Brilliant little spot to eat some great Italian Food. The staff were great and the food was delicious! Will be going again

Had such a lovely meal at Delrio’s - cosy restaurant, that feels authentically Italian! The staff were so friendly and helpful, happy to adjust a dish and the food was excellent. Must get the cheesecake if visiting!!

Delrios is verywell rated, but also one of the more difficult reservations to get in York. You need to plan ahead unless you want to eat at 5pm or 9pm. So with such popularity, I was very interested to finally visit. Firstly, the venue. It's in a cellar, but is nicely and atmospherically done out. Service we found a bit off. The staff seemed annoyed with everything we did! Not exactly welcoming. Prices are decent. Menu is basically a very classic Italian menu. You don't come here for innovation and inventiveness. Food - this is the real test, and sadly its just very average and forgettable in my opinion.

This is an amazing Italian Restaurant, the food is always lovely. The staff are always helpful and pleasant. If we lived in York, we would be here on a regular basis, would highly recommend

This was our first visit - 6 of us. I erroneously booked the wrong night and phoned within two hours of our intended visit. The receptionist/meeter and greeter was brilliant and understanding and rearranged tables to accommodate us (disappointed I can't remember her name especially as she could remember mine when we left!). The atmosphere, food and service were all excellent. My only very minor gripe was that it was quite noisy - a factor when you're an old git like me. But we will definitely be back!

I’ve eaten at hundreds of Italian restaurants and this is easily one of the best. Incredible service, delicious foods, good portions, a homely and hearty atmosphere, and central location. I would absolutely come back here and encourage anyone else to do the same on a visit to York

Wow! What a wonderful experience. The food, the welcome, the beautiful staff and gorgeous rustic atmosphere. Delrios you were exactly what I hoped for and more! Having a hidden disability and therefore an assistance dog its not always made easy but your wonderful team welcomed us with open arms. I had the best birthday meal I could have asked for and we may not be local but we will definitely be back. Thank you so much.

My wife and I had dinner at Delrio’s last night and it was just superb. From a very warm welcome when we arrived to the great service and beautiful food and wonderful atmosphere in the restaurant we could not have imagined a better experience. If your in York you must go to Delrio’s.

Came with my boyfriend for his birthday dinner and the food was divine, the service was flawless and the atmosphere was beautiful. I would highly recommend to anyone taking a trip York to visit. Also special credits to the lovely and friendly Rachele and the waitress with black hair that seated us and took our order (sorry I didn’t get her name) and the chefs for our amazing food xx

Had a fabulous meal here for 5 people whilst visiting York. Excellent service and fantastic authentic Italian food cooked with love and so tasty. I love authentic Italian food and this did not disappoint. An excellent restaurant with a unique atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyable. Loved the desserts

The food here was excellent. We had a 3 course meal for 4 people and I cannot fault a single thing we had. Everybody loved it, and the staff were brilliant, very attentive but not overbearing and they even brought my daughter her pudding with a candle and sang happy birthday to her. She was delighted. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for a true taste of Italy.

Great service, ambience and food!

Would have taken pictures of the food….but the second it hit the table it was gone - it’s really that good! From the moment my colleagues and I entered the restaurant, the team there were fantastic and continued till the moment we left! They really couldn’t do enough - service was exceptional. The food is out of this world and can tell it is made and served with love…..and reasonably priced considering the quality. Will definitely be visiting again!

I recently had the chance to eat at Delrio's, and it was such a great experience! The food was incredible – hands down the best pasta I’ve ever had. Delrio's also stands out in the warm atmosphere and the fantastic service. Even though there was a mix-up with our booking, the staff were super kind and managed to get us a table at the last minute. The servers were so friendly and made us feel really welcome. If you're looking for delicious food and great service in a cozy setting, I’d definitely recommend Delrio's.

Great food, excellent staff, friendly atmosphere. All four of us ordered swordfish and it was delicious, fresh. Served with a lovely selection of properly cooked vegetables.

