TAAS Restaurant in York

Tikka was no way a medium spice.... it was so hot, I could not eat it. eaten in the restaurant many times, and never had this issue

Missing items multiple times now which is annoying when the food that does arrive is always very good.

Had a fantastic New Year’s Day meal here with my family. Service was excellent and children also well catered for. The food was delicious - can’t wait for our next visit!

Was looking forward to this as it has a high rating however, the restaurant was scabby, brightly lit. Not comfortable at all. Food was mediocre at best and they only enjoyable bit was the kulfi ice cream...

Horrible and unprofessional attitude by the front end staff while querying about table availability. Preferential treatment for some. Did not feel like having food and left the place.

Ordered some food via JustEat, over two hours later we rang the restaurant to ask about the order. They said the food had been ready for two hours, we offered to pick up the food ourselves and were told it wasn’t fit to eat and should re-order, which we didn’t. When the delivery driver showed up 3 hours after the order was made. The food was handed over to the driver for delivery, which we rejected. Which means now we can’t get a refund for and is clearly against food agency standards. I note the restaurant has responded, but the initial response I was emailed isn't the same one as on here, which acknowledges the conversation above took place.

Our first visit to Taas, we were in York for a couple of days. Absolutely fantastic restaurant with the best curry we have had. We live in Manchester where we have The Curry Mile but that pales into insignificance after dining at Taas. Food was delicious especially the chicken tikka masala and the butter chicken. Spotlessly clean and owners lovely. Roll on March when we next visit York. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

An absolute gem of a place! My partner and I love coming to Taas for a yum curry. The food is always delicious, the service is excellent, everyone is very friendly and approachable. I really recommend visiting Taas if you’re in the mood for some great food in a cozy & warm atmosphere.

Great little restaurant that was able to squeeze us in ahead of the diners who had pre-booked tables. Table was abit to small to fit all the food on and eat comfortably but we managed. Staff were very friendly. Shame the beer on pump wasn't working but a choice of bottle beer was avaliable

What a great meal plus excellent friendly service. We went with two friends and they both agreed too. Even the pickle tray was something special as were all the dishes. We have been before and will definitely return. Highly Recommended. Thank you Sue & Neal

Delicious! I don't even remember what I had, I just remember it was delicious. This place wasn't too busy and it was a nice relaxing meal.

One of my favourite places to eat in York. Underrated and not obvious due to its location but 100% worth a visit. It is small so booking/calling advisable for bigger groups. Staff are welcoming and the food amazing.

Wouldn’t go here, booked a table for my birthday and they got the time wrong, we showed up and said we have a table booked, the worker said we was early and made no effort to check or suggest alternatives and turned his back on us, I showed him the email of the time we booked and he was adamant we made the mistake which we clearly didn’t, very rude and unprofessional

Biryani was good but the garlic chilli prawns were not well seasoned

We had seen prior positive reviews and were not disappointed. Well prepared Himalayan/Indian food in an informal setting.

Unbelievable food and experience. We were visiting from Leeds, had researched before and then just walked in and we weren't disappointed. Would highly recommend.

The food was absolutely amazing. Service was wonderful and such a lovely, warm welcome. Honestly cannot fault the place. Was a chance visit after a day in York and we are so glad we gave it a go!! Really reasonable prices for delicious food. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Excellent quality chicken and the sauces were so creamy...

Struggled to find a good curry in York and finally found it! Amazing chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. Naan breads are so fresh! Look no further. Will be trying the starters next time.

The guy behind the bar looking at watch on the wall, when it's more than an hour before closing is a huge deterrent to customers. My first thought was: "I'm sorry I came here. I'm leaving now." The woman next door, not seeing him, kindly invites ours in with a smile on her face. He served us like a punishment the whole time. She was great - thank you very much. The food was delicious.

If you want to try some amazing Indian/Nepalese cuisine, then this place should be on the list. The food was absolutely delicious with very reasonable portions. The atmosphere was fine and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this restaurant! ☆☆☆☆☆

Wife and I were walking by and decided to stop when we saw another couple's food thru the window. The reviews are correct, the food and service was wonderful. Wife had the thalli and I had lamb saag, both arrived very (temp) hot and quickly. Some of the best Indian food I've ever eaten. Dinner dine-in was L30 total for 2.

Went to Tass to celebrate a 60th birthday. Not familiar with York, but Tass stood out for food quality. Service was friendly, efficient and quick. Food was delicious. Everyone in our party of five thoroughly enjoyed their starters and main course. I had the lamb dumplings (Momo) which came with a little bowl of soup. No desserts as we were full, but a lovely surprise was given to the birthday boy. A slice of cake with a couple of candles and a birthday card! What a nice touch! All in all, a great experience. Food was the stand out for us.

The food was amazing it was the best Thali & Curry we have ever had. This is our new favourite takeaway so fresh. Thank you so much we will definitely order again

Chicken momo feels like home. Best momo in the england. I live in london and I came here for business meeting. On my first day of stay in doubletree I found about this place serving nepali momo and couldnt resist. Firstly, I didnt find them on uber so had to download deliveroo just for the sake of momo. Everything was worth it. The soup the momo the achar, Perfect. I recommend to go for medium hot.

