Harleywood American Diner in Eastbourne

Cant actually leave a review as I couldn't go as staff messed up booking and over booked and cancelled us and mess up a family birthday

This diner was brilliant, great atmosphere & décor, fantastic service really good food and drink. Highly recommend.

Extremely disappointed and will never go again. On Father's Day, my partner and I took my elderly parents here for a meal. Whilst waiting for over half an hour for our meal to come out, my Father went outside for some fresh air and collapsed, cracking his skull on the pavement and falling unconscious. Whilst we were administering urgent 1st aid in the pouring rain and waiting for the ambulance, my partner went back into the restaurant, obviously in shock, to collect all of our belongings and to explain what had happened, because despite being right outside , no one had come out. He was met unsympathetically and charged for all four meals which had still not even been delivered. I subsequently rang the restaurant the following day to complain and was spoken to with a very unhelpful, abrasive, dismissive attitude and needless to say, no kind of refund at all was offered. It's such a pity because my friends and I have enjoyed eating here in the past.

What a hidden gem! An impromptu dinner with my partner & 4 children and the food is amazing. Great portion sizes, delicious food & a fab milkshake thank you very much we’ll be back :)!

My husband I was so impressed with the food that was hot ànd cooked to perfection so nicely plated the server was so polite and plenty without being over powering he gave us just the right amount of attention checking that the food was to our liking and if we needed any other condiments than that which was on the table . I personally was very impressed with the cleanliness of not just the diner but also the bathroom and what I could see of the kitchen that too was lovely and clean so thank you so much for a good meal and evening out for my husbsnds birthday .

My partner and I ate here this evening and all we can say is wow. I had a burger and my partner had the rump steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The burger was absolutely gorgeous and the milkshakes were tasty. We will be definitely be going here when we visit Eastbourne again.

Very tasty food, huge selection of food and drink. Good value for money too. Highly recommended the mac n cheese

Terrible service. Àlmost 2 hour wait for burger and chips. Not once asked if we wanted extra drinks or if everything was ok with our meals. Saying that when the food did eventually arrive it actually tasked ok. Overall poor value for money and won't be in a rush to return bit eaten far worse.

A few years ago this place was brilliant. I don't know if it has changed owners or what but it's just abysmal now. I have rated it a two as the food is edible, but definitely not worth the price. The drinks prices are especially extortionate, when you get charged ££ for a soda can that you buy 2 for £1 in the local shop! The food used to really enjoyable, the atmosphere too. But our booking of 6 all left feeling a bit like we were an inconvenience to the staff member who served us. No such thing as service with a smile here. Then the bill wasn't itemised, so we had no idea if the total was accurate, or if service was included. We obviously opted not to tip, which is very much out of character for us. The most disturbing part of our visit was the blood drips on the floor in the loo (nowhere near the toilet). Really lovely. Won't be going back.

Excellent food and service. The rump streak was amazing and would highly recommend this. My Wife had the American Burger which she throughly enjoyed. Will definitely visit again.

Had lunch here Aug 4 2022. Loved the place. Music great and not too loud. We both had the American burger which was amazing. Was huge and probably the best burger I’ve had ! Would def go back if we’re out that way 😊😊

After seeing what seems good reviews for Harleywood I decided with the family to visit. Saturday late afternoon, was a bit worried I should of booked. Well worry no more it was dead, that should of have been a warning to me. We went in and it just lacked any atmosphere, yes it has all the figures and decor but it just fell flat. The music yes American diner but not up beat enough and not loud enough. Each table had a tv screen on it playing a movie. Why? I come out with the kids to interact not for them to look blankly at a tv screen. The menu was fine, what you would expect, and a drinks menu was varied with full bar choices. Strangely offering Oreo milkshake with alcohol that the kids wanted of course as the non alcoholic shakes where just normal strawberry, chocolate etc. We asked for the oreo with no alcohol which was fine. Considering we where one of two tables with an order the food took a long time. It was Ok, nothing special. I will say the H Wings portion was big, a nice surprise. But for 1 starter, 4 mains and 4 drinks the costly price of £66 was way too much. Really not worth it at all. The bill does not come itemized so you are not sure what you are paying for. Really if you are looking for an American themed diner do not bother, I have reviewed better. Really this place could be a goldmine really missed a trick which is so disappointing. Sorry guys will not come back.

