Max was amazing felt very welcomed,food was brilliant

First time coming today, managed to get a walk in table for lunch time. Had a brilliant service from our waiter Max, he was very attentive and friendly. Food & drinks were lovely and service was very quick. Lovely to see the staff enjoy where they work and the atmosphere they create amongst eachother. Will definitely be back!

A 50th Birthday get together. Our booked reservation was incorrectly recorded. They managed to shuffle tables about in order to accommodate us, but it was right next to a busy kitchen!!! Food was good and well received, friendly service, prices as expected. Double check the booking!!! Parking difficult. But the walk did us good.

Fantastic everything at Quills on our first visit. Even the veggie menus were thoughtfully created and had many options and, unusually , not a mushroom or goats cheese in sight!!!! ( Why do so many restaurants think that veggies like these?) Thank you. We will be returning with lots of well deserved custom for you!

Food was expensive but ok. Please note that regardless of the website - they do not take tastecard. We were told 'all the 4 slots had been taken' whatever that means. Disappointing.

Food was lovely was worth it being on the pricey side for burger and chips. Thing that let it down was the rude waiter! One guy seated us then another zoomed straight over to us to inform us that we had to be out of the seats by 18:30hrs. It was only 16:30hrs!! Twenty minutes into our meal they started moving the tables around next to us, which I get but made us feel we had to rush our food down. Took about 40 mins for food to arrive and us to eat it. As soon as we put up cutlery down the rude waiter was back over asking if we were finished and if we were paying by cash or card. Didn’t even ask if we wanted desert. Has put us off going again!!

The Quills have a stupid limitation of only allowing four people a day to use a Tastecard. Has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Great service lovely staff, been here a few times now tried the burger today which was cooked perfectly lovely meat. I think it could be better maybe adding fried onions. Gemma lettuce rather than packet lettuce. And maybe they could add some onion rings on the side lol. But still lovely and chips were very nice again all cooked perfectly..

Nice food decent price and good atmosphere

Visited last week and had a donut burger (absolutely unreal)! Highly recommend this place, my only suggestion is if you have a tastecard or other discount… make sure it’s loaded before getting to the restaurant … the signal is awful and wifi isn’t very good .. but the place itself is a great little spot to come and eat

Nice food good service friendly staff

Came here today with a friend after many years and I cannot fault the service or food. Went in the afternoon and there were plenty of spaces. Was served by the beautiful hostess Sandra who was such a delight in her customer service which is very rare to find. We ordered the burgers and they were delicious!! Very clean restaurant and toilets were clean also. Will definitely make it out go to restaurant!

Delicious lunch and a really great value kids menu! They do nachos too... it's natcho regular restaurant ;) (they were also yummy!)

Had dinner here last night with a friend for the first time. Food was very delicious and yummy. We had the fajitas and chicken and waffle. Really lovely and attentive service especially as it was a busy Saturday night. Will definitely be back!

The staff were very friendly. The food was fantastic. Service was very quick. The burger, pasta and milkshakes were all very tasty. Burger was cooked perfectly.

Burgers as I like em, big, stuffed and full of flavour. Service was quick and very friendly, our waitress was lovely. Will return to try out other items on the menu.

Rang up to make a booking for the upcoming Sunday and stated I would be using a tastecard. The lady checked with the manager to see if she could accept the booking with the tastecard and booked me in as the manager ok it. Then, on the day of my booking, 90 minutes before I was due to arrive, I was called by someone who said I could not use my tastecard until after 3 pm and would I like to cancel. As I had arranged to meet my friend there we went ahead as it was too short notice to arrange anything else. Very disappointing customer service on not upholding the tastecard, when it does not state from 3 pm in the terms and conditions and was not mentioned at the time of booking.