A fabulous place to eat! Susan was more than accommodating at getting us a table for 6 people at very short notice. Everyone there was welcoming and very pleasant. A lovely setting and the food was amazing!! The menu has plenty to choose from. Highly recommend that you visit here when in York!

We booked a table early and were there on time, my very pregnant daughter needed the bathroom, so my wife queued on the stairs and I went with my daughter. By the time I got to the stairs, my wife had already been seated; my daughter was just behind me. I got to the end of the stairs and tried to explain that my wife was seated at a table, however the rude receptionist told me to remain in the queue. I waited and my daughter arrived to be greeted by another waitress to bring her straight to our table, however the receptionist still wanted us to remain in the queue!! My daughter headed towards the table with the waitress and I followed, to a chorus of abuse from the receptionist. We went to our table and the receptionist then came in and started screaming at the waitress in Italian – telling her that her actions were not good and unacceptable, leaving her in tears. My wife, who had missed the whole performance, then told me that the receptionist had shouted abuse at a waiter who was stuck in front of her on the stairs, for being late! Any business that allows such an ignorant person to be front of house, no matter the quality of the food, do not deserve to be in business for long.

I find it absolutely appalling that the portions are so large - I didn't have enough space to try more dishes. I gave a few 5 stars last week and the truth Is none of them were as well rounded as Delrio. There should be a separate category for places like this were the portions are enormous, fantastic ingredients, and extraordinarily craftily made, the service is warm and efficient, the speed is unparalleled, and the decor is rustic but not tacky. I absolutely loved it, thank you so much. The cheese cake was the best I might have ever had, the Whitby crab also outstanding.

Possibly the nicest meal I've ever had in my life. Honestly, the food here is phenomenal. The service is also amazing, really friendly waitress and such a nice atmosphere. Cannot recommend enough.

Called in for dinner with a friend who has been coming here for years and I was not disappointed. The food was great, it has a really nice, authentic ambience and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Could not have asked for me. Highly recommended.

An absolute must visit if you are in York and want a romantic meal with amazing food! Me and my boyfriend find any excuse to go its that good! Also extremely accommodating for coeliacs and a gluten free diet, almost everything can be made gluten free on the menu (except pizza and pasta), the staff are very well informed on this too! The risotto is gorgeous! Staff are lovely and the atmosphere is wonderfully romantic and cosy! Boyfriend also says the cheese and pear pasta is the best meal he has ever had!!

This was our first time visiting and we were looked after from the moment we came in. The servers were really friendly and knowledgeable! The food was absolutely delicious, I had the Pollo e gamberoni alla termindoro and my friend had the Seafood Linguine both were amazing! Would highly recommend if visiting York!😁😁

It was such a beautiful place, the food was amazing. The staff, every single one of them, were so friendly n welcoming. It was my mums birthday and they did the candle n singing for her. It's definitely worth a trip back, but book well in advanced, a very busy place.

Wonderful Just popped in last miniute last night very friendly excellent staff. So helpful and the food woww were still talking about it today. Such a great TripAdvisor find. Would come back again over and over. Very accommodating for our needs and made Dads 60th special with singing and a candle in his delicious tiramisu. Great menu, lots of choice and all reasonably priced. Quirky but traditional setting and liked we could watch the chefs working whilst waiting for the food. All served at a perfect pace and every dish eaten had high praise. Thanks again for being so wonderful with us, see you next time we’re in York!

Delicious Quality Italian - a little hard to hear inside but very romantic

I came last night with two friends and we had a really wonderful time . The restaurant itself is intimate and the staff were kind, polite and welcoming and took our coats whilst we were waiting for our table to be ready which was a lovely gesture.I enjoyed a really tasty bruschetta with fresh seasonal tomatoes and a cheese and pear pasta which I adored. Everything ran so smoothly and we felt relaxed throughout our time there :) Excellent hospitality

If you are ever in York, you must go to this restaurant!! It’s the best atmosphere, the best food and the best service. It’s also great value for money. Do yourself a favour and book this place. It’s an easy choice to make.

