Harleywood American Diner in Eastbourne

We just had a lovely family birthday meal here and the food and service was great. The menu is so reasonable. Kids meals are only £5.99 and they come with a drink and dessert. My husband had ribs and fully enjoyed them and my steak was cooked to perfection. The kids loved the Monsters Inc statue. We would definitely recommend it.

Oh my gosh. We have come down to Eastbourne for the night and were unsure about where to eat as there are loads places around here. H’s stood out to us because we liked the decor and the fact that you don’t really find many American inspired diners about. We are so glad we did go in there, What a great experience. The food was amazing, the lady serving us was lovely. We had the skins, jalapeño poppers and my partner had the wings. Then we had the all American burger and the Philly cheese sub. We then had the cheesecake… Oh wow. Yum. 🤤 thank you very much :) never really got pictures of our mains because we were too busy digging in!! Very satisfied with our food and overall experience there.

The diner is decorated really well and they serve American style food and drink. Careful tho, as the proportions are huge.

Had a beef burger and chips on Sunday it was the best ever one I have eaten such good prices and very friendly waitress you must try it if in eastbourne

We went at the quietest time so it would be unfair to rate the atmosphere. However, the food was great and what you expect from an American diner. The lady who served us was very helpful and quick. Overall, we enjoyed our time there. One thing, though, they should avoid putting the vinegar that come with the jalapeño peppers on the nachos - just drain them before adding.

We placed the correct order, but the wrong dishes arrived, so to avoid waste we accepted them. Not even a cent discount

Myself & my wife went there, to try their burgers out. I'm a burger fanatic and have tried many a burger joint here in the UK, the US, and mostly everywhere I have been. I have tried some in Eastbourne, but it was my 1st time to this American themed diner. As it was a Friday evening during the height of summer, it went without saying it had good occupancy but was not full, as it was still early evening. Unfortunately for our lovely waitress who was run of her feet, due to the fact she was short staffed, and had a smile on her face and pleasant attitude, checking if we were alright and happy. In my search for the ultimate burger, I tried the Hulk burger, which was huge and definitely too big to finish. My wife had the Black n blue burger, and both came with fries. The burger was decent, compared to the many I have tried, maybe a little dry to be the ultimate burger, I crave, but we did enjoy it. Along with a tasty banana milkshake, I had with a splash of Mount gay golden rum to top it all off. It all made for a fantastic Friday night out, celebrating my wife's birthday weekend. To our surprise and extreme guilt, we found out that service charge was not included in the bill and what was worse was that I did not have any cash, which really upset me, as we had enjoyed the food and service of a young lady that totally deserved it and when I mentioned it to her she did not get upset and with a smile said "when you come next time". We went back the same evening after getting money from the ATM, as we believe this young lady deserved it even more for not even making a fuss. (definitely un-American of her😀) We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Came in with a mate who treated me for lunch. Spot on service. Fast.. direct.. and attentive. Food was cooked well.. milkshakes to die for.. and just a pleasant peaceful atmosphere. Just what I wanted for a chilled Saturday afternoon! My mate also said the same! And he will be going back as well soon.

Had a lovely meal tonight (Friday 26th July) There was a bit of a wait for food and drinks but the lovely lady working there was on her own. She was so apologetic. Only her 3rd shift. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Steak was really good, a portion of food was really good. Beer tasted really refreshing 😋

A really fun place with well-thought out themes and tunes. They didn't have brioche buns to complete the burgers so we had a normal one, otherwise five stars on the food!

Had a late lunch with my son here today. Food was very good - my son had a burger, I had fajitas, all freshly cooked and piping hot. The restaurant is relaxed, brightly coloured and spotlessly clean. We will be back, thank you

The food was so so good, it's the best chicken and waffles I've had in years. The service was great too, such a lovely waitress. I will happily travel back to Eastbourne just to come here again!

Friendly staff even the customers was nice.. had my 2 year old son running round like headless chicken as there's so much to see in here.. the decorations of all the retro characters and stuff like half of a 80 year old school bus! Was so cool! You could literally keep looking and find something new each visit! Loved it here.

A great American gem in the heart of Eastbourne. I have been USA and I can say they are on form with the food here. I will be back for sure. Love it. Highly recommended

Been over 5 years since I've been here Food has always been good in this restaurant. However, my burger bun was a bit dried, and some parts of my fried chicken in my burger were a bit hard. But no complaints ate it anyway. More less, the only table on a Saturday evening. Expect that being January and cold outside. Fantastic service got everything we needed.

Great restaurant, worth a visit

Thank you for your amazing service and food yesterday for my birthday, 8 of us booked in and all meals came out piping hot and together the bbq ribs were so tender just fell of the bone, steak cooked to perfection and you always served us with a smile, even the children's meals were great. This place is a American diner you need to visit and taste the delicious food..

