Fantastic service, best Indian food in York. Recent refurb looks great, nice atmosphere.

Had a great meal good service and just some tasty food

Probably just had the worst Korma in my entire life. It was watery and bland, absolutely no flavour or richness. No authentic flavours just bland like a cheap microwave meal. How are you serving this? Awful first impression for new customer, won't be ordering from here again, don't recommend.

Incidente 1 Pedimos naan simple, y el naan llegó era ajo llamamos gerente para preguntar por qué el pedido era cambios a ajo , dijo que es su recomendación a la cocina y costaría 0 . 5 p. más de lo que costó Naan. ¿En serio? ¿es esto algo correcto? Dijimos por qué no informamos y empezó a discutir arrogantemente sin cantar respeto a las familias, señoras y fue tan incómodo para nosotros. Incidente 2: Los platos de Comedor era corto por 1 , sirvió 7 en vez de 8 , pedimos un plato más dijo arrogantemente que por favor si sabes contar contar contarlo , estaba contando los platos de entrada para platos principales de la cena también extraño ver esto. Luego nos soltamos y comenzamos a comer nuestra cena. Incidente 3 - Mi amigo pidió bebida de Cola y llegó con hielo. Mi amigo revisó el hielo , tiene algún tipo de hongo/cosa desagradable congelada en él , luego preguntó qué es esto y el personal gerente vino y comenzó a explicar esto es científico y tiene que ver con la fermentación del hielo bla bla. Incidente 4: Finalmente cenamos con mal humor y controlando nuestra agresión viendo que nuestros hijos tenían hambre y hacía demasiado frío por la noche , fui a pagar al mostrador sin intención de discutir con el gerente de nuevo pero él comenzó una vez más diciendo que este restaurante es solo para personas blancas y no permitimos que las familias asiáticas / indias en aquí para cenar y él estaba mostrando piedad que nos dejó cenar en los niños debidos. Este comentario racista me hizo más incómodo e intolerable pero debido a los niños no quiero crear como escena y pagué la cuenta y salimos del restaurante sin perder un solo minuto. Por último, diría que el propietario del restaurante si está leyendo esta reseña para reemplazar al gerente con un personal respetuoso que pueda hablar educadamente con el cliente y escuchar sus problemas. Sé que algún restaurante puede tener políticas de preferencia sobre el cliente asiático, así que por favor manténgase las políticas claras en la entrada para que lo tengamos claro y no entraría si este fuera el caso. Si no es tu política entonces no seas racista. No recomendaría encarecidamente a las familias asiáticas que no visiten este lugar si no quieren ser tratados de manera injusta y parcial.

Food might be OK OK. But the staff was very very very very very rude ..they were not ready to give one extra plate instead they were arguing why should I give you extra plate .. we ordered plain Naan instead they returned with Garlic Naan when we asked why... they said its only .5 p more and we are trying to give you the best and not to accept their mistake How rude the staff is they said .. just because you had kids i allowed you to seat otherwise Indians are not allowed in this reasturant

Having signed at suburb indian cuisine, this was absolutely terrible the lamb was not cooked properly was not asked if we have any allergies, the bill for two was over £90, this place was cold and the service was terrible. Soon as you stood up they practically pushed you out the door.

Turned up Friday evening around 9.30 place was empty Service was horrendous Waiter knocked one of the drinks over, wouldn’t replace it and kept it on the bill Questioned the manager he just said it was an accident To top it off they over charged by £20 then denied it, im going to report to trading standards Plenty of better Indian restaurants in York stay away from this place

Very slow service felt rushed bordering on rude, had to ask 3 times for water then another 3 times for a straw, asked for salt by the time we got it we were finished the starter and on top of that found a thick black hair on my main so obviously didn’t eat that, they did take it off the bill but no apology or anything. Wouldn’t recommend I certainly won’t go back

Proper authentic Indian food, courtius friendly staff, well worth a visit

Visited this restaurant last night. I have to say I was really impressed. The service was good. The meal was possibly the best curry I have eaten. I knew it was going to be good when even the pickle tray with the poppadoms was fresh and delicious. I would highly recommended this restaurant.

The food was phenomenal, tasted really well. Lots of menu options, allowing for different combinations of flavours. Very friendly staff. I will definitely visit this place again if I return to York in the future! Authentic indian taste for every penny.

