Hollywood Bowl in Medway

Re visited this lovely restaurant for family birthday. With the atmosphere, decor and feel to the restaurant you could be anywhere in the world so is a great little find in Gillingham especially having lived in London my whole life and missing nice local restaurants especially family run. Service was great, nice pace and very attentive and friendly staff. We had too much food to post and no complaints at all, very tasty, big portions and great choices but the lasagne was delicious, cookie crumble sundae, the Greek wrap was also yummy and we had most starters also and no complaints at all. So tempted to try the famous dogs dinner next time but will have to not eat all day beforehand! Must recommend the selection of cocktails for sure! Thanks for making the birthday girl feel special also, was a lovely surprise at the end by the staff.

I've slept on this review because this is someone's business and their hard work is important. What was ok / good was the starters and the appearance of the restaurant, clearly alot of work went into place. The main thing was service. Sat down just after 17.30 and things were extremely slow. Staff not attentive and at points rude. Had to ask for glasses to be removed as table was getting cramped with dead glasses. Had to ask for more drinks. Had to ask for plates to be removed. Never been in a restaurant where they deliver drinks one by one, dinner one by one, from the point of the 1st meal arriving on the table there was 8 / 10mins long minutes until the last meal arrived singularly with gaps.... table of 8. Quality of food was poor, cheese burger a stable of a USA themed place was cold, extremely compacted and cold and minus the cheese. Sent back arrived with 2 ice cold slices of cheese stuck on the top. Lamb shank thing was dry, tasted very salty and for the price extremely underwhelming. Chicken on the chicken and ribs was overcook dry and blackened. Ribs were quite nice. Some ingredients seemed cheap..... and for the price point it should not seem cheap. To be fair the curry was very nice and maybe we caught the place on a bad day. I did speak to the owner who apologised but not really accepting of any negative comment. A three plus hour visit which felt drawn out and overall unimpressed.

Amazing food, good size portions and great value for money. Would recommend a visit. We had starter, main & pudding. Friendly staff too. Children loved the milkshakes.

Went there for my daughter birthday meal the staff there we're polite and friendly the food there was amazing with lots of flavours and value for money highly recommended to anyone who hasn't been lots to choose from from the menu

This doesn't deserve a star let alone a place in society! This place should be shut down.. it's class A filth! I got the calamari AKA Iceland's own brand🤢🤢🤢🤢 if COVID was a dish!!!! Round chewy and oily!!!!! Gordon Ramsay would blow is top mate! Everything tested terrible and re-heated in the microwave!!!! Waste of money and calories! Prison Pie taste better!!!

Been here 3 times now, without fail I leave overly full up but wanting more, so without saying the food is phenomenal, order anything greek on the menu, you won't be disappointed!!! Cocktails are also great and come fully garnished! Staff are attentive but not overly pushy and know when to leave quickly while doing the check back. Gillingham isn't a place I plan to go often, but this place is always a highlight if I do. Thank you!!!

Due to being a large family Christmas meal outing, we were well accommodated and looked after by the staff. The food itself, personally was a bit disappointing considering the large menu. We ordered starters which felt mass produced. I ordered a burger, thinking you couldn’t go wrong with this. But I was confused by the bun, very flat and crispy and the burger itself had no taste to it. I left the place wanting more, it feels like food is mass produced without any consideration for taste and quality.

The main meal of a vegetable fajita was excellent but unfortunately the starter of garlic mushrooms was so overcooked that the coating was a hard shell and the mushroom inside hard to find. Lovely staff and a great cup of coffee. I have had very good meals here in the past.

Very nice food so visited twice, would have eaten there more but not from area and had to travel home. Only a few people dining at the time of visit.

Food was good that I had, but no choice for gluten-free dessert. Had a member of our family on crutches and no disabled toilet. Couldn't get up the steep stairs to the normal toilets.

Friendly people but not attentive. Rushed service. Drinks slammed down with little care. No draught beers. Sachets of salt and all other condiments also in sachets like a cheap greasy spoon. No check backs. Waitresses would run off and wouldn’t check on table. One of the party eventually managed to flag one down to order a drink but didn’t ask anyone else on the table so lost out on getting more drinks. I only had one in the end. Starter was good but burger was underwhelming and was like a hockey puck. Reminded me of a frozen burger you’d get from Iceland. Also menu was half Greek and half Italian with other bits as well. Seemed rather confused. Hollywood would imply American so I’m not sure why there was a lot of greek stuff too. Delivery tablet going off as well made it feel like a fast food restaurant beeping away behind the bar I don’t think I’ll go again

9 booked for evening meal. 1 adult ate the dogs bowl, 1 child had the puppy bowl, 2 had ribs, 1 had steak, kofta,chilli burger and curry. Everyone enjoyed meals. Nice friendly staff. Would recommend.