Riding solo on this experience, from stepping down on the bottom step I was welcomed with a beautiful smile, looked after from the second they clocked eyes with me, from the wine- the starter and the main. Service was impeccable, felt like family throughout the meal. Food was fresh, vibrant & full of flavour, a true Italian experience Staff very very observant and know what’s going on, can only recommend this restaurant so highly & a must visit for newbies in the area. Lovely authentic Italian restaurant right in the middle of York, we had a pasta dish, chicken parma, wine, and the best tiaramusu i ever had. Everything is cooked fresh in the restaurant, which was apparent in the eating, great flavours and textures that you will only experience with fresh ingredients. Service was excellent and well worth the tip. Thank you for a great evening and dinner.

Always lived in York but never been to this gem of a place. We had a table of six and the service and food was great, my husband said it was the best steak he had eaten in a long time. Glad we shared the Italian meringue dessert, it was huge. Will definitely be going back. x

We both had truly excellent dinners here. The menu is varied, and the food was outstanding, both in taste and presentation. The service was excellent, both friendly and professional. We can't wait to eat here again when we return to York in a few months.

Had high expectations.... expectations met if not exceeded! Looks empty from street level. Keep the faith and head downstairs and it's outstanding. 5 stars for sure.

Went for wedding anniversary meal on 22nd June and were greeted by friendly, attentive smiling staff. Great ambience, great food, great service. Would highly recommend this restaurant but be aware you must book in advance to save disappointment. Will be going again next time we are in York. Walked in and ate very delicious Italian meals. It's run by a family and they were very polite and attentive. Pizzas were definitely amazing, especially Luigi with Ragu. They serve tap beer, highly recommend Moritz with low ABV. Definitely recommend as it is priced reasonably as well.

This is by far the best Italian restaurant I have been to! The food was absolutely delicious, every dish was exquisite, the desserts were not only amazing but generous in size, too. Came here tonight after a friend recommended for authentic Italian food, it did not disappoint! The staff were so friendly and helpful. I have coeliac disease so one of the servers went through the the entire menu with me to tell me what I could have or what could be adapted to gluten free which I thought was a lovely touch. I couldn’t have pizza or pasta dishes as all is homemade but there was a lot I could have. Had a beautiful starter and chicken main. I highly recommend asking for a table downstairs as it has a more comfortable and romantic atmosphere. My boyfriend ate a seafood Linguine and he said it’s the best he’s ever had. Will definitely return the next time I come to York!

Incredible place with good food and friendly people. I went at six o'clock to without a reservation, and was told to come back at nine. It was worth the wait.

Visited with my husband while staying in York and had a fabulous meal - beef stroganoff, fillet medallions, sautéed spinach, a bottle of Prosecco, tiramisu and crème brûlée. Everything was beautifully cooked and the beef was tender. The service was great, staff were so friendly and welcoming, the ambience is lovely and we had a fabulous evening. We will return! Highly recommended!

We enjoyed a 70th birthday here yesterday. The staff couldn't have done enough for us, it was a wonderful and memorable occasion. I dropped some balloons and decorations in a couple of hours early and the table was beautifully set for when we all arrived. The venue is a lovely, cosy, atmospheric place. Service was very attentive, food was quick to arrive and absolutely fantastic. I had olives and bread, garlic bread and the calzone, which was enormous looking but the very thin pizza dough made it light and tasty. Everyone enjoyed their food and the interactions with the staff throughout the night was a fun and lovely touch - they are very friendly. We finished the wonderful evening with the whole restaurant joining in on "happy birthday", with a round of limoncellos and coffee. It was outstanding from start to finish and a thoroughly deserved 5 stars for this wonderful restaurant and their fantastic staff.

I ate here a few weeks ago while in York. This restaurant is fantastic. I had the vegetable soup, the bruschetta, and the seafood linguine. I had some olive oil and bread with it as well. Everything across the board was great. The atmosphere is great as well. It really captures the feel of the town of York. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants I have been to, and York itself is fantastic as well.