Booked the Xmas dinner selecting our choices in advance. The restaurant was warm, inviting & the staff were friendly & helpful, however...... Whilst the Xmas starter was nice, we were informed our pre chosen desert choice had sold out - not sure how if pre booked? The Xmas dinner was a disappointment. The meat was nice but the vegetables were obviously not fresh vegetables & the roast potatoes dry, tasteless & reheated. There was also no stuffing. The meal was quite a lot of money & definitely not worth the price. I would not eat here again purely based on my experience - such a shame

I came with a group for the Christmas menu. Starter and dessert were fine, main was abysmal. I had Christmas dinner with boiled wet vegetables, cold chicken and not enough gravy. Service was great, staff were really nice. I won't be visiting again though.

My work colleagues and I came here for Christmas lunch 14th December. Sadly one of our party was unwell and unable to attend on the day and not only did we lose the prepaid deposit, as expected, but the remaining balance for that person had to be paid too! We were told this was because we had preordered and the food was prepared accordingly, however when we arrived at the table we were informed that our preordered desert choice for 4 people was not available as it had sold out ! We reluctantly chose alternative desserts. We all really enjoyed the starters and desserts, however were quite disappointed with the main roast dinner. Whilst the turkey was nice, the vegetables and potatoes were not fresh. Overall we were disappointed with the lack of value for money and festivity considering it was a Christmas lunch.

A great meal. Menu clearly labelled for gluten free and vegetarians. Comfortable seating. We were served by the lovely Ray who was friendly and efficient, made sure we had everything we needed and checked we were enjoying the food. A most enjoyable lunch.

Sadly Quills has gone downhill in my opinion. Owners were rude and patronising. An additional charge of 70p for oat milk in a small coffee is ridiculous. When I raised this, the owner firstly told me that ‘I was wrong and that was for 2 coffees, darling.’ so I showed her the bill showing an additional charge of £1.40 to which she replied well it’s written on the menu, you should have looked!’ I was then told rudely by her partner that Costa charge an additional 99p for oat milk which is not at all true. I happily paid my bill which included an additional £1.30 for a wrong order but didn’t want to make a fuss as the waiting staff are always great and the mix up wasn’t really an issue. It’s a shame when business owners aren’t willing to take on friendly feedback from local customers.

I went to The Quills for the first time with my colleagues for a Christmas lunch. It’s a nice, clean restaurant. The staff were friendly, and the service was very professional. I had steak with potato fries and vegetables. There could have been fewer fries and more vegetables, but overall, we had a lovely time. 🙋🏼‍♀️🍀🎄

Poor show for Xmas set meal Quills. I’ve been before and your main menu was good but your Xmas set meal was really poor - food was not freshly prepared all bought in - prawns like Iceland with a dip, pork loin was very synthetic and poor quality with no taste whatsoever, the pork wasn’t what I expected. The waitress was good though but food quality and cost horrendous!!

We booked a table back in October for a table in December. Received confirmation at the time of booking. On the morning of the meal, received an email “confirming our reservation from 7 to 8.30pm” This is a Christmas meal for friends who don’t get to catch up often and never would we get through a 3 course meal in hour and half. We had lots to catch up on. The restriction was never stated when we booked so be cautious, if they think they’re going to be busy and get more footfall for whatever reason, your table may be restricted. We contacted Rowlands in Gillingham, which is our usual go to for a meal, they had a table amend their meal time and could fit us in and we had the table all night. Meaning plenty of time for 3 courses, drinks and a good catch up.

Work Christmas meal 1st time we went there won't be the last definitely worth a visit. Food was hot when it arrived, considering there were 20 of us

Lovely meal at Quills yesterday evening. The burgers were deeeeeelicious! Had a really great meal and the staff were fab! Max served us, he had great banter with my husband Harry! 😅 Fab team, will definitely return, such great food 🥰 xx

Went there for our Christmas meal - very disappointing - To be totally honest, I don't think we've ever had a worse Christmas meal in all the years I've worked. What was wrong? It was sold as a Christmas Meal - no Christmas crackers or Christmas decorations Although the restaurant had been advised of who had ordered what, the food just came out with the announcing what they had to see who would grab it. The salt an pepper were presented in the containers they came in from the supermarket - all very down market. Unlike the promo photo on this site where the burger looks amazing, the starters were budget, bought in and simply deep fried / heated. Presentation was poor. I'd estimate that the starters would have cost them under 50p per serving. Main course - I didn't realise you could make a pig in blanket (note one, not pigs) that small - it was literally one inch long! Portion control was very varied - one colleague received only one slice of turkey - I had two Brussels sprouts. The restaurant even charged if wanted any extra gravy. To be fair, the dessert was nice Would we go back again - definitely not.

