Website showed great promise. Kerbside appeal good, car parking good, service very good ( very helpful and friendly). Strange layout inside as its old building, dining room has no bar. Garden not used to its full potential, only very old tired play equipment for children. Food reasonable, 2 out of 3 meals okay. Third meal of chicken disappointing, either poor quality meat or overcooked or possibly both !!!!! Empty on a nice sunny lunchtime !!! Sorry but would not rush back.

We had my partners 60th birthday party here, everything was amazing, the staff, the room and the buffet was lovely. We then came back for Sunday lunch to finish off the weekend. This was also superb! Scotch Egg to start followed by Roast Beef, the cauliflower cheese was amazing and should be on the menu on its own!!! Would highly recommend.

A couple of weeks ago, Mum & I were in Bradford on Avon town centre as we had seen a few pubs advertised in a local magazine. One pub was overly busy, so we decided to check this one out when we found out they were still serving food mid afternoon. It is a family/dog friendly pub at the end of a small residential area. It was actually quiet in the pub & I just assumed it was because it was late in the day. We later found out there was a large party gathering on the other side of the pub. We would never have known but it did explain why service was slow. The three young girl servers were all very pleasant but somewhat inexperienced. The manager is a lovely guy & really came across like he really cares about his customers so that gave us a good impression. Both my mum & I commented on how good the food was & we both agreed that it was a very relaxed pub with the right ambience so we will definitely consider another visit here.

After a busy couple of weeks we just needed to stop and recharge so treated ourselves to a nice lunch. The pub itself is welcoming and warm and was quite busy but that didn’t stop the service being great. We both had the garlic mushrooms to start and they were fantastic a real naughty treat with that rich creamy garlic sauce. For mains I had the pie which was packed full of meat (turkey and bacon) in an onion gravy served with chunky chips and seasonal veg that could not have tasted fresher. Also with a side of gravy. My other half had the vegan wellington with chunky chips and seasonal vegetables and again it was lovely. Both the pie and the wellington had wonderful light pastry too! We both wanted pudding but we were also silty stuffed so we will save that for another visit! Overall, lovely pub with fantastic service and absolutely quality home cooked food at a reasonable price!

The waiting staff were rushed off their feet and some of them were very inexperienced but our Sunday lunch was good when we finally got it. Two of our party were coeliac and were told that they couldn't have gluten free gravy with their gluten free roast!! We insisted and finally got something resembling gravy. The head waitress went out of her way to be helpful and we ended up enjoying our visit.

Visiting from abroad me and my partner stayed in April Cottage. We visited lots of places around the town and visited the dog and fox on a beautiful sunny evening. We hadn’t planned on eating here but so many other people were when we arrived we thought we might try. We had the charcuterie to share fish and chips and a burger. The service was excellent and charismatic despite struggling to keep up with demand. Would be a 10 star if possible.

Booked a table for Sunday Lunch, and to be honest for £18.50 I expect another slice of beef (2 small slices served) more than two roast potatoes which were cold, and something green. There was no broccoli, peas or beans etc, just picked cabbage which is not something everybody likes. It was all over priced. The brownie pudding for £7 came with the smallest scoop of ice cream I've seen, although the eton mess was lovely. Atmosphere and service in pub lovely, just improve the roast. Too expensive for what it was. Sorry guys.

For my late mother we had a wake at a pub in colerne called the 6 Bells. They don't do food at the moment but its owned/run by the same family who own the The Dog and Fox. They proved the food (And venue) and I was amazed by the quality of sandwiches, tiny donuts, and nibbles they provided. I've had people tell me how they enjoyed the "Proper cuts of ham" and that "the fillings were made to be eaten." There were good dietary options - and this was never asked for or specified. Everything was perfect without me having to lift a finger - a huge relief while dealing with sudden bereavement, funeral plans, ect. I have only good things to say about what they provided. It was also a great price compared to other options. I'm so glad the day went well.

We eat around the area a lot. The Dog and Fox most definitely gets our vote for the best Sunday Roast. The meat (whatever you choose) is fantastic every time. The veg are always cooked perfectly and the roasters are proper home-made roasters. Dropped in here for dinner before Taikyo Drumming at Wiltshire MusicCentre. Very convenient for this site. It was raining and miserable outside so nice to be welcomed into the pub with a quietly buzzing hum of conversation and a fire in the dining room. We were attended to promptly, and our ‘need for speed’ acknowledged. The wait was a little longer than we expected, giving us 15 minutes to eat our meals. I had a very tender sirloin with an appetisinglypresented and tasty salad and very hot chips. My friend had beef and ale pie which she said was steaming hot and delicious. I’d go back.

This is a lovely older style pub with a cosy bar on one side and a larger with tables for eating or drink with a lovely open fire. The service is very good and friendly. A good choice of main dishes and excellent sandwiches or soup for lunch. There is plenty of outside room too around the pub situated on the edge of countryside in a small hamlet and on the edges of the atttractive town of Bradford on Avon. Being on a quieter road going out into the countryside it is a peaceful place to sit over a drink or a meal. Just as inviting on a chilly day as on a fine day when it is very pleasant out the front and not a lot of noisy traffic going by! There is even a good play area at the side for the children. Stumbled on this place whilst on a drive. Went in to have a drink and ended up staying for Sunday lunch.Food was amazing. Lydia the chef is turning out great, hearty home cooked meals. I looked around and every plate was going back to the kitchen clean. In fact, I we'd both not been brought up better, I'd have licked mine clean.Tasty beef, great yorkshire and a nice selection of veg. Shame we live over 150 miles away, as I would gladly come here again.

Food, drink and atmosphere were all spot on for a lovely Sunday pub lunch after a long walk from Bath to Bradford-On-Avon along the canal. The landlord/lady generously catered for the dogs by giving them biscuits, they came and asked after the food for every course, supplied drinks regularly and sat and chat once we had finished our meal. Having the rugby on in the background provided a great backdrop, especially as England won. Would highly recommend it- it isn't a gastropub and it doesn't pretend to be- it is much more like being cooked for by an old friend in their own home

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

After a busy morning trawling through Trowbridge, I came upon this little place 🐟quite by accident but I'm glad I did as I was famished. It wasn't hard to decide what to have: plaice and chips, and it was delicious! The staff were all absolutely lovely, so friendly, helpful and polite. My experience with service went swimmingly. I recommend getting a bite here. (All fishing/fish puns in this review were fully intended! 😁)