Taste is Okay But not as I expected.

We had a lovely time at this restaurant this evening. All the staff were so lovely and attentive and polite. The food was delicious and for the price we got a lot more food than other restaurants would offer, very generous portion sizes. The menu had so much to offer depending on dietary requirements so there’s something for everyone! Will definitely be eating again here soon. Thank you again!

Absolute pleasure eating here. Food was delicious and for the price it was well worth the money. Great options for vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Owner and staff were lovely, made us feel right at home. Very nice atmosphere perfect for an evening out. Would recommend every day of the week, whether it’s takeout or dine in it’s worth it!! I've been visiting this restaurant for years with family and friends and it has never disappointed me with it's amazing food, with great service and a homely atmosphere. A truly unforgettable family owned business. Absolutely adore the new menu with such a wide variety of authentic dishes to choose from. Can't wait to try it all!

Took my Dad hear for his birthday a couple of weeks ago. I had the chicken madras and treated my dad to the Lobster Moilee which Dad said transported him back to his times travelling with my late mum around India. Really great night and the staff were so friendly. Definitely cummin back when we’re up country again.

Fantastic swift service with very attentive staff. Brilliant food, packed with flavour. I’d never ventured into this Indian before but I’ll be making sure to call in whenever I fancy one in the future. Highly recommended. Ran by a great family as well.

Phenomenal family owned restaurant. Staff are very friendly and provided excellent service. The food is so good and there's so much to choose from with their new menu. My taste buds danced the night away. The atmosphere was very wholesome, calm and authentic. This place is easily in my top 5 restaurants.

Had a great experience at Indian Lounge! The butter chicken was outstanding, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive.

Absolutely fantastic establishment. Brought my family here and the service was impeccable - very rare for many Asian restaurants. We had the chicken 65 starter and hyderabadi lamb shank and WOW! Absolutely fantastic food. We followed up with the ILS biryani, and were not disappointed at all. Anyone who needs a good meal, MUST come here. I cannot stress enough how well the hosts took care of us, and followed it up with fantastic food. The Indian Lounge, we will be there (again)

I’ve been to many curry houses across the world. The The Indian Lounge in York is one of the best. Brilliant food and a good range of choices. I never visit York without going to the Lounge.

There’s a spacious interior and it's the perfect venue for events and large dinners. What’s more the service is excellent and attentive. Whether you're a seasoned curry connoisseur or just dipping your poppadom into the chutney of Southern Asian cuisine, The Indian Lounge promises a night of laughter, spice, and maybe even a happy ending. 10/10 I recommend for everyone and anyone.

We had a lovely meal, excellent starter and main course. The portions were generous. A curry and rice each and a shared naan was ample. The staff were friendly and helpful. Had a nice chat with the owner afterwards.

Intrigued as to how our food bill came to £86.60 when eating here yesterday evening with our 2 children, we shared x 2 starters and x 2 curries and sundries and according to the menu this should of come to £44.75 so it looks like we were charged the additional £41.85 for x 2 pints of lager, a diet coke and a lemonade absolutely scandalous! When my husband was taking his time looking at the bill to query it we were advised we could not take the bill with us and provided a VAT bill that was not itemised. Will not be eating here again!

The food was great, service wasn’t bad either. This is the place I’d go for proper Desi food. The place is still being constructed by the looks of it though, wasn’t a problem for our group though.

Have been choosing to get takeaway from here for years now as the food is delicious and they are always so generous with their portion sizes. You get a lot of amazing food for the price. Clearly marked allergens on the menu and have never once had a reaction as someone who is gluten free (coeliac). I've only been to dine in once and the venue was okay, but I'd just really recommend their takeaway service. Excellent!

SAME FOOD IN BRADFORD, BETTER QUALITY AND TASTE WOULD BE £60. VERY POOR. STAFF WAS AGRESSIVE WHEN CHALLENGED ON THE COST. The worst indian food I've ever had! Ordered a takeaway and asked for the food to be certain way. Soon as I opened the container it was seeping with oil. I ordered a lamb jalfrazi and I'm 100% saying this was beef not lamb many indian restaurants do this to keep cost low but obviously I could tell it was beef. I ate half a naan with this dish boy did I regret it I was woken up this morning with severe stomach cramps and diarrhoea. This place needs to be investigated by health officials! The toilets the kitchen need to be inspected ASAP. You are a disgrace to call yourself a indian resturant!

