The Greedy Banker in Medway

How much you like this pub depends on how you feel about spending £28 on a, generally excellent, pint and a burger and chips. (You can get the basic burger, chips and beer for about £21, but the speciality stuff is more). The atmosphere is a slightly weird mix of indie pub, expensive burgers and 17 huge TVs showing sport. But nothing bad about it. I think it's a nice place. Good beer, good food, nice staff. It's just it would literally be cheaper to buy the same sort of thing in London, and Rainham High Street is not London.

Quite busy, several tv 's showing sports. Not overly noisy so conversation was ok. They had an Octoberfest day, with a choice of five Octoberfest beers on draught. Tried a little of all of them. All lovely. Didn't eat but it is a popular place for burgers etc.

Where to start?! Started with a strawberry beer for the other half, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and I had a mango cider, which was absolutely delicious, so much so... I had two more! We had seen loads of posts on Facebook about the food, and I am just annoyed we didn't visit sooner. We got an array of sides that were great, but then the burgers came, and honestly, they were hands down the best burgers we have ever had. Halfway through, we were both stuffed, but I was not going to leave my plate half full, so I soldiered on and managed to eat the lot. I am a fan of spicey foods, and so the hot naga cheese sauce was perfect for me - and was gutted to hear I had missed the spicy wings event a few days before! The price point was on the higher side, but you get what you pay for, and this was well worth paying a little bit more. The staff were great too, and as great as they were, one of the best things about this place was no interruptions at the table mid-mouthful to ask how the food was, which I find so annoying. Their approach is, if you need us, ask for us. I can't wait to come back for food here and couldn't recommend this place enough.

A super welcoming group of staff members who know there stuff. As to be expected an exemplary menu as pioneered in 'The Dead Pigeon' Rochester. Nevermind Wetherspoons and the Cricketers, a new banker is on the block!

OK but a bit cramped when busy. Opposite of a tardis, smaller inside than it looks from outside. Good selection of beers.

First time at the Banker after many times at the sister pub in Rochester. Amazing burgers as always, best for absolute miles. Lovely staff and great beer selection.

Well what can I say I couldn’t book a table for 9 people to celebrate a 40th! I asked in advanced and got told no. Walked in there today and customers were just taking up tables with no food or drink ?! Basically the company just missed out on £300 if that!!

5 of us went here for lunch on Thursday and got seated no problem. I had the special which was PB+J and it's the sort of meal where you can feel your arteries clogging up. It was amazing! Have tried The Dead Pigeon in Rochester too but preferred this one for the size and situation.

One of the best burgers we have had in a very long while. It's so refreshing to see that amazingly tasty, lip-licking food is still being made. Great IPAS too, we loved everything we tried. Overall it was a great experience, and the service was also great. It was our first time here, and we shall surely return. Thanks for being here!

I absolutely love this place. The only issue is that the bathroom facilities are upstairs, which I find difficult, but this does not put me off the place.

Wow, such great food. Being a non drinker I was a little bit limited for drinks but the food certainly made up for it. Friendly staff who made you feel welcome.

An unremarkable sports bar hangout with bad acoustics and a row of tvs around the place. I’m sure the beer is fine but they don’t set out to offer any convincing wine options. People like their burgers but we were too noise stressed to stay.

Go for the beer stay for the burgers. Yes they may seem pricey but the quality your getting is perfection. Juicy and tender with many of the burgers available as beef, chicken or vegan. Surprisingly did not feel bloated after such a great burger. Also the beer is banging! 🤘😈🤘 10/10

The interior is ok and the staff are friendly but the prices are too high. I ordered a couple of beers, they were served in cans and cost over £8 each. This is London pricing in Rainham. If it was the only place in the area to get a good pint, I could understand it, but there are other pubs in the area that offer good beer at more reasonable prices.

Hands down the best place in Rainham for beer selection and quality. If you like burgers this is the place to be, had their Fat Freddy and it was amazing, I was stuffed. Plenty of screens to watch sport and plenty of seating. New barman didn't know what a Stout was which was comedic in a place like this but other staff were knowledgeable.

