Dined at Hywel Jones for a 40th anniversary and would recommend it to anyone. I had the 9 course tasting menu while my wife had the veggie equivalent. It sounds a lot but all the courses were small but delightfully presented and, over 2-3 hours, we didn’t feel uncomfortable with the volume of food. Service was polite and friendly and waiters and sommeliers took the time to fully explain each course. Ideal venue for a “special occasion” meal.

My son booked the Mothers Day lunch here which I had expected to be at the Brasserie. Imagine my surprise when - the Brasserie being closed for refurbishment - we were shown to the main restaurant. My son is an international banker and has eaten at some of the nest places in the world. We were both extremely impressed by this whole experience. Wonderful food, lovely setting and great service. Well done Lucknam park.!

We were gifted the experience of afternoon tea at Lucknam Park and were really looking forward to our visit. We arrived at the hotel and waited in reception however we were ignored so my husband went off to find a member of staff and was eventually directed to the drawing room . We were not asked if we had made a booking and there appeared to be no system in place to check We were advised to take a seat and were handed two menus.. After 10 -15 mins we were asked for our order and after approximately another 15 -20 mins our afternoon tea arrived and the server talked us through the various sandwich fillings / cakes etc From that point not one member of staff returned to enquire if everything was satisfactory, would we like any more tea, coffee, milk etc to say we were ‘invisible’ is an understatement! It was quite surreal as we were observing other couples; families etc approximately 7 small groups in total all being repeatedly approached by staff very ‘eager’ to please and as my husband observed all having their ‘tea/ coffee’ poured for them but alas just not us. When we had finished we were once again ‘ invisible’ to staff and apart from my husband asking if all was ok for us to depart it was as if we had never been there We are at a loss as to why we were treated in this way and can only assume it was because we were not local or from the ‘south west’ either way it wasn’t a pleasant experience and will not be one that we repeat. The food was ok but the whole experience left an ‘unpleasant taste in our mouths’ !!

We were looking to take our son and his fiancé somewhere special to celebrate their recent engagement and I looked at several well known Cotswold destinations for a decadent afternoon tea experience. Settled on Lucknam Park for its stunning approach, beautiful gardens and fond memories of past visits. I can’t say that anything went ‘wrong’ as such but it was all just underwhelming I’m sad to say. We sat in the drawing room and struggled for room on our table for four…all just a bit cramped, and whilst the food was very tasty, we had to ask for more sandwiches, that wasn’t a problem, but had to pay for additional two scones…(£10) they’re very small cakes, and we’re not exceptionally greedy people but just felt it was all a bit disappointing . On a positive note the grounds are stunning and the location perfect. I’d like to say that I would return, but if I’m completely honest I’d probably look to go elsewhere especially if it was a special occasion.

Difficult to review this. But I need to. Booked for afternoon tea for my wife's 50th. The afternoon tea was superb. However the service was poor. We arrived and then wandered around. No one on reception. Eventually we asked where we should go. We were told wait here and someone will be with you. It was almost fawlty towers like.. I expected more. Better service.

We have not been to Lucknam Park for 20 years- so not a regular- but this Michelin Starred restaurant was not a disappointment. All the ambiance of a country house with many places to sit in comfort deciding what to eat and drink whilst nibbling the canapés—ideal. The menu choice was easy 8 courses either vegetarian or normal. We went for the normal and it was exquisite, every course a new experience. The courses were thankfully small as we still had more than enough by the last cheese offering. It was expensive at £140 + 12.5% a head but if you are a foodie or just out for a special occasion it gets no better. David & Trish Bath

We have eaten here before and had such a wonderful time that we booked again. The food was exquisite on both our visits and presentation was impeccable. The service was neither of these things on our second visit. We received our fist course at 8pm. At 10:55pm we still did not have our dessert! No apologise just excuses. Other tables sat down ay 9pm and left before us. We waited 30 minutes for the cheese course and another 30 minutes between pre-dessert and dessert. Sadly we were not the only ones to get bad service - one couple said they just wanted to pay and leave before either dessert as the wait was so long. I am not sure why this was the case. Some tables seemed to get the usual level of service, whilst others did not. It wasn't that we were slow but rather felt like we were forgotten or got treated to a different level of service to other diners. We love the food here so we are struggling on whether we would return..... For us it is the whole package not just the food!

