As always, Skosh was incredible! Amy was just amazing, as were the chefs - we've been so many times and each time is better than the last!!

We went here for our anniversary and were seated so we could see the kitchen. The staff were fantastic, full of information and very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. We have already recommended it to a number of people that visit York to try it.

we found skosh while on a city break in York, the menu is amazing covering all the flavours of the world, I love small plates dining, we had the famous egg which was amazing, bloody Mary oysters, corn fritters, feta aguachilli, fried chicken, pork belly and miso aubergine all of which were delicious, we had a cheese course and shared a pudding, everything about skosh was amazing from start to finish., drinks service food ambience and a great table to watch the chefs working. meal for 2 with cocktails and a bottle of wine for 120 quid cannot be beaten, thank you all at skosh

A very diverse range of dishes inviting you to try something new. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the food menu. We sat a table overlooking the kitchen - a very nice spot to guess and get inspired by the chef's creations.

Such a lively place after the refurb, need to book well in advance. They have lots of bar seats available as walk ins. The food is exceptional, service so good, cocktails fab. I have a feeling that prices might increase the next time I visit, so I’m grateful to have experienced it today. Overall, Skosh offers an exceptional Pan Asian dining experience with its inventive menu, elegant setting, and outstanding service. Michelin should definitely consider awarding them a star. It’s a must-visit for anyone seeking a top-notch culinary experience in York.

Unbelievable food and lovely people

I came to skosh after work as a walk in meal. This is literally the best food i’ve ever tasted, everything works so well. the staff are so lovely and the atmosphere is very relaxing!

What an amazing place. I had heard so many good things online but never thought I'd get to visit. We went for a work team meal and had the set menu and the food was amazing. The dishes weren't over the top in any way but were presented beautifully and tasted so good. The flavours were really well balanced and each dish seemed to bring out the best of the ingredients. The staff knew their stuff and were very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend visiting if you can get a reservation.

Skosh is hands down the best dining experience in York, likely Yorkshire as well. I’ve dined here multiple times and everything has been uniformly fantastic. This experience continues the unbroken streak of superlative, imaginative dishes, a thoughtfully curated wine list, as well as sterling service. Skosh has expanded the restaurant space, making it slightly easier to book a spot. I sat in the newer section which still has a view of the open kitchen. I ordered the excellent bread service, and started with the hen’s egg - not an actual egg, but a taste of savory heaven served in an egg cup. Ethereal summer field cheese concoction on top of a crunchy bit of riced cauliflower with apple dashi vinegar - seriously lush! I had another dish classed as smaller - Skosh fried chicken with gohchujang - spicy, sweet, and crunchy - what’s not to adore? The final savory bit - a larger dish Amy (the server) recommended: miso roasted aubergine with yuzu, rosemary, fine beans, and furikake. I’m running out of superlatives - suffice it to say it was a mouthgasm of bursts of flavor with an intriguing mix of textures. Divine. Though I was quite full, I couldn’t resist pudding: hong kong tart with apricot, coconut, and tonka bean. Perfectly sized for a sweet exclamation point to end dinner. I’m already trying to plan my next York excursion - in part due to Skosh. Get yourself there - your body and mind will thank you!!!

The food was lovely and the service was great. The staff were very friendly, especially Amy who was very helpful. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Brought my fiancée here for a birthday treat and what a treat it was! From start to finish, the service was excellent. Waited at the bar whilst our table was getting ready and the bar staff were excellent. Particularly impressive was the fact they were prepared to go 'off piste' and the chap made one of the best vieux carré's I've had the pleasure of drinking! Great menu with a comprehensive Choice of dishes which arrived at proper intervals and tasted delicious! The wine too (Puglia) was served at perfect temperature and complemented the meal perfectly. All was very reasonably priced too for such a classy restaurant. We'll definitely return (as husband and wife!) in the very near future. Can't recommend this place enough! Thank you Skosh! 🙏👏👏👏😋❤️

Great Restaurant. Very beautiful amazing setting as well as Beautifully plated dishes. Just quiet unfortunate one of the waitresses serving us the oyster was racist. It really put us off eating the food after the interaction with her our hunger really went off quiet a shame we couldn't eat any of the 4 starters we order. The rest of the staff were great just a shame the one waitresses had to be like that. Peharps we will pop back when she is not there as we want to try the food. The skosh house beer was top notch. Happy we got to enjoy that at least.

Absolutely splendid. Not usually a small plates fan but this was great. Really enjoyed the trout amuse bouche, lobster dumplings , lamb tartare and miso aubergine. Wine excellent too!!

If we lived closer, I could see this being a regular. Dishes are served tapas style and there is a large variety of creative dishes using quality produce. We particularly liked the egg, fried chicken, heritage tomatoes and the clotted cream soft serve dessert. Corn fritters were very tasty but could have been a bit crunchier. The sashimi of red mullet was more akin to a prawn cocktail in flavour profile, not sure we would pick this one again.

