Clifton Tearoom in York

I found myself having missed lunch with a long time to go till evening meal....and noticed this little gem on the other side of the road. 45 minutes later I was walking out the beneficiary of a superb coronation chicken sandwich (plus salad and coleslaw) and rejuvenating pot of tea. The price was a steal as well. Forget the chains and multiples, one-off businesses like this, passionate about what they do, win every time.

Would give more stars if possible!!! This place is an absolute treat, the owners are friendly, polite and very customer led. They go above and beyond to make your time in the tea room very relaxed. The food is absolutely amazing, tasty and piping hot. The banana cake and recently added cheesecakes are to die for. Would 100% recommend this to anyone that will listen!! I have no photo to add as the food is too good to not eat straight away

Lovely burger and chips. Very fresh and tasty. Cakes here are also amazing. A perfect place to grab lunch on the go or to eat in.

This place is hidden inside the cake/sandwich shop (Clifton Catering) at the back and only has 3 or 4 tables. We always go here when we are visiting York. A full English breakfast and a drink for just over a fiver! The staff are great and the food tasty. Well worth a visit

I often have a breakfast or get a sandwich from my local cafe. The staff are always friendly and chatty and the food is freshly made with quality local ingredients...and probably under-priced! The owner runs an excellent catering business as well. Recommended.

I often call in here for a sandwich, The staff are friendly and chatty, the food always looks fresh. I usually get a bacon, tomato and brie toasted sandwich, they are fantastic. I was in the other day and was taking to a lady who had used them for outside catering and said it was second to none. The prices per head seemed very reasonable. Keep up the good work