A great place to celebrate a birthday. The staff very friendly and service was good. Nothing was to much trouble. We were a party of 8 and the size of our party wasn't a problem. 10 out of 10.

I hadn't been here for around 7 years but regularly went when I was younger and it was allways nice food and pleasant staff however this time we still had pleasant staff and the resturant inside is a nice place to sit and enjoy a meal but the food itself wasn't the best we had nachos wich where just very basic nothing special I would never put cheddar on nachos unless it was a mixed blend with mozzarella this was just cheddar not fully melted either but cheese and crisps is what it is not offensive probably the best part of the meal. I ordered a Greek kebab chicken pork Greek sausage with rice bread salad and chips. Food was piping hot but all the meat was soo so dry the rice was nice bread over toasted basiclly a crisp chips where good salad not so much far to much olive oil. Onion rings side where the best part of the meal for me. My partner has empire state burger he said it was really dry and pretty bland not enough sauce for a burger of that size. I didn't really enjoy my cocktail so moved on to a bottle of wine wich was awful kissing tree white zinfandel was really hard to drink even with the glass of lemonade i brought to add to it. Anyway we decided to try a dessert I got a truckers nut cream chocolate icecream I think its called wich I barley touched as the nuts where so bitter almost tasted burnt we ate as much as we could so that we didn't go home hungry but we won't return the menu really needs updating it's so old and outdated now and that might even be okay if it was cooked well but they need a new chef I felt like I was watching a Gordon Ramsey programme its just so outdated and needs a new chef however the staff was lovely and we did have a great laugh because the food was so bad we laughed out way through it so I still had a good night for wich I paid and left a tip but the one tip this place needs is new chef and updated menus and as lovely as all the staff are I hope they take that on board

Visited early on Wednesday evening one or two couples in. Lovely clean, bright restaurant with nice atmosphere. Hollywood theme was apparent, but wish the background music was American crooners. Menu was great mixture of Greek and universal. Well priced and large excellent portions for the hungry. Starters, mains and sweets were all well presented. Wish we had discovered it earlier in our stay in the area. Staff were all very polite and friendly. A lovely food experience.

We visited here on our way to Dover. We took a chance based on the TripAdvisor reviews & a family friendly menu. It did not disappoint! The menu had something for each of us to enjoy (young & old). We were greeted & served by very welcoming & friendly staff. The staff were brilliant throughout the service. The food was really good I would visit again if in the area.

First time visiting. We have known about Hollywood Bowl for every, having driven past regularly. We thought we'd give it a try. We are 3 coupkes who like to eat out, and try somewhere different once a month. We could not have been more impressed with this restaurant. We were seated quickly in a nice round table in the window. Even the sun in one persons eyes was noted by the staff and the automatic blinds were lowered without us having to ask. The menu is a mix of American and Greek, with a wide selection to choose from. My husband had the 'Dog bowl' which is served in a real dog bowl; so much meat for my carnivore! We also shared the Pigs trough dessert; a crazy combination of anything sweet available in the kitchen. We got a certificate for completing it! Another of our party won a t-shirt for finishing his massive burger. Fun touches. All in all, we had no complaints, we will be visiting again, and Hollywood Bowl has a huge tick and is thoroughly recommended.

Allereerst de service, sfeer en de vriendelijke personeelsleden waren echt top! De menukaart uitgebreid en speels opgezet. De kwaliteit van het eten viel ons erg tegen. Voor de prijs die je betaald mogen de broodjes vd hamburgers echt wel luxer. Nu was het een droog broodje en de Hamburgers smaakte matig. The dogs meal was een grappig idee, veel!! Vlees maar de smaak en kwaliteit was matig. Wellicht kan de kok hier wat aan verbeteren

Been over a year since my last visit, the waiting staff were friendly, the atmosphere was OK nothing special, food was OK again nothing made me overly excited.

Wow I can't believe I have never been here sooner. This place is amazing one of the best meal me and my family have had in a long time. Staff were so friendly. The restaurant in a whole was spotless. Food was amazing and price was very reasonable. Kids loved there food aswell and amazing ice cream. Will defiantly be coming back again and can't wait..