Thank you to all working in 12th July. What a great foodie experience we had. Loved the atmosphere and craic. The menu choice is perfect as is the selection of wines available, including by the glass #love. We enjoyed EVERY morsel placed in front of us. The Hen's Egg was WOW as was the Lobster and sashimi. From a sweet aspect the Choc Mojito *chefs kiss... then with our espresso and exquisite plate of Petit Fours. *does a fabulous food dance

What an experience Skosh is! Was really looking forward to trying and booked quite a way in advance for our anniversary. Beautiful small plates, can highly recommend the duck breast, chicken gochujang, tempura brocolli and pork belly. Everything seems so well considered, maybe an obvious thing to say, but not every considered decision results in such a beautiful outcome. Even down to the crockery choices. I wish it were bigger, the small table for two is small. Some of the seating options are more of bar stool arrangement, which isn't for everyone, me included. Skosh is a real pearl of find in York. Definitely go, it's not just dinner: it's an event.

Always amazing and not as expensive as you’d think.

Beautiful restaurant and food, lovely staff, well run kitchen as it's visible from the restaurant. My only criticism are the stools. I'm average height and my legs wouldn't reach the bar for support (only by an inch) I lost feeling in my legs by the end of the evening and was very uncomfortable throughout. If there was a bar under the table a bit higher that would have helped. Style over comfort I'm afraid. Otherwise amazing

A fantastic restaurant in York. It's quite a dent, but the staff still knows how to make everyone feel special. The food is tapas style. Small dishes that you can share. And everything, absolutely everything, is super tasty. If you are in York try to get a table

Our experience at Skosh couldn’t have been better. They accommodated for us and our 12-week old twins without hesitation, they helped us out on email before the booking and there was even a server at the door to help us in with the (double!) buggy when we arrived. Needless to say the food was delicious. I was really touched they made such an effort for us. Much better than other restaurants in the city who are very vocal about their “child-free policy”. Thank you Skosh!

We have waited a while to go to Skosh and we weren't disappointed. The service was friendly and professional and the food was outstanding. The duck liver mousse on toast was my particular favourite and the birthday cake dessert made me feel like a child again 😊 it was delicious. There was a great selection of drinks and the botanical cocktail was fabulous. We can't wait to return when we can get in again. Thanks Skosh team.

Heaven on plates. So much choice of yummy delights. Blown away by the menu, it is very tempting to over order. Good advice from the waitress was to order 6-7 savoury items. Favourite dishes were the hen's egg, trout, broccoli, and especially the scallop (ordered twice!). Wine list is incredibly reasonable, and plenty of half bottles. Managed to squeeze in a desert of 🍦 Recommend reserving in advance, very busy on Weds lunchtime. We had seats in the new area on rhs of kitchen and had great views of the chefs. Highly recommend 👌

Went for lunch for my wife’s birthday on 13/4 .Excellent food as usual. The hen’s egg is to die for. The tempura broccoli was also very special. Served by Lewis - very patient and friendly. We liked the new layout and hope it is very successful.

Interesting and varied menu. Very unusual and enjoyable. Wonderful staff who are able to anticipate diners needs and display a sense of humour. Always go for the hens egg it's wonderful. Everything is beautifully presented but unpretentious. Went today and it has just reopened after extending into premises next door. Tastefully furnished and decorated but still intimate with beautiful unusual food. Friendly staff well worth a visit.

We had the most beautiful lunch at Skosh to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We’ve been wanting to go for ages and it was well worth the wait. We had a table at the kitchen bar which was a real treat. The food was exceptional, (especially the brill sashimi and the glorious mango lassi and saffron custard donuts). The service was friendly and attentive without being over bearing….what a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

The most remarkable meal we have had in a long time. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left the experience was magnificent. The wait staff were world class, totally knew their product and extremely attentive. Sitting at the open kitchen (which is a must btw) was pure theatre. The chefs were so well organised, calm and so very knowledgeable. A brilliant experience and would DEFINITELY recommend!

I visited in June 2023 Skosh is a place I had been eager to visit for a long time. We lived out of the country for a while so the opportunity never came. When we moved back it was a high priority, and it exceeded all expectations. Go! The Good -The food. As with all the greatest restaurants, the food does the talking. The menu is mostly made up from small plates. Choose 5 or 6 to share, and allow the chefs to showcase their talents. Incredible. -Location. Set in the heart of York, a short walk from the station -Staff. Friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. This is a relaxed place, suited for soaking up the atmosphere of the open kitchen. -Atmosphere... as I was saying. When it gets busy there's a lovely gentle bustle and buzz to the place. The Bad -Oh please... maybe waitlists? But thy enhances the anticipation. Better get booking Greg's Tip Book for lunch, midweek if you can

Had the most amazing time here. The service (including communication via email) was superb. The restaurant is cosy and intimate. The head chef is visible.. as are his staff... so amazing to see everything being created. The food is top-notch. 1 Mich 🌟... should be more. The menu is fresh... creative.. inventive and exciting. Fresh food... provenance clear to see. The best food I have ever eaten/experienced. The smile/contentment on my face was captured on my wife's phone! This is the number one place to eat at in York. An experience.

