The Old Butchers Coffee Shop in York

Gyros was nice but the place is not child friendly or adaptive. Asked for a child’s tuna sandwich which arrived, two plain slices of bread with dry tuna placed in the middle. No sauce or butter. Was shocked on paying to be charged £9 for this, and when questioned was told we COULD have had the full tuna sandwich on home made bread and side dish so that’s why it was still full price. Very over priced and not child friendly menu.

Nice atmosphere and family friendly. Very accommodating with tweaks to meal ingredients. Friendly staff and efficient service.

5/5 best breakfast in York. Order eggs Benedict - better than many in SoHo and Mayfair! They make their own hollandaise, and is delicious. Jess is very hospitable and you are always welcome. Coffee is fresh, strong and brewed well. Cannot fault. Lovely little place and great experience.

Amazing food with great service! We booked for a lunch of 4 and what a fabulous place it was. The food was prepared fresh and tasted just perfect! Such a great asset to the village, we will definitely be back and soon!

Absolute gem of a restaurant, found by chance on way over to east coast, fabulous food and excellent service. Kids gave it 100 stars!

We are four friends who have just enjoyed a lovely lunch at this Bistro. We all opted for something different and the clean plates show how much we enjoyed the meal. It is fantastic that this Bistro is local to us and we will definitely be back!!

We went here for my partners birthday evening meal. A lovely , warm , friendly atmosphere with an excellent host who took time to make sure our visit was a great experience and welcomed us with a smile and some good conversation. The food just took us right back to our holidays in Greece and was so much better...who knew we would find this hidden gem on our doorstep! Thank you Bistro66 :)

Super friendly service, a nice setting and lovely italian/greek food made our visit special. We had cheesy garlic bread, 2 pizzas, ice cream and drinks. All desserts are made in house. We were early diners. The good food means this restaurant deserves to be busier than it was yet made to feel very welcome. Will return.

Just had a lovely meal, chicken gyros with halloumi, we really enjoyed it, the dessert was really good too! Will definitely recommend to people I know!

What an absolute gem of a place this is! We went to 66 Bistro for lunch yesterday and it did not disappoint. The staff were immediately welcoming and attentive throughout our visit, and it is clear they have poured their heart and soul into this venture. As for the food, the chicken gyros with home-made marinade was delicious, as was the Al Tonno pizza. But make sure you save some room for pudding! Our waitress’s family recipe tiramisu and the ekmek kataifi were both sensational. The maître d’s coffee art is also something to behold! A very warm welcome awaited us on our first visit to this wonderful bistro. We were a party of three and we really enjoyed both the food, the hospitality and the overall ambiance of this venue. We ordered chicken gyros, moussaka and pizza for mains with a Greek salad, a beautiful bottle of Puglian wine and other drinks besides. We finished with the tiramisu and the ekmek, both were truly outstanding! Would we return? Absolutely! Thank you Janus and Jessica for a wonderful evening of great food, we’ll see you again very soon.

We have had take away and have eaten in the restaurant and the food is consistently delicious. I particularly like the moussaka and the tiramisu. The service is always warm and friendly and the atmosphere relaxing. A great little bistro with an enticing menu!

Wonderful little place and definitely the best pizza and tiramisu in York! The staff are really lovely and the bistro is open from 10am until late. Would 100% recommend.

Estábamos en Dunnington por mi marido. Queríamos un café y nos habíamos dado cuenta de la cafetería cuando pasamos antes y que tenía varias mesas afuera. Volvimos un poco más tarde y afortunadamente logramos conseguir una mesa (Al fresco) debido a este estúpido virus Covid). Pedimos 3 sarnies de salchicha, zumo de naranja y 2 cafés con leche.En primer lugar, el café con leche fue uno de los mejores que he probado, por lo general tengo que poner azúcar / edulcorante, pero es perfecto sin él.Luego vinieron las salchichas sarnies, oh mi pan de tope con abundantes sabrosos sasusages condimentados. Mi hijo de 10 años se burló de todos y eso es decir algo.Para terminar, también nos ofrecieron una tarta reducida para llevar, que era una desffo - Tarta de café que se resiste y se disfrutó por la tarde en casa.El único punto negativo fueron las gotas de lluvia, pero bueno, en estos días con Covid, etc., fue solo el paraguas levantado y continuar como lo hacemos los británicos.Visitaré nuevamente cuando estemos en la zona, tenemos que apoyar a los independientes ya que los tiempos son difíciles y estos fantásticos cafés serían una gran pérdida.

First time we went we had an amazing full english with all the trimmings, perfect! We have since got brownies, cakes and sandwiches from this place and as soon as this lockdown is over we will be paying it a visit!

This coffee shop is so welcoming and deservedly popular. The food is excellent, do try the eggs. It is very clean and comfortable and the staff are all helpful and smiling. The one place I would not hesitate in recommending.I return as frequently as possible.