The food was ok, but the music was far too loud for lunchtime and informed the server we were moving to the bar area as it was slightly quieter.

Decent but not great burger, average (and obviously overpriced) fries, and decent beers. As other reviewers have mentioned, bit too long wait for food, but most shocking of all were the lack of condiments. Most food places should have some say, vinegar and ketchup available. What was shocking was the fact that this establishment has decided to charge £1.25 for a small cardboard pot of ketchup hardly bigger than what you get from a pump at some hamburger franchises and not even a nice ketchup. Absolutely terrible costings by these greedy *ankers (bankers, obs!).

Heard good things, took pops out for a early father's day burger and beer and wasn't disappointed! Very good food and service. Would highly recommend a visit. We shall return 👌

My son's favourite burger joint in the area, decent beer selection and regular menu updates.

The staff were happy to help and made sure we were treated well. The food was delicious, we had a slight issue with too much seasoning on the Nik Naks however the member of staff quickly came and checked. She gave us the option of a fresh dish or a refund! Just be aware that after about 20 minutes the sauce pots disintegrate!!

Visited some friends not long ago and they recommended we all go to The Greedy Banker. I am not a huge fan of burgers by my god these were the best burgers I’d ever had so tender and lots of flavour. As an added bonus they do chapel down my favourite wine. When we are next in the area we will certainly be visiting again.

Asked a simple question regarding the coverage of a football match. Was ignored for three days, then when I went into the bar wasn't assured that the entirety of the match would be broadcast with sound due to it being "Friday night" and possibly it being a championship playoff, not premier league. Huge discrimination. Got a very unpleasant response from their social media, saying I shouldn't come to their bar again. Lucky they don't need to care about people eh?

Always love it here! Food is amazing, been here many times and never been disappointed. Have ordered inside and had takeaway before and the food is just as good. The service is always great, all the staff are very friendly. Love the quiz on Sunday nights too.

Went to the Greedy Banker Friday evening as an early birthday celebration. The food was delicious ( I ordered the double American Burger and would definitely recommend) and my friends ordered the 'Good For The Seoul' special, which they also thoroughly enjoyed. The service was also good, and the staff are constantly on the go, clearing tables etc. I had a very nice ameretto/cherry beer drink as well (although can't remember what it was called). Overall really impressed and will definitely be back.

Fantastic food and venue. Rainham needed something like this, and I'm pleased to see this finally happening. We love the Dead Pigeon in Rochester, and we're glad to see the food is the same. The burgers are the best I've tasted anywhere in the world and huge! They are around £17-20 for a burger and fries but I do feel they are worth the asking price. You are charged extra for sauces, so bear this in mind. By the time you add on a beer or soft drink, you're easily paying £50+ for two people. The menu is fantastic, and there is a great selection of food and beer/ales. This is not your usual pub/grub establishment. The owners take pride in what they do, and the choices available reflect this. My only suggestion for improvement would be the waiting time from order to table. We use the sister pub, The Dead Pigeon, and always get food in roughly 20 minutes from ordering. For some reason, at The Greedy Banker, it has been double this time, even when I'm one of two tables in the entire place. The Dead Pigeon can be full, and we've never had this issue. Staff stated they now do 'Just Eat' and had a number of orders to process but only mentioned this after I asked where our food was 30 mins in - I'd rather they were transparent from the point of ordering. When you're paying far more for food than other establishments in the area, then you kind of expect service to match. I hope they take this on-board and find a way to improve this. I will return as the food is amazing and Rainham needs more places like this. 👍

This was a take away for our sons 9th birthday after he had to stay in doors after an operation. Tried to get a delivery but because of the road works no joy. Staff very helpful and food amazing...

Brilliant pub. Not like your traditional high street pubs. Has banging music, banging burgers and food. And a rotating availability of beer and cider. Would recommend

The burgers were nice a tad over priced, didn't feel much atmosphere but only went to try thd food.

