Little Italy in York

Beautiful food and lovely service. All staff were very polite, and the food tasted incredible. Would choose this restaurant every time i visit York and have already recommended to many.

From street level this looks like a shop with a deli bar. But upstairs is a surprisingly old school dark wood dining room. First, we came on a weekday lunch and I think they'd benefit by having a specific lunch menu. They don't, so we were left with the general a la carte. It's not the cheapest, but they do go for the quality fresh homemade pasta angle (no pizza here!). The seafood is good too. The staff are Italian, you get "prego" on delivery of your items and the food is good. The food wipes the floor with Delrios for instance, which seems to be the central York Italian with the best online ratings. Enjoyed the meal, though the coffee was a bit disappointing.

Superb! Visited here in December 2024 as a couple. Food was superb; amazing starters and we mainly had main pasta dishes and they were lovely. Service was really quick, staff were welcoming and friendly. The Décor was really nice and place was clean. If you like pasta dishes I would highly recommend this place. Remember to book a table because they do get busy.

The best lasagne I've ever had! Every bite was a masterful blend of rich, savory sauce, perfectly al dente pasta, and a delightful mix of cheeses that melted in your mouth.

This is a lovely authentic little restaurant and the food is incredible. I highly recommend the mushroom ravioli, and the fillet steak was tender and perfectly seasoned.

Had the lobster and crab ravioli it was delicious, the pannacotta dessert was great to, service was excellent and the wine very drinkable

We had booked fore lunch, when walking in, you think you are in for something amazing, downstairs is like a European Deli, go upstairs for the restaurant. They didn’t seem to know if they had our reservation or not, what we had was bland, certainly was not fresh pasta, Drinks are very expensive for what they are in terms of quality. It was clear they wanted us to leave asap, rather than it being a leisurely Thursday lunch.

Beautiful authentic Italian food. We had the arancini to start and the gnocchi and tagliolini for our mains. The house red was also fantastic. Everything was incredible; food, atmosphere, staff - we’ll definitely be returning on our next trip to York!

Best Italian restaurant I have ever been too.

We ordered the MISTO DI PESCE now on the menu it clearly says Queen scallops (scallops) when we got our meal we had one scallop on our dish. Also if you look at the pictures online it looks like you get loads of mussels, we got alot less than other people had posted. Now I know it was valentines day but its no need to take the piss on portions. Maybe update your menu instead of false advertising! Would have ordered a dessert but the main was such a disappointment we didn't bother. Yes we got a discount on our food after complaining, but should we really be asking for one if the food was that good. I can get a better seafood linguine from florios malton with more seafood in it for £10 cheaper. Don't even bother with this place, over priced food and a rude delusional manager.

Dined here last night. The food was fantastic, all of the pasta is homemade, and it's refreshing to see a menu that doesn't include pizzas (if you want decent pizza, just go to a pizzeria - there are plenty in York!) Shout out to the staff who were especially attentive with our baby boy. We'll definitely be back.

Incredible restaurant, very welcoming upon arrival, love the Deli they have full of fresh pasta and so on and from minute 1 to the end the food and service was excellent. Fantastic fresh Italian food. There was so many amazing choices on the menu but here’s our recommendation: Starters- Muscles (the Specials menu), great potion and it was delicious, my GF went for Antipasti Della Casa, you can get this as a sharing board but they do offer it as a solo option too and again a perfect portion size. Mains- Tagliolini Toscana and Gnocchetti Piccanti Con Salsiccia both again so fresh and delicious. Desert- Tiramisu Al Lemoncello we got this to share and again I’d highly recommend this very sweet dessert. Overall we had an excellent experience, highly recommend it to anyone and we look forward to coming back again soon.

Lovely tasty food, homemade chips (delicious) and great service. Clearly family run with great care. Fresh pasta was beautiful and there was no problem giving my little boy just plain pasta which he enjoyed very much. Thank you. We will return

What a place! Wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for a recommendation from a local friend. No, they don't do pizza, but the real authentic Italian food served by real Italian people in a resteraunt that doubles as an Italian delicatessen during the day is the real taste of Italy.

We visited the restaurant on New Year’s Eve the food was amazing as always and the waiting staff fantastic. We live in York and this is simply the best Italian restaurant to visit the food is always prepared to a very high standard. In sum if visiting York have a meal here you will not be disappointed.

One of the best places for authentic Italian food in York! Food is exceptional, service is great - everyone is welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The downstairs seating area is a bit crammed, I’d recommend them removing a table or two if possible. Overall an amazing place if you’re in the mood for a stunning meal out & you have a preference for Italian.

Little Italy was a recommendation from our hotel receptionist. He was right!. Food was delicious and the staff are the best. Very accommodating with my father in law mobility limitations. Our waiter, Enzo, was friendly and helpful. Thank you for a fantastic experience.

Great little Italian near the York Minster. Food menu was really well thought out with many options making it hard to choose what to enjoy for dinner! Brilliant authentic Italian restaurant. Very good food with friendly, helpful service. Good atmosphere surrounded by items from the delicatessen (downstairs dining). Food at standard equivalent to the best Italian restaurants we have visited in Italy.

Second visit having been here 2 years ago. Food good with lots of choice. Quick to bring out courses and aligned with our progress. Has an authentic deli counter if you need some Italian inspiration. We pre booked and the place was full so I recommend booking.

