Sylhety Lounge in York

I don't normally have time for review but I can't recommend this place enough. Service was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly and the food was simply outstanding. This is the best Indian Restaurant in York, you won't be disappointed when you go there.

Had an early evening meal here on a cold wet Monday. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. We had popadoms and pickles, then prawn on puree (lots of prawns), then king prawn dopiaza and special tandoori balti with a garlic coriander naan and pilau rice. I doubt there is a tastier curry to be had in York. The restaurant is a little hidden away near the university, but on the plus side you can park right outside for free. Well worth seeking out.

This Indian restaurant/takeaway is one of the best in York! We've been in for a meal and had a few takeaways now. Delivery was so quick tonight even in this bad weather. The food was hot and absolutely amazing, we even got a few free poppadoms and a couple of sauces, thank you so much!

Ordered a delivery at 18:13. Delivery in 1 hour and 15 mins (according to app). 19:51 still waiting for food. Food is always of good quality but delivery service is totally unreliable (despite £5 charge)

I've known Aman, Omar and their staff for several years and have diner in or takeaway countless meals since they opened in 2020. The last meal was a takeaway and was beautiful. Indian food is our family favourite and Sylhety Lounge has been our choice for the last 4 years, despite there being 3 or 4 Indian restaurants closer by.

Excellent food. And a personal thank you to the chef for giving us the extras ~ very much appreciated! The food was very tasty and I would recommend to anyone !

FANTASTIC FOOD, good price, lovely staff, eat in or takeaway always Great we go twice a month for a treat our favourite starter is mixed kebab but all good, in fact I think i'll take the wife tomorrow night, enjoy everyone.

Sylhety lounge we've had takeaways & we've eaten in the restaurant everything we've tried has been great can't fault the food if I had one complaint some times it's a little cold sat near the door, all the guys r friendly & welcoming, we've just got back from india & tonight we're having a curry from Sylhety. Sylhety is an Indian restaurant in a small unit which made us a bit unsure at first however it is lovely inside, very clean and pleasant. We received a very warm welcome. Staff were very attentive and have a good knowledge of the food they are serving. The taste buds were certainly stimulated. Good fresh spicy curries obviously as spicy as you require. Good size fresh Naan. Highly recommend Sylhety restaurant, the takeaway side was really busy too, we will be trying a takeaway at some point, but really liked the restaurant so will definitely be back very soon. WELL DONE TEAM they did introduce themselves by names but it was such a good night a little too much wine... i,ve forgotten but as we will keep visiting I am sure we will remember next time!!

Another great night last night at our favourite place. Quiet Wednesday but we have talked about this place so much we had to bring our family from NZ here. Masala fish and onion bajias to start with. Different mains for the four of us and beautifully cooked and presented. Sylhety lounge Special and Sylhety Taste a must. This is s great place and very lucky that it’s practically on our doorstep. Called in as a ‘walk in’ on Saturday we got a table straight away and within 15 mins every table was taken. The food was as delicious as ever, we try something different every time we go and we are never disappointed. Omar and the rest of the staff were as friendly and accommodating as ever. We love this place and looking forward to going again soon .

I cannot stress how good this place is. We don't go anywhere else for curry now. Lots of vegetarian (and SPICY) options for me, and lots of saag options for the Mrs as she loves them.

We ordered takeaway, and it is a reasonable curry. Certainly I've had worse and less authentic, but I've also certainly had better and more authentic.

Have visited many times since this place opened and have also had lots of takeaways from here. It is absolutely the best Indian restaurant in York. As a veggie, some curries can be disappointingly similar but this is not the case here - each one...

My family and I order from Sylhety most weekends and have had the pleasure of dining in a few times as well. I honestly cannot fault the place. The staff are all very friendly and happy to talk, including the head chef if it's not...

Absolutely the worst curry I have ever had. Some cold, rice undercooked, gristly lamb, all totally unseasoned, swimming in oil, wrong curries sent….strongly recommended to avoid this place.

Visit at least once a week. Never had a bad meal. Always lovely food. Takeaway and restaurant. Good portion sizes. Staff really friendly. Definitely recommend.

Ordered at 6pm, confirmed original delivery time of 7pm Was put back to 7.20. Enquired at 7.40 where order was. Told it was on the way. Then was told they had go mixed up and it hadn’t been cooked. Almost 2 hours late so cancelled....

When camping in York we ordered a delivery. It was one of the nicest take aways that we have had in a long time. The food was hot and delicious. Staff honest about delivery and food arrived on time. We look forward to eating here...
