The best restaurants in Scarborough Yorkshire and The Humber

No I haven’t stayed here, but the conduct of the owners on Four in a Bed was appalling. “Claustrophobia” for a perfectly adequate shower and room and then grossly underpaid for what was a lovely room. Foul play and game playing. Awful conduct.

It was our first time of visiting Gianni’s and soo glad that we found this hidden gem! We hadn’t made a booking but they fitted us in. We waited for our table in a cosy room with a cosy fire and we only waited for about ten minutes. The restaurant setting/environment is modern and attractive. Gianni’s serves good wine and delicious food. We ordered a bottle of Chianti which complimented our meal of bruschetta for starters followed by lasagna and cheesy garlic bread. Our starter was full of different flavours and absolutely delicious. The lasagna was one of the best that I’ve ever tasted! Don’t take any notice of some of the negative reviews on here about bad service because we experienced good service with friendly staff. Would I go back……..most definitely next time I’m in Scarborough! Thank you Gianni’s!

Take away- food was fantastic. The staff were great and got my partners order spot on and he’s very picky! Highly recommend.

When you want some old school Italian comfort food, look no further. We had Pizza, excellent and lasagne, pretty good. I also had a glass of house Sangiovese which was lovely. We are working our way through the restaurants in Scarborough and will definitely return to this one on regular basis, especially when we fancy a pizza. I wouldn’t be surprised if everything on the menu is tasty and made with good ingredients. Can’t wait to sample a few more things,

He estado aquí varias veces antes y ha pasado de mi lugar favorito para comer a amargamente decepcionado. Me he dado cuenta de que hay una falta de atención a los detalles durante el año pasado aproximadamente y siempre les doy el beneficio de la duda. Sin embargo hoy pedimos dos bollos con xream y mermelada. Eran tan duros que ni siquiera podíamos atravesarlos con el cuchillo y mucho menos comerlos. El interior generalmente más blando también era duro. Me quejé y me dijeron que gente como ellos así. Dije que no estaba feliz de que no fueran comestibles y ella dijo lo siento, pero luego se fue. Tuve que pagar 15 libras por algo que en mi opinión no era fresco en absoluto. Es con un corazón pesado que digo que no volveré : (

Had a great stay at Saltmoore. The location by Sandsend Beach is beautiful, and the estate grounds are really well kept. The food was fantastic—fresh, local ingredients and really well prepared. It’s also super dog-friendly, which made our trip even better. The gym is better equipped than most commercial gyms which was a nice surprise and I got to try cryotherapy for the first time too! Looking forward to staying again!

Pizzas are 5 star, but other food is expensive and ok. I think the service is usually better, we suffered as the last table booked for the night

Great Sunday lunch food excellent and swift service. Cosy atmosphere and staff friendly and helpful it's definitely worth a visit.

We booked a table as this was a highly rated place for a roast dinner near Scarborough. I had called ahead and enquired about vegetarian roast dinner options for my girlfriend. On the phone I was assured there were multiple options and although this technically was the case, neither were necessarily the best accompaniments for a roast (stuffed pepper and stuffed pasta). The service was great and we had a lovely table in a corner and the atmosphere was cozy and great. I ordered the beef roast dinner and my girlfriend ordered the stuffed peppers with a roast. The food came relatively quickly. The selection of vegetables was nice and was a welcomed change to have red cabbage and cheesy leeks although they would have been a bit more generous with the portion size as it was to share between the 2 of us. It would have also been nice to have some optional extras on the menu like a portion of cauliflower cheese. The roast dinner also only came with 2 roast potatoes which were really big but would have preferred 3 or 4 smaller ones. It came with a jug of gravy however it was meat gravy and there was not a vegetarian alternative but luckily my girlfriends stuffed peppers were quite saucy so her dinner wasn't dry. My beef was nice however it was slightly chewy and could have been hotter coming out and was only kept warm by hot gravy. Bit of an irrelevant side note but the loos were really nice! Everything else was really lovely and we did have a nice meal and I appreciate it is a small country pub in Scarborough but if you advertise as vegetarian friendly then I think it needs to follow through fully - for example being advised they don't have a veggie gravy upon ordering the dinner or even having a veggie alternative. I'm sorry to be negative, especially when we did have such a lovely time (hence the 4 stars) bu my girlfriend has been vegetarian for 5 years and situations like these feel very frustrating and easily avoidable if staff are more aware and informed.

Con la tienda callejera skinner cerrada visitamos la tienda en la puerta de Baxter. Nos sirvieron con un delicioso café acompañado de un pedazo de pastel travieso. Un montón de elección en el menú y también puede comprar pasteles y otros productos horneados de la tienda en la parte delantera de la cafetería

Bought lovely fresh cakes from shop / staff very helpful and smiling faces and attentive. However based on that experience we decided to go upstairs to tea room for lunch on a wet miserable day (Tuesday 9th July) a small queue - one couple in front of us - lady (supervisor?) behind the desk asked us if we had booked, my husband said no… She continued to prepare orders, help cashier who was clearly inexperienced at using til and completely ignored us and the couple waiting in front of us. The tearoom was not busy, lots of empty tables … she continued to prepare orders, we continued to wait, not a word to either of us 2 couples waiting to re-assure us she would get us seated! Having waited for over 10 minutes on a quiet day - I looked at my husband and said I was leaving and would find another establishment who I’m sure would welcome us and be happy for us to eat and spend our money with them. Bothams can take pride of your shop and staff but less can be said for how your tea room is managed …. Won’t be going there again !! Did not like her manner or attitude - maybe she needs further training in customer care !
