Forget the big chains if your visiting Eastbourne, and give this place a try. The staff are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. The menu is varied with plenty of options from chicken to steak, to burgers and everything in beween. Also the portions sizes are huge. The resturant is nicely decorated, giving a diner feel, however the prices are very reasonable. I'm so glad I gave this American diner a try and would love to visit again.

Always a warm welcome at Charlie Browns. Never ever had a bad meal here. Chips are the best ever. Excellent menu choice and now they do cocktails. Huge portions! But small bill. They do get busy so I always book. They have a vegan menu . Make sure you are hungry when you go to Charlie Browns

Looks a bit rundown, but don't be put off as the food easily makes up for the decor. Attentive friendly service and big portions of tasty food.

I booked a table for dinner here based on tripadvisor reviews, glad I did. The outside appearance put quite a few people looking at places for dining off, not surprised. Our hearts sank when we saw the place and walked in, we actually lined up an alternative place to eat as we were being seated, yes, it looked that bad. Dull, dingy interior, tatty, messy, awful decor, very off putting. We only stayed because the gentleman who seated us was so nice. Service was good once it started, but poor other than that. We had been waiting in the restaurant for over 5 minutes before the gentleman appeared, there was a lady serving in the restaurant, but she was too busy just gassing to customers to even give our presence recognition. There was no check back, our empty plates sat on our table for ages. Unfortunately, this is a very hot restaurant (no air conditioning, and a few fans which were very ineffective dotted around). We were desperate to leave to get some air. Plus legs were hurting from uncomfortable seats as well. A waitress appeared and started clearing another table (seated next to us) who had actually arrived after we started eating! Very annoying. The ribs starter was excellent, very tasty, perfectly cooked and presented. The rib eye steak was just as good, very good dish, cooked exactly as requested too. All in all the food deserves 5 *’s, the service deserves 2 *’s, and the decor deserves 1* at best, hence the unfortunate 3* review. The seating is very uncomfortable, cushions are so flat they’re useless, the front of the wooden chair pushes hard into your legs, not good. The cutlery is pathetic! The handles are so sharp it’s like cutting food with the sharp end of a knife in the palm of your hand. The food here is brilliant, but the service, comfort, decor etc seriously let it down, such a pity. Not much investment needed to make this place fabulous, it seems the owners really don’t care.

Oh my goodness! What a fantastic evening we had for our sons birthday! The food was delicious and there was SO much of it! Service was spot on. Highly recommend this place if you like good food and have a BIG appetite! The small rack of ribs was a starter with chips!!!!! Steak, Bbq burger and ribs and wings. Didnt get photos of the puddings but guess what.... They were huge too!

We decided to take a stroll into Eastbourne and an old memory of Charlie Browns came to mind, so we just popped in by chance with no reservation and were greeted with a smile and asked to wait a couple of minutes while a table was prepared. We had a fabulous meal of burgers that were cooked to perfection, you will not leave this Diner hungry. The hosts are charming and funny and very welcoming to all their customers.

You must be hungry when going to Charlie Browns. Always an excellent meal with huge portions. Great welcome and they are now doing cocktails which is great addition to their menu. I’ve been going to Charlie Browns since it opened almost 40 years ago and never had a bad meal. Rarely do we manage all three courses. But if you have plenty of time though you should go for it! Now they have a vegan menu and I tried the biscoffie pie for dessert. Omg humongous portion and it was the best dessert ever. Then when you get the bill you are so pleasantly surprised. Great value!!!

My first visit to Charlie Brown's has firmly cemented it as a favourite. We were warmly greeted at the door and had drinks in our hand swiftly after. I was a guest of a regular and the owner was chatty, friendly and warm. The decor is Betty Boop American chic, with many famous black and white photos adorning the walls and a large Betty standing proud in the room. Reaching the toilets is an act of balance down the stairs. Not sure if there is a disabled access upstairs as I didn't ask. But they were clean and well decorated. Food portions are very generous! You will not go hungry. The food is tasty and the prices reasonable for the amount you get. Cocktails are fantastic. Beware it would be easy to keep them flowing! We also ordered bottles of wine. If you have room for pudding (we shared) they are also large and unctuous. My friend's face at the size of the banana split was hilarious! All in all you cannot go wrong with an evening at Charlie Brown's. At the end you will be full of food and good humour. I will be returning with my family next time we're in town.

