Cresci Pizzeria in York

After a fun day exploring the wonderful city of York on a damp May day, it was great to be greeted by the genuine warmth and smile of the lovely man at this quaint, bustling and authentic pizzeria. The ambience of the restaurant was cosy and relaxed. The menu offered plenty of choice. We all thoroughly enjoyed what we had. I especially enjoyed the Italian brewed blonde ale from Birra Flea. Too many so-called authentic ales are brewed and bottled in the UK these days so it's especially welcome to see this extra level of authenticity. I finished off with the Rum Baba - plenty of rum and very tasty! All of the staff were genuinely attentive and a joy. We will definitely stop by on our next visit to York. Thanks to all the staff for a great dining experience.

Cresci Pizzeria was our choice of restaurant for our last night in York, and we were so disappointed! That we hadn’t gone there on our first night! We hadn’t booked, but we were slotted in as long as we were finished by eight o’clock. We both had the Diavolo pizza, which we agreed was outstanding, really really outstanding. Hand on heart the best pizza I’ve had in the UK and having travelled regularly to Italy I really can’t recall having a better one in Italy. Our server was a lovely bubbly knowledgeable lady, who obviously loved her job. With two puddings, rum baba and tiramisu, and a Limoncello each, we were left desperately wishing that we had gone there before so that we could have would gone back.

Loved this place. The service was second to none and the pizza absolutely delicious. Will definitely return when in York again

If you're looking for authentic Neapolitan pizza in York, Cresci is an absolute must-visit. This will be our third visit From the moment we walked in on a busy Saturday night as a party of five, the warm and friendly front-of-house team made us feel right at home. Despite how busy they were (always a good sign!), they managed to fit us in without a fuss. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the real star of the show is the food. Cresci uses a traditional wood-fired oven to create truly delicious pizzas, crafted with genuine San Marzano tomatoes – a key ingredient that adds an unmistakably rich, authentic flavour. Every bite felt like a slice of Napoli! The team is knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they do, and it shows in both the service and the quality of the food. Without a doubt, these are the best pizzas in York – fresh, flavourful, and full of heart. Highly recommended – we’ll definitely be back again!

Pizzas are excellent, probably the best i've had in york. Super friendly family run business. We've walked by many times in the past and seen it full so haven't gone in....but there's loads of room upstairs so be sure to go in and ask, even if it looks full and you haven't booked!

We had a fantastic experience at Cresci Pizzeria in York. From the moment we walked in (on our second attempt — it was fully booked the first time, which says a lot about its popularity!), we could tell this place takes its pizza seriously. The atmosphere was warm and lively, with the delicious aroma of freshly baked pizza in the air. The pizzas were absolutely outstanding — thin, crisp crusts, rich tomato sauce, and fresh, high-quality toppings that brought the authentic taste of Italy to our table. Every bite was a delight, and you could tell it was all made with care and skill. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome despite how busy the place was. Service was prompt and professional, even with a full house. We’re really glad we made the effort to book a table — it was well worth the wait. If you're in York and love good pizza, Cresci is a spot you shouldn't miss!

In a word: Italianness. It feels like eating a pizza in Naples, compliments to the managers and also to the waiters, Elena treated us very well... highly recommended!

Cresci is a gem in York! The food is incredible! We had a crocche di patate and the cacio & pepe arancini as starters. The flavors in both were superb. As mains, we had the diavola pizza and the fiery calzone, which were outstanding. Everything tastes fresh. To finish the meal, we had the tiramisu. It was the best I've ever had! On top of the stellar food, the service was top-notch. Our server, Monali, was attentive and friendly. Every time I come to York, I will be sure to visit Cresci!

We travel for 1 hour and a half to eat here, delicious pizza, like in Italy. Friendly staff, quick service. Everything is amazing, we don't have time to take photos, the food disappeares in seconds.

While the restaurant did seem like it was still being put together, the overall ambience was very good. The food was amazing, and easily the best garlic bread I've had in a long time! Great staff too - very polite, friendly and helpful.

Best pizza I've had for ages. Loved the little potato fritters, and the pizza with Lardo on top was excellent. Great for families or for a get together with friends. Proper pizzas, straight out the oven, to your table. Service was warm and efficient.

We went in on a Monday evening without a booking and were found a table upstairs. It was nice and clean with pleasant decor. The beer menus were a bit tatty but don’t let that put you off. All the staff were friendly. The service was good and we were well looked after and the pizzas were fresh and tasty.

Best pizza in York. La Norma is my absolute favourite and chef armando made it perfectly. If you want authentic Italian pizza this is the place to go. Service excellent and food even better. 5 stars is not enough. Mi piace da morire. grazie mille. :)

Lovely authentic Italian-Napolitan restaurant. It's hard to find places where you can taste a good pizza as if you were in Napoli. Great value for food and the staff are very friendly, the guy at the entrance (don't know the name sorry) was super friendly and provided a great welcome, our waitress Monali was also very friendly and attentive. I would recomend it.