What a fantastic restaurant, the food was out of this word, probably the best pasta I've ever eaten (& I've travelled all over Italy) I would 100% recommend you try little Italy when in York. You won't be dissapointed.

Went there instead of where we'd originally booked, fantastic food and service. Lasagne was incredible, wife loved the limoncello Tiramisu (beat dessert she's had in years).

So much choice for dining in York but we keep coming back to Little Italy. Food, service and atmosphere as always, first class.

We had a wonderful dinner at Little Italy. The upstairs room was warm and homey. The food and service wonderful. The next night we went to another recommended restaurent, we wish we had gone back to little Italy again and tried other menu options. We highly recommend Little Italy.

Outrageously delicious fresh pasta. Fantastic menu - the recommended special starter, Arancini in Bechamel sauce was incredible. My main of gnocchi with Gorgonzola, mushrooms and walnuts was a perfect winter warmer. Great service too from Stefano!

I came here with high expectations being from a Calabrese family. I was definitely not disappointed. Felt like being back in the south of Italy. Food was fantastic and Giovani and the staff treated me like I was family. If you want true Italian culture and food you need to visit!

Best Italian restaurant in York. Authentic, fresh and very tasteful food. Pastas al dente. And very good housewine. The price is a bit higher than other places in York but totally worth it! And you have to try their limoncello tiramisu…..

Great food but expensive for York

Having lived in York for over 20 years this was our first visit to Little Italy. It certainly won't be our last. Saturday night was vibrant, the place was buzzing, the service was excellent and the food was simply stunning. Fabulous !

A lovely place to be, excellent service and delicious food. We had starters, mains and a bottle of wine. There was more food than we could eat but it was really tasty

We were glad we had booked for a Monday evening since they were turning others away. It is definitely Italian with the staff and food emphasising that. The minestrone soup starter was excellent and so was the Funghi con polenta tartufata (mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce). Both portions were generous, but that did not prepare us for the mains which were a struggle to finish. We had RAVIOLI AL PORCINI (mushroom ravioli) and MISTO DI PESCE (a giant selection of mussels, scallops, prawns and squid). The house red was very good and washed it all down wonderfully. Was there going to be room for a dessert? Just room for an affogato al caffe and two spoons. Definitely recommend but don't forget to book!

The menu clearly said all main dishes come with a choice of mixed salad or chips, but when we ask if we could have the salad to go with our main the waiter simply said no to us. If it’s the problem with the menu, it should be properly fixed. Other tables came after us (about 15-20’) has their drinks and meal before we even have our drinks or starter. The waitress then brought us a bill of a different table which was double the price of ours. Starter was not great but the main dishes were very nice.

Very nice customer-friendly people who work there! And delicious food! We were no longer able to go back for lunch, otherwise we would certainly have done so.

We ate here several times, twice each for dinner and lunch. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and they served us the way we wanted - taking our time. They make good take away sandwiches for lunch. The wine list was good.

Our family of three ordered fillet steak, classic Italian spaghetti sauce, and grilled mushrooms. My daughter is very satisfied with the spaghetti, and my wife thinks the grilled mushrooms are delicious. My fillet steak is tender and juicy, paired with the Italian sauce from the restaurant, it's really delicious. This is the best fillet steak I've ever had！

We become used to many Italian eateries wherever we go. But, then you come across an Italian restaurant that stands above the crowd. Little Italy on Goodramgate in York is one of those. Everything about this visit wad top quality making for a memorable dinner.

Fab independent restaurant, with a lovely atmosphere, food and wine. Good quality menu .we were looked after by Stefano who was very helpful and discussed Wimbledon results. Next time I’m in York will definitely go here .

I brought my management team for an evening meal to thank them for all their hard work, eleven of us were welcomed and looked after all evening. The service from the Little Italy team was nothing short of excellent. As for the food, this is the best Italian restaurant I have eaten at, every dish was delicious and well presented. Best Italian food, hands down! Mara was our server and had so many great recommendations. The tagliatelle dettori was the best pasta dish I’ve had in my life. Great flavor of food, cozy, family owned, and right next to York Minster. Can’t wait to come back!

This restaurant was recommended to us. We booked our table earlier the same day. There was plenty of choice on the menu and the dishes we selected were delicious and generous sized portions. We were served by Stefano and he was knowledgeable, efficient, and very friendly. We will definitely return.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the restaurant last month, and were overwhelmed by the attentive and kind service offered. The food was excellent, and the staff went to so much trouble to ensure they catered for my husband's food intolerance. Had a meal at Little Italy yesterday evening with friends. We wanted a place to spend some quality time catching up over good food and wine. We were served by Stefano. He made us feel welcome and explained the menu and specials to us and made wine recommendations to complement our food order. I have to say it was one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to and I have been to many in Italy! Great food, great wine, fantastic atmosphere and the staff are the best!

Duo mio! My goodness. Honestly, the best pasta I've ever had. And I've had a lot of pasta! Fresh, homemade pasta. Bellisima! The cook is Calabrese, so maybe a little too flavorful for northern Italians, but oh my, absolutely marvelous. We had the antipastini for 2 and the tagliatelle con salsicce e funghi with a bottle of house rosé. It's really a stunning meal. Topped it off with the apple caramel desert with ice cream. Took us 40 minutes to walk the 10 minutes home. Hats off to the Maitre d and serving staff and kudos to the chef. Viva Eboracum!
