Really nice food and good service on a Sunday evening. The saag paneer was a triumph. Off licence opposite if you want to bring your own drinks. What more can I say?

Naan was dry and very tough, wife curry was bland and tasteless. Mine was ok, but definitely not ordering from here again

Amazing as always just gutted we received a coconut nan instead of a cheese nan we didn’t eat that as we weren’t a fan of it but will return as we love village spice .

Waited well over 2 hours from ordering to been delivered rang twice and still waited an extra 30 minutes after been told the driver was 5 minutes away highly disappointed food was cold

We ordered at 7pm on a Sunday evening and the food was delivered 35 mins later, which was amazing. The food was delicious - tasty and well spiced, and very reasonably priced. We'll definitely be ordering from them again. Thank you!

Absolutely shocking customer service. I have never been ranted to by a takeaway owner before, until I rang up to see where my food was. Which was 1.5 hrs late. The man shouted and was hugely aggressive to me. All I wanted was my food, not an aggressive rant. I actually felt sorry for the guy as anyone this angry has issues.

Rice, Bajis and Samosas were all great. But the Chicken Tikka Buna was Watery and lacked body and flavour. I couldn't really tell it was a Buna or that the chicken was tikka'd.

We have just had one of the best Indian meals we have had in a long time 😋 we have eaten too much though. It was NOT swimming in oil as we have had in the past from other take aways or to hot so you could not taste the spices. It was just perfect, compliments to the chef. They are a keeper. Thankyou for a lovely meal. Sorry no picture we really did eat it all.

Prawn curry had hardly any prawns in and also asked for it medium spice but it was too hot

Wow.... where do i begin. Me and the family visited today and i can personally say that i was amazed. From the friendly staff as well as the fast service and the delicious food, this spot is definetly a go to and you will see me more often. Highly recommended

Just moved to a new home and got their menu through the post. After a recommendation from the letting agent, we decided to order after a long day of moving and it was exactly what we needed. Delicious food that arrived quickly. This will become my regular Indian takeaway. Tasty meals and decent serving sizes.

ordered the food at 6:35 and it is now 8:40 and the food is still not here. called numerous times and he keeps saying 5-10 mins, the first time they said 5-10 mins it was over an hour ago at this point. starting to doubt if my food is ever gonna come. Awful service

Order from here from time to time if my usual is busy and this is only down the street! Will NEVER order again. They are rude and have no respect. Need to work on their communication skills for sure! They tried to do me out of money and when quizzed they take away the discount!! Plus the madras is bad! Not even hot.

Great food and great atmosphere. I came with some friends and we all left feeling very satisfied. The place is bring your own alcohol and glasses are provided. Me and my friends cannot wait to eat here again!

My husband and I love Village spice, we eat both in the restaurant and get delivery. The service is outstanding by Tas and his team. It is BYO booze which is great as it keeps the bill down. We can highly recommend the Chicken tikka madras which my husband says is the best he has ever had. I enjoy a dish called Royal Balti Masala, it is a medium dish with a mixture of a Chicken tikka masala and a Balti, it is superb. Couldn't recommend the place any more highly.

Excellent place I'd you like a very good curry

We chanced upon this remarkable restaurant a few months ago and found the quality of food to be excellent. The staff are really helpful and friendly. We found their website easy to navigate, (better than Just Eat etc.) a great choice of options including vegetarian that never disappoints. Always had speedy delivery of high quality curries, with great presentation and exquisite taste. Highly recommended.

Village spice is a fantastic Indian restaurant. We've overlooked it for years as it's on the other side of York from us and there are hundreds of other restaurants in between. We gave Village Spice a go after running an errand on that side of town and we were getting really hungry. Not only is the food gorgeous, there are loads of special offers to take advantage of. There's a set menu every Monday and Wednesday which is what we had. Its a starter, main then rice or naan for £12.95. The food is incredible, especially at that price. Theres also a collection offer where if you collect 6 times, you get your 7th one free, but the restaurant is too far for that to be useful to us. Handy if you live closer though. The staff are friendly and will adjust meals to your tastes. I 100% recommend.

Inexpensive drinks, very loud music, vintage decor, historic music venue.

Lovely experience, the food was very tasty average sized main portions. The service was excellent. Pickle tray and poppadoms were very nice. If I had to be critical, the starter was rather a small portion (mixed tikka). That's just me being critical, though very tasty. Definitely would go back again, and I would recommend a visit. They are not licensed, so take your own alcohol.

Delicious food cooked perfectly - best we've eaten anywhere

French fries were chewy aside from a few that were entirely uncooked, both curries were watery and the naan bread was plain and bland. The food was delivered within the time displayed on the app but that delivery time was close to 2 hours which is a very long time to wait for entirely underwhelming food. Korma was nice in fairness. Do not recommend even with the 20% discount.

Everything other the the balti butter chicken which had a sour taste to unfortunately had to leave. Shame as usual good!

Food very tomato purée based lacking complex flavours and taste very dissapointed. My partner ordered a different dish and it tasted the same! Terrible really interior was lacking atmosphere and was too bright inside. Positives are the Pakora and Bhajis were OK not good value.

Thought I would try a new Indian as my usual place was closed today. I’ve never had a worse madras than what was delivered. Cheap ingredients and what resembled a paste like texture. Really disappointed and won’t be ordering anything from here again.

Excellent food, but took a while to get to me, with the expected time pushed out then still arrived after that. But it was still hot though, and very tasty.

Disappointing really. The kebab was grisly and the food in general wasn't very warm either, part of one of the dishes went into the bin.

Unfortunately we did not receive the Chicken Tikka Starter. There was a lot of Ginger coming through the meals which did spoil it for us as we do not like it. We tried to pick meals where we thought the use would be minimal. The chicken in the main meals was nice and tender. Overall the Ginger spoilt the meal for us.

Delivery always takes longer than stated when I’ve ordered from here however the food is absolutely incredible, so worth the wait.

Not the cosiest and not the best I’ve ever had but certainly excellent value for money. The staff are super friendly and the food is really quite nice for what this place is! The lamb madras used to be excellent there and it’s definitely a great option for cheap Indian take away. I go there fairly regularly over the years.

First time tried this place and was very impressed! I’ve had curry’s at many places so can compare, it all tasted fresh , tasty and all warm and arrived earlier than expected so really good overall , the only thing that was not so perfect was I ordered a cheese naan and there was a district lack of cheese in it but would eat here again for sure

Really happy with our delivery, food was late but they called to tell us, so not worried - always great food.

Shame when you spend over £30 you don't even get a free popadom had takeaways else where with free dips/popadoms etc otherwise good food
