No I haven’t stayed here, but the conduct of the owners on Four in a Bed was appalling. “Claustrophobia” for a perfectly adequate shower and room and then grossly underpaid for what was a lovely room. Foul play and game playing. Awful conduct.

I have drove passed The Piebald Inn before but did not realise it was dog friendly. The staff make you most welcome but it is unusual for them to take a name and telephone number as you arrive. ( Informed it was incase you left any articles ? ). There is a section for dog owners which is very good. The selection is overwhelming and was informed to take a picture of the board with the selection of pies and the availability. Went for the Welsh Cob huge portion of filling in the pie with chips and peas a little bit more mint sauce for me but apart from that very good. Will return when next in the area but will do more research of the menu before hand.

Well what can I say…. We saw this place on TV #fourinabed and thought we must have a look next time we are on the East Coast (which with the sun shining today was the day) - 52 Pies on the menu and wow 🤩 what a portion I don’t think we’ll eat for the rest of the week. I had the “Wonky Donkey” and my partner had “The Shire” and honestly no horses in sight 😂 all the pies are named after horses - if ever you are out this way, it’s a little hidden gem of a place. Needless to say no room for a pudding 🍮

The Piebald Inn has 52 different pies on the menu & Timothy Taylor's Beers, amongst others. It is dog friendly. They have an accessible room with en suite wet room with low level basin, and safety bars on the toilet and shower. For the more able bodied it is 10 minutes walk from Hunmanby Railway station which has services to Filey and Scarborough. Plenty of car parking for guests and visitors. helpful staff, would highly recommend this pub.

Nice pub serving proper pies not a bowl of stew with a puff pastry lid. Decent portion of pie, probably too much and very tasty. Expensive for a pie meal though at around £20. Only let down apart from cost was the number of flies buzzing around. So only 4 stars. They would be better cutting pie portion and reducing price to suit in my opinion and invest in a fly trap!

This is an experience that everyone should have at least once in their life . You get to choose from 52 pies with a range from beef all the way through to vegetarian bypassing pork ,lamb, fish, and Game. The quality of the food is amazing and is like a pie your gran would make you ( no frills piece that's been cut from a proper square pie) between the 3 of us there must have been over a pound of meat 😋 after lunch I didn't eat till the next day . It's worth at least a 30mile trip to eat so if you're in the area, get there if you can 👍

Horrible middle aged female member of staff with dark hair took great pleasure in making us stand in the rain to have a cigarette with our drinks when a shelter was available and not in use. We went to check out the venue for a family remembrance event but due to her attitude (and the unapetising looking food) we decided on the Horse Shoe inn where we all enjoyed wonderful food and the staff were so friendly. The Piebald gets a "surprising" number of good reviews but also some very disgruntled low reviews regarding the rude staff and poor service. The owner will probably reply to this review to deny or defend as they seem to be in denial to negative reviews

The Piebald is amazing, but not for the reason you might think. The staff were welcoming (and hah-ha funny) from the moment we walked in, telling us how the menu board worked and showing us to our table. Our meal was great to look at, delicious vegetables and gravy. One of us ordered the spicy Mustang, which had the right level of heat; unfortunately, it all seemed to have a big handful of salt in it. We informed the team, who sent the manager, Tom, over. Tom was great. He told us he had tried the mix, and even the pie I had left and agreed it was overly salty and that something was amiss. He treated us with respect, listened, and even adjusted the bill appropriately. I wish places with bigger brand names knew customer service like the Piebald. We WILL be going again! Oh, try the "Karbadian" ... that WAS a hit!

Arrived by bike, and the staff were more than happy to unlock their side gate so they could be stored safely. All of the staff were very welcoming and we were quickly shown to our table. 52 pies are available, one for each week of the year. There is a board that is regularly updated with the number of each pie available. Each pie weighs 0.5kg and is served with mash or chips, peas and gravy. Between us we had beef mince, steak and potato and a Christmas dinner pie. The pastry is light and the fillings enormous, we were so stuffed it was hard getting back on the bikes. Staff are more than happy to box up any pie that you can't manage. My advice is to go hungry in order to finish your plate.

Every visit to Scarborough we have a meal at this restaurant. We have never been disappointed. The food and service is always first class. We had the fish dishes after having had very tasty starters.
1203 Opinions
We booked a table as this was a highly rated place for a roast dinner near Scarborough. I had called ahead and enquired about vegetarian roast dinner options for my girlfriend. On the phone I was assured there were multiple options and although this technically was the case, neither were necessarily the best accompaniments for a roast (stuffed pepper and stuffed pasta). The service was great and we had a lovely table in a corner and the atmosphere was cozy and great. I ordered the beef roast dinner and my girlfriend ordered the stuffed peppers with a roast. The food came relatively quickly. The selection of vegetables was nice and was a welcomed change to have red cabbage and cheesy leeks although they would have been a bit more generous with the portion size as it was to share between the 2 of us. It would have also been nice to have some optional extras on the menu like a portion of cauliflower cheese. The roast dinner also only came with 2 roast potatoes which were really big but would have preferred 3 or 4 smaller ones. It came with a jug of gravy however it was meat gravy and there was not a vegetarian alternative but luckily my girlfriends stuffed peppers were quite saucy so her dinner wasn't dry. My beef was nice however it was slightly chewy and could have been hotter coming out and was only kept warm by hot gravy. Bit of an irrelevant side note but the loos were really nice! Everything else was really lovely and we did have a nice meal and I appreciate it is a small country pub in Scarborough but if you advertise as vegetarian friendly then I think it needs to follow through fully - for example being advised they don't have a veggie gravy upon ordering the dinner or even having a veggie alternative. I'm sorry to be negative, especially when we did have such a lovely time (hence the 4 stars) bu my girlfriend has been vegetarian for 5 years and situations like these feel very frustrating and easily avoidable if staff are more aware and informed.
