Lovely little hotel, the bed was very comfy. We stayed in the family room. Cot was provided and a double pull out sofa bed for other child. We checked in after a long day at Longleat safari and it was so nice to enter a room that was comftable, clean and felt homely. Lovely little finishing touches like chocolates on the bed and mini fridge with waters and orange juice. Breakfast was so much better than what I was expecting. Would love to stay again, really recommend

Took my father here for lunch, staff were very friendly and the sat outside in a lovely decorated space. Opted for for set lunch which was just ok. Starter I opted for was Calamari Fritti which looked like frozen calamari rings without much colour or flavour to them. As a main I had spinach and ricotta cannelloni which didn’t look very appetising and for dessert 3 scoops of sorbet.

Fabulous location with amazing staff who were so helpful. Another local pub had to cancel our booking due to a kitchen fire. The Angel kindly accommodated a table of 10 at incredibly short notice. The food was fantastic, well prepared and typically Italian. The service was just perfect with cheerful friendly staff. Will definitely be going back again.

Overnight stay after Longleat safari, we were running late and the restaurant which is part of the Inn was more than helpful. Warm welcome and lovely staff, Room was very clean, pretty and charming. Bathroom was lovely with nice large flat base shower, all tiled and modern with large mirrors and extraction fan. A real gem in a small village, bed was queen size and at last I've found a comfy mattress for my bad back, would love to stay for a few more nights, will definitely be returning. The restaurant food is amazing, I love to cook and been told I'm a good cook, very rarely do we go somewhere and enjoy a meal so much, the steak was local produce and was so thick and tender with a herb butter, very tasty. Also had the stuffed chicken with chorizo with mash and green beans with a jus, again tender and full of flavour. The tiramisu is to die for, lots of choice with desserts. Will definitely travel the 1hr 30mins to have a meal and stay here again. Absolutely loved the stay and the food, we were celebrating a birthday and look forward to coming back. What a gem of a place.

We only stayed one night. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and manager on a freezing night. The room was cosy, warm with a wonderful bathroom. We ate at the restaurant which was superb. Great choice, well cooked and served with a smile. The continental breakfast was more than adequate, supplemented by a ciabatta roll made to order the night before and kept in the fridge in the bedroom. Would thoroughly recommend this beautiful village pub.

This is a gorgeous place to stay! The staff were extremely accommodating and went the extra mile to ensure my family’s stay was special. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed here as a base when we went to Longleat Safari. It did not disappoint. The family room is spacious enough for a couple + toddler although only as a base if your toddler is as energetic as ours. This was ok for us because we planned to be out most of the day anyway. The staff are very friendly, checked in on our stay. The communication and expectation management was very good - Eg breakfast is continental and in your room. The cleanliness and quality of the rooms was also noted. We can see it has been newly renovated. A hidden gem in Warminster. Cute and affordable.

Decent lunch marred by inefficiency and unsmiling waitress who made us feel uncomfortable by sitting at the door with her handbag at 3pm. Ok if you want to eat and run.

We stayed after a wonderful day at Longleat - very friendly and inviting, lovely room, comfy bed and great bathroom..Dinner was very good with a fine range on the menu and reasonably priced. My Mother had a room too and we both felt it was a great choice to stay there.

As the result of a road works detour on route to the Cotswolds we ventured off the A350 to The Angel Inn, near Warminster and discovered this lovely and very popular Italian Restaurant (La Campagna) at the Angel Inn. Subject to the required Covid protocols, they accepted the turn-up for lunch and we had great food and service. Very popular with the locals and highly recommended as a food stop if you in the area.

This hotel was lovely! We stayed for 3 nights, the room was very cosy, the bathroom had an amazing shower. Other great things about the room is they had a fridge and every day throughout the stay we were provided with fresh milk, juice and bottled water. We had cereal provided in the room for breakfast, understandable due to COVID. They also gave us croissants and jam each day. We were pleasantly surprised by the offer of a sandwich every day, which was great for picnics! The restaurant is also delicious- highly recommend! Staff were very friendly.