Absolutely fuming that I took my fiance here for his birthday as the evening was ruined! What a tiny scruffy basic place, toilet was filthy and literally next to our table, the food was inedible.. chicken korma with rubbery chicken no thanks..but give them their due they took my meal off the bill, I then ordered chips so I could eat something but they weren't cooked properly so left very hungry, the pickle tray that came with the poppadoms was awful..the naan was more like pitta bread... never again

Excellent quality ingredients and absolutely delicious

Came here for a post-graduation meal. The food was excellent. It is one of the best restaurants I have ever visited and is easily the best in York. Every single dish was cooked to perfection. The spice level can be altered at request. The kitchen staff and front of the house do the most to meet your needs. Highly recommend to anyone who wishes to eat authentic and tasty Nepalese food.

We went for our first visit not far off a month ago. Then took friends. Then came back again as a couple. Food is amazing. Staff are lovely. Value is incredible. We are now planning a visit here every month because we love it so much.

This restaurant is top . If you like Indian food then you will love Taas. You can get spice level what you like. There are loads of variety to satisfy your taste buds.

I recently had dinner at Tass restaurant for the first time in York, and I am so glad I chose this restaurant for my husband's birthday. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was exceptionally friendly and well-received us. One handout aspect was their willingness to adjust the food spice level to suit our taste. The food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend Taas restaurant for anyone looking for an exceptional experience in York.

Been here a few times now. It is fairly small yet manages to combine excellent quality food at reasonable prices. I fully recommend all the thali on offer. If you want to, add a superb buttery naan and enjoy alongside Momos too if you fancy tyring those. ;)

Quick, efficient and friendly service. Good choice on the menu and you choose how hot you would like your meal (scale of 1 - 10) The food was delicious and we will definitely return.

Now then.... awesome food and service. The previous reviews were all excellent and having been, clearly true. The mo mos were just incredible. So too the roghan josh and the Gurka curry. When the bill came we had to check it was correct as it seemed too good to be true. We will be back. I doubt there's a better Nepalese restaurant around.

First time here having visited the other two Nepalese restaurants in York. Nice food and staff and reasonably priced - the food was a bit more biased towards Indian (probably just the dish I chose) but still very tasty.

Awful, displays false opening times

धेरै मीठो थियो. We just arrived in York, tired from traveling and saw there was a Nepali restaurant close to our B&B, so we gave it a try. On entering we already felt like we were back in Nepal! A delicious Thali and an Everest beer for old times sake. Very friendly wait staff made for a very pleasant evening.

Wanted a Ruby after a day exploring york before we headed off home. Reasonably priced . Food was OK. rerely, you leave a curry house hungry. Job done.

Excellent food. Particularly enjoyed the butter chicken and lamb korma. Naan was very nice too. Service was very pleasant and friendly. Prices reasonable. Three of us had a lot of food, and it all come to under 70 quid. Great!

We stopped here for dinner tonight, our first dinner in England after arriving from the United States earlier in the day. The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff is very attentive. We tried momos which were very yummy. Highly recommend this restaurant. Very reasonably priced, too.

We had an excellent dinner at Taas. We had the Saag, Tandoori chicken, chicken Tika and the dumplings. All were excellent. The service was terrific. Very nice evening. Highly recommended.

The best restaurant with Indian and Nepalese cuisine! Very delicious food and good service. We stay two days in York and after first try decided come back for next day dinner too. We had momo with lamb, butter chicken, chicken Tikka masala, saap/palak paneer and garlic naan. Momo's level is OMG! Highly recommended

One of the best curries I’ve had for ages. Very reasonable for York and open on a Sunday evening too.

Excellent no frills Nepali food in the middle of York! The waitress was very detail oriented and noted spice levels on everything we ordered! Highly recommend the chicken momos. The daal/lentils were delicious and hit close to home! Service was friendly and fast. Highly recommend.

Wow . We have visited York many times and always eaten the usual Mediterranean style or larger chains however while strolling around looking for something new we stumbled across TAAS although a little apprehensive as spicy food is not our go to we ventured in . On entering the welcome was very warm the staff were quite charming and sat us at our table they explained the various dishes to us and then asked what sort of spice level we liked and gave us a scale from 1 to 10 being new to this sort of choice we opted for 5 on hearing this the table next to us gave a sharp intake of breath and recommended 3 if we weren’t used to spice so following their advise we chose this option . The food arrived and wow it was fresh piping hot and perfectly spiced for our pallet. We could not believe such a gem was available in York we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and we be visiting again when next in York thank you for such an awesome dining experience bravo to all the staff

Absolutely delicious food. Never had Nepalese but the menu has clear descriptions and they cook it as hot as you like from 1-10. Will,definitely make a beeline for there again when in york.

Appalling service and no real apology for cold food or the one and a quarter hour wait between courses. Th quality of the food was good, A pity that the evening was spoiled by the service.

Been once before and always very pleasant service. Food arrived in good time and as previous visit very tasty indeed and no complaints in that dept. Could do with an eye on the interior as the atmosphere is very much part of the experience.

We walked in with a party of 6 on a wing and a prayer (valentine's night) but they managed to seat us straight away which was great. Service was brilliant, all the staff were friendly and even helped some of the party choose a dish as they were struggling picking a main. Food came out quickly and was amazing. Visited here last Friday for a birthday celebration and was really looked after. On arrival was shown to our window table by a lovely woman and a birthday card was waiting for us. We all ordered different dishes and each one was lovely especially the dumplings. Food was fresh and delicious. Drinks were very reasonably priced so was the food and the ambience of the place was good. The staff were amazing and even presented me with a birthday ice cream while singing happy birthday which made it a lovely occasion. Well worth a visit and hopefully we will return again when in York.