Wow! If you like burgers come here Good choiceof burgers fresh to order meaty and yummy. Gourmet bugers worth the price for a treat with ya mates and good section beers on tap.

Very,very disappointed. The bar staff seemed genuinely annoyed that they had to leave their phones to serve me, I then found out its card only, this is when I should have taken my wife's advice and left. The burger was tasty but very sloppy the fries were not skin on and they had no wings and no idea when they were getting any, I was then confronted and told my card hadn't worked and that I needed to pay again, luckily my online banking proved otherwise. Needless to say we definitely won't be wasting any more of our hard earned money here .

I got the classic chicken burger and bbq and cheese topped fries, the chips were good; crispy and overloaded with cheese. The burger however was soggy and didn’t have much flavour other than the sauce, the chicken itself was overdone and the batter tasted burnt.

Great beer line, probably the best I’ve seen in a pub they seem to have something for everyone The food is just out of this world. Probably the best burger I have ever had. It was very busy on Thursday night and It’s easy to see why. Will certainly be back for more.

Called in here for drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Service was friendly. Decor morbid. Atmosphere noisy although good sound track. My mate did not like his cider. My beer was fine. We both agreed that £15.75 for 2 pints was a bit excessive. I would not return!

I’ve had their naga burger 3 times and every time it hits the spot like nothing else accompanied by their naga cheese fries and a naga ketchup. I absolutely NEED that recipe!

Ok so I’m not giving the poor review for the food or the selection of beers. Not even for the not so great decor. I’ve been coming to the greedy banker since opening in 2022 and also love the dead pigeon. I will keep coming to both but… The last couple of times I’ve been has been early on in the week, Tuesday or Wednesday night around 7 ish and it’s not been very busy. This shows in the very bored bar staff! They don’t want to be there!!! Stuck to their phones at the end of the bar not really wanting to serve! Making us feel really uncomfortable and it’s like they’re doing is a favour being there. The icing on the cake was turning tv’s and lights off at 10.15. The chairs were already on tables. Watching every sip of beer willing us out the front door! Even asking for my friend’s glass before he even finished his pint!!!! I wouldn’t normally say anything but it’s happened a few times now. This is for the management really. If it’s empty and no one wants to be there don’t open on a Tuesday and Wednesday. We ended up in the cricketers in the end to finish the night.

Well, what can I say. We came for dinner with friends. It was a quiet day, so the atmosphere was very subdued but live football helped. Our friends were already apprehensive when we arrived, as the waitress had already announced to everyone that she had quit and was leaving soon. It showed. More time on the phone which I've not seen in many places, than interested in her current job. Clearly distracted as gave us wrong drink twice and when asked for advice on beers they had no idea. Very unusual for a pub not knowing their beers. Anyway, perhaps that explains their leaving. We didn't let it impact us too much and ordered our food, which was a combination of themed burgers and dogs. These were a real treat along with delicious loaded fries. Service was friendly by the manager and efficient. No check if the food was ok however thats great as we were clearly enjoying it. Well done! We often go out once a month as time without kids, and this is often precious. We noticed it was quiet, and staff began the closing up processes, i.e., hoovering, talking about closing up, stacking chairs early, and generally making us feel that we needed to go. Well before their advertised closing time of 11pm. We were finishing our purchased drinks. The manager kindly informed us they were closing bar taps off and if we wanted any drinks. Waitress clearly wanted to leave and started to mop up to the next table and as it approached their appeared revised daily closing time of 10pm. Waitress indicated quite sternly that we needed to leave. Not once had they indicated the closing time, but it was just before 10 pm, so we anticipated it was late enough to leave. Fortunately, the Cricketers over the road were open and more than happy to allow us to purchase another drink, which we had and walked into friendly and warm atmosphere venue with quiz night ongoing. It was a lovely evening despite the fawlty towers demonstration to entice us to leave. Thank you. Will return just for the food as was wonderful. Hopefully the waitress would have long departed and the next person has some charisma and friendliness of being the front of house for the venue. Go just for the food alone as its wonderful.