We found this place by chance and so pleased we did. Everything we had to eat was great, we couldn’t fault it. Travelled here for a break away from London and ate in the restaurant two nights running. Had 3 courses both nights, a large varied Italian menu, something for everyone. Over the two nights we had, prawns, mussels, scallops to start, then mushroom ravioli, steak, seafood or prawn pasta. Desserts also great. Good drinks menu, including cocktails and fine wine for those who want it. Staff were lovely and the food was value for money. Felt safe the whole time and we will definitely be back when in the area. We would recommend the restaurant to anyone. Thank you 😊

We had a lovely one night stay at the Angel Inn. The room is modern and comfortable. Would be nice to have a little more space to put bags etc. A continental breakfast is included in the room and is good. We met up with family and ate in the restaurant which was first class food and service. We would love to stay again when we visit the area next time

Myself and my wife spent 2 night at this Inn, when we visited Longleat. Situated in a small village, perfectly located for Our visit to the safari park. The room was comfortable and spacious. We had Dinner and Lunch here, which was excellent, very tasty and good value for money, the staff were very friendly and attentive. I would recommend the The Angel Inn (La Campagne Restaurant) to anyone.

What can I say.. This place is just excellent value for money. Attention to detail is lovely, its clean, warm, cosy, and gives you everything you could need. The room we had was lovely, bed comfortable and bathroom just beautiful.Little things like having clean towels each day.. The breakfast ciabatta is gorgeous, and although we did't dine in the restaurant, I am sure the food there is a good. The staff were super friendly and efficient, and nothing seemed too much trouble. I just love this place.. Every B&B at this price could be at this standard, it just shows what can be done with a little extra thought.Congratulations angel Inn, you are doing everything right.. I wish you had a few sister places around the country!If I'm being super picky a socket next to the bed for my phone would be so appreciated!

Sunday lunch get together. Quite a formal welcome but professional. Menu extensive and service good. Food quality above average but not outstanding really. Would recommend.

Had a family lunch here just before Easter and enjoyed it enormously; great food selection; good wine list; enthusiastic and entertaining staff; all very relaxed; seems to market itself as an Italian Restaurant.

Went here sat 16th March with friends and wasn't dissapointed. The friendly staff make you feel very welcome and looked after us during our visit. I can recommend the Gamberoni all'Aglio to start, it was so good I also had it as a dessert. My Marinara pizza was lovely one of the best I've had. Can not wait to return for another great meal

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch here with friends. Roast beef was lovely thick and pink. Had a choice of lamb or beef or you could have a mixture. Staff very attentive. House wine very good. Well presented meals and very tasty.

Lovely place with very friendly and attentive staff. Had the beef Sunday lunch. Good plate of food. Though top heavy on veg and only two roast potatoes. Meat carved thin and very rare. All in all, a good meal but not great considering the higher end pricing for the meal. Wouldn't return as there are better Sunday roasts around.

We had an extended stay at this beautiful hotel as we were visiting my Dad who is unwell.

As we entered we the Angel all the staff greeted us and showed us to our table.

A group of us went walking in this beautiful countryside and enjoyed an excellent lunch at this Italian restaurant afterwards. The service was friendly and efficient too.

We previously had a meal in September pre-booked menu as table of 14 couldn't fault service or food at all, however booked a table for this Sunday just gone greeted by a rather excitable waiter shown to our table kept be pestered for drinks order food order I wanted to read the menu.

Good food in ample protions. A group of six had food from both the lunch time and main menu. We are an Italian family and enjoyed the Italian food.

We visited the Angel after a gap of over 10 years and found it different having moved away from fine dining to an Italian themed Restaurant but offering a wide selection of food for all tastes. We enjoyed a nice meal accompanied with drinks and consumed at an outside table. All in all a good experience and a place we will certainly re-visit

We went to The Angel following various good reports from friends. Shortly after starting our main courses one of our party found a piece of glass in her pasta. It was about the size of a 5p so not small.

Popped in for dessert last night and we are going back for dinner. Lovely service upon entry, nice revamp and competitive pricing for delicious food. I had the banoffee and next time I’m having the brownie - yum

Different style of restaurant following a re-vamp, now more of a smart modern look. Good greeting on arrival, chose to have two courses for £11.95. The cocktail of prawns was very tasty with a good mix of lettuce, as a starter large enough, although no bread included. The lasagna was really hot and had a genuine Italian taste, again no bread included. Our waiter, on his first day, was friendly and efficient and we were served promptly despite the restaurant being almost full - at lunch time! We shall be back.

