Little Italy in York

Went for our anniversary dinner, as we do most years. Absolutely delicious fresh food all round. Good quality wine at a cheap price. Food is 5 stars, service very good but could be friendlier. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful dinner at Little Italy. The upstairs room was warm and homey. The food and service wonderful. The next night we went to another recommended restaurent, we wish we had gone back to little Italy again and tried other menu options. We highly recommend Little Italy.

Outrageously delicious fresh pasta. Fantastic menu - the recommended special starter, Arancini in Bechamel sauce was incredible. My main of gnocchi with Gorgonzola, mushrooms and walnuts was a perfect winter warmer. Great service too from Stefano!

I came here with high expectations being from a Calabrese family. I was definitely not disappointed. Felt like being back in the south of Italy. Food was fantastic and Giovani and the staff treated me like I was family. If you want true Italian culture and food you need to visit!

Best Italian restaurant in York. Authentic, fresh and very tasteful food. Pastas al dente. And very good housewine. The price is a bit higher than other places in York but totally worth it! And you have to try their limoncello tiramisu…..

Great food but expensive for York

After a week traveling around England, starting from London, we found true Italian cuisine in York. If you're looking for REAL Italian food and you're in York, eating here is safe. A "little Italy" in York which is the Top for food, service and environment. Ps. Sicilian gnocchi and fabulous mushroom ravioli 🤩

Simply the best Italian meal we have eaten in years The food was of the highest quality The pasta was simply Devine The steak was perfectly cooked and could cut it with a spoon it was so tender The service on an extremely busy night was simply outstanding We were down stairs by the door and it felt like a truly little Italy experience in any of the worlds big cities I can’t wait to return

Having lived in York for over 20 years this was our first visit to Little Italy. It certainly won't be our last. Saturday night was vibrant, the place was buzzing, the service was excellent and the food was simply stunning. Fabulous !

A lovely place to be, excellent service and delicious food. We had starters, mains and a bottle of wine. There was more food than we could eat but it was really tasty

We were glad we had booked for a Monday evening since they were turning others away. It is definitely Italian with the staff and food emphasising that. The minestrone soup starter was excellent and so was the Funghi con polenta tartufata (mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce). Both portions were generous, but that did not prepare us for the mains which were a struggle to finish. We had RAVIOLI AL PORCINI (mushroom ravioli) and MISTO DI PESCE (a giant selection of mussels, scallops, prawns and squid). The house red was very good and washed it all down wonderfully. Was there going to be room for a dessert? Just room for an affogato al caffe and two spoons. Definitely recommend but don't forget to book!

Cozy and very pleasant atmosphere. I had bruschetta starter, pasta arrabiata as a main course and tiramisu for dessert. The food was typically Italian - very tasty.

Delicious, authentic, friendly, fantastic - still my favourite Italian restaurant in the UK! Exquisite homemade pasta, perfect Italian hospitality and just a thoroughly enjoyable evening out. Be sure to book a table in advance or risk disappointment at the door!

The menu clearly said all main dishes come with a choice of mixed salad or chips, but when we ask if we could have the salad to go with our main the waiter simply said no to us. If it’s the problem with the menu, it should be properly fixed. Other tables came after us (about 15-20’) has their drinks and meal before we even have our drinks or starter. The waitress then brought us a bill of a different table which was double the price of ours. Starter was not great but the main dishes were very nice.

Very nice customer-friendly people who work there! And delicious food! We were no longer able to go back for lunch, otherwise we would certainly have done so.

We ate here several times, twice each for dinner and lunch. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and they served us the way we wanted - taking our time. They make good take away sandwiches for lunch. The wine list was good.

Atmosphere, friendliness of staff, and most importantly the food, is always 10/10 . Best Italian restaurant in York, maybe even the world.

In terms of food standards, the pasta is delicious, the portion is quite large, and you will feel full.

Our family of three ordered fillet steak, classic Italian spaghetti sauce, and grilled mushrooms. My daughter is very satisfied with the spaghetti, and my wife thinks the grilled mushrooms are delicious. My fillet steak is tender and juicy, paired with the Italian sauce from the restaurant, it's really delicious. This is the best fillet steak I've ever had！

We become used to many Italian eateries wherever we go. But, then you come across an Italian restaurant that stands above the crowd. Little Italy on Goodramgate in York is one of those. Everything about this visit wad top quality making for a memorable dinner.

Fab independent restaurant, with a lovely atmosphere, food and wine. Good quality menu .we were looked after by Stefano who was very helpful and discussed Wimbledon results. Next time I’m in York will definitely go here .

I brought my management team for an evening meal to thank them for all their hard work, eleven of us were welcomed and looked after all evening. The service from the Little Italy team was nothing short of excellent. As for the food, this is the best Italian restaurant I have eaten at, every dish was delicious and well presented. You can tell when someone cares and it shows. Thank you again for a lovely evening from my entire team.

This restaurant was recommended to us. We booked our table earlier the same day. There was plenty of choice on the menu and the dishes we selected were delicious and generous sized portions. We were served by Stefano and he was knowledgeable, efficient, and very friendly. We will definitely return.

Best Italian food, hands down! Mara was our server and had so many great recommendations. The tagliatelle dettori was the best pasta dish I’ve had in my life. Great flavor of food, cozy, family owned, and right next to York Minster. Can’t wait to come back!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the restaurant last month, and were overwhelmed by the attentive and kind service offered. The food was excellent, and the staff went to so much trouble to ensure they catered for my husband's food intolerance. Had a meal at Little Italy yesterday evening with friends. We wanted a place to spend some quality time catching up over good food and wine. We were served by Stefano. He made us feel welcome and explained the menu and specials to us and made wine recommendations to complement our food order. I have to say it was one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to and I have been to many in Italy! Great food, great wine, fantastic atmosphere and the staff are the best!