We decided to go in here for a meal after the gosht walk . We was shown to our table very quick on ordering drinks we was told they didn’t sell alcohol an was told we could go an buy a bottle off wine at the local shop . On arriving back to the restaurant we ordered our starter an was given poppadoms which was very nice the starter was lovely the curry also lovely . The staff was really pleasant we had a lovely time .

We were visiting York and missed having Indian food so we decided to look for an Asian restaurant. We walked towards this place and decided to give it a try. We were shown quickly to our seats and given the menu to choose. Whilst we were choosing our food we were given poppadoms. The food we ate was lovely, it could have been spicier but we still enjoyed it. The food price was reasonable too.

After looking at the menu in the window, we noticed a mixed starter for two being necessary for the meal. Shown to our table, albeit a bit tight on my side, ordering went smoothly. Delicious popudoms with lovely dips. Allowing us to take our time ordering the main course, the starter was a delight. The main course arrived swiftly, probably because they were closing soon on a very wet Saturday in July. Asking for a tip on the debit card, I declined. £52 was enough to send!!

A very poor experience unfortunately. The lamb was so tough it was inedible. When I spoke to the waiter to complain he was very rude (I found out after he was agency staff). I spoke to a more senior member of staff before leaving who was very sympathetic to my complaint but didn't offer any resolution. Not somewhere I would recommend.

Me and some friends had a weekend in York and had our final meal here. Normally a good curry is full of flavour, this place was lacking on all of ours and one had to be sent back, the nan bread was ok had no beer tap or bottles. We found the staff a little blunt too. What a shame for what we had to pay..

The starter was pointless. The smallest amount of sauce in the pickle trays as to render the popadams inedible. I’ve never received such a poor amount in a pickle tray. I’ll be going back to the viceroy for my Indians again as they are far superior.

We have eaten here 4 times, always had lovely food and found the staff extremely pleasant and friendly.

Came here for a works related birthday meal. It's a no frills good Indian restaurant. The place was clean and the food good. Despite there being quite a few of us the service was quick. I've seen lots of comments about staff stood watching people eat and I noticed two staff stood to the rear of us but were simply being attentive should we have needed anything. Would return.

Wish I had read the reviews before went here. They are all true. Been to York many times had many wonderful Indian meals but this was awful! Cost £48 feel like I have been robbed. They asked if all was ok I just said yes as there was no point getting into it. Tasteless expensive and No atmosphere.

We have been here a few times now and now I think I should speak my mind. I really do think as a couple (two males) they tar you as the same brush! From the minute we arrived here we were sat by the front of the restaurant (as usual). We ordered and from the moment we got our food we were watched like a hawk from start to finish and I mean watched like a hawk. I’m sure they think that we were going to do a runner. Asked for the bill and was presented with bill and asked do we want to leave a tip? Are you joking? Erm no thanks! Absolutely 100 percent will we ever come back here again! Food isn’t all that to be fair?

I looked at the reviews for this restaurant as me and my wife sat down to eat here and I saw it had quite a few negative reviews and I in no way cast any doubt over those reviews. If those people had bad service they should highlight it as they did. I can only speak about mine and my wife's experience eating here and it was brilliant. We walked in without a reservation, were seated straight away by a lovely waiter and served lovely food at decent prices. Overall a brilliant experience and we would definitely eat here again.

Dropped in on a Friday evening without a booking, and we were found a table without fuss. Immaculate white table linen, no easy in an Indian restaurant. The mixed starter was exceptional. The two different chicken curries were tasty and plentiful. Service could have been better it was a little bit fragmented at times, however, all in all, a good night.

Six of us dropped in on the off chance they could accommodate us, and they did. The meal was excellent, and all of us were pleased with the quality of the dishes on offer. Drinks prices were reasonable. It would have been a 5, but the service was a bit amateurish.

We visited tonight as a couple, walk in with no reservations but wasn’t exactly busy. 3 or 4 tables occupied, we ordered poppadums and a main course. The poppadums came instantly followed by 2 rounds of drinks. An hour passed and no sign of our mains whilst people who arrived 30 mins after had their starters. When these people received their mains was when we decided to leave. We paid for our poppadums and drinks. Ours wasn’t the first order they messed up that night, the table opposite got 3 naan breads despite ordering only 1.