Found the food and service very good-they even brought our dog a fresh water bowl. Service was prompt, attentive and overall a very nice experience

Stayed whilst on business in the area. Regular traveller and have experienced a full range of ‘interesting’ settings around the country The Angel was just superb. Friendly, welcoming and beautiful food (I had the mushroom risotto and tiramisu). The bedroom was spotless and stylish. If I didn’t have further business here I would certainly contrive some in order to return. Had a very restful stay. Thank you.

Four of us made a first visit for lunch today, all most impressed with the quality of the food, the attentiveness of the staff, the reasonable pricing, and the pleasant atmosphere. Although twenty-five miles from where we live, we shall certainly return.

We had not realised that this restaurant was now one of 3 La Compagna restaurants and not The Angel pub with specialist chef as per recent cycling review. Service friendly and efficient, but food disappointing. Starter of calimari fritti very bland. Roasted salmon rather dry and accompanying roasted mussels small and tasteless. Food did not taste individually prepared and cooked.

Food is as good as there other Restaurants. We were made to feel very welcome and food was excellent even though we only had a light lunch.

Now taken over and serving delicious Italian food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Peter couldn't do enough for us. 34 of us and we all got our meals together. Excellent new look too.

Ahora que leí todas las críticas recientes, puedo decir que nuestra experiencia fue buena para nuestra visita. Comimos el pastel de pescado y el de atún braseado, sólo dos platos principales. Ambos estaban deliciosos, Si mi pastel de pescado habían sido crisped bajo la parrilla, hubiera sido la perfección pero no impidió el gran sabor de la tarta. La mezcla de espárragos, guisantes y col triturados eran cocinada justo a mi gusto. Pedí algunas mantequilla sólo para darles un poco más de humedad y riqueza, pero no disfrutar de la comida. Centros de atún braseado, halloumi en cuscús estaba muy, muy sabroso.

Tenía una muy buena comida, sin duda un corte por encima de regular comida de pub. Fuimos un grupo de seis, así que había una variedad de opciones para los campos diferentes, todos disfrutamos de sus comidas y había un número de opciones sin gluten que eran claramente de manifiesto. El fin de semana en la zona de reserva una mesa para seis de nosotros y tuvimos una agradable velada. Personal amable y buena comida. Una variada selección de cervezas y si estás en la zona pop por una pinta y algo precioso. . .

Precioso asado los domingos, muy bien las verduras cocinadas. Patatas asadas lo bajó un poco como puede probar que les habían hecho previamente y luego calentado pero aún estaban muy comestible. Un montón de bien cocinada, carne roja y por supuesto un poco un budín de Yorkshire. Estábamos demasiado lleno para probar el sticky recomendado, budín de toffee y optamos por limón, de nuevo en su lugar possett sabrosa y refrescante. Personal amable. Estábamos allí para el almuerzo al mediodía, y hacía un poco de frío en su interior podría haber hecho con la calefacción para hacer que se sienta un poco más cálido y acogedor. Yo lo recomiendo.

We came here on a recommendation from a friend, I have to say that the staff (We think the owners) were very unwelcoming and miserable, there was no informal chat from them, and neither of them seemed to care whether we had enjoyed our experience there or not? hence this review! , I had to send a side order back as it was cremated yet still came out??, the menu was everything a "Pub" would sell with chips not really a restaurant menu, no choice of fresh vegetables or new/mash or roasted potatoes was available. Beside the side order the food was cooked reasonably well but very over priced as was the wine at £20 for a bottle of Pino??. We spent in excess of £200! There was quite a wait between courses as there were no other staff but the tables were pretty much full and our final order of coffee came out just barely warm! I didnt bother to send that back as we were now keen to leave. Sadly we wont be returning and we wont be singing any praises about the place to others. Such a shame really because the surrounding and decor are really lovely and there is a cosy feel to it and set in a lovely rural village too! they could do so much better with very little effort.

We were on our way to Longleat and thought it best to eat before we got there so we saw the signs to the Angel Inn and arrived just after 12 midday. They had just opened for meals so the restaurant was empty and we were shown straight to a table by a friendly member of staff. The inside I would describe as well decorated, clean and comfortable. With drinks ordered we choose meals from the menu and specials boards. My husband had the mushroom and tarragon soup which he said was delicious and it was served very hot. Mains were ham egg and chips but not just ordinary: the chips were three times cooked so fluffy inside, crispy outside. The ham was thick cut Wiltshire ham which was extremely tasty and the eggs were perfectly cooked. Really enjoyed it, large portion size and reasonable priced. Toilets very clean. Would return when next in the area.