Really cool themed restaurant, The waitress was really friendly and helpful and I really enjoyed my meal . I had the chicken wings and a steak and chips for main course. The onion ring stack looked great as did lots of other dishes. I'll go back with my son to try the milkshakes when we're next in Eastbourne

Visited for the first time tonight. Food and service were good, as was the decoration. Some good 60's & 70's classic american songs. But the restaurant lacked atmosphere. It has the potential to be a nice lively american diner but feels like it's lost it apetite somewhat. We will go again, but mainly for the service and because our kids enjoyed the american theme.

The place had one chef and one lady working there an they both managed to get a 5 star rating. Well done to both off you

I recently visited Harleywood American Diner in Eastbourne as an American tourist, and it was quite an interesting experience. The atmosphere was certainly vibrant and unique, with movie posters, trinkets, toys, and even a full-size Sully from the hit movie Monsters, Inc. The décor and ambiance really captured that classic American diner vibe. The tables were authentic and added to the overall theme, and the music playing in the background matched perfectly. I went for lunch on a weekday, and while it wasn't quite full, I could understand that it might be the offseason for tourists in Eastbourne. When it came to the American offerings, they had a decent selection, but I decided to go for a classic burger. It was labeled as "prime beef," but I quickly realized that British beef tastes significantly different from American beef, especially when it comes to hamburgers. It didn't quite live up to my expectations. The menu did have other American delights like ribs, which I would probably try next time I visit. It seems like they have more to offer than just burgers, and I'm hoping those options might be closer to what I'm used to back home. Overall, I got the sense that Harleywood American Diner is more for tourists, likely British or European, trying to experience some American flair, rather than for American tourists looking for an authentic taste of home. It's like they're trying to bring America to Eastbourne, but as for the food, well, I guess I'll have to stick to the real thing back in the USA.

Root beer floats, giant hot dogs, and lots of things to look at. Our family (ages 4 to 60) all loved it!

Best burger I've had in a long while.

The best American Diner in Eastbourne. The food is all freshly cooked and large portions. The chilli cheese chips were the best I have had outside of America. The staff were friendly.

Walk in group of 5 on a Friday night. Wasn't particuarly busy. Qerky decor makes a nice change for something diferent. Staff were nice and friendly and served relatively promptly. The menu is quite varied, and things you won't normaly find like mac and cheese in a burger or chicken and waffles. I would describe the food quality as average, just about suitable for the price point but didn't blow us away. We would eat here again but not planning on hurrying back.

5 of us went here to celebrate my son's 17th birthday, the service was great, the food was great and at times a struggle to finish. This is a little gem of a place that more people should visit, it's a bit of America in Eastbourne.

On holiday and found Harleywood through Google Maps. Staff friendly and efficient. Food was very good, large portions which I wasn’t able to finish. Prices very reasonable. Decor and music is excellent, Blondie and Rod Stewart 😄

Extremely disappointed and will never go again. On Father's Day, my partner and I took my elderly parents here for a meal. Whilst waiting for over half an hour for our meal to come out, my Father went outside for some fresh air and collapsed, cracking his skull on the pavement and falling unconscious. Whilst we were administering urgent 1st aid in the pouring rain and waiting for the ambulance, my partner went back into the restaurant, obviously in shock, to collect all of our belongings and to explain what had happened, because despite being right outside , no one had come out. He was met unsympathetically and charged for all four meals which had still not even been delivered. I subsequently rang the restaurant the following day to complain and was spoken to with a very unhelpful, abrasive, dismissive attitude and needless to say, no kind of refund at all was offered. It's such a pity because my friends and I have enjoyed eating here in the past.

Great food the ribs were juicy and fall of the bone, wings were very tasty, quick service. highly recommended will visit again for sure

Nice quality food, wasn't too busy for a midweek lunch. Definitely worth a visit if your in town.

Don't be fooled by the appearance this is seriously good and well priced American dinner very authentic food 100% recommend everything is delicious.

It would be beneficial for the [gentle]man-waiter (or to the venue) to attend training "how not to be extremely rude to the [potential] customers". Visited the place earlier, it was good, after today's experience - never again..

Cel mai rău service pe care l-am avut. Am comandat un meniu și după aproximativ 15 minute a venit barmarul sa-mi spună ca nu mai are carne de pork și ciuperci, am plătit un meniu și a venit cu totul alceva in meniu.

Das Restaurant hat eine wirklich coole Innenausstattung. Es fühlt sich sehr amerikanisch an. Das Personal ist super freundlich und das Essen war auch total lecker. Portionen sind sehr groß und preislich voll okay.

Went to Eastbourne for the evening, booked a table here and it was the best steak I had tasted in a very long time, the gentleman in charge was lovely, helpful and attentive, would definitely recommend to anyone who visits Eastbourne and wants a good quality lunch/dinner. Thank you for a fab evening.

Loved it! Here on holiday and went in Easter Sunday. Was very quiet (which suited us as we have two young children). Food was excellent! Myself and husband had the steak (not the whopping 72 ounce one...) But a smaller but tasty 8 ounce steak and fries!