Booked this restaurant to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. It didn't disappoint us. From the friendly greeting, very attentive but not intrusive waiter service to the fabulous meal we were served. I would 100% recommend this place. We will definitely be back

The last time i went the food was very nice and i gave it 4 stars. I returned again today and was very disappointed with the food, the garlic mushrooms starter was like it had been reheated several times, the calamari was ok but not as good as last time. My wife went for the Gammon Steak which was about 4-5 mil thick and full of fat and gristle, i went for the dogs dinner and wished i had given it to the dog, the ribs were dry and reheated. Its a real shame tbh because I had told her how nice it was last time. Its a shame when a place starts to let their standards slip, I wont be going back again.

We arrived about 1830 on a Thursday evening and was warmly greeted by a very gracious and friendly waitress taken to our table to find we was the only customers in a spotless well decorated and relaxed atmosphere we both decided to try the shish kebab with Greek salad and fries as a main and the nachos for a starter and I gotta say I'm glad we decided to share the nachos because it was a massive portion generously coated in cheese with all the usual sauces and jalapeños...very tasty indeed and along came our mains shortly after which themselves were pretty big ! Huge chunks of tasty grilled chicken some strange spicy Greek sausage and pork shish (which wasn't as good) anyway I was defeated before I even began neither of us got close to finishing 🫣 still throughly stuffed we paid up and rolled out of the restaurant like a couple of blotted greedyguts 😋🤤 we will return for sure and next time try the pie or maybe ribs .....try them worth a visit .

Good portion of food. Nice friendly staff. The only down side is that it has no own parking. You have to use and pay for the parking a quite hefty price.

7 of us visited this restaurant for a family birthday on Sunday 16th April 2023. The food and service were superb. The menu is very diverse with traditional and burgers and steaks along with a very hood selection of Greek dishes. I opted for a Greek meat feast Style of dinner which came with skewered pork and chicken, Greek salad, feta cheese, halloumi, chips, pita and tzatziki. For Desert I had the Baklava. This was one of the best meals I have ever had, every aspect of it was delicious. Compliments to the Chef. I highly recommend you visit this place.

We visited for Mothers day, this is local to us so we often walk past and talk about coming here but did not get round to it until now. We are so glad we did, and wish we had came sooner - wow! The staff were all very friendly and professional, I believe it is family run the owner took his time to come and chat with us which was lovely. The food was cooked fresh and came out steaming hot, it was cooked to perfection and the portions were so very generous. The menu was comprehensive, it took us ages to decide! The atmosphere was relaxed, we enjoyed looking at the Hollywood themed decor and the candles made it nice and ambient. Highly recommend, and we will be back without a doubt!

My piece of chicken was so dry and tough. They where not attentive enough had to keep asking for basic stuff. Will not go there again, it's not the same.

HUGE portion sizes! Had the Cow Pie 🐮🥧 and the Stake inside was soo tender, it just melted in my mouth. Mmm. My only negative impression was that of the cost. It is a very expensive place to eat, but then I guess quality costs.

So far the best home cooked tower burgers. Not the high Street standard so well worth a visit .Good tasty food in all 3 courses if you can manage 3 !

I went with 9 friends for a birthday meal. All the food was brilliant and flavoursome, reasonably priced. Really friendly staff who were accommodating to our table. Everyone had a really good meal and cocktails. We are going to return really soon to try the empire state challenge, very well priced!

An institute of medway dining. Service was quick, prices are fair, portion sizes were large. Only critique would be a broader kids menu.

I had a meal with a few friends, I orders the ribs and they were delicious (though it could have had a tad more bbq sauce, I like mine dripping in it), and my friends had the lamb and steak, all were done to perfection. It was a lovely relaxed environment, and friends attentive staff.

Went to the HollyWood Bowl with my dad as a celebratory meal for myself going to University and was unpleasantly surprised with the service from the Manager towards us as well as the quality and quantity of the food served. The starter was disappointing as there was 4 chicken wings served for the price of £8. The Empire State burger had no flavour and could tell it had been frozen beforehand. Upon leaving the restaurant we paid for the entire meal and drinks apart from the burger as we could not eat it. My father asked to have a T-shirt for memorabilia as we did pay for everything else and had intended on having the burger if it had tasted better. We was told by the waiter whom served us that we could in which he didn’t come back. We waited for 10 minutes before the manager telling us that he was surprised we didn’t like the burger and that he was not going to give us the shirt. The shirt was not our issue, we had been waiting for something we was not going to receive and paid for an overpriced meal that we did not entirely enjoy. The only good information from the restaurant is that the waiter we did have was nice to us in which we tipped him but the manager had no time for us and spoke poorly.