I must say that the Sunday Roast I had was by far one of the best I've ever had! The service was superb and the Malbec red wine is delightful! Would highly recommend!

We called in on the off chance that we could be fitted in after reading good reviews on Tripadvisor. We were staying nearby at the Travelodge and were looking for somewhere nice to eat after a day out at Longleat.We were lucky that we could be fitted in despite the restaurant being fully booked and we were very pleased that was the case.To eat, we had the king prawns and the cooked scotch egg to start and the ham and eggs and cider battered fish for mains. All of the food was really tasty and well presented and priced very reasonably.We cannot recommend this place enough as the staff were all very friendly and the food is excellent and very reasonable priced. Make sure you call to book a table!!

My parents and my wife and our 2 children aged 5 and 3 had a lovely lunch this afternoon at "The Angel Inn", Between us we had the Cider Battered Cod, Wiltshire Ham and Triple Cooked Chips, the Prawn and Chorizo Salad and a Chicken Curry. We all thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals with each member very satisfied with their own personal order which normally between us we are left feeling a little jealous but the quality on each plate was obvious to see. Our 2x yound children had a good time and enjoyed their meals the only area for improvement is we prefer our Brownies a bit less like cake and more gooey and to be a bit richer but the ice cream and sorbets we had on the table were very nice.This Pub is very fresh and you its recently been refurbished and feels very warm and welcoming with friendly staff. Overall we had a great experience and we will be recommending and will come back and visit soon.Thanks Again!

I was invited to lunch by my good friend last week.Had been before and enjoyed the burger meal so decided to do again only this time I was disappointed with the overall experience.For one the starter was a let down as it said on your menu the prawns and chorizo were sautéed . When it arrived in a bowl of soup like sauce I did quire was this what we ordered as it was not a true reflection that was stated on your menu. Very misleading to say the least. Minus the chorizo.Next the burger which I was so looking forward to arrived but a let down as the bacon which accompanied it must have reheated from breakfast !! Burger had no seasoning what so ever.As I was on slimming world I requested minus the brioche bun asking for extra sealed which was tasteless no imagination and no dressing.You dessert menu was uninspiring. So did order for fear of more disappointment.Will never visit or recommend your establishment.Was your chefs on a day off I wonder?

We've had lunch here on several occasions but not in the last year or so. I'm really pleased that we made a return visit. The service is excellent and friendly and the food even better than I remember. Added to which they offer a wide range of gluten-free options; something sadly lacking in many other restaurants. It is easy to pass by on the A36 but I strongly recommend making the short detour to Upton Scudamore if looking for a meal. I will certainly return.

With a shooting party we have used the bar, had dinner and been accommodate on a number of occasions. The welcome has always been warm and friendly, Nothing is too much trouble, An excellent range of beers, lagers and ciders in the bar, the restaurant serves excellent cuisine (including breakfast) and the rooms are of the highest order. We shall stay again.

Stopped here for midweek lunch. Located in a neat village just outside Warminster off the A36, the restaurant has an attractive contemporary design but which is in keeping with an older building. It was quiet but the service was good, friendly and efficient. The burger was excellent & sandwich well prepared. Reccomend

This was our second visit to this restaurant, the first time was around three years ago. I was very pleased to enjoy the spicy tiger prawns starter, and the poshest and tastiest burger I have ever eaten. All rounded off with an unusual mint flavoured crime brûlée. The service was spot on, and we really enjoyed the evening, and we will definitely pay the Angel a return visit.

Food was good but I could nit pick a little! 1. We were asked if the meal was OK before we had started to eat! 2. On the way in we paused at the top of some steps not sure which direction to take (as at least for me it was some 15 years since my last visit) and a member of staff said hello and then walked off! Next time say hello and can I help if folk are dithering at the top of the steps!! 3. Loved the light shades but the bulbs inside were a little too dazzling for me...HOWEVER would certainly eat here again, good food, a nice selection and pleasant 'ambiance' if that is the posh word! P.S. lots of parking out at the back...

The food is phenomenal. Adam the chef is getting his dream kitchen! We have reviewed the Angel as being something special, with boutique rooms and bathrooms to match. The duvet made me almost homicidal I was so reluctant to get out of bed each morning!

