Excellent food and speedy delivery. It estimated an hour but arrived in about 30 minutes

Gorgeous food as usual. Chicken tikka masala and Rogan Josh all aromatic and full of flavour. Fresh keema naan, beautifully tasty crispy onion bhagis. Yum, yum, yum.

Didn’t deliver. App suggests they did. “Restaurant” claims the order was “cancelled”. It was NOT. Didn’t seem in the slightest interested to resolve. ATROCIOUS customer service.

First visit food was excellent probably the the best curry I’ve had for ages, will definitely be back 👍

Food was delicious as always but arrived more than 45 minutes late (which in our experience is the norm!) We will continue ordering from here but will order for an earlier time in future 😆

Ordered food @ 6:50, arrived 3 hours later @ 9:40 Called after waiting over an hour & a half and was told it would be here in 20 min. Called again after waiting another whole hour & was told it’s on its way & that they added in some free stuff as it took so long. All we got added was a portion of 4 onion bhaji’s, there was 5 of us so not even 1 each & i’m sure you get them free with every order, we have in the past anyway. Food was hot & fresh but not worth the 3 hour wait, won’t order again.

Nice small family run halaal restaurant, comfortable and cozy, very large selection on the menu, all well made no complaints amongst a crowd of 9 ppl Eldest Son thought the chicken tikka was a bit bland

This was new find for us earlier this year, after eating many, many curries over the years and sampling most indian restaurants in York this is my new favourite, great food, very tasty, excellent breads. In my opinion you can't ho wrong eating here, and the takeaways travel well too.

This place is by far the best Indian restaurant in York, I ordered food by the chefs recommendation and it was the best curry I have had! The atmosphere was very inviting and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

This by far one of the best curries I have had. I originally from Braford and had some really nice curries. This tops them all. The starters are cooked and made to perfection Curry portion are filling defo worth a try you will not be dissapointed

Ordered from here for years, ordered today via Just eat and they cancelled my order, and told me to order on foodhub, been sat here waiting for it, never ordering again!

He comido y he tenido comida para llevar de este restaurante muchas veces. Anoche tuvimos una comida para llevar y fue muy sabroso. Incluso tuvimos 2 platos gratis tirados en. La comida estaba bien envasada, así que todavía estaba caliente después de 15 minutos en coche a casa. Muy recomendable.

Una de muchas visitas. Esta noche probamos un plato que nunca antes habíamos probado y fue maravilloso... hachís de langostino rey. Se sirvió con el más maravilloso queso nan. No puedo elogiar la comida y el personal lo suficiente!

Simply amazing food, service and prices. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had starters, main and drinks and couldn't fault any of it. All positives from me. I'll definitely be back again.

In York for work and staying within walking distance. Fancied an Indian and so glad this restaurant was the closest. The food was outstanding and the person who served me (I think it was Abdul) was attentive but not pushy. When I'm next up this way I'll definitely be back!

We were served by Abdul, who was lovely, and very warm and polite, and the food was amazing, really delicious. I wasn't sure what to order, so Abdul asked me what I liked and said a Lamb Saag would be good. I asked for a mild to medium, and my curry was the nicest I have had, the lamb tender, and the spicing enhancing the flavour. My husband had a Chicken Balti and loved it. The garlic coriander naan and the chapati were soft and beautifully cooked. We are so glad we took a chance on this restaurant based on great reviews, and will definitely be returning next time we are in York.

Ordered a delivery, the food was OUTSTANDING, and I mean, outstanding, I have eaten from many Indian/ Bangladeshi/ Pakistani restaurants, this one, Sylheti Lounge York, wins hands down. Just need to improve on delivery times!! But well worth the wait. 10/10

Wonderful, thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Delivery was 5 mins early and very polite.

Ended up having to pick our own food up as they could not deliver on time or anytime soon. Then when I arrived home there was items missing from our order. Food was tasty but poor communication and planning

Banging curry, probably the best in york!

Had an early evening meal here on a cold wet Monday. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. We had popadoms and pickles, then prawn on puree (lots of prawns), then king prawn dopiaza and special tandoori balti with a garlic coriander naan and pilau rice. I doubt there is a tastier curry to be had in York. The restaurant is a little hidden away near the university, but on the plus side you can park right outside for free. Well worth seeking out.

Ordered balti tikka masala but was all chicken not mixed

A little pricey for a takeaway but the food is always AMAZING, great portions, fresh & so very tasty.

