Best meatballs I have ever had.

Adding to this review with spinach and ricotta cannelloni and Quattro stagioni pizza from lunchtime on friday 25.10.24 - amazing as always ❤️❤️❤️ Love it here - popped in for lunch, it was busy however they squeezed us in, fantastic pizzas, great beer, Prosecco, bruschetta, pasta with prawns and great atmosphere and service as always - everything amazing 🤗

Outstanding. One of the best eateries in York. Gorgeous, tasty, really fresh food. Charming, polite, friendly staff. Would most definitely revisit and highly recommend. Booking advisable as not a huge premises and it is very popular. I had a goats cheese salad, totally delicious and my companion enjoyed her chicken pasta dish immensely. She was equally as impressed. Do go!

Simply cannot fault this restaurant, which has, probably, the nicest pizza in York. We were able to walk in but would recommend booking as, even on a weeknight, the place was bustling, which made for a very vibrant atmosphere, but did not stop the food and service being pleasant and timely, and the waitress was friendly and chatty. Would absolutely recommend.

It's more British Italian, there are just little mistakes in the cooking that don't make it write, Bruschetta should always be on flat bread not on a baguette, linguine vongole shouldn't have any onion with it even if its red onion it just over powers the clams certainly shouldnt be sliced in chunks, pasta never comes with meatballs in Italy, as a starter on there own yes but never with pasta, espresso wasn't great and should always be in an espresso cup However the pasta was perfectly cooked still had a little bite and the wine was excellent as was the service.

Prepare to book ahead on a weekend as walk-ins were turned away on Sunday, and we could taste why. The meatballs melted in the mouth, the Bolognese sauce had a great spicy kick which was not overpowering, the specials were freshly made pasta, and the tiramisu is definitely the best in town!

One of the best Italian meals we have had. Great staff and lovely tasting food. Would recommend.

Family girls meal. I had gnocchi with chicken musrooms in wine plus. (A little less salt needed for me) but lovely, desserts looked nice may try next time. Staff very polite atentive & proffesional, smiling, on a very busy noisey Saturday night, well done. Prices reasonable. Would go again and try more of their menue.

Had a lovely evening on Saturday with my sister's and nieces.Thanks to Lizzie for making it a special night.Service amazing, food good but only two thingsto say were the ravioli was a smaller portion than expected and the Nikki was a bit salty and a bit two much garlic x!!

V busy and popular Italian. Great and friendly service. Extensive range on the menu, plus specials board if you fancy something different. Lobster ravioli was delicious as was the belly pork. Affogato and lemoncello cheesecake were lovely desserts. We had luck in getting a walk in table but booking is recommended - we were given a limited time slot but managed to fit in 3 courses and a bottle of wine!

We had a fabulous meal last night. The food was delicious with ample choice to satisfy all tastes. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Atmosphere was warm and happy- absolutely loved it! Will definitely be going back- thank you for a lovely evening.

Aggressively questioned for our booking details on arrival, twice. Felt unwelcome from the start. The Sparkling water provided was a very small bottle which was already opened and very flat - but replaced without fuss. We were immediately chased for our food order, and felt we were being forced out as quickly as possible to turn the table for walk-ins. Thankfully we didn’t get the awful 2 seater table in the middle of the floor. Was advised by one of the four servers not to take the special as it was ‘very, very spicy’ (in other words it was the previous days’ leftover arrabbiata and people had already complained about it). Arancini seemed to be Marks & Spencer’s own. Both main dishes served with the thinnest pieces of chicken possible, and mostly full of fat/skin. Had been looking forward to the ‘full bar and cocktails’, which seemed to be just a couple of shelves of wine and one of gin, no draught beers/ciders available, only bottles. On leaving there was a mandatory gratuity of 10% (or 15 or 20%), preferred tip option would have been 0%. Will never trust a google recommendation again.

Delicious Risotto, kindest service from every staff

There aren't enough stars for this place! Beautiful rustic italian style with the nicest staff I've ever encountered. Dealing with a large group can't have been easy but they nailed it. Thank you so much for a lovely meal!