A birthday treat for my partner. Beautiful food on the tasting menu and they incorporated all my dietary needs (I'm Coeliac), which was great. However, due to the main restaurant being fully booked I presume, we were seated in a sub-room which felt like we were on the outside of the main event! Additionally, it cost us £20 each way in a taxi, the second of which we had to wait 45 mins for after dinner because the restaurant is "in the middle of no-where" (a direct quote from their receptionist there) and only a couple of taxi drivers will come out that way. Had they of warned us about that when they saw us arrive in a taxi, we would have pre-ordered the return journey! They didn't even offer us a nightcap while we sat in Reception waiting!

We ate here on our recent visit to Bath. The restaurant is approximately 20 minutes outside Bath. 3 choices of tasting menus. Seasonal. Signature or vegetarian. We chose the signature and they adapted a few courses for our dietary requirements, we had the wine flights to match. Food was outstanding in taste and presentation. We can see why they have a coveted Michelin star. Great service. Our only bug bear which the sommelier picked up on half way through the meal was we weren’t shown the wine we were given. We found it unusual for the wines not to be poured in front of us and also not to be listed on the menus. They explained what they were (although they did get one completely wrong!). We had a fabulous evening and would recommend

I attended afternoon tea with my girlfriends yesterday at Lucknam Park. I chose here because I have wanted to visit for years and wanted to have a look before booking for New Year’s Eve. For the price it was okay and I have given it two stars because in the surrounding area there is lots of competition and in order to return somewhere I need to be blown away. Which I wasn’t. When we arrived we didn’t actually know how to enter, there are automatic electric gates and it would have been handy if they had mentioned this upon booking. Upon arrival it was lovely, the building is beautiful and the surrounding trees and fields are lovely and autumnal. When we were seated for afternoon tea we weren’t offered the option of champagne. I found this quite surprising as it meant that they missed out on roughly £15 per person and being a table of 5 that’s £75! You would assume during Covid that up selling is important?? We were then asked what tea we wanted but had to request a menu - again I understand Covid restrictions but the menus were laminated and so they can easily clean them. It just came across as lazy. The afternoon tea itself was okay. The flavours were okay. I can’t really remember what we had which kind of says it all. We also weren’t at any point offered extra sandwiches or cakes and having been to afternoon tea at the Ritz, Gidleigh Park etc I thought this was unusual. Overall I wouldn’t return, I didn’t find the service overly welcoming or the food particularly great so we plan to go elsewhere next time and I’m going to book somewhere else for New Year’s Eve. I think it’s really important that businesses focus on customer service as during a recession the competition is always high. Hopefully Lucknam Park can rethink their approach and then maybe one day I will return.

I booked during lockdown afternoon tea, as a special birthday treat for partner. They were given my contact number. On Friday 21st August, in the morning I sent hotel an email confirming booking. In afternoon, just as I was about to leave home I was sent an email words to the effect that my booking was cancelled and only open to resident guests! This was a terrible disappointment. I then had to inform my partner, but too late to book elsewhere. I was then sent an email from the hotel saying they could accolade us for tea, even though we were not resident guests. I was told I would be able to see the manager Mr.[-]. On arriving, I was told Mr.[-] was not available. After tea, as I paid the bill I asked again to see Mr.[-], but again he was not available. It turned out that there were a group for tea who were not resident guests either. On returning home I looked at the photo gallery of staff of Lucknam Park and recognised Mr.[-] . He had indeed been spotted throughout the tea, even made eye contact with me, but did not have the manners to address me! I sent an email to Mr.[-]. Asking why he had not been available when I obviously saw him. I also asked for name and email of Chairman. I eventually had a long meandering email from him re Covid. He did not answer either question. I have since written a letter to the Chairman. I am not a person looking for a freebie. However, in this case I did ask the Chairman for one. I am a registered Nurse, working frontline with Covid, often under pressure. Nevertheless I treat people in a calm and respectful way. It does not surprise me that Mr.Harry [-] as decided not to respond. I am a local person and have been to Lucknam House many times, even recommending them,. I shall not be recommending in the future. Our waiter, who served tea was lovely.

