The best restaurants serving British food in York Yorkshire and The Humber

We visited Corner Grill House with friends. It is fab. 3 of us ate from the set menu, great value at £24. Prawns in white wine, Duck pate, and Flat Iron steaks were great. Porterhouse steak was juicy and tasty. Service was impeccable, special mention to Agata. We'll be back!!

Lovely food. Medium rare steak cooked very well and butter chicken curry was delicious. Excellent service and conversation with Karl. Very personable and made us feel very welcome. Would recommend highly. Thanks again Karl!

Ollie and the rest of the team really made our first but certainly not our last trip memorable. The service was second to none watching the team up and down the stairs working extremely hard to make sure the food was served as fresh and politely as possible. For two people who don’t regularly eat “tea” The white chocolate and cranberry scone and the victoria sponge was so fresh and delicious. Will definitely be back. Thanks for the experience. Loved this little shop! We were drawn inside by the incredible smell of fresh cheese scones. Will be making a regular stop for a cheese fix every time I visit York now! Knowledgeable and friendly service. 10/10. Nom nom! 😋

I found myself having missed lunch with a long time to go till evening meal....and noticed this little gem on the other side of the road. 45 minutes later I was walking out the beneficiary of a superb coronation chicken sandwich (plus salad and coleslaw) and rejuvenating pot of tea. The price was a steal as well. Forget the chains and multiples, one-off businesses like this, passionate about what they do, win every time.

Found this little oasis by accident. Definitely coming back. The staff were very kind and coffee was great too. I enjoyed the gluten free Lichfields salted caramel flapjack.

Go twice weekly and grately missed when theyre not open. Staff are always lovley and welcoming, food is cheap and cheerful. Also they made me a (very yummy) birthday cake. Couldn't ask for a nicer place to eat

Called in here just before Xmas - coffee was perfect! If you like your coffee, this is the place to go. We also sampled the fruit cake - equally delicious. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

As always, Skosh was incredible! Amy was just amazing, as were the chefs - we've been so many times and each time is better than the last!!

Stopped in for a sandwich to eat whilst walking the dog. Had an excellent pork & stuffing sandwich, and was gifted a sausage for the dog! Will definitely be back.

I don't think I've ever written a review this quickly after leaving somewhere. We've just had the most incredible dinner at Legacy for my husband's birthday. We had the water menu - it was perfection. As I said the food was amazing, but the service was faultless. The team that looked after us - Kiera, Hannah, Sam, Lukas and Derek were absolutely wonderful. My husband had a mocktail 'flight' and I had a cocktail 'flight' (expertly made by Kian) to compliment the food - which was an incredible addition to our experience. A definite recommendation and massive thanks for an unforgettable evening.

Nice friendly atmosphere. Two big greens available and a bar. Coaching available. Worth a look!

Honestly love Poppleton Social. They do they best gluten free pizza! The staff are always so helpful and friendly.