We visited for a family Christmas lunch, the week before Christmas. Our table was waiting for us, complete with crackers and Christmassy touches - very welcoming. We all had a turkey dinner, and the owners were fully accommodating of our small children - bringing small plates etc. The food itself was faultless - we all commented that it was actually the best restaurant Christmas meal we’d had - absolutely perfect roast potatoes, veg cooked to perfection, delicious gravy - we were really impressed and hope to repeat the experience next Christmas!The staff and cook obviously work very hard, the place was full and they were non stop. To produce food of such high quality even when busy really is impressive. Thank you to all at The Old Butchers - a little gem of a place.

Full disclosure, this is my sister-in-law... but this is a lovely place to spend an hour of quiet natter. Everything shouts “homely” and “homemade” and top of the list is cake. Simply delicious and perfect with coffee or a brew. A great addition to the village x

Being Tuesday the Cross Keys Pub was not serving food,we had stopped in Dunnington on on a road trip,t he waiter in the pub directed us to The Old Butcher s Coffee Shop ,my Wife had a jacket potato myself a breakfast sandwich one tea one coffee great service and prompt , thoughly enjoyed our snacks

Cosy cafe with friendly staff & good choice of food on the menu. Great egg & bacon butties & fresh, warm scones. Didn't have one this time, but the cakes looked delicious. Cyclists very welcome!

the cafe normally closes at 2 on a saturday tothe general public. They take private bookings from 2pm We had a baby shower for our friend, party of 14 of us. a few of us had afternoon tea, some a ham salad. It was a lovely couple of hours . £15 a head Once we had been served the staff left us alone to enjoy our chatting

Very friendly staff. Cosy venue with choice of easy chairs, bar stools or kitchen table and chairs. Menu choice good and food fresh and well presented.

Great little cafe which makes fantastic bacon sandwiches. Friendly staff and reasonably priced. Seating outside now makes it good with dogs.

Llamado en la mañana del maratón de Yorkshire, las colas se extendían por la calle. Decidimos unirnos a la cola que fue atendida rápidamente por personal que estaba tan tranquilo bajo presión y que era encantador arrancar. Pronto tuvimos deliciosos cafés y excelentes pasteles. Una buena tradición de Yorkshire, se sirvió una gran porción de queso con el pastel de frutas: el cielo. Finalmente, el baño era muy inteligente y estaba impecablemente cuidado, un crédito para todos. Gracias por una experiencia encantadora.

This cosy cafe, in my opinion, is by far the best within at least a 20 mile radius. Great staff, locally sourced produce where possible. Excellent food, home made unusual cakes and scones. Well worth a visit. Very tasty food, nicely presented and well cooked. First class coffee and lots of choice for the teas. What's not to like.

Found this lovely cafe driving through a pretty little village called Dunnington. York.Wonderful cakes, sandwiches and smashing peppermint tea to boot.

After a visit to the excellent Fabric Gallery across the road it was time for lunch at the Old Butchers. Food was freshly cooked and really tasty. Excellent tea and coffee too.

I rang with 15 mins notice to say we were a party of 12 who would like to come to lunch. They were very helpful, reserved some tables and greated us warmly. Food was all home made, came quickly and was delicious. Service was excellent and great choice of options on menu. Thoroughly recommend it.

A sweet little place, quite nicely decorated, decent coffee and to quote my husband, “the scones are very good”! We didn’t have a meal but the meals looked really good and the staff were very friendly. It is a little dark at the back but lovely in the window with a beautiful view of Dunnington houses. Not a destination coffee shop, and quite small, but if you are nearby I would recommend. A gorgeous little place.

There is plenty of choice on the menu. The food is great, local produce used wherever possible, well cooked, nicely presented and tasty. Staff are very friendly. This cafe will soon be a favourite spot for lots of people and pretty soon you will be hard pushed to get a table around lunch time. Coffee is great. Well worth a visit.

We have visited the old butchers shop of several occasions now and each time seems to get better & better. The ladies who run this café are welcoming, hospitable and just want you to have a good time. The food is all home made......you’ll realise this when you visit! As for the menu......you’ll be a couple of pounds heavier on the way out. Many thanks to all of you and we wish you all every success for the future.

Travelled up to Dunnington to visit one of the local businesses. Having parked the car we spotted The Old Butchers Coffee Shop and gratefully entered for sustenance following our protracted car journey.

Fantastic little cafe in a lovely quaint village called Dunnington off the A166, well worth turning off for, we got fantastic service, great food and it’s in a beautiful location and it really was a butchers shop! Very accommodating for the kids would highly recommend

Brunch has to be eggs benedict...…...I've had them all over the world. Here they were simply the best I've had. Perfect poached eggs.