We came for our sons 17th and we were not dissapointed. The menu has a vast varity of burgers and steaks all with nice themes. They also have a some food challenges for those that like a challenge. We decided to take on the Terminator Challenge. The burger was juicy and full of flavour. Unfortunately the Terminator won and as of posting this the challenge remains unbeaten. The thick shakes were thick! And we would return for these alone. Thw restaurant is themed well and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to a return visit.

Found this little gem on Google maps as visiting the area for the day. Amazing food, amazing price and amazing service. Without a shadow of a doubt the chicken fajita burger is the best chicken burger I have ever eaten. Would recommend to anyone looking for an family friendly independent eatery

My husband I was so impressed with the food that was hot ànd cooked to perfection so nicely plated the server was so polite and plenty without being over powering he gave us just the right amount of attention checking that the food was to our liking and if we needed any other condiments than that which was on the table . I personally was very impressed with the cleanliness of not just the diner but also the bathroom and what I could see of the kitchen that too was lovely and clean so thank you so much for a good meal and evening out for my husbsnds birthday .

Great place, you get what you pay for, the burgers are worth every penny! Word to the wise, wear your stretchy waisted jeans if you're eating here. Just such a shame to see we were the only two people there on a Friday night, could do with some live music as well but licensing in the area is a pain 😕

Lunch time meal for a family was a nice treat. Enjoyed the decor but sadly it was very quiet so not very "atmospheric ". Service was quick but not very friendly. We enjoyed the food and kids loved the milkshakes. Unfortunately were extremely disappointed with the "surf and turf" upgrade to our stakes - the menu promised a "skewer of prawns" for £4 , which technically was a "skewer" but only with two prawns on it, felt cheated, defo not a good value for money.

My partner and I ate here this evening and all we can say is wow. I had a burger and my partner had the rump steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The burger was absolutely gorgeous and the milkshakes were tasty. We will be definitely be going here when we visit Eastbourne again.

The food, the service and the décor at the Harleywood are all fantastic. Great place to go for an all American food experience. Friendly Ower/server who couldn't do enough for us. Barbecue sauce on the table instead of brown, lifesize characters from Disney and marvel that you can have a picture with. Signed memorabilia on the walls too. Coke float was a bit small for the price, I was expecting a lot larger glass for the cost. You can make it a Jack Daniels float though as they serve lots of different bourbon. It's not a cheap place to visit but the burgers are really dam good, they do at least do a smaller burger for smaller people and there is a lot of choice of different burgers, ribs and steaks. Only two veggi burger options. A halloumi burger (looked well tasty) or the vegan bean burger option which we didn't try as they're mostly the same where ever we go and not exciting. Great place to take kids for an enjoyable Birthday treat but not somewhere I, or many people I know could afford to eat regularly. Free parking on the seafront after 6pm. Minute walk from there.

Lovely always enjoy, had the Sasquatch burger

I came here for lunch in the summer and I ordered an 8oz cheeseburger - it was delicious and the cheese had melted perfectly. It came with a side of fries, also very tasty. And with all that I drank a giant strawberry milkshake. Whilst waiting for my meal we had so much to look at in the diner. There was tons of movie memorabilia and different lights around the room. Amongst this stuff was a giant Sully and Mike Wasowski, from Monsters. Inc, stood next to a life sized Iron Man suit.

Very impressive place to see and eat at! Food was imcredible and the service was second to none! We had dinner there while Airbourne was on and the waitress was kind enough to watch our table and call us when our food was ready so we could catch the Typhoon, thank you all!

Very good food and reasonably priced. Service was slow which was strange as we were the only ones in there at the beginning. There are also no baby changing facilities so we had to change our baby on the toilet floor. They are the only negative points though.

The staff are so friendly and helpful and go out of their way to please you and like to chat to you which makes it so friendly have been here a few times now as the cocktails and food are amazing great selection of burgers and other food also good children menu aswell the interior is amazing aswell as a 1950s American dinner style you do need to ring to book as can get very busy will definitely be going back again

Terrible service. Àlmost 2 hour wait for burger and chips. Not once asked if we wanted extra drinks or if everything was ok with our meals. Saying that when the food did eventually arrive it actually tasked ok. Overall poor value for money and won't be in a rush to return bit eaten far worse.

A few years ago this place was brilliant. I don't know if it has changed owners or what but it's just abysmal now. I have rated it a two as the food is edible, but definitely not worth the price. The drinks prices are especially extortionate, when you get charged ££ for a soda can that you buy 2 for £1 in the local shop! The food used to really enjoyable, the atmosphere too. But our booking of 6 all left feeling a bit like we were an inconvenience to the staff member who served us. No such thing as service with a smile here. Then the bill wasn't itemised, so we had no idea if the total was accurate, or if service was included. We obviously opted not to tip, which is very much out of character for us. The most disturbing part of our visit was the blood drips on the floor in the loo (nowhere near the toilet). Really lovely. Won't be going back.