We stayed at the 'Angel Inn' overnight whilst visiting Longleat. It was Valentine's weekend so I wanted somewhere with a good reputation, good accommodation and good food to impress the Mrs. This place didn't disappoint. The room itself was large, clean and modern, the bed was really comfortable too with good pillows. Apparently the soft lighting in the room isn't very good for putting on makeup! The pub/restaurant is also nicely decorated and clean. The staff were very helpful and the food is great. I just wished that I could of ordered food off the normal menu rather than the valentines menu because I had made plans with my stomach that we were going to be eating 'Scotch Egg'!!Anyway, the following morning after a quiet nights sleep we had breakfast, which again was great with a fabulous choice.If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely visit the Angel Inn again.

We've been coming here for several years now, and although some things & people have changed over the years, it's still our favourite local place. The staff, service & food are always fantastic, we always have a lovely time whether it's lunch, dinner or even staying over in the b&b for special occasions. Looking forward to our next visit already!

A large group of us, 32, pre booked and pre ordered a set amount of food. I ordered a mighty burger along with a few others and what arrived was not. There were large differences with all the burgers as it was clear they had run out of some of the ingredients as mine arrived with no pulled pork and no onion ring with no explanation. Others had ordered different steaks with of course different cooking requirements which they all arrived medium rare sirloins. As the ordered was pre booked over 14 hours previous they should have been able to accommodate or at least present an explanation unhappy customer along with a few other friends :(

Our second visit since new hosts taken over.We had been coming here for nearly 15 years before recession bit.Since new owners took over last year we have visited twice and still enjoy the experience, as one of our 'gems'. It's always a treat for us. Unfortunately we have moved further away so don't pass through as often.The new hosts are friendly and always pleased to welcome us.The food has NEVER disappointed and service always prompt, courteous and professional, but warm and friendly.Service and food has ALWAYS brought us back, need we say more? Keep up the good work!

The team at The Angel excelled themselves last night when 30 rowers and wives/partners were entertained to a superb meal. The food was imaginative, well presented and delicious and, considering the numbers involved, could not have been fresher. We took over the higher level of the restaurant and had the room to ourselves. The service was quick, courteous and attentive and at no time did one feel rushed. We had pre-ordered from a menu that had been given to us several weeks before the event and the food appeared effortlessly from the kitchen. I can thoroughly recommend any local group taking advantage of this great dining experience

Went here for Sunday lunch; family including a toddler. Wasn't impressed at all. To be fair, the decor is lovely, and the waiters/waitresses are very polite, it's very easy to reach and has ample parking.However; the menu was very limited. A couple of us ordered the beef, it arrived very (very!) pink. We weren't asked if we like it like this, and we don't. A toddler was sharing one of our meals and so we couldn't feed it to them. The waitress kindly agreed to take it back, but this mean a 10 minute wait so our table ate in relays (which isnt very social!). The food was ok, but wasn't 'out of this world'.Service was slow; a couple came in at the same time as us and both parties were seated together and orders taken. The couple had finished their starters and were having their plates collected as we were still chasing our drinks order.I won't bother going here again; it was very over-priced for what it was. We tried to get into The George at Longbridge Deverill and The Angel at Heytesbury and they were both full ..... now we know why this place had spaces.

Was looking for some very nice food and I found the Angel Inn after working nearby for a couple of weeks. This place is somewhere between 'The Bell, Waltham St.Lawrence' and 'The Coach, Marlow'. Very good, hearty food cooked and served with panache and style. So good that I changed my plans, now staying B&B here for the next couple of working weeks, simple. Beautifully moist and runny free-range hen scotch egg with delicious homemade bacon and tomato sauce. 'Dish of the day' baked hake with green beans, mange tout, sautéed squash. Moist warm apple and cinnamon pudding drizzled with toffee sauce, ice-cream. Enough choice to keep me busy for several more visits.

4 minutes off of the A36, thoroughly recommend this traditional English Inn, it's setting is beautiful and the food lovely, service was prompt and reasonably priced food for the quality. 10/10 - the all steak burger is amazing (especially the chilli jam)

Brilliant village pub with a warm welcome and service..The menu is great and on Sundays the roast selection is outstanding.The beer and wine range is up to scratch and all in all very good value.