I occasionally come here on my back home for a quick drink and decompress. The place is well spaced with a good amount of tables and bar space. There's a really interesting selection of beers from pale ales, lagers, pilsners, blondes. It's worth asking the knowledgeable bar staff for a recommendation. The chicken wings are really tasty. I had the Korean wings and if they're anything to go by the other selection of food will be a treat. For an area with a good selection of pubs and bars (many chains) then this one is really quite a delight.

Very excited to finally be coming here for a birthday with a small group of friends/family and was honestly left disappointed. It was a yes ...but...the whole evening. Yes the food was delicious but tepid and overpriced and the burgers fell apart in your hands so needed a knife and fork. Yes the decor was good but the chairs were small ,shiny hard and uncomfortable and lots of stairs to the loo. Yes we got served quickly but the staff were unsmiling, unfriendly, didn't say please or thank you. They also ignored you waiting at the bar if they preferred the look of someone else first. Yes we got a table but it was dirty and when we asked for it to be cleaned we first got an expression of surprise that we wanted a clean table then got told it had already been cleaned! The staff seemed busyish but we had to go and ask for our table to be cleared when we finished eating. The atmosphere was good but the tvs were so loud it was hard to talk and it meant that my food order got taken down wrong so I got overcharged. The best thing was the fruit cider they sold.I would go again if I was in a couple and just had to pay for myself but no way paying those prices for that service in a group again.

A couple of really nice beers here, I've heard it's expensive but I didn't think so. Quality costs.

Burgers were good but cold as our order was originally delivered to the table next to us and the rest of our order was delivered about 20-30 mins later. Very disappointed as first and because of this, probably, last time we will go!

Great place to pop in for a burger, so many to choose from!! Cooked perfectly with excellent choices in companion flavours, sides, and beers. A little compact, so it can get busy pretty quickly, but that's definitely a reflection on the selection of food and drinks! Will definitely be returning!

First time I've ordered from here, I got the cheese and bacon burger. Easily the best burger I've ever eaten! I ordered on deliveroo so I can't comment on atmosphere of the place. But the food wow! More expensive than your standard burger restaurant, but more than worth it!

This is probably the most difficult review I've written so far, because on the whole it was a positive experience and I would recommended trying this restaurant for sure. So I'll start with the negative, I think that if you are going to only sell kraft and speciality beers and Ciders then your bar staff need to be knowledgeable about them, I asked a question about Cider and was just pointed towards a shelf in the fridge, and then my choice wasn't what I hoped it would be. I was the only person at the bar at that point so they were not too busy. I then changed to a lager and that was awful as well. I should have stuck to soft drinks. Apart from the minor issue above, the two staff who worked Tuesday night were both super friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was very good, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about paying £25 for burger and chips, but actually the size and quality of the burger was good (I had Fat Freddy's beast burger and loaded fries with cheese and steak) I had been looking forward to going all day and was not disappointed. I liked the fact there are lots of screens showing the football but the volume made it difficult to have a conversation on our table, that said, I like football lol.

Have been recommended this place by lots of people. Has more of a pub vibe than restaurant but that's not a negative at all, makes it feel more casual. The food was excellent, good size portion of chips and the burger was amazing. Did not feel heavy but was flavourful with perfectly cooked meat. It's a shame the size of the place is quite small, but the menu choice means we'd going back to try all the different options.

A fine burger can be devoured here. It's a burger/bar with live sports, so if that's not your thing, just come for the burger and bail out. The burgers are well cooked, nicely charred but pink and juicy inside. I had the Naga chili burger, but it wasn't particularly spicy. I do like my chili though.. I'll request it hotter next time. The chips were also very good, medium cut and crispy. I had the double patty and for me, it was easily enough of a feed. Quick service and didn't have to wait long for my order. Had a few interesting beers on tap as well, but I couldn't partake. Next time. I'll be back.

Uber modern "craft beer" bar with a wide range of indentikit keg IPAs, craft lagers and two cold stouts. A multitude of distracting TV screens and modern furnishings. Will doubtless appeal to a trendy crowd.