Terrible service - only one waitress for the whole restaurant (poor girl was rushed off her feet) Portion sizes were adequate only. Quality of food was average Limited alcoholic drinks menu Popped in early Sunday evening when walking past, drawn in by the decor. Waitress was pleasant but was working alone so service was terrible (as we were leaving another table asked us if they had to go up and order as they hadn’t been served yet!!). Ordered cocktails from the food menu only to be told that those cocktails had been replaced. Provided with another cocktail menu that was more expensive!! Ordered a G&T and told not available. Ordered large glass of wine but told only come in one size (as comes in small individual bottles). The cream soda was a can from cash-and-carry with a straw in!! Steak was over cooked and served with fries and onion rings…no salad/veg. Chilli was average. Fajitas were tasty but disappointing…menu said 4 wraps…but they were miniature wraps!! Portion size of the meat for the fajitas were small…padded out with onions and peppers!!

Went as a group of friends away with work for training, walking around couldn’t see anywhere we wanted to eat, when we stumbled on this amazing restaurant. The server Ben is the best selling point after the food, he got along great with everyone at the table! The food was phenomenal and the pricing matched!

What a great little American Diner. Great Decor. Little bit of a flat atmosphere but the Burgers were so tasty and very big. The beef was proper tasty. Onion rings light and crispy. Can’t wait to go back and try a few more things.

Random visit for a spot of lunch, we liked the uniqueness of the place with the Hollywood theme etc. Just felt a little dated, and grubby. Food was OK, nothing special and took awhile to serve.

Interesting place, and good if you need a bite to eat. They have a big burger selection, both beef and chicken, and obviously other dishes. There is a lot of random memorabilia. Usually you'd expect to have film memorabilia from a specific time period, giving it a nostalgic feel. But the film memorabilia seemed to be random, and though some were impressive, there was no fixed theme. I recommend getting the classic American Burger. All burgers come with fries as far as I know. I was a little bit confused that I got fries and a pot of coleslaw and my brother only got fries with his burger. I wouldn't say this is a 'must go' to kind of diner, but its worth a visit if you're looking for typical American food.

We settled for veggie burgers, the worst we'd ever had!Not burgers at all but dry Quorn fillet put in a bun. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service. Menu is really good with plenty of choice and a definite highlight is the Topgun burger. The diner has plenty of movie memorbelia to keep you interested. Will definitely return.

We went here when it opened and was great. We went valentines night 3 of us... walked into a lively greeting of the young girl. Sat down. Ordered starters. Only 2 other people in and we saw they sent there food back. Did not phase is that. They then walked out..Ok.... the food was over cooked.we think the chef didn’t want to be there. No sauces, no condiments frozen burger bread fell apart.Tasteless chicken burger. Wings tough. Ribs well all i can say is they were like they’d been left on a bbq overnight.Our child had ice cream...now being a American diner(ive eaten in America) you would think the ice cream would come out al flamboyant.. no 2 scoops and a squirt of sauce!! I felt for the girl she was polite and tried to make the best of it. 2 other tables walked out when we were there. £56 for it!!! Such a shame..... not good at all.

Should have walked out as soon as we got here! There was one other occupied table...Having not eaten breakfast or lunch I was really hungry and thought we would try this place as we had wanted to eat here for a while! To cut a long story short the food was a disgrace, admittedly I ate it because I was so hungry! Dry over cooked burger (straight out the freezer) with chips that had some sort of congealed liquified cheese on them! I could have got a tastier burger and chips for a 1/3 of the price from our local kebab house! I will never return to this place and do my best to make sure that friends and family wont either

My godson loves this place so we booked it as a surprise for his birthday. The place was empty apart from a single woman who looked like she was stood up. Our party showed up and as there were no vegan options on the menu one bailed on the night and two others just watched us eat. Two of our party were ill afterwards and the food was greasy spoon in quality at best. The surroundings and ‘memorabilia’ is looking tired and and everything has a sticky feel to it. Although I have been a few times since it opened I think this will be the last.

Visited this restaurant on a December Friday night, welcomed as soon as we went in. We had a good choice of burgers as well as other American dishes., After finding it hard to choose i decided on the 8oz Superman burger, Very Very good tasting burger with extras added and nice portions of chips with in. Very reasonable prices too for beers, You like any American food then this a must on the visit to Eastbourne. I Will be trying the triple 8oz burger next time as will be going back.