Took the misses for a treat, both had the steak and was cooked perfectly how we ordered. Good portion size and great service. Safe to say we’ll be back for seconds soon enough!!

I went to the restaurant this week with my family. We had a lovely experience and I would certainly recommend the chicken kebab! The chicken was tender and well seasoned. Looking forward to returning

Probably the worst Chicken kebab I’ve ever had. Dry as hell and all the peppers on the skewers (and bits of the chicken) were burnt. No lemon offered to possibly save the complete lack of flavour either. Chips were also stale. Save your pennies and just go to the kebab shop down the road

Never had a bad experience here. Food is always fabulous and the service is impeccable. I visited yesterday and had not been there for quite some time. I was not let down in any way. Highly recommendable. The staff are very attentive and pleasant. The food is delicious and the desserts are amazing. After visiting quite a few restaurants it is lovely to go to one that has not neglected to look after presentation and hygiene.

Our favourite restaurant of all time, every time we go for a meal we always say we will go somewhere different but always end up here, as no where else compares. The food is always absolutely amazing with such a huge variety! Thank you to the staff who are always so kind and friendly the atmosphere is lovely! Couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough!

We wanted to go out for Sunday lunch but everything where was booked up so we decided to book here. I must say I'm very impressed with the service and the food. This will not be my last visit here. The restaurant is very clean 👌 Give it a try food was amazing

Main course food is good. But very limited options for kids food. Our 5 year old likes chicken penne pasta. But there was no chicken pasta available neither in kids menu nor in main course. Finally we went for spaghetti option with no meat, but asked the lady taking our order, to add some extra cheese in it as no chicken was available. The service took ages and finally the mains were served and the pasta was not very good with no cheese added. I went to the counter and asked for some cheese to which they gave us almost empty dry cheese which was stinking. To the stink the manager explained it's extra matured, may be it was maturing for few years in that same bottle. Our kid didn't have it, then the staff put some cheddar and microwaved it. By then our kid had fries and garlic bread and we left. Prices are pretty high if compared with quality. Location is good but you can get better options in surrounding area.

Very nice overall with friendly and polite staff (apart from the owner who always seems a bit grumpy) Food was hot and fresh although the salad had a couple of lettuce roots in it which didn't taste very nice. That's a minor niggle from a lovely meal which I'd certainly go back for more. I had a prawn cocktail starter and a kebabs main. I'd definitely recommend and return.

Lovely hidden gem in Medway! First off the staff are an absolute delight. We were served by a young lady and a young gentleman, both of whom were super attentive, polite and really added to our dining experience. The food was very delicious and had generous portions at a fantastic price. I found the dog bowl quite an amusing way to serve food, but they do serve food in regular plates too for the fainthearted. The restaurants decor was lovely and the atmosphere was great. We really enjoyed our cocktails too and I highly recommend the Pina-colada.

Absolutely fantastic. Great food, great service, can't recommend highly enough. If I had anything negative to point out it would be the cost of drinks. They don't do draught beers, only bottles which in my opinion are quite expensive. Would certainly go back.

Good food, big portions, definitely visit again

The table at this restaurant was easy to book and we got a table for our specified time. Upon arrival we noticed how clean and well presented the restaurant was. The staff were smiling and polite, especially Charlie, who was always smiling and has wonderful customer communication skills. The food was phenomenal and my husband completed two challenges and won a T Shirt and certificate, so he was happy! We felt welcome from start to finish. I get extremely anxious when eating out but I really enjoyed myself. Thank you to you all for making our date night as great as it was. We will definitely visit again and highly recommend to others who are thinking of checking you out.

Ah nostalgia. Have been eating here for years. Good quality, huge portions. The only thing is that if there's a group booking they don't let you split the bill.

Dinner here with friends, great waiting team, food was lovely. Had nachos starter, Boston Burger for main and a brownie sundae. All excellent. My husband had the same starter and the dog bowl main. Literally comes in a dog bowl. He has a good appetite and struggled to finish!!! Will be back. The kids would love it! ❤️