Food is on another level. Good selection of drinks. Always come away amazed. Friendly staff, casual atmosphere. It's not cheap but I consider it excellent value given the quality, especially when compared to what's on offer from other fine dining restaurants. Book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Extremely enjoyable dining experience. Although very busy, we never once felt rushed, each and every flavour could be enjoyed and didn’t get overwhelmed with others. We have visited quite a few Michelin starred restaurants over the years up and down the country; we would certainly put Skosh in front of most of them. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Absolutely fantastic!! The staff are extremely welcoming, professional and courteous. The food was delicious and I love the concept. One of the best eating experiences I've had and I highly recommend it to anyone. We sat next to the kitchen area and it was wonderful to watch the chefs at work.

Me and hubby have been wanting to visit Skosh since we read Jay Raynor's review some years ago and it didn't disappoint. When it says 'small plates' there is more than enough to share between 2 people and unlike some other 'small plate' establishments, you do not leave hungry. Even so, it isn't 'style over substance' either, every plate exploded with taste and was beautifully presented with little surprises hidden here and there (I won't spoil the fun). And it's not only the food that delivers, a welcome change is that the majority of the wines can be bought by the glass so you can either stick with what you like or change it up with what you are eating (can recommend the 'Amstramgram Pomone' which went with all the savoury dishes we had and the Gruner Veltliner, which paired beautifully with the Baron Begod cheese and truffled toast!) We sampled around half of the menu so we have the joy of looking forward to a return visit to taste the other half (or maybe even a completely new menu?). Book your table now:)

We have been twice now and been so happy both times. It is like going on a culinaty adventure with delicious little surprises lurking all over the menu. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and their service is top notch. You will not regret! Updated review: returned for the first time post pandemic and delighted to find nothing has changed, at least in terms of atmosphere, quality and imagination. The menu has of course moved along, but my goodness it is all still so good. Food that delights and intrigues and surprises. Book a table, you will not regret!

We were looking forward to going to Skosh for its interesting approach to food. What they have is essentially tapas-style - small plates. The food was presented well. It all looked great. But we felt that it was lacking in... "flavour" (for want of a better description). It was all nice - but not a single dish had that "wow" factor. It's a pity. We were really excited to come here but left a little disappointed. Skosh has a lot of good reviews on here. Did we just come on a bad night?

Where to begin. Skosh is an experience worth the hype and money. Don’t skip the magical hen’s eggs and be sure to order the Jerusalem artichoke and salt-baked celeriac dishes. The crab papads didn’t have much flavor. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive throughout our meal. To note, I do not recommend reserving a “kitchen” or high top table for your meal because the tables are quite small and the tall seats are not comfortable for a full dining experience. It was however fun to see dishes before ordering them. Highly recommend Skosh; be sure to reserve!

This is an outstanding, terrific solid gold taste sensation. Must be the nicest place to eat in York, and I've tried quite a few! Unassuming yet sophisticated cafe vibes bely a hardworking kitchen and waiting staff to bring you magnificent menu combinations throughout your meal. I'm sure the menu changes regularly but the char siu belly pork with gooseberry and baby gem was mouthwatering, plaice in tandoori butter with pureed lime pickle also exceptional and even the humble Jersey royals were elevated by the taste combos of marjoram and spring alliums on offer. The green beans with pickled watermelon, Thai basil and satay cream was gorgeous too. Sourdough bread fresh and warm, served with butter and gunpowder salt. Yum. Decent wine selection here too and cocktails looked pretty good - I'd have had one if it wasn't lunchtime, but I was considering it... Look at the attached menu, see the photos and go and eat here. I'll be back.

All aspects of our experience were terrific. Char-siu pork, the quail and the chocolate torte were particular highlights for me but it was all excellent (got about 7/8 dishes). Good wine list. Small but interesting selection and good quality. Service was top notch throughout. Been looking forward to a visit for ages and it didn't disappoint. Will absolutely be back.

Had an exceptionally good lunch here - I would contemplate travelling from London again just for this. There was a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff, but most importantly the food was outstanding. The best restaurant meal I've had in ages.

I’ve eaten here twice so far, and am already looking forward to my next visit! This is absolutely delicious food in a really laid back and friendly atmosphere, for REALLY affordable prices. We came in in shorts and tee shirts for our lunch and the people working were so lovely, explained how it worked, the local dishes, and were really good at suggesting things to try for mine and my partners dietary needs. Also the cocktails were really tasty!