Normally it’s really good here, but we went as a girls night last Friday and it was horrendous,. We got an e mail telling us to be on time or lose table, so we got there dead on time and got completely ignored, When we finally managed to get someone to stop so we could tell them we had a table booked, they told us the table wasn’t ready and we’d have to wait. They made us wait by the front door by the bar for 20 mins and no one acknowledged us, We asked if we could get a drink while we were waiting and got told we couldn’t as where we were standing was in the way and we can’t drink there. We said that it was ridiculous to make us stand here, not allow us to have a drink and table not ready for 20 mins. The Manager totally ignored us and left the bar staff to take all the slack. Once we finally got on table we complained again and it was totally ignored, and manager still ignored us. Staff were very obviously getting stressed with people complaining. Food was nice but very expensive for the amount of food we got. Surprisingly, the manager can speak, as when we were leaving he said ‘thank you ladies’ in a very jolly voice, Shame he couldn’t speak when we got there and left to stand around for 20 mins and wanted to speak to him !!!

From the start we were made very welcome here at Quills. The service was excellent and extremely accommodating. All our wishes were fulfilled. The food was of the highest quality and the prices reasonable. We really enjoyed the evening and felt very comfortable. I can recommend the restaurant with a clear conscience

I love coming here for my breakfasts and lunches. The food is on point and just right for my speedy breaks from work. The staff are always nice and remember my preferences. They are timely and consistent. I would recommend Quills in Rochester High Street. They never disappoint. Cheers guys.

Absolutely brilliant, I had the big one burger. It was beautiful. All the burgers were well seasoned and super tasty. All food came out hot and tasting exactly as I imagined. Brilliant service. Would definitely recommend if you want a family friendly restaurant with good food. I didn't get any pics, as soon as it came out it looked so good, I just tucked straight in.

Would of been lovely to have a hot drink included in the breakfast, the price for what you get was expensive but the food was top quality. We had a taste card I wouldn't pay full price for it. Staff were great too

A very disappointing meal. We ordered calamari and halloumi fries(quite small portions for the price, given its frozen food. Main meal: chili con carne with rice, whilst portion was fine, sadly once again it felt more like something that came out of a tin to be re heated, taste was acid ( vinegar and tomato). I ordered the halloumi fajita and whilst the hot plate was a nice to have, once again the salsa and the guacamole were definitely not made prepared or made on premises. Service was also mediocre, whilst our waiter was pleasant, the guacamole and cheese nearly ended on my lap.they forgot to bring water as we asked. For £60.00 I’d hope much better.

We have visited a number of times over the years and always had a good time, whether as a couple or as part of a large family group. As well as being a great place for dinner, they also do a really good breakfast (with a decent vegan full english). There are a number of vegan options - including a couple of very nice desserts (not just the usual sorbet!) The staff have always been friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend 🙂

Went after visiting Rochester Cathedral, we were a bit early, but welcomed in and sat down. Great friendly staff and service, food excellent and good value. I recommend if you're in Rochester. Probably book first as popular

Since the refurb the prices have increased, and believe portion sizes have decreased. No longer good value for money imo. Especially true for some vegetarian options, £16 for some fried mushrooms in a tortilla is very expensive.

Great food, decent choice for the weird vegan in the group (me!) and a firm favourite with my whole family. Came in for a birthday meal for my husband. Lovely service from Folo even though it was really busy.

