthday. That Friday they had great live music and the service was consistently awesome. Very happy to tip and post.

Great menu, plenty of vegetarian options too . Food took a while to come but it wasn’t busy, but we were talking and so time passed by. Food was hot and well cooked . My only negative comment is that the music was very loud, we moved from table as we couldn’t hear ourselves to talk.

As an American, I was pleasantly surprised. This was better than I expected. The burgers were large and legit, service was also fast and attentive. Fajitas were decent, but not my favorite (they put hot peppers in, not customary for U.S TexMex food). Overall, worth a stop.

Much quieter and bigger than the Tilgate one. Impeccable service, very clean facilities, toilets spotless.

I would like to say how impressed I am with the service my husband and I always receive at this restaurant. The main person who looks after us is Scott. He is friendly, professional and nothing seems too much for him. I never know how he can memorise our orders as well as many others that he looks after. I cannot thank him enough for how he makes us feel so welcome. I also want to thank Ali and Romina, they look after us so well whenever Scott is not in. They are wonderful young women. I also want to thank the kitchen staff headed up by Tom and his Soux Chef also named Tom. Our meals always keep us coming back. All this is headed up by Calvin and Brandon who do a great job overseeing the team. So overall you can tell how much we like this restaurant and we visit twice a week. Thank you all collectively and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

Delicious food, great selection and perfect meal for my boyfriend's birthday. He had the Grand Canyon burger, I had the Texan Pepper Jack and both were delicious with a side of chips each and some macaroni cheese. I also pre-ordered the Birthday Belly Buster for my boyfriend which includes singing and an enormous sundae dessert which was hilarious! The cocktails are delicious! We'd never heard of the Smith and Western chain before but spotted it on our trip down for the weekend. Not disappointed at all!

As an American, this place will always be funny to me. The over the top theming is hilarious. The wait staff are all in bollo ties and cowboy hats. The food is alright. Over the top, like much of American food. It's good for a meal once in awhile!

Apparently there are many people complaining the music here is too loud...I would agree with that. I took a dislike to our waitress from the second I met her. We waited at the entrance to be seated and she couldn't even raise a smile or say hello...just "how many of you are there?" ...Miserable from start to finish...this resulted in her getting a £8 tip instead of a £23 tip. Specified at time of booking this was for a birthday...no acknowledgement made of it. Wouldn't go back.

17 of us enjoyed a Saturday afternoon meal, good service, great food. Only issue I didn't check bill charged 1 meal to many 😢 otherwise cracking place.

Food was great, service was ok but our server spent more time chatting to other staff than doing any serving. Asked for something to come out as a starter it came with the mains. Unlimited pop but you refill yourself Started trying to clear the table while people were still finishing food and then they add a 12.5% service charge

I’ve been to this restaurant several times times since I moved to the area, 3 years ago. It’s a crowd pleaser for a family dining experience, it never disappoints. The staff are always friendly, enthusiastic and polite. Even when they are singing happy birthday for the 5th time in a shift! The food is what you’d hope for in an American style diner. I’d recommend the sharing nachos but be warned, they are big! I feel it’s a great family restaurant with a varied menu that covers all dietary requirements. The cocktails are great. The atmosphere relaxed and easy. If you can save room for a dessert, they wont disappoint. Thank you for another great family dinner. We will be back :-)

Lovely pub on the way from airport parking. Quick service and delicious food. Quirky decor and outside seating available too. Would definitely recommend to stop by. One star down for cleanliness, needs some dusting.

What a rare experience to have great food and great service all in one. The kiddos truly enjoyed their experience and the adults had a great time as well. Plenty of options for the kids and great drinks if you need one.

I’ve recently moved into the area and have visited this restaurant probably three or four times now. The staff are always cheerful, helpful and efficient. The food arrives in a timely manner regardless of how busy the restaurant is on the occasions I’ve been. I’ve only had a limited amount of food from the menu, but it looks like there would be something for everyone. What I have had has been tasty and well cooked and presented. My one and only criticism is, do you really need to put a sheet of paper under the ribs and wings combo? Each time I’ve had this dish the paper under the coleslaw disintegrates and I end up chewing on some. Apart from possibly making it a little easier to wash the plate it’s just a bit of useless garnish.