I thought I'd check out the Greedy banker after its recent refurbishment. Being a wheelchair user I was pleased to see it has a wheelchair entrance but that's where it stops. Unfortunately to get to the toilets you have to go up a flight of stairs. It's another case of doing a refurbishment and forgetting about people with disabilities. Fortunately the Cricketers, The Railway, The Manor farm and The White horse all have accessible toilets as well as wheelchair access.

These guys never miss. We’ve eaten in once, and also just had a delivery from them. Each time they’ve been immense. Delicious burgers, seriously filling portions. Always my first choice when I need a burger fix!

Best burgers in Kent, the masterpiece is epic, and the Naga dip WOW, spicy and so morish. The beers are great, good selection of craft beers and ciders. Great tap wall with 12 taps. Been before and will go again and again. Keep it up and maybe open a bar in Sittingbourne

The burgers in this pub are to die for you need to be aware that everyone is ordering burgers so you do have to wait but it is well worth the wait I will be back. The beer selection is great and the staff very polite and helpful.

Unbelievable burgers. Had the October special and was just perfect. Reasonably priced.

Probably the best burger I've ever had. Might have picked a bad time to visit though. Saturday evening and the football was on. Had to wait almost an hour for a table and then the food took just over an hour to come out. Was well worth the wait though. Good, friendly atmosphere and a great selection of burgers and beers. Definitely going back again soon.

Food was nice but expensive for what was, the burger we had was very salty but that soon got washed away with one of the amazing beers & lagers on offer.

Waited over an hour for our food even though it was quiet kitchen seemed more interested in getting there deliveroo orders out than the 3 tables in the restaurant

What a place, fancied going for a while so birthday treat. Buffalo chicken burger for me & nagga chilli burger for him. All I can say is wow truly fantastic food. We will be back

Burgers are on point, but be prepared for a very rich over filling portion (that’s not necessarily a negative just a bit of a health warning ☺️) However, for us the decor and ambiance isn’t to our taste, maybe it’s a generation thing 👵🏻👴🏻 Also the staff weren’t particularly interested in serving or looking after customers, they seemed more interested in staring at their phones! But if you’re looking for a modern sports bar with a variety of eclectic burgers then give this place a go.

The best burgers and wings I have had! Great flavour combos and big portions, everything came out quickly and piping hot. Very friendly and helpful staff who grabbed some water for our dog, and then helped clean it up when the dog knocked it over 😅 Awesome selection of beers with the tapwall and fridges too. Definitely recommend it to anyone in the area and The Dead Pigeon (the sister pub) is our takeaway go to when we have visitors! Go if you haven't already!

Since when have you stopped kids from coming in. Have been here many times on a Saturday evening with my wife and 16 year old son before going to dinner. We normally leave around 8-8.30pm but last night was refused entry at 6.45 as my son was not old enough. Won't be coming back here again .

Stunning burgers back up a level after a slight decline at the dead pigeon. I tried the naga, perfect and not to hot just delicious. A bit busy and noisy but thoroughly enjoyed washing down with some great beer 🍻

First impressions of the gready banker is the emptiness. I thought okay it's a Monday lunchtime so not everyone is as lucky as me haha. I had an americano double burger, and let me tell you right now, it was the best damn burger I have tasted. Well cooked, succulent and delicious flavours bursting in your mouth. If you like burgers then you will definitely like these. And the chips are good too, I highly recommend.

Good pub grub Street food style, unfortunately we we went during the football. It was loud and rowdy, you couldn't hear each other speak and the staff were trying their best but having to run of their feet. We heard lots of good things about this place but got Yates vibes. I can see why it has potential for young drinkers but didn't seem appropriate for family/couples, at least not during the football!

Friendly staff, nice food (albeit expensive) but waiting time was not good. More than 45mins for 2 burgers&fries, with part of the specific requests not fulfilled and no comment on delays, doesn’t cut the mustard. 😉