UPDATE*** would like to reiterate from the mangers very bad response to a last review from our Sunday breakfast. Please don’t be so rude and obnoxious with your comment saying if you put your egg in the sandwich it will be dripping. When the review clearly says the egg was on the side of the plate as we pointed out on the day. I know what egg looks like and what dripping butter looks like. So your comment really isn’t justified. And you don’t say to a paying customer where is she? Manners don’t cost anything. You say where is your friend. And don’t just assume we haven’t paid before leaving. You all really need to brush up on your customer service instead of getting your point across without listening to the customer. There was 3 of us and neither was happy with your food so this isn’t on one person’s review. You must be able to respond to negative reviews in a respectable way, without trying to make out the customer is a liar in what they are telling you. No need for another sarcastic reply. Thank you Came here Sunday for a breakfast and to be honest it wasn’t great. A bacon sandwich with egg on the side was absolutely dripping with butter and I mean the bread was soaked and all coming out of the bread. To which one guy said well it’s your egg when 3 times we said no it’s here on the side. 2 breakfast was cold. Very dry no taste. £10.50 for such a small breakfast is ridiculous. 2 of us waited outside whilst the other went to the toilet to which our waiter said where is she has she paid the bill. I mean who speaks this way. Who is she. Have some manners and don’t be so rude. Firstly is obvious the bill money is on the table. And secondly your don’t say to a lady. SHE. Very rude.

We were a large table and the service was brilliant, the staff really seemed to care and enjoy what they do. Very attentive, especially to the kids. The food was lovely and the restaurant had a very relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be returning!

We popped down to Rochester for a girls lunch, we all had different meals, each was really nice (easy to adapt for an allergy) options for vegan, gluten free etc including the drinks, the atmosphere was really relaxing, we didn't feel rushed or pressured, the staff were really friendly, would definitely go again

They have a new bar and the restaurant has been decorated. We had an excellent lunch - halloumi burger, cheeseburger, Bolognese. Good portions, very tasty and we cleared our plates. Good value too. We had a really good lunch.

I ordered a delightful chicken and waffles with bacon which was reasonably priced, especially as this dish is not served in many local places. I was served by Ronnie who catered to our needs thoroughly. 5/5 would come again!

Had a lovely meal with my son and his girlfriend. There was a great atmosphere despite it being a bit quiet (it was a Monday). My steak was perfectly cooked and my son loves his chicken and waffles! We were served by Ronnie and Fola who were both extremely friendly, polite and very efficient. Will definitely go again..but maybe on a Tuesday as I noticed when we left that there’s a dining offer on steak on Tuesdays!

Every time with the kids meal despite it saying it comes with chips they forget evertime so now my son only has a box of chicken bites. Second time this has happened. Food is lovely but its very annoying as nothing you can do to get the food replaced

We went on a warm day, beautiful old building but unfortunately no air conditioning and no windows that could be opened so it is very stuffy inside, which kind of made us rush our meal because we wanted to get out into the fresh air

I took my bestfriend here for her birthday. Such amazing service! So so polite. The food was insane, not too pricey either. The gentleman serving us heard it was my bestfriends birthday and before bringing the bill sung happy birthday and brought over a complementary brownie. Was such a beautiful thing to do and it really made our night! Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Visited whilst staying in Rochester for the weekend, this place was a blessing 🙂‍↕️.. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the breakfast.. I have no words to describe how good it was 😋 If I was to go back to Rochester I'll definitely be coming back here 😏

Nice restaurant. A lot of different things on the menu. Staff was very friendly and hands-on. I had the mixed grill and it was honestly one of the best I've ever had. The meat was just right. Big portions too. Would recommend.

Delicious breakfast, friendly service, glad we visited

Overpriced, microwaved breakfast. You will be paying £15-£20 for a breakfast with microwave re-heated sausages, re-heated bacon and unseasoned mushrooms. As well as this the coffee is weak and poorly made. Also, I would suggest to Quills that you close when you are doing works on the building as there was a hoover and a drill running the whole time we were sat eating. Avoid! We won't be coming back.