We were a group of 11 celebrating an 18th birthday. Service was soooi slow. Very nice waitress explained they were short staffed. Really? On a Saturday?? Drinks took 30 mins and after just under two hours our food finally arrived. More apologies were forthcoming and we were asked if we wanted more drinks. I suggested that a complimentary drink would be a nice gesture but it wasn’t forthcoming. We were offered a free desert to share. All ok but won’t be returning as it’s just too chaotic and slow

I found this gem completely by accident me and my daughter were hungry whilst we're out on a drive we went in on the off chance that they may have a seat we didn't make reservations even though they were very busy they found a place to see us food was amazing staff was amazing will definitely plan to visit again I definitely suggest you visit yourself and make up your own mind I believe you won't be disappointed

Just had a fabulous father's day meal here. It's was ram packed when we arrived and for good reason too. Lovely building, wild west theme and gorgeous menu. Not the cheapest place on earth, so we figured the best thing to do was share two buffalo platters amongst the four of us (two person per platter). This came with a full rack of ribs in two halves, four chicken wings, four battered prawns four onion rings, two sweetcorn cobettes, two mugs of chips, a bowl of beans amd another of coleslaw, a bbq flavoured dip, a sweet chilli dip and a garnish of lettuce. Two of these provided each of us with a monster of a meal. Every piece of this was cooked too perfection despite there being a a full house. There was not a weakness to this meal, every bite was mouthwatwringly delicious. Even the beans and coleslaw were phenomenal This chain doesn't exist in our home region (please bring one to the Isle of Thanet!) so until then I shall most definitely be making a road trip to try some more. One last thing, because it was father's day, as a treat the four of us shared a guy busted dessert, the perfect compliment to our dinner. 2x sharer platters 3x coctktails 1x milkshake 2 x beers 1x gut buster dessert 12.5% service charge (not compulsory) Total of £160.. Worth it: 100% Come again: 100% Cheers too to Olly/Oli our waiter.

A fantastic establishment. The service, atmosphere, and food are all amazing. The building is an old bakery and the decor speaks it. Right off the bat the welcome and attention you get feels welcoming and warm. The menu is well explained and any questions are answered promptly. The place is popular for hosting birthdays and other parties. I go there regularly and I'm yet to see a day with no birthdays. The food is great, the bottomless drinks add to experience as well as the portions are fairly hearty. I highly recommend the Rancher's feast as it has all you need for a good meal for the price. It is more than enough for 2 people. The biggest con, and my and many other's personal grudge is that they have over the years cha ged the Rachel's Feast and have removed curly fries and stuffed jalapeños from it and replaced them with onion rings and regular fries which is a massive mood killer and now makes it seem like it isn't all worth the price as much. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 This makes my photo a lil outdated. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Other than that, the place is fantastic!

Fantastic experience at this Western themed restaurant, love the atmosphere with country music playing and food is always great. We went for lunch and sat outside. Prices have gone up but portion sizes are very generous and you won't go hungry.

Date of Visit: 12/06/2022 Venue: Smith & Western Paid a visit with 5 others As it doesn't offer halal meat, I ordered the Vegan Burrito - Prompt arrival of food - Pleasant taste and presentation - Friendly staff - Nice and clean decor There could have been more tortilla chips served. I felt they were too few in number considering how there was a lot of dip to use. Overall a nice stop by.

Atmosphere in here is good for kids, however the food is standard and overpriced.

Had a absolutely lovely family lunch here, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was lovely, they were very helpful and accommodating when I mentioned my son's autism and asked us where we would like to be seated and have us a choice of quite places.

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for a little under a year now and I have to say we highly recommend it. There is a great choice of food and drink available, great atmosphere and amazing staff. We have been served by Scott since the first day we ventured into the restaurant out of curiosity. He is very approachable, friendly and nothing is too much for him. He is the main reason we keep coming back weekly as we know he will look after us. He is a real credit to this establishment and if you are looking for a restaurant with country music and the staff wear stetsons and you get a real outback feel, this is for you. The head chef is Tom, who cooks our food to perfection along with his team. We always feel great when both Tom and Scott are working, but the food is great and the character of the restaurant suits the menu. It is definitely worth giving this restaurant a try, the relaxed atmosphere and staff are a bonus all headed up by Lesley, who is a great addition to the team.