BEST PIZZA EVER. The dough was absolutely perfect: better than any pizza I’ve had in the uk. The tomato sauce was… *chefs kiss*. The cheese was impeccable. We’ve never been to York before and we stumbled upon this place whilst exploring the city center on our first evening. I’ve never felt so welcome. From the second we walked in it was honestly just a fantastic experience. The food, the staff, all of it was an easy 10/10. If I’m ever in town again. I’ll be sure to visit. Thank you.

This is an unforgettable experience. Daniele was a charm, he made us feel at home. The food was delicious and we would relocate in York just to be close to the place. Greatly recommended to anyone looking for great time and great food.

Amazing pizza and frittatina napoletana! I’m Italian and I can assure you that this pizza is the real Neapolitan one and tastes way better than the average one in Italy. Thanks also to Elena, very welcoming and kind.

Atmosphere is amazing and you get well looked after, all of the food speaks for itself and ifs a perfect example of true Neapolitan pizza. If you have any doubt on where to eat tonight let this reviews make your mind up. We will be travelling down from the NE to eat here again asap!

On the advice of locals I tried this Pizzeria . The location is beautiful , the staff is very nice and they understand your desire. The pizza is so good, prepared with the best ingredients.

What can I say! Food is exceptional, traditional and authentic. Service is second to none your really do feel welcome and feel like you’re being looked after by a family.

All things considered I think this is the best place to eat in York. - The service is friendly, familiar and efficient. Exceptional in my opinion. - the decor is all really nice, clean, open and has views onto Piccadilly - The prices are reasonable, not ‘cheap’ per-se, but definitely reasonable. One can get a Margherita for £8.90 and there are no service charges or tipping pressure when paying. - The pizza is as good as you get anywhere , I’ve been to Naples and eaten the pizza, this is as good as those famous Naples pizzerias if not better. - Welcoming environment/atmosphere for families and also completely comfortable for people dining solo, like me! I come here 2 - 3 times a year, today was my 1st time this year and the place never fails to delight me.

We visited with some friends, and the staff were wonderful. The food was truly authentic Italian! The only downside was being seated near the door, which caused a draft whenever people entered or exited. I’d recommend requesting a table upstairs to avoid this.

Wow, pizza was great but what I’m really here to review is the incredible service! My husband and I visited on our trip to York last weekend and we were looked after by the lovely waitress Ruby. She took excellent care of us and gave amazing recommendations when we asked where else to go in York. Her suggestions made our weekend! Seemed genuinely interested in talking to us, was knowledgeable about the menu and told us to get a pizza we ended up LOVING! Although it was busy and she was running around everywhere, she still made time to see to us and we really enjoyed chatting to her. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a great experience!

You cannot miss this restaurant in York! It’s genuinely one of the best pizza places I’ve ever tried. They also have many halal options if preferred. Lastly ofcourse do NOT miss their tiramisu and thank you to Christina for the wonderful customer service.

We enjoyed Cresci pizzeria and discovered it thanks to a link a friend sent us for recommendations to eat before we went to the theatre. The service was welcoming, and the food arrived very quickly. We sat by the window and it was good watching the world go by! I had a calabrese which was delicious.

From the outside I didn't expect to much but as we passing by very hungry we noticed this place seen the food on someone's table and said we should go in here. After walking around a bit we came back, very friendly staff what welcomed us in, it was a busy day but managed to find us a table. Probably the best pizza iv ever had. Having dined in London extensively, from high-end establishments to more relaxed venues, I can confidently place Cresci among the top three pizzerias I have ever experienced. Every bite of the Diavola Pizza teleported the chef’s dedication and mastery. This is more than just excellent food—it is a testament to the passion and precision put in by the chef. Cresci deserves recognition for the exceptional quality they deliver, and it undoubtedly stands out as a culinary gem in this city.

This review is long overdue. I’ve been to Cresci many times before and adore it, the food is absolutely incredible and some of the best pizza in the UK. The service, however, is the best part by far, and one specific event still stands out to me. When I had a medical issue during a visit our server, Christina, went above and beyond for me and helped immensely. She made a genuine difference, which I will always be grateful for. When we returned another day we were delighted to be served by her again; she was so kind and friendly and left a sweet note on our receipt. Grazie mille to everyone at Cresci - especially Christina!

The best pizza in town, actually the best pizza I ever had! I definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to have a bite of italy in york.

Truly Authentic Pizza! These were absolutely the best pizzas we have eaten outside of Italy. The perfect base, San Marzano DOP tomato base, and proper Parma Ham, every element tasted exquisite. This may sound OTT, but with 3 now grown children we have eaten a lot of pizza, in many different countries, and different regions of Italy, and these pizzas were up there with the very best. We were lucky enough to get the last table, early on a Saturday and were welcomed by the Italian family owners. It had a lovely atmosphere, and a real buzz, and was really busy, so I would make sure and book!

We had food there a while ago and today we’re still talking about how good it is. That says a lot. This place literally has a certified issued by The True Neapolitan Pizza Association, and there are only about 1100 of them in the world. Friendly staff, quick service, spacious dining space, extremely good food, wouldn’t mind driving for hours to York just to have food there again.