It is a favourite weekend retreat of theirs and they stay regularly. We arrived early to have fun with our 11-month old grandson in The Hideaway, a fabulous chalet with multiple rooms with toys and soft play areas for from sitting/crawling age to probably (c) 11-years. Beautiful and varied equipment overseen by a delightful lady.We had AT in one of the lovely Drawing Rooms sitting in very comfortable arm or fireside chairs. The AT was an eclectic mix of sandwiches, sweet and savoury items, lovely cakes, and scones, with a wide choice of teas.Everything was perfect, including the efficient, professional and friendly members of staff. We are seasoned AT-ers at Country House Hotels throughout the Wilts/Glos/Somerset/Bristol counties over a couple of decades and on a monthly basis, and I think that I can safely say that LP is now No.1 on our list of favourites. Went to the restaurant in October and it was fairly full. That being said, the service was excellent and and the food deserving of it’s Michelin star. We opted for the A La Carte Menu and had a cheeseboard prior to the dessert.Being Pescatarians, we had some really nice options to choose from and were not constrained by the one menu...we chose one dish we fancied from the taster menu. The team were very flexible and eager to please. When the food arrived it was faultless. Hywel Jones is to be commended on his flavoursome food...some of the best I’ve tasted!I love the cheese trolley (which had some of my favourite cheeses!), so much selection and the cheeseboard was served by a delightful young lady who systematically went through the selection with such knowledge and enthusiasm for her food. The pudding had to be soufflé and that was a real treat. Well done Hywel...will be back over the border soon, for some more of your culinary delights!

The drawing room where you have your pre dinner drink and make your choices was delightful. When it comes to the food it was absolutely exceptional. We chose from the A La Carte and actually for £87pp it’s not out of order price wise. As I was driving we didn’t drink much but I found the drinks offering extremely tempting. The food wasnt too great to be honest. Starters of Scallops were good , leek soup was average. The bread and canapes were beautiful , mains were bland - flavour lacking. Deserts were average. Overall not a huge choice of food . I can say though the service was exceptional especially from a waiter called Wajid who webt above and beyond in helping us. He is a real asset The restaurant also let us have our desert in the library in front of the fire which was amazing and very kind of them. They set up the tabl for us especially as i was feeling cold in the restaurant. I wanted to leave a better ratinf for this restaurant but had to give just 3 stars as the food did let us down. Hopefully when i am down south again there will a vast improvement and the food will match the service provided. All the best guys :)

We have just enjoyed an exquisite full afternoon tea here. We quite often purchase afternoon tea vouchers for my mother in law as gifts, so we have plenty to compare with. Without a doubt this is the best we have had anywhere, even better than the Ritz in our eyes. It was so refreshing to get more savoury options than we have with any other we’ve had, as it’s usually just the sandwiches. The warm broccoli and stilton tart was divine, the pastry just melted in your mouth. We couldn’t fault anything, full marks to the chef, kitchen and all the staff who were very friendly and attentive. We would definitely recommend it to friends and will be visiting again. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

Enjoyed it more than Le Manoir, The Dorchester, The Hand of Flowers, The Priory. Up there with Le Chanteclere and Gidleigh. Personable as my favourite Claridges, and even better cooking than last time we were there. Style is confidently grand country house with shiny floors, log fires and extravagant swags of curtains. Tasting menu was outstanding at each course, the wine pairing impressive. For me the one limiting factor might be choice, but still 5*. Three interesting tasting menus and a limited a la carte. The wine list offers lots of interest and variety but perhaps not the depth of some. My wife always wants more red than the typical wine flight, and the resourceful sommelier put together a bespoke 6 to suit both her taste and the menu. Impressive and successful. We were offered a light-hearted blind tasting and a taste of the intriguing Chinese icewine. All this in a pleasant atmosphere of comfort and cushions.