We called in for a meal having seen the signs on main road and expecting just ordinary pub food. We were warmly welcomed and staffwerefriendle and efficient throughout. The menu was interesting and the quality of the food fantastic. Favourites were lamb suet pudding and the best garlic prawns I have ever tasted. Would definitely recommend, and if we lived closer it would definitely be our regular!

If you want first class food, excellent service and a beautiful kept room and a fantastic bed to sleep in, then you must book and stay at The Angel Inn, Upton Scudamore. When staying in the area I will always try to book a room here, well worth a re-visit again an again.

The Angel Inn has recently been taken over and I'm sure if our dinner last night was anything to go by, it will soon be even busier than it already is. We experienced delicious food from a well thought out and tempting menu. The scotch egg starter promoted food envy amongst our party of 5... Truly delicious. The Chicken supreme was exquisite as was the pork belly and our daughter tucked into the fish and chips. All was delivered with prompt and friendly service and was reasonably priced. An absolute delight of an evening. We will be back!

Staying nearby with friends we decided to eat here. We were not disappointed - lovely dining area, well spaced tables. Food was good and service was excellent.

We eat here all the time and are always happy with the food and service, I can only assume the previous bad review below was from someone trying to get a free night - everything they said was bad was just not true. You always get a friendly welcome and good service by all of the staff, since the new owners have taken over they have done some amazing upgrades to the decor and furniture, there is now always lots of people eating and staying here, it's become very popular.

Food tonight was delicious. Service fantastic. Best meal we have had in a long time. Fishcakes and swordfish was outstanding. Desserts delightful. Everyone should visit. Great value; great food; great service and great pub/hotel.

Booked two nights B&B at the Angel for a trip to Longleat to celebrate our daughters 9th birthday. Fantastic family room, spotlessly clean and modern. We ate in the restaurant on the Friday evening and couldn't fault the food. Fantastic presentation and the taste and quality was outstanding. The staff were friendly and couldnt do more for you. Highly recommended, thanks for a great weekend !

Me and my boyfriend decided to book this hotel for our anniversary . On the web site it clearly stated for 2 nights it would be a 100 pound . I called up and spoke to Lauren who happily confirmed this over the phone . We arrived on the Friday night and went up to our rooms to what we can only describe as a freezer . The rooms are freezing cold and very damp with no heating or warmth to warm the Room up the rooms are very dusty which is not good for an allergy suffer which made my breathing very bad. Once we got into our rooms and ready for bed we then noticed that the double bed wasn't actually a double bed it was 2 small singles stuck together which meant myself or my boyfriend would end up falling down a massive crack in the middle of the bed and also feel our feet dangling of the end of the bed , not ideal when you have been a work all day and drove over 3 hours ! Once we got into bed all night long we could hear the pub being very rowdy and loud which meant we never got very much sleep all night this was very distressing and made us both very sleep deprived! If you think that is bad , breakfast wasn't any better , very limited selection (if you could call it that) they only offer you 1 cooked breakfast which is not great if you are vegetarian . You basically get a cooked breakfast or you have stale cereal . We then came to check out which was a massive shock ! After confirming over the phone with LAUREN! It would be 200 pound for 1 night we were give a bill of 200 pound which was not what was agreed and confirmed over the phone . I then asked to speak to the manager who was very rude and stuck up . Her Husband and her self who clearly must be in short for money to con people out of 200 pound for a terrible breakfast , 2 beds which are stuck together and freezing cold room. I feel like our over all experience was very disappointing and I feel we were very miss sold a luxury double room I think they mean 2 single terrible beds Stuck together

A friend and I were just passing and thought we would give it a try. Its always a good sign when you have to struggle to find a parking space. We did not book a table and were told there would be a small wait, the restaurant was very busy.After a small delay we were shown to our table in what was a wonderful but very packed restaurant. The food was fantastic !! The Goats cheese starter was the best I have eaten in a long time. The presentation of this plate was simply beautiful, the taste just something else This was followed by the Sea Bass and I did not want the meal to finish. The staff were really attentive but not in your face at all. We left the Angel feeling very well fed and next time we venture out of London we both have said that we would come here again. Even better I was told that they have VERY comfortable rooms to rent. Have a look on their website for details.