Duo mio! My goodness. Honestly, the best pasta I've ever had. And I've had a lot of pasta! Fresh, homemade pasta. Bellisima! The cook is Calabrese, so maybe a little too flavorful for northern Italians, but oh my, absolutely marvelous. We had the antipastini for 2 and the tagliatelle con salsicce e funghi with a bottle of house rosé. It's really a stunning meal. Topped it off with the apple caramel desert with ice cream. Took us 40 minutes to walk the 10 minutes home. Hats off to the Maitre d and serving staff and kudos to the chef. Viva Eboracum!

Great food BUT... Waiter who pulled me up on asking for Parmesan on the mixed seafood because "they don't eat it like that in Italy".. Come on man, it's not like I asked for HP sauce on it. Cheese me up I say.

Our family loved our dinner at Little Italy. The food and service were excellent. They made a delicious bowl of fresh spaghetti for our 6 year old. Our son's lasagna was delicious. My wife had the spicy sausage pasta dish which was equally great. I had a special gorgonzola gnocchi and loved it. Each item was among the best versions I've had. Stefano and all staff provided perfect service. I highly recommend Little Italy.

From start to finish, our meals, the service, the warm welcoming...everything was superb! We truly would have gone there the next night, as well, but we were visiting the area and wanted to sample other restaurants. We enjoyed it very much!

My partner and I ate here last Saturday night whilst enjoying a weekend break in York. Without doubt one of the best Italian meals I have ever had! The staff were brilliant and the atmosphere was a proper authentic Italian family feel. Can't wait to visit York again so we can go back.

Incredible, authentic food with an atmosphere that made the whole experience so much more enjoyable.

They don't do Pizza! They do rather overcooked pasta. I had lasagne and I might as well have bought one from a supermarket. My husband had some other pasta dish and the pasta was waterlogged and without texture. Sorry but I lived in Rome for 6 months so used to good pasta.

Little Italy is the best Italian restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of dining at. The food is rich and flavoursome, but at the same time, it is remarkably fresh. When you eat here, you can tell that they're discerning with their ingredients. That is the first allusion to the authenticity of this establishment. In Italian cooking, chefs notoriously take pride in the quality of their fare. The service is lovely. The staff are warm and polite, always wearing a smile. As well, the atmosphere is very cosy, intimate, and somewhat rustic. I've been told that the majority of the staff here are Sicilian in origin. However, inside, it feels as though you could be in a villa in Tuscany. To make all this even better, they have a delicatessen on the ground floor. So, you too can take their ingredients home and have a go yourself. When I visited Little Italy, I tried three items on the menu. They were: 1) Casarrecce alla Toscana - Containing Tuscan sausage and steak. 2) Mushrooms in Garlic Sauce with Polenta - Rich and top-notch. 3) Bufala Mozzarella - Fresh and light. This was the perfect starter. If you're in York and looking for a good Italian to visit after work... ... Don't go to Pizza Express or ASK Italian. Pay a visit to Little Italy. It'll serve as a reminder that nothing beats the real thing. 🍝

A true Italian restaurant. It's popularity showed by the fact that it was 3pm and standing room only. The atmosphere was great, food delicious and the staff were attentive to all our requests. A+++ all round.

Traditional Italian and superb delicatessen. Food and wine top class, oodles of atmosphere, great service. One small drawback was a group of over exuberant young men but the waiter had a word!!!!

One of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had.

We did not feel welcomed at all, possibly because we appeared to be Asian tourists compared to the other tables. We were polite and tried to be friendly, but we received no smiles. Other tables received explanations of the soup of the day and specials, but we did not. We left quickly, disappointed.

Excellent authentic Italian food. Most highly recommended is their lobster and crab ravioli. The olive bread from the deli is just simply the best.

I was blown away by Little Italy. Best meal I ate in the UK by far! The staff was super friendly and fun to chat with. I started off with their prosciutto specialty appetizer which was delectable, followed by the Pollo Farcito. Everything was cooked to perfection. I even indulged in the Tiramisu Al Limoncello, and it was better than any other tiramisu I've had to date. I would travel back to York just to eat here again!

This place is a lesson in getting things right. Great, friendly service, wonderful, FRESH pasta, seafood, fine wines. The whole thing is first rate from start to finish. Had a great birthday lunch in there. We were probably a bit rowdy, but I think we behaved ok!!! All my mates loved it just as much too. Thanks guys for a first class meal once again.

Travelled to York for a weekend away and arrived at the restaurant on a very busy sat night, to a delay of 45 mins for our table Went for a drink at a pub up the road while we waited a little disappointed with delay. We needn’t have worried the food and evening more than made up for the delay The staff were friendly and apologetic for the delay even while very busy The food authentic home made Italian food which was wonderful

We were looking for a place for a late lunch and were lucky enough to come across this gem near the York Minster. The seafood mix starter was delicious, the aperol spritz was one of the best we have had in the UK, and the seafood risotto tasted amazing. Mara served us with a smile on her face the entire time and we couldn't have hoped for a better meal. Thank you all for this experience

We were recommended to visit this restaurant by some friends and were certainly not disappointed. The whole experience was excellent from the atmosphere, service and especially the food which was delicious; we will certainly return in the future.

Remarkably un-remarkable, very little flavour to the steak sauce.

Delicious Italian cuisine and worked over Easter - so we were really happy. Kids meals are also great - my child asked to go back there for our next meal as it was yummy.

A beautiful and authentic Italian restaurant in the centre of York. Best meal I have had for a long time. The gnocchi was absolutely beautiful. I had my 2 year old daughter with me and the staff were so beautiful with her. Especially Mara who my daughter took such a shine to. She was attentive, patient and just lovely. Would 100% come back. Beautiful place.