We visited before going to the theatre. A warm welcome, prompt and cheerful service, delicious food and a very reasonable price. Steaks were of excellent quality and cooked to requests. We shall definitely return.

We love Charlie Brown's. Incredible vegan menu😍 I wish they did takeaways, even just for the vegan menu! Who wouldn't love Cb's delivered to their door!. Highly recommend to anyone wanting good home cooked meal

Went tonight for my other half birthday , even though they had a 21st birthday party of thirty in,our service was excellent. My rare sirloin steak was perfect ( sign of a good steak is after it is rested no blood should appear on plate) . It was like butter when carved and delicious. Everybody in our group of six could not find fault. My other half wanted mushroom omelette , not on menu but they did it. Cost well how do they do it . 2x red wines, 2x half lagers, one bottle rose wine, one pint lager . Large vodka and lemonade . 6 x main course, 4 x deserts . 2 x coffees. 1x Irish coffee. £177 . Less than £30 per head. Always treated as friends even though we are not frequent diners. .once of the longest run restaurants in eastbourne and we can understand why. Dont ever retire Angela xxx

There were approximately 14 of us… celebrating a friends early birthday Our food was delicious, and was all nicely served The wine and our dinners were sensibly priced, and good value for money Staff were attentive and friendly, looking after us well Thank you for a lovely evening

Enjoyed a very special family meal here last night. I hadn’t been to CBD with my brother since the 1980s and it completely lived up to our childhood memories. Given the warm welcome and delicious food in generous portions I’m not surprised this lovely restaurant is still going 40 years later

We drove from Brighton to meet friends in Eastbourne who suggested this place as it’s a local institution. I get it… it’s quirky, old fashioned and exactly how i remember restaurants used to be when I was younger. It’s all about the atmosphere, the personal service, the massive portions and great quality family cooking. Not a huge amount for vegetarians but I had a delicious, generous lasagna and my friends ate extremely well. Incredible value, honestly insane value and just a tiny bit bonkers - I can see why it was fully booked.

No elaborate claims, no fancy gimmicks, just a lovely, friendly, family run establishment. Suitable for dining pre theatre or general dinner outings, with an American theme. Best tasting burgers anywhere for me!

Haven't been here for about 10 years, but the place has never let me down. Great service, even on a busy Friday night. Food is amazing, nice big portions, and cooked very well.

We stayed in Eastbourne for the night and the restaurant they we was going to go to was closed due to a bereavement. So we come by this by chance glad we did. The reason we went in was it looked fairly busy for a rainy night The steaks where great, great value. Real must try steaks

It was so good on our first night staying in Eastbourne, we came back again on our second night! A great little find, hearty meals to feed the Marathon runners of the Beachy Head Marathon. Good sized portions, beautfully cooked. A wonderful friendly staff team too. Definitely coming back next time we are here. Oh,and they do good cocktails and a juicy steak!

Unsure of the origin of their whipped cream. Cannot have cream from a squirt can..... Main course very nice.... but pudding was not on the same level.... Good value dining tho...

What a gem! My husband and kids (ages 9 and almost 3) and I were unsure where to eat, and didn't walk to walk far from our hotel - we'd already had a very busy day! And so we chose Charlie Brown's Diner for dinner. And boy are we glad we did! We were a walk-in and were thankful to get a table, although there was only one other group there at the time, around 6 pm. It did fill up but it wasn't overly noisy or anything. It was perfect from start to finish, with really quirky Americana decorations throughout, and an American-style menu. The food was FANTASTIC, portion sizes were HUGE - so be aware if you're ordering a children's meal and you have two kids, there's plenty of them to share and just order 1 meal children's meal! The kids' meals were as big as the adult meals. We had the cheesy garlic bread and cheeseburgers and they were all just amazing, we couldn't finish it all! Staff were friendly and the price was amazing.