We booked on a Wednesday evening, didn't think I would need to but turned out I made the right decision as there were many tables already there.I haven't been here for a while and was aware they had changed hands and I have to say I was very impressed.The wine selection was good and varied, the food was excellent and loads of it for the money. As others have mentioned the scotch egg starter is a winner.We were stuffed after our mains but managed to force a pudding for 2 down !Overall we both loved it and think the decoration inside is spot on and you feel welcomed by the staff.We will defiantly return, worth seeking it out.

Been here lots of times and it always comes up trumps. Offers good food and friendly service. Have been for lunch and dinner and also Unday lunch. Really very good

Never written a review before. Rang and got a table last minute on a Saturday night as a restaurant higher rated on trip advisor was awful, service friendly and food gorgeous. Very good prices Aswel. Partner works away in wylye so happy we have found somewhere nice to eat

I have recently visited the Angel at Upton Scudamore and must say what an experience it was, lovely food, good service and a very nice atmosphere.I would certainly recommend any one wishing to have a bite to go it's well worth a visit

Popped in with drinking chum last night .Had heard that the new owners ,from September 2014 , had rescued this village pub. Excellent interior furnishings , work still in progress in some areas but quality fittings much in evidence. Apparently the bedrooms have been totally refurbished to a very high standard which is much needed in the area.

We three arrived without a booking 15 minutes after the kitchen had closed. No problem the chef would cook for us. Lovely waitress not at all phased by our various special requests. We all had fish and it was excellent. Wel worth the visit and we will go again

Great menu here and food is fantastic, I had a steak which is obviously easy to do but it was delicious and I can thoroughly recommend. All food looked good in our party and I believe clean plates all round!

Took the in-laws here when they were visiting and had an excellent meal. Service was very good and they quickly fixed a slight mistake on the bill. We will definitely be back soon for another visit. I'd recommend the Scotch Egg starter, the chilli and bacon jam was awesome.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here. Lots of meat and vegetables, more gravy was offered which we accepted. Everything was very tasty. The wine was about £15 a bottle which competitive. Good range of puddings, home made ice cream was particularly good. Stowford Press Cider was £3.40 a pint and they also had Buttcombe Bitter on tap. We were very well taken care of from coming through the door to leaving. Only gripe was I would have liked a sharp knife to cut the beef as it was quite rare. Will certainly be back.

What a special place the location is lovely the staff are fantastic and the food is excellent we will definitely be recommending it and becoming regular customers as it's such a nice environment

I recently had a mothers day meal here (a treat from my daughters). The restaurant itself has been refurbished and looks lovely, I felt the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming. I have to say the food was amazing I have eaten in many different restaurants over the years including Michelin Starred and my meal easily rated with some of the best I have tried. I had a warm scotch egg for starter which was that perfect combination of crunch and soft oozing egg, Yummy! The steak as a mains was cooked perfectly and really tender . Then desert was brownie and homemade ice cream , what more could you want! I heartily recommend a visit to try this out for yourself. The only slight criticism I would say is the young lady who was our waitress seems quite inexperienced and could benefit from some training as she could have been more attentive and also I would have liked some explanation or enthusiasm about the food she was serving. However all in all the friendly welcome and amazing food more than made up for the inexperienced waitress

Good service, good food, bit pricey (almost London prices) but the restaurant was full by 1.30pm with clearly well-heeled customers (including well behaved kids) who obviously know they are getting good food and good service without having to put up with the sort of noise and disruptions that occur at lesser places. Bit surprised to see that the menu was a bit limited and wine needs to be bought by the bottle only.I've been going to the Angel for a drink and/or food occasionally since the early 80s. It has gone through several transitions from busy rural village pub to gastro pub to expanded gastro pub/restaurant still with main bar room then a few years ago the bar area became just a restaurant room with a new smaller bar area created and a bigger terrace area facing the car park. It is now a high quality restaurant with bar rather than a pub. In my opinion, the new owners (since autumn 2014) are focused on quality if not a wide menu, with good food and good service as their priority. Hopefully their menu will expand.

I have been to the Angel Inn to eat several times, On both dinner and lunch occasions, the menu is good, if your not feeling the fancy restaurant food their is plenty of good Pub style meals to choose from. Presentation is always good and portions and certainly not disappointing and priced competitively. Service staff are always polite and friendly. I would highly recommend the scotch egg for starter and the burger for lunch, If you are eating in the evening the steaks are perfectly cooked to your taste with an array of sauces. Well worth the visit you won't be disappointed
