Rodmill in Eastbourne

On a family visit to England (we live in Canada) We didn’t get the time with family as planned due to my father suddenly passing. We decided to meet our family at their local for a fair -well drink. We didn’t book as emotions were high so honestly didn’t think about it. On arrival I was greeted with “ did you book?” I replied no sorry then i was told well we don’t have room. We asked if we could just have a drink at the bar Of which just got an eye roll. Yes it was busy, but no-one acknowledged us to serve us a drink. And we kept getting shouted at to move as they were running food. “No excuse me” I asked where best to stand and she shouted at the other bar area. I hadnt been before and didn’t know where that was. I asked for direction she just said “there “ Zero customer service Zero smiles Zero Manners I appreciate we had arrived on quiz night but if the staff just said i’m really sorry we are fully booked. We have a bar area over here if you wouldn’t mind standing here so we can run food clearly & and we can serve you a drink. Or even tell us unfortunately we are full and not able to accommodate you this evening . Nothing just blatant rudeness. . Top tip….. Never arrive to the Rodmill without booking as you will not be treated well. My brother, mum & mum in law live in walking distance and use the pub for lunch. Sadly that was their last visit as they were completely shocked with the rudeness! We ended up leaving without ordering and going to the wheatseath who were busy but so friendly, fantastic service and food and made room for us to laugh & cry and say goodbye to each other after the hardest & unexpected week. Im totally shocked at the rudeness we received for having the ordacity to walk into a pub for a drink not realizing its quiz night.

Me, my dad and Debbie went there to have some lunch. We both had burgers but she didn’t have anything to eat. It was an excellent day.

Came for dinner, first time at The Rodmill, restaurant was busy but Victoria was extremely helpful in finding us a lovely warm table.

Avoid at all cost!!! Myself ordered a lasagna and i regret my decision it was dry over cooked and Burnt honestly looked like it had been in the microwave my side salad was sour came out stone cold My partner ordered a mix grill asked for the stake to be medium to rare the stake was so chewy you could not even cut it a knife the sausage was awful looking like a sausage from the chip shop My mother in law got the 9oz ribeye asked for it to be well done and came out black Used to be so nice £66 pound down the drain We will not be returning

I was expecting it to be a bit cheap and cheerful, but the slow cooked BBQ beef rib was amazing - falling off the bone and succulent. Sadly there were a few things which were unavailable from the menu, but what we had was good.

We were made very welcome. Menu choices were good. I had a steak and ale pie, which was very tasty. I didn't have a dessert as pie very filling. I did have a coffee after.

Have been here a couple of times recently, and I’m really impressed with the service I received on both occasions, the staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.

We are staying in Polegate for a little break. Lovely pub where they know all the regulars by their name, which was lovely to see. Nikki the bar manager/supervisor was down to earth & friendly. Food can hot and well presented. Booked for the quiz night Thursday

Me and my sister go often.as we both work full time so we plan on our day off to meet there. My mum been there couple times till she passed away and when my brother visits from Chesterfield. It's the first place we book have a family meal with siblings children and grandchildren.

Roadmil in Eastbourne is a lovely restaurant and bar where we enjoyed a generous and delicious Christmas meal. The festive menu offered great variety, with beautifully presented and flavorful dishes. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the bar had a great selection of drinks. A perfect spot for special occasions or a casual night out. Highly recommended!

went for the open mic, no house guitar, so could not play a bit slack not to have a spare guitar for customers to use most open mics have house guitars . cheap booze. staff pleasant enough . seems like a pub for locals, I'd say, very homely working class atmosphere

We visit here regularly as we live locally. Very professional staff. Lisa in particular. Adelle wonderful as well as the rest of the staff. We love it here. Great atmosphere, excellent service and good food. Always friendly and welcoming.

After visiting my dad in the hospital and not getting some great news, me and my husband decided we needed a drink and drove to the rodmill for a quick pint to discuss the options. The staff were lovely and friendly atmosphere. But then getting a fine through the door which has made our 30min detour to the pub for 1 pint very very expensive. This is not the first time I have been to the rodmill and last time I went there was a pad to put your car reg in and very clear information regarding charges. This time u couldn't see anything outside, but it was dark and nothing in the pub and the lady who served us mentioned nothing. I'm extremely upset and disappointed and will not be returning as 2 pints has cost us £70 !!

Staff really friendly, very pleasant and helpful atmosphere. Donna especially is lovely. We come to this pub as they show the football and the food is lovely. Great place, definitely our new local.

Family Christmas meal, atmosphere was really nice, mostly generated by my groups booking of 24, the food however left A LOT to be desired. Vegetables were clearly microwaved and frozen, meat was dry, my 'medium rare' steak was closer to cremated..

We like the food the ambience and the quiz, the staff are friendly and polite. it is a nice family pub. our sons are fussy eaters but they love the food there. overall it is our favourite venue to go and eat and drink as a family, we try and go every Thursday night for dinner and the quiz.

We love meeting up here from Lancing with family from Eastbourne & Hastings. The food is great & there's always good value options (BOGOFF on burgers every Thursday). We were served by a particularly personable barmaid who immediately put us at ease with friendly banter & familiar way. Advise you plan to arrive a little early as it's a popular venue with somewhat limited parking (but I noticed 2 EV charging spots in their car park). Overall the atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed.

I had a fantastic time at the pub. The staff really made the experience special—they were so friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. They kept the drinks flowing and made sure we were comfortable all night. What stood out most was how attentive they were, always checking in without being intrusive. We even had a few laughs with them, and they made great recommendations for drinks. It’s rare to find such great service, and it definitely made our night unforgettable. I’ll definitely be back, thanks to the amazing staff!

The food is cheap and cheerful and the atmosphere is good most evenings. They are a sports bar so expect them to be showing the latest matches in the evenings. Great family pub x

Great time, a party of 7 of us. Food easily ordered, served all of us at the same time, despite various different orders. Waitresses ALL fantastic,helpful,attentive and friendly.Fully recommend this place, would certainly come back.

I was having a viewing at a nearby location and decided to drop in here for a pint. It had been close to 20 years since I had last visited The Rodmill and obviously much had changed. Obviously my visit was dictated by my appointment time, so I can imagine that evenings would be much busier? Very friendly and welcoming staff and although this visit was outside the 'rush hours', it was easy to spot a few off duty NHS staff sitting enjoying their coffees. Very close to Eastbourne General Hospital so understandably it's a popular venue after work. Unfortunately for me the viewing was a pointless exercise so my plan to have The Rodmill as my local was thrown out with the bath water. Recommended.

Came for my sisters birthday, we was a big group and our waitress was fabulous her name was Julie she said she was new but really couldn’t tell.

Great place if you don't mind a drive, you can always enjoy a lovely walk in Birling gap and end off with a nice lunch or dinner, perfect for walkers and hikers

I recently had a meal at The Rodmill with my mum. The food was plentiful and good quality offering great value for money. Our waitress Donna was also excellent, and was very attentive and efficient from start to finish. All the staff worked tirelessly. I would definitely recommend this place for small and large groups.

We always find the food and the place so good. We have been to Rodmill a lot of times now, celebrating birthdays, retirement and leaving dos. The food and the service are both excellent.

Decent pub but they have a great EV charger. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. The grub is not expensive and always tasty, would recommend. It's a decent place to spend an hour or 2. Can occasionally be very loud but it's a pub!
