Long overdue visit to the Malet for Saturday night dinner with our daughter and son in law! The food was delicious; the service very good and the overall atmosphere friendly and welcoming! Such a great pub serving tasty food in a real ‘homely’ pub surroundings! We cannot recommend it enough!
Best chicken jalfrezi. Absolutely top marks and the naan bread is sitting up top as well.
Well done guys, looking forward to restaurant opening again one day.
We have visited Salisbury several times but only found this place as we needed it to be dog friendly
We were not disappointed the food was superb
We all had mains and puddings and they were extremely tasty
The staff were so friendly and we would definitely return and fully recommend
Lovely little hotel, the bed was very comfy. We stayed in the family room. Cot was provided and a double pull out sofa bed for other child. We checked in after a long day at Longleat safari and it was so nice to enter a room that was comftable, clean and felt homely. Lovely little finishing touches like chocolates on the bed and mini fridge with waters and orange juice. Breakfast was so much better than what I was expecting. Would love to stay again, really recommend
Strange thing first, when i booked the only availability was 3 course a la cart so i called and this was confirmed, we are not massive eaters anyway, quality over quantity for us. Thursday before the Saturday booking i was called and it was confirmed again, 3 courses. But on arrival we were told the only thing possible was the main 7 item fixed menu and nothing else. It was also more expensive than the website said, the website also mentions the a la cart. A bit confusing this.
However, the food was very good indeed as expected, service was very attentive without being intrusive. Just a bit of a shame on arrival, will be back!
Big portions and tasty food! Fast and polite staff too! Couldn't recommend more!
Update Oct 23 - still one of the best places to get fish and chips!
Update Jan 25 - still the best. Quick service and great food!
Went out for a family dinner. Very disappointed with quality of food. Worst meal we have had in ages. When Waitress asked why one plate of food went uneaten..we said it was swimming in oil and inedible. Her response was "I asked you earlier if food was ok and you didn't complain then". Not correct response. She didn't even offer to take price of uneaten meal off the bill. Then she added a service charge which we didn't pay.
Birthday meal was ruined. Certainly won't be going back.
The breakfast and coffee order was absolutely fine, I would say Lacking in customer service, a simple hello I’ll be with you shortly when I arrived would be nice, when my breakfast arrived I was told the Cuttery was back at the counter, now I know it’s a café but perhaps they could supply cutlery at the same time as my breakfast?,
We received a very warm welcome from Clive and Ross last Friday. It’s very clear that they love what they do, the food was excellent!! Clive recommended a lager that’s specifically brewed for the Dog and Fox and it was blooming wonderful! They were so good with our son Jacob who’s 10, cooking him one of his favourites. I would recommend the Dog and Fox to anyone who is looking for that traditional English pub! (Not many left these days) We will be sure to return and I will look forward to enjoying a Sunday roast very soon.

We stopped here as doing a ride about. Never been here before. There is parking at the back of the Inn. Plenty of seating outside next to the road but is ok. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Inside nicely decorated and plenty of seating. We didn't have food but did look and smell nice. Did seem a bit pricey for two drinks and two packets of crisps. It is situated in a nice place. Between Chipping Sodbury and Malmesbury on nice back roads. Nice views along the way.