My nephews have been nagging me for ages about going to the Harleywood American Diner for a meal. This evening I gave in and we popped over for dinner. Upon arrival we were immediately seated and shortly after our orders, taken. There is a big selection of food and drink on the menu to choose from. There was no waiting around which was nice. The staff were great and gave the kids quizzes and colouring books to complete while waiting for dinner. We didn’t have much of a wait for dinner to arrive. The food was hot and tasty and the portions were BIG. The restaurant was nice and clean and the decor was fun an quirky. We will be back soon, thanks.

Gone downhill badly! We use to come here every 4 weeks, never again. Food has got worse, no salad with meals now, halfway through a cooling down meal we finally got cutlery, after that had to ask for ketchup and mayo, waited nearly 50 minutes for burgers and it was just us 5 in there. No staff. Had to catch the 1 member of staff just to get a drink if and when she came out of the kitchen. Really inattentive and a complete mess of a place, my son tripped over a red mop and bucket just left by the front entrance. Stay away!

Tuve espadas, pescado, ajo y ensalada. El marido tenía pescado, una comida mixta, el personal fue excelente y te hizo sentir relajado y fue un buen entorno.

Nos quedamos muy decepcionados con nuestra comida aquí. Era la primera vez que habíamos estado y esperaba que fuera una hamburguesa de primera categoría, lamentablemente no lo era. El interior es impresionante con personajes americanos de tamaño completo, como los hermanos blues. Había un miembro del personal que servía en todas las mesas y él fue francamente apresurado a abandonar su sentimiento hasta que otro miembro se unió más tarde. La hamburguesa estaba seca sin ensalada o algo interesante en el plato. El niño entre nosotros ni siquiera comió su hamburguesa dijo que no sabía bien. Necesitan una lección para mejorar su juego. Vaya al Hub Box en Cornwall para ver y probar a qué sabe una hamburguesa increíble.

This place used to be good and quirky with all the memorabilia everywhere. Now it just seems to have gone completely downhill. The place is filthy, and I mean so bad I didn't want to touch anything even the menus. I had to use the loo and it was vile.

We visited here with our 6 year old and had an amazing time. They had a great kids menu at a good price. The choice of food on the main menu made it hard to decide as everything looked great. We went for a sloppy joe and it was the best one I'd ever had, great fries too. Loved all the memorabilia and the screens on the side of the booths keeps the little ones entertained. The staff were friendly too. We cant wait to go back and try the rest of their menu.

Got a voucher 2 years ago with the promise of a vegan menu with burgers, shakes etc being brought out really soon. Last month a vegan burger was launched and advertised, I came for a meal with friends recently just to be told the staff were aware there was meant to be a vegan burger but had never even seen it before! Asked for a refund on the voucher but didn’t get one, however my voucher was renewed so I have longer to use it (although it wasn’t a proper voucher, it was on a bit of Harleywood Diner paper). The staff member wrote down my number for when they do get it in.

It was very busy, we booked a table for dinner Airshow Saturday. Unfortunately only 2 staff serving and only 2 in the kitchen, so try as they did service was slow and uncoordinated.

Went here over the weekend of the Eastbourne air show. Surprisingly quiet - albeit it was a Friday when many would still have been at work

After visiting a few years ago, we decided to see if the ribs were still as good as remembered. I'm glad to say we were not disappointed! We visited one lunchtime and received great service. All three of us had the JD ribs and they were delicious! Nothing was left on our plates! Will definitely be taking a trip to Eastbourne again to visit!

Had a lovely weekend break in Eastbourne, walking around we were searching for somewhere to eat and Harleywood diner stuck out with its quirky interior and interesting menu, we were welcomed by a lovely waiter woth our choice of where we would like to sit, a great authentic American diner booth! Their cocktails were yum especially the little mermaid and adult slush ....just what was needed this super hot summer weekend ! A huge selection of different burgers dogs steaks and ribs and it all went down very nicely, service was great with the gentleman asking if we needed anything else and noticing our drinks were getting empty and recommend a great choice. They had a limited dessert menu that day but by god I wasn't disappointed with the chocolate fudge cake !!! It was devoured within seconds even though it was a huge piece ! The atmosphere was great and we really got our rock and roll on ! Highly recommended.....only crtisitm is the jack Daniels me personally love Jack Daniels but there was a lot of it in everything sauce cider burgers ECT

Meandering through Eastbourne one evening four weeks ago, my partner and I met the owner of the Harleywood Diner standing outside his restaurant which wasn't far from the seafront.