After reading the reviews we had high hopes . Sadly that was not the outcome . Ordered 3 curries . the buhna and haadi both looked and tasted the same even to the garnish being the same . The one labeled as buhna didn’t even taste like one and that is my go to curry. The chapati was like they had been reheated as even tho hot to start they dried out and went solid before I could even finish plating up .could eat them as they were solid and not soft like fresh ones . We sadlwont be using again .

Really tasty food, very impressed. Took about 25 mins to be ready, then a further 5 minutes waiting at the shop. But I'd rather that than it be rushed out quickly.

Sylhety lounge is our “go to”. Always excellent curries. Always on time with friendly delivery staff. This review was a 4 star rather than a 5 because the item we ordered (Garlic tikka Balti) was described on menu as chicken, lamb and prawn, but the delivered dish was just chicken… There didn’t seem to be any way to ask for one version so assumed all three meat types were included.

Phenomenal food! By far one of the best Indian takeaways in York. Shame the delivery took a lot longer than usual!

Order was late but we were kept informed. Delivery driver was friendly. The portion size was good. I got the king prawn hashnaji, it was lovely. The prawns were massive and well cooked, not overcooked and chewy which they often are in takeaways. I would definitely order from here again if we come back to stay in York.

This Indian restaurant/takeaway is one of the best in York! We've been in for a meal and had a few takeaways now. Delivery was so quick tonight even in this bad weather. The food was hot and absolutely amazing, we even got a few free poppadoms and a couple of sauces, thank you so much!

Ordered a delivery at 18:13. Delivery in 1 hour and 15 mins (according to app). 19:51 still waiting for food. Food is always of good quality but delivery service is totally unreliable (despite £5 charge)

I got the chicken bhuna and it was delicious, a generous amount of meat which was super tender and you can tell they use a good range of spices, the staff are super friendly too, great value for money

Now our favourite Indian takeaway, naans are INSANE light and fluffy full of filling, boss curry is amazing and not one curry we’ve had has had the usual layer of oil on top! Ordered tonight and the free lemon rice was missing, called up to tell them they sent a replacement out straight away with a portion of free onion bhajis as an inconvenience gesture!! Absolutely amazing food, amazing service won’t go anywhere else!!

I've known Aman, Omar and their staff for several years and have diner in or takeaway countless meals since they opened in 2020. The last meal was a takeaway and was beautiful. Indian food is our family favourite and Sylhety Lounge has been our choice for the last 4 years, despite there being 3 or 4 Indian restaurants closer by.

The service was top notch, very friendly and professional. The decor was great and the whole place, including the toilets, was spotless. The food we had was delicious and plentiful. There is one tiny criticism, the chicken tikka in both our dishes was a little bland and not as well cooked as other restaurants but all in all we really enjoyed our meals and if we’re ever in the area again we would eat there again.

The food here absolutely slaps hard, chicken dhansak is the best I’ve ever had consistently creamy, the lentils are beautifully cooked and I love the fact that they leave the pineapple in . Domonomics approved

Are you actually joking. Paid £5 for delivery ordered 1hr 40 before we wanted delivery which was for 8pm on a Sunday. Over an hour late….. not good when you have a lot of hungry people. Would have preferred some respect and a call with more updates on why and when to expect it if it was know to be so late. Food was very very good. Just a huge shame the delivery wasn’t followed up promptly

Very poor curry , had this curry at other takeaways and always good unless the one from here

No issues with delivery but certain parts of the meal were disappointing. The nan bread was burnt and there was no cheese in the bread or taste and the chips tasted like they were warmed up rather than freshly cooked

Disappointed with my order tonight. Placed the order at 6pm, it arrived at 8.20pm. The curries were very good as usual but the poppadoms were smashed & the wrong naan bread was delivered. Not a great experience sadly.

Fantastic food and great service

Consistently deliver great food. Have tried quite a few different dishes, though my son tends to stick to his favourite chicken tikka masala. They are our “go to” take away. We hope to visit their restaurant one day, but their delivery service is hard to beat. Last nights delivery was slightly delayed but we were kept informed and it arrived at the revised time, only 5 minutes later than the the original estimate.

I’m sorry for such a poor review but at these prices, I’m so disappointed. I had high hopes and much of it has gone in the bin. Please can all restaurants also stop charging for things like popadoms which were frankly the best part.

Love the food from here, spoilt for choice. The portions are excellent & packed with ingredients. We live in a village & they deliver to us which is brilliant, sometimes it's a long wait, on this occasion they were earlier, either way, it's worth waiting for. Massive thumbs up from me.