Our third visit in a week (don’t judge us!!) and not bored yet. We went as a couple, then with another couple and then for my Dad’s birthday. Not a single complaint about the food and everyone said they are looking forward to going back. Other than the cocktails (excellent) the main attraction is the service. The staff are fantastic. Would definitely recommend…and have!

Terrible service and final once the food arrive it was disgusting. Burger was old and their speical was microwaved. I would stay away from here. All the staff are kids just out of school I presume the chefs are also from the quality of food. Not worth the money. Overpriced trash.

It’s definitely an American cowboy set up and very well done at that! Saddles, wagon wheels, wooden beams and cowgirls to take your order! Very good atmosphere, nice low lighting but you can still see your food. Very comfortable. Our waitress was attentive and the service was good. Burgers and chips were big portions and tasty. Not as hot as would have liked, and the chips were not as hot as expected. Otherwise the meal was satisfactory. Great for a family night out and some dishes I would come back to try. Definitely recommend!

Birthday meal good good and service. Do wish they would cater more for younger family members when it comes to a toddler eating with plastic fork that breaks easily it’s not safe or large glass and straw. Can you please consider fruit shoot bottles and smaller forks and spoons?

We had 2 quite different meal experiences, Fajitas ( beef) was very good , steaming hot . Tasty and would recommend. Ribs , not very good , dry and quiet tough, chips were only just warm when served so to cold to eat by halfway through the ribs, and the corn on the cob was cold when served. Waitress did walk by and ask if everything was OK, but didn't wait for a answer. The atmosphere was good . If ! We revisit, will avoid ribs and try a burger.

Got to our booked table, food took about an hour to come. It was sitting on the pass waiting to be taken. When it’s did come I had a five bean chilli, which was cold, when i asked for another it was not good for £16. Nachos were stale, the rice tasted like microwave rice and the chilli was just beans in tomato sauce. The dessert was nice but during it we were told we had to leave for another table, no warning or anything and only ten minutes after receiving are dessert. After we explained how long we waited for our mains, they walked away. The service was okay, some servers were lovely.

This was our first time at a Smith & Western and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was really tasty and the portion sizes weren't small in comparison to a lot of other restaurants. The service was quick and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Our server was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The only feedback would be that the outside / garden area looked tired and unkept with some litter strewn around. I know it's February and no one would sit out there, but it doesn't do the inside any justice and may put people off. We'll definitely return.

Normally goto the Horsham one. Went Midday during the week. A little quiet. Service was good. So was the food. Lack of proper Cider is my main bug bear at all thier venues. At least have one unflavoured version even if it's only in a bottle.

Last minute decision to visit our local. Great decision. such friendly staff, great food & desserts. Live music was a bit too loud, I could only hear the friend next to me, not the two across the table, although a great voice is was just too loud for an eating pub, where we went to catch up. But once the singing ceased, we could hear all above the pub music and finished our desserts catching up. Thanks.

Food is not great, very spicy, and even the beans for kids. Wouldn't go again. Staff are friendly.

All the food has too much added heat! We ordered different dishes, and each was spiced up. Why can't we leave food alone in this country? I have no idea! We even requested that it was not spicy! Two choices in the UK right now, spicy or bland, there's no in between.

We came here to celebrate our grandson's birthday. It was his choice, but we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We were really well looked after and everyone enjoyed their food. We particularly enjoyed being out in the lighter area.

We have been to the Lingfield S&W lots of times, my kids love it. Always a great experience but can be rather busy. Went for lunch this time. Superb service, best I have ever experienced. Visited here many times but the last couple of visits the main meals haven't been as nice. Had the chicken stack on this occasion and unfortunately it was very dry. Both the chicken and the chips. It's a shame as the restaurant is great and staff are lovely but would be very reluctant to return.

Abysmal experience. Took an hour for our food and drinks to arrive. I have coeliac disease and notified the waiting staff. Both of my orders not only came back with the wrong toppings, but contained gluten to boot! I had a few of the fries before I realised and am already feeling gut symptoms. Never again!