If you're looking for pure Italian food this is your place! Atmosphere and food feels like you are in Roma

This has to be the best Italian restaurant in the world. The food is utterly awesome! Service is efficient with staff being friendly and attentive but not invasive. The menu is varied, well priced and portion size is really good....and the atmosphere is bustling, busy and wonderful. Love the place.

Dined here recently and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice Italian restaurant in York. The seafood risotto was very delicious, creamy, and filling and was perfectly contrasted by the meringue I had for dessert. Staff are very attentive and hospitable and overall experience was amazing :))

First time visit for our 30th wedding anniversary Absolutely stunning restaurant and disappointed that we have not come across this before, hidden gem from the moment you enter the door the attentiveness from the staff to the table service is second to none and the food is beautiful , the ambience made me feel like I was on holiday thank you we will definitely visit again xx

Best Italian restaurant in York no doubt.

So lovely! Really enjoyed the busy/bustling atmosphere of this restaurant. It was a birthday meal for us so we started with cocktails which were delicious! All the food was great - so fresh and clearly made by people who know what they're doing. Staff were very friendly and kind - not something you always get in a touristy city, and they should be congratulated on that. We'll be back if we can get a table! 🤞

Was recommended by my hotel receptionist which is always a good sign. Gorgeous pizza (perfectly cooked with quality toppings), and then the biscoff cheesecake is to die for. Lovely staff, music and I will certainly be back.

I have been before and always l8bed the atmosphere in here and staff always very pleasant. But all the food was very salty so much so one of the guests I was with had to send hers back. I was too hungry to Loa complain and mine was still edible. On the other hand it was cooked well and would probably still return.

Really exceptional Italian serving possibly the best pizza you’ll ever eat! LOVED my vegetarian pizza with mushrooms, peppers, artichokes, onions and olives. Crispy base. Very moreish! Deliciously fruity and rich Syrah red wine. Partner loved his Mediterranean seafood pizza, including prawns & mussels. We also loved our garlic and rosemary focaccia. Amazing service! Very prompt. What a fantastic place which is easily the best Italian restaurant in York. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff on arrival and taken to our table which was located in a lovely little candle lit corner. It felt like our own private area. The ambience of the place is fantastic, a unique cellar with a wonderful atmosphere. We visited on a Wednesday evening and the place was full. The staff are attentive and friendly who clearly have a passion for their work. All the food we ate was delicious and substantial. One of the mains we tried was the Parcels of pasta filled with cheese and pear served in a creamy basil sauce. This was incredible and a combination that works really well. 100% recommend trying this! Overall a must visit if you are looking the best Italian food in York. Booking highly recommended.

Still my favourite restaurant in York and has been for 20+ years. It had been a few years since I had last eaten here, but the food quality and staff are as exceptional as they have always been. I was with my family this time, who were visiting from Preston and hadn't been before, and they agreed that the restaurant is among the best York has to offer. The king scallops were absolutely delicious and the staff were, quite simply, wonderful. My mum has coeliac and is also lactose intolerant and nothing was too much trouble. I 100% recommend eating here.

First time dining at Delrio's, will not be the last. Wonderful food, lovely atmosphere and fantastic service. Highly recommended.

Wow - what an amazing restaurant!!! Rachele and her team are fantastic, so helpful, friendly and thoughtful. We were visiting York for the day, and feel so fortunate to have eaten at Delrio's for a birthday meal. From the point of booking (which is a must) right through to leaving, everything was fabulous. The food was really delicious, one of the tastiest meals out we've had in a long time, and the desserts are amazing, especially the meringue. Thank you to everyone, and if we're back in York, we will be sure to be back. Beyond five stars!!!

Had a really lovely meal in a beautiful and quirky cellar - the pear and cheese pasta in particular is delicious. This is a classy establishment that takes its cooking seriously but they were also so friendly and welcoming, even with our fairly noisy two year old. Would highly, highly recommend.
