The best restaurants serving Indian food in York Yorkshire and The Humber

Sometimes Indian food from a takeaway can taste a bit 'samey' regardless of what curry you order. Here, it was very refreshing! The chef specials are definitely creative - chops hand was standout and the Keema pop fun! Quick service too.

Did not regret trying Royal spice take away , probably one of the best Indian meals I have had , will be ordering again soon , and not expensive prices either ,

Tikka was no way a medium spice.... it was so hot, I could not eat it. eaten in the restaurant many times, and never had this issue

A nice small restaurant. 9 tables. Great menu choices. I went for the special. Chicken Noarbi. Really nice people serving. Bring own booze as none available from the bar. That's ok because there is a Tesco next door and they will open and provide a glass.

Just had a lovely first visit here and would definitely go back again. Friendly service and great food. Even went out for a bottle of Baileys to give us after our meal. What a lovely touch.

Another great meal. This time a takeaway. Have eaten in previously. Quality of food exceptional. The Dosas are a particular favoutite. Such a good choice of meals available, packed with flavour.

Ordered food @ 6:50, arrived 3 hours later @ 9:40 Called after waiting over an hour & a half and was told it would be here in 20 min. Called again after waiting another whole hour & was told it’s on its way & that they added in some free stuff as it took so long. All we got added was a portion of 4 onion bhaji’s, there was 5 of us so not even 1 each & i’m sure you get them free with every order, we have in the past anyway. Food was hot & fresh but not worth the 3 hour wait, won’t order again.

This is the first takeaway around York we’ve found that’s actually good! My partner and I both had a great meal from Spice Village (chicken shashlik for me and paneer for him). Sauces were rich and thick, naans fresh, well cooked and didn’t suffer from the (very quick) delivery.

Another place taken on a chance while walking past. Staff were great got us a table no problem. Had a cocktail with our dinner. Had the special dosa and byryanni and both dishes were great must say though the byryanni was especially good and well worth it. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Visited as part of a group of 12 this weekend and WOW!! Everything was incredible. 12 extremely happy guys, many of whom suggested it was the best Indian food they'd ever eaten!! Delicious food, incredible service....5 stars isn't enough. We'll be back!!

The dining experience and hospitality are very good. The variety in the menu for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian is widely available. The prices are very reasonable too.

El Chole Dosa era perfecto. La dosa se cocinó fresca mientras esperaba, y se sirvió con garbanzos especiados, así como salsas de sambar y coco. El precio era de £ 6, que era muy razonable. Sirve en envase biodegradable.

A fantastic authentic Indian restaurant with unbelievable food. Great location and a great atmosphere when there are plenty of people in there. Lots of space for everyone.