Ate here yesterday afternoon. I am dairy and gluten free, which can cause a problem. Not here.. the food and service were excellent. The dairy and gluten free cheesecake was out of this world. Will definitely visit again when in York.

This cuisine has little in common with Italian flavors. Food of poor quality, carbonara underseasoned, tagliatelle manzo, so spicy and spicy that you could barely eat it. This is not Italian cuisine. The description does not say that this is a very spicy dish. The service also does not inform us that the dish is very spicy. We have been to Italy many times and the cuisine does not resemble Italy.

Had Lasagne, it was good, but thought it was on the small side, was still hungry afterwards. My daughter and her boyfriend had Arrabiatta pasta.

It's my first time here. I read the reviews, so I was interested. First of all, although the place where we were offered to sit looked nice, when we sat down, there was hair on the seats and plenty of salt on the table. Staff was not friendly at all during the whole process. On the contrary, he had an angry mood. Also, why did no one mention in the comments that Food hygiene raiting was 4? As a result, the food was average and I couldn't taste the dessert. It was a mediocre experience for me.

We have eaten here around half a dozen times and not had a bad meal yet. We had mixed olives, oil, and bread for starters with prawn linguine for a main and chocolate cake, ice-cream and cream for dessert (we asked for both and staff were fine, we just had to pay a little bit more). All were served within a reasonable time by lovely polite and helpful staff, hot meals were hot and all were delicious.

We ordered gnocchi cacciatore which were spectacular, and a carbonara which didn’t meet expectations (it was not well prepared, It had parsley in it and it should never be seasoned with that). Although it is known that outside of Italy usually dont make good carbonaras, BUT for the price of each dish (15-17£) it would be nice if they made a little more effort. The staff was very friendly.

If you are travelling to York and you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine look no further. My sisters and I travelled to York for a girls getaway with our mum. We are all foodies and each one of us had a delicious meal served. The staff were so helpful and kind. Really chatty and made us feel so welcome. I’d highly recommend this restaurant for good quality ingredients, tasty food and a warm Welcome

The food exceeded my expectation 😍😍 I like my risotto with chicken slices, my friend has the pasta with seafood, it's also good but she said the seafood is not fresh enough. The staff is friendly and smiley. Overall, I really enjoyed it!

Am amazing place for dinner. Good kids menu and they were happy to swap the salami for ham on the kids pizza. Generous portions and great service.

Went here after seeing the hundreds of positive reviews. We both ordered a pasta off the regular menu (not the two course meal menu) The good: the servers were all excellent and very kind The bad: the food was mediocre. I am not sure I have ever eaten a carbonara that tasted like that before. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing- my girlfriends was better but not crazily so. The portion was small- both my girlfriend and I were still hungry and went to a donair place after. The tip was not included in the price which would have been good to know in advance. Maybe it said that somewhere in the menu fine print but we had no idea. Looking at the menu pictures online I don’t see it listed anywhere, but I do notice the two course menu price has risen a couple times in the last five months from 15 to 18 to 23 now.

Very over-priced for very ordinary and not very authentic Italian food. I had their "special"...tagliatelle with meatballs. I got a tiny portion of pasta - not even a first course size - so, (for £18.95!!) I asked for more. The meatballs were mushy and tasteless (mostly bread and cheap mince?). My companion had a pizza. He said Sainsbury's own brand were better. I think a self-respecting Italian would walk out. There are far better Italian restaurants in York. NOT recommended.

Visited tonight with my 12 year old son. He thought the kids pizza was a great size. I live a seafood ravioli and this is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Staff were great and very attentive. We come from Edinburgh but would definitely come back and recommend.

Mike and Annette here! We love your fantastic restaurant. The Italian pasta and sauces were top quality, the atmosphere was lively and relaxed. All staff were extremely welcoming and efficient; we ate here on both evenings of our York trip and had two lovely evenings in your superb restaurant.

I love everything about this place. Fantastic for Date Nights and also large gatherings. The resteraunt is decorated beautifully and the staff warm and friendly. We have been on numerous visits amd never been disappointed. The food is superb.