Lovely visit here, service was excellent, food was delicious, I ordered steak which was cooked exactly how I like, my kids enjoyed their meals saying they were very tasty!! The milkshakes here are excellent very creamy & delicious! I also tried cocktails here which were great too!

We were all really looking forward to a fantastic meal as we had heard great reviews from friends and my daughter was really wanting a special drink. What a let down only one member of staff and 1 cook the food was not great and the children refused to eat the mash potato that was yellow in colour. It was so hot we are from the light bite menu. The stake was over cooked and had a funny taste to it as I can't have seasoning due to allergies which would have mask it. The chilly was not spicy but the jacket potatoe was?? The only thing that saved it was the onion rings of which they was plenty. Interest itch sorted we won't be returning. They did allow us to bring our own birthday cake as we have allergies so I made it myself wheat and dairy free. Sorry it was not the experience we were hoping for and please dust your figures not good for food place and asthmatics.

We came here for my fathers birthday, there was only one person serving, but the guy was sweet. The food is always good however my husbands burger was a bit dry he couldn't eat it. the only downfall to our visit was as it was a hot day the door was open and we were surrounded by black flies the whole time, and when your trying to eat dinner it is a little off putting.

We wandered in on a Thursday night without a booking but there were plenty of tables free.

This restaurant is really nice, the atmosphere and surroundings are excellent, and if you like your food well look no further.

We rang up Friday evening to book a table my partner was told the place was packed out and not space even for 2 of us. As we were staying very locally to this diner and fancied a steak I suggested we go anyway..as due to time 7 ish I'm sure 2 people could be accommodated. Lo and behold there was loads of space and availability! The waiter was alone at the point so can only presume him trying to put us off was as he had larger later bookings. We have just eaten at this wonderful restaurant. What a gem of a find! The food was excellent and the service was amazing. The kids loved the memorabilia and we all felt welcome. Would strongly recommend this place. The kids want to go again tomorrow! X x

Food is quite expensive but well worth it for the portions given along with the quality of the food itself. Entertainment was great, the staff were friendly and had a TV in our booth playing Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Would be an amazing experience for children, especially with the variety of character statues scattered around the diner.

Good to take small ones too as they have decked the diner out in memorabilia and backs buses with dvds of cartoons playing. Food ok. Would recommend to families with small children as it is geared towards them.

Wanting a giant meal and a laid back fun atmosphere?! This is your place!! Giant burgers and milkshakes are great here!! Just make sure you go with an empty stomach or you will be leaving half behind!

Visited here with my family and friends over the weekend. Our kids loved both the experience and the food, they have already asked to go back! The adults were less enthusiastic. The service we received was great, our waitress was really helpful and friendly but the whole place could do with a clean and a bit of tlc. The menu has a lot of choice and the portion sizes were massive but our meals were just ok, nothing special for the prices charged. What was disappointing was the dessert menu, there wasn't much choice and we ended up going elsewhere for our pud.

Been more than once with mates as it looks amazing with all the life sized figures of superheros etc. The food is good wouldn't go just for the food and the prices are not low for what your getting.

decided to come back again for a quick meal, both had a burger each, delicious and well cooked, got a large discount too with out cineworld cards so worked out really cheap

Had a very enjoyable meal here on Easter Sunday with my wife and son. The food was really nice and we did not have to wait ages, even though there was quite a large party that had placed their order immediately before ours. The service was good and the waiter provided a couple of quizzes for us to do, which were really good fun. Can thoroughly recommend Harleywood American Diner.

My girlfriend and I saw this place on trip advisor and desired to go in before going to the movies. Upon arriving it was only us and another large party in the restaurant.

Food was not bad, not amazing. Environment is really good, well decorated with American superheroes Price is affordable And I love that they offer small size burger for a light eater like me!

I found this place through searching the internet and thought it was worth a try, I’m so happy I did! The food was amazing and the sizes of the portions are great! You won’t leave feeling hungry. The service was excellent, really happy and welcoming staff. It was busy inside so worth booking but a lovely atmosphere for you to enjoy your dinner.

Even my American husband agreed the excellent quality (and generous portions). The children made a terrible mess and the young waitress was lovely about it. They have loads of stuff for kids to look at too. We will return!