Previous review slating the Chicken nd Prawn dish,,, well, I thought it was really lovely, three people I was with thoroughly enjoyed theirs.. all different dishes .. the place us Not 5 stars But neither is the price , nd I can honestly say we were very satisfied ..

I order prawn chicken it was basically boiled heated chicken so bland with a few frozen b tasteless prawns thrown on top and a garlic and mushroom sauce poured on top … my family member had steak and there was So much water on the plate !!!! . Safe to say all four of us hardly touched our food and when the plates were collected we wasn’t asked if all was ok seeing as our plates were still full …..when we complained the lady said the food was fine we payed the bill 80+ pounds but safe to say we will never return. Disgusting

The cheese burger I ordered was decent, and the chips were quite good. The waitress there was nice as well. The restaurant was America-themed, and the decorations were pretty cool. They had a human-size Statue of Liberty and a smaller tabletop Betty Boop. 5 stars for everything, except I took out 1 star from atmosphere since it was too dark for me.

Great place to dine. Food was really tasty. Booked a table for 6 and we all enjoyed the food. Staff were great and happy to turn the music up when asked. Can't fault them or Charlie Brown's.

An amazing find in Eastbourne. Firstly the decor is lovely and staff very friendly. We ordered drinks, streak and scampi. The food was prepared excellently, and came quickly. The waitress bought a sausage for the dog with us which was nice. We will definaywy come back.

We have been to Eastbourne a few times now and every time we go this is the one restaurant that we always return to. It's only a small place at the end of the high street that doesn't look that special from the outside but it really is a hidden gem. The staff are amazingly friendly and the service can't be faulted. The food itself is even better with several dishes you won't find anywhere else, including the signature stuffed steak. There's plenty of options for vegetarians too, which pleased my wife, and some really tasty desserts. The portion sizes are also huge, so I recommend going straight to a main with no starter. I know that we will be back here again in our favourite window table!

Great food and service. I would recommend this place and eat here again. I certainly liked the 'large' measures of spirits 😄 Constructive critisism if I may say. I didn't like the plastic covered seat cushions. It made the place look tacky.

The food is divine and absolutely generous portion sizes , so make sure you leave plenty of room . A huge choice on the menu and the desserts are out of this world. Well worth every penny . Very nice food and great service

After a long walk along the cliffs I was hungry and found this Diner via google. It’s absolutely to recommend, delicious steak, very good value. Its not at the main street for tourist, that could be the reason that the meal is so good.

Safe to say will never be eating here again, although the food was nice, the service was horrendous! Especially from the older lady, Christ, I’ve never come across someone so rude, telling us to hurry up and order, then constantly tutting at us, they also had no allergy menu, at the end of the evening my special needs 4 year old was having a meltdown and this one particular older waitress/owner stormed passed me and very loudly went ‘AHH GOD’ in a very very rude manner, our entire party (27 of us) heard this rude comment and couldn’t believe it. It was a very unpleasant visit, wouldn’t want to waste my money going there again to receive such terrible table service!

WOW, found this place by total accident, and we both decided on homemade burgers, classic bacon burger for me & Mexican burger for hubby. They were the best burgers I have ever eaten, came with side of fries and either salad or onion ring. Total for 2 under £30.00 The staff were very welcoming and service excellent. So much so we went back following evening and opted for 8oz Rump and half rack ribs, this came with fries, onion rings, peas and mushrooms. Total for 2 under £45.00 If you get the chance pay a visit.

As a local lad I've known about Charlie Brown's for a long time and it's always been amazing, I took my girlfriend there on our first date 6 years ago and they've been just as good ever since, we make it the place we go every year on our anniversary and if we get the chance we go there as often as possible, the staff are lovely and the food is always amazing.

I went last night for dinner, the service was amazing, not one fault, the waitress was lovely and very kind and funny. The food however blew me way, it was fabulous, it arrived at a decent time and it was all amazing. Very big portions...
