The best restaurants in York Yorkshire and The Humber

Went for a late lunch on Sunday. I'll keep it short. If there's a better steak to be had in York, I've yet to find it. It's not, of course, the cheapest, you get what you pay for.

Nos habían recomendado este lugar por amigos. La comida era genial, y el tamaño de la porción era grande. El personal era amable y amable. Comimos temprano, así que era tranquilo, pero se estaba llenando para cuando nos íbamos, ya que es solo un lugar pequeño. El tema occidental era único y lo disfrutamos. Si quieres una hamburguesa de buena calidad, este es el lugar para ir!

Oh wow! This place hits the spot in so so many ways! The service is brilliant (all the staff are super friendly, attentive and efficient) and the food is great. You might have to queue to get a table (we didn’t as we arrived fairly early) but the wait is well worth it. I had the avocado on sourdough bread (topped mine with two poached eggs) and it was fabulous-the kids had pancake stacks….light and fluffy with the best ever berries, and the son and his OH had the eggs Royale which they usually have. Luckily we visit often from Whitby and I think this will be a regular thing. Can’t wait to try an evening session…… I have to say I’m glad to have found somewhere in York that does great food at reasonable prices as we have ditched Betty’s for good (overpriced and mediocre) and Robinson’s will be our “go to” place from now on.

we would highly recommend this place, very friendly service, delicious food, beautiful scenery, and a cool retreat from the heat. overall a very lovely and relaxing experience.

Probably our 8th visit by now! The pizzas are always lovely, would especially recommend the spicy spinata, good selection of drinks including different flavoured lemonades, cocktails and beer on tap. Do miss the garlic bread though!

No pudimos resistirnos a entrar a este fabuloso café cuando miramos por la ventana y vimos los fabulosos postres. Teníamos cappucino y canelones de pistacho sin gluten, absolutamente para morirse. Por lo tanto, no se pierda este gran establecimiento.

Vinimos para una comida de cumpleaños tardía y fue una experiencia maravillosa! La comida y el servicio era 10 / 10! Ambos tuvimos los chefs especiales y ambos probaron increíble ☺️ Las decoraciones de Navidad eran hermosas y Monika era el anfitrión perfecto para nosotros y me hizo sentir tan especial, sin duda volveremos! ❤️

Staff were very friendly, efficient and considerate. Service was fast. Food tasted amazing and was hot.

Mientras esperaba que mi esposa tuviera una cita cerca, entré por primera vez en el café y me sorprendí muy gratamente. Solo tomé una taza de té, pero sin duda me sentí tentado por los hermosos pasteles y salazones que se exhiben. Servicio amable y eficiente y decoración encantadora con mesas de madera. Sin duda volveré de nuevo en algún momento en el futuro cercano para probar la comida de aspecto encantador

Duck and chips anyone? I’m quackers about the food at The Taylor Made Kitchen in The Shambles Market, with a highlight being the Peking Duck loaded fries. Please note, this was a special and so may be different when you visit - but I’ve had others and they’re all MAGIC! Skin-on fries topped with confit duck, hoisin sauce, plum sauce, siracha, Japanese mayo, kimchi, coriander and spring onions. I had the small (£7) but it was really substantial, also available as a large portion for £10. Nothing fowl about this dish, it was delicious! I’ve also tried the Pizza Fries, smothered in ooey gooey melted cheese. Too cheesy? No, I’ve made a career out of it! I’ve had their burgers too, the mac and cheese, and the festive poutine at Christmas. Coming to York? It’s worth poutine this one on your list. The Wizard of York (Wizard Walk of York)

La más amable de las bienvenidas para las personas y los perros, con café y bollería bellamente hechos consistentemente. El ambiente es acogedor y relajado y es un hermoso lugar para tomar café, ya sea que se siente a ver el mundo pasar o tomar una comida para llevar en el camino. Recomiendo encarecidamente el café con leche de avena, mi marido delira con los cruasanes de almendra. Nos encanta que no necesite reservar una mesa y walk ins son bienvenidos. Es un paraíso para paseantes y corredores de perros y un lugar popular en el barrio debido al café seriamente bueno, el ambiente encantador y es el lugar perfecto para el brunch comunitario. Amor hay música en vivo y los temas y decoraciones de Halloween y Navidad siempre son divertidos🙂

Waited a couple of years for the queue to not be so big, we struck lucky and managed to get a seat without too much of a wait, I'm so glad we Waited. Service was spot on, pleasant and speedy, the ambience of upstairs makes it feel so special, the cakes were amazing and we will definitely call again. There is a ongoing dispute over the sign of the tea shop, which is perfectly in keeping with the shop and the City, however some man I'd love to say gentlemen but I don't think he is, has taken a view that it might cause them to write more on the wall, is the general gist, however as they work so hard as well as not having the inclination to do this, they haven't the the time. So Gordon I hope you're ashamed, but I doubt it. The Old York Tea Room, I wish you all the luck in the world, and should you need a nice neon sign, let me know. Not the first time coming. A small business, but a huge passion stays at the base of it. I can't recommend these guys enough. A pleasure to come here each time :)

Based on positive reviews I have this a try. The chicken was shredded and tasteless (reminded me of tuna) and the rest just wasn’t tasty.
