The best restaurants serving Indian food in York Yorkshire and The Humber

Awful food, please do not waste your money here as the dishes are tasteless and if you know the real taste of Indian food, you will know it's a scam. Please visit a restaurant which is authentic and prepares quality dishes. The owner strolls about in casual clothes with a morbid face like a smile will cost him more than a portion of his disgusting lamb chops!

Food was ok portions were small especially the starter. Curries need more sauce with them too dry for me. It was a Monday night so can't really comment on atmosphere three diners only. Prices for starter average, curry above average price and roti way too high in price. So mixed kebab 5.50 chicken buna 10.50 and two roti 5.50. This is my second visit don't think I will be back unfortunately.

Ordered food for delivery, direct from their web site. It arrived in a timely manner however, 2 items missing. Phoned them to let them know and they apologised and said they'd send them straight out. Get a phone call 10 minutes later apologising that they had missed 2 items and would be sending them out again. Fair enough, neither hand knows what the other one is doing. It happens. Food arrives. They've sent 1 of the 2 missing items. Give up. The other food is now cold. Wont bother ordering again from them. There are other restaurants

Our first visit last night, WOW the food was the best we’ve had in a long while, the staff were really friendly and the restaurant immaculate

Surprising and happy find. Looking for a curry near our bnb we cane across Woodthorpe Spice. We had the Prawn Patia and Samosas for a starter - both excellent, the prawns in particular - followed by Nawabi Lamb and Tangail Lamb. These mains were really well spiced, very tasty and highly recommended. If we lived nearby, I would work through the entire menu - everything looks good and are all so well described.

First visit to The Parvin, and unfortunately it will be my last. I booked a table for Saturday night with a few friends (unfortunately Paddy Fields was booked up), we were seated quickly and drinks orders taken, first red flag was the wrong drink being served. We waited 30 minutes and no-one came to take our food order, so we had to go to the bar to ask for someone to take our order. A further 45 minutes before our food finally arrived, we were the last table in the restaurant to get served, having being seated at 7:30pm, we finally got our food at 8:50pm (and we didn't order starters!) We all ordered naan breads, and they delivered the wrong ones to half of us, which resulted in another 5 minutes wait for the correct ones to be cooked. My lamb pasanda was very tough, and sauce extremely sweet. I had to leave most of it. I've given 2 stars as my friends had better luck with their dishes, and thankfully the garlic and cheese naan was very tasty. We were honestly close to walking out after waiting well over an hour for our food, and had no apologies from the staff for the wait. I definitely won't be returning.

Quality food is served by helpful and polite staff. Five adults with different spice levels and every meal was spot on. One of our group is Celiac and we had no concerns . The staff were knowledgeable and made great menu suggestions.

It was a good time to spend in jaipur with my family really loved the environment and the foods were outstanding and the waiter(russel) is a good guy to be noticed which is very active and polite to the customers although it was a good experience for me and my family to spent quality time ..

Use to be nice. But I think they've got a new chef because it doesn't taste fresh any more. It tasted like curry from a jar!WILL NOT USE AGAIN sorry 😔

I rarely post reviews on Trip Advisor (or anywhere else), but I need to call out this restaurant. It was terrific. The food was outstanding-- and my wife and I are very familiar with Indian cuisine. The service was outstanding as well. It's right outside the York walls so it had the added benefit of being a bit less touristy. Highly recommend.

Picked up a takeaway, coming from the train station. Basically, disappointing. There's much better indian food in York than this, and York isn't exactly a hot bed of Indian food in the first place. Biryani in particular was one of the worst ones I've had anywhere.

This is our new favourite go to Indian Take away! always consistently good food never a bad meal! my favourite is the Chilli & Garlic Balti which is amazing. We always order via the app as you will receive a free pickle tray & a discounted price, its a no brainer! special mention to their own delivery team who are always friendly & pleasant as well as on time! Fantastic 5* food & service long may it continue