Always come here whenever we come to york. We always intend to try something different but we're never not satisfied with the food or service here it's always lovely. A young lass served us with dark hair on 19th July at around 4.30-5.15 and she was a delight, 11/10 service.

The food here is excellent, i had one of the chefs specials which was first class, very tasty and filling. Can i say a big thanks to the waiter for slotting us in on a very busy night. Highly recommend

Had an overnight trip to York on a Monday as a couple and booked Marzano for an evening meal. After some rosemary bread for a sharing starter, we both ordered off the special menu for our mains. I had a 'Tagliatelle Manzo' and she had a vegetarian 'Truffle Ravioli' recommended by our waitress. The food was delicious and we enjoyed a Limoncello shot followed by a Frangelico shot to finish the night. Would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys Italian food!

Food was blend and mid. Pizza was dripping wet. Neither of us finished our food even though we were hungry. Portion size is small. Do not recommend.

We made a last minute decision to dine here having been let down by another restaurant. Despite being busy we were found a table and the food was lovely.

What a terrible restaurant...I don't know who is recommending it...and the service attitude is very bad! ! ! Especially the male clerk, he just had the word qishi written on his face, vomit, likes and dislikes, Chinese people don’t lie to Chinese people, don’t go there again if you see it

The food tasted bad and overpriced, and the service was extremely poor. We chose to dine here on a rainy day, driven by high expectations, but instead, we experienced discrimination and disdain for customers. This is not a place that understands how to deliver quality cuisine or proper customer service. I'm certain this restaurant won't have any returning customers.

Very good food and also nice service but a lot of noisy people

We were a group of 9 visiting York, and we found this boutique restaurant with a very "family run" feel. Foods are amazing and all of them feel like being cooked in a proper home kitchen, and please do definitely try their Tiramisu. Last but not least, our waitress, Danielle, provided us with a 12 out of 10 services, very sincere with a smile full of enthusiastic of their food and services. Thank you for giving us such a good memory.

My daughter and I visited and ordered from the lunchtime menu. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about the meal. The ingredients were of good quality, cooked to perfection, and tasted delicious. The portion sizes were fair, and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and reasonably attentive. It was a delightful experience, and we were both glad that we chose to dine there.

Lovely meal at Marzano this evening with great Gluten Free options even for me as a veggie as well. Since being diagnosed last year I have craved fresh pizza and it didn't disappoint! Finished with Limoncello cheesecake - yum! Great service too - will definitely be back!

Amazing food and service - we were only in York for a weekend but were so glad we chose Marzano for dinner one night! The Polpette Al Forno was absolutely delicious - it doesn't come with cheese by default but we asked if it was possible to add on, because cheese makes everything better! The service was incredible; they were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were glad we booked, although some people did manage to 'walk in' on the night, but would definitely recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment! The cheesecake and chocolate cake desserts were also superb, and we hope we'll be in York again soon for another visit to Marzano!

Really nice friendly Italian with some great dishes. We chose to start with a sharing platter, which was delicious. Followed by risotto verdure and goats cheese calzone - both equally good.

Arrived here in York at 8pm and walked in without a booking! Venue very busy but we were welcomed in immediately and a table was found for us. Lovely dinner! Great food, wines and such wonderful waiting staff. A great vibe in this restaurant. I ordered the linguine gamberi and it was delicious as was the Italian wine. Highly recommend!

The waiter didn't ask us and just chose the tip ratio himself. That's ridiculous.

The wine from Puglia was superb. The food was excellent, with plenty of choice. The service was friendly, efficient and not obtrusive - though, as usual, they managed to ask if everything was ok just as we had taken a full mouthful. Do waiting staff di that deliberately? I've resorted to a thumbs up pretty often!

Food was just OK, the place is frantic! Took my husband for his birthday and coyld hardly move for the tables they kept squeezing in.

Well well well, what can I say the owner greeted me with joy and a smile on his face so rare in this day and age yet again myself and my partner loved the food, the service but not tiramisu!!