Booked this in 2018 for a good friends Birthday in January 2019. Arrived to a warm reception and shown into the lounge for menu choosing and drinks. We were booked for the Tasting Menu and one chose the Seasonal with three for the Signature. Two of us also opted for the wine flight. The Dining Room is spacious and we did not feel we were too close to the next table. The wine flight was proceeded by two black wine glasses with a competition to guess the wine, country and region. Well we got white (temperature of the glass) and Chardonnay but failed on France and Maconnais. It was delicious though. Each course was served and described along with accompanying wines. I have attached the food menus and the wine flight. We each had our own favourites but mine was the Turbot and the two ways Lamb. A special mention for the Restaurant Manageress who delivered the descriptions for the twenty cheeses on the tray with such passion and knowledge. We all loved the Lancashire Bomb Cheddar, so much so we have looked up where we can buy it. Favourite wine was the Joseph Swann Pinot Noir which was served alongside the Lamb. Our friend was delivered the plate with two chocolate sweets and the written Happy Birthday inscription. A lovely touch. This restaurant thoroughly deserves its Michelin rating and we all enjoyed a superb meal, professionally served at just the right pace. We arrived at 730 and left at 1130 after enjoying coffees in the lounge. Certainly worth the cost and I must say on reflection the best Tasting Menu I have ever experienced probably in no small part to the excellent pairing of the wines.

We had Sunday lunch here and the food was very good as you would expect of an establishment whose chef has a Michelin star. One or two of the serving staff seemed uncertain of what they should do next but perhaps they were new employees or in training. One of our drinks was delivered to another table before we attracted the waiter's attention to get him to bring it to us. The service was definitely leisurely and we seemed to get forgotten as people who came into the dining room some time after us, and had the same number of courses that we did, were served ahead of us, finished their meals, and left before we did. However, we were not in any great hurry, although 2 hours for a 3 course meal and an amuse bouche in a restaurant that was not full did seem a little excessive.

We ate here whilst on a 2 night stay at the hotel. We chose this hotel and spa predominately for the spa however the appeal of a Michelin star restaurant swayed us. First thing to say is that we eat in top restaurants on a regular basis and are able to draw comparisons, here the environment and the service are wonderful, top class and probably the best received anywhere. Sadly the front of house service wasn't matched with what came our of the kitchen. the menu is very limited with a choice of 2 taster menu, a veggie taster and what they refer to as an a-la-carte which to be honest is a simple TDH with very limited choice none of which where very inspiring.

Luckhnam park, home to the well heeled horsey crowd, is a classic building set in beautiful grounds and with great walking to be had nearby. The staff make good use of the setting to create a really special atmosphere. You start off with drinks in one of the reception rooms over looking the park and then, after choosing your meal, are led through to one of several dining rooms. All very spacious and again with views over the park. The service is impeccable. As you would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant the food is of a very high standard. The starters and deserts were gorgeous (and yes I tried a bit of everyone's). My only quibble, food wise, were the roast potatoes; a bit tough. Another little nit pick was the lack of a drought real ale; 'craft' bottle beers just don't do it for me. This would really upset me if I were staying over night or heading back after a hack out.

The restaurant is set inside the main hotel building with tables in the dining room itself and an adjacent room. Very elegant and bright setting in keeping with the décor in the rest of the hotel.

The guests were packed in to any spare nook or cranny, all having to talk over each other to their annoyance. This resulted in the room having a tense atmosphere that you could tell nobody was enjoying.

The restaurant is a lovely room both in the day and in the evening, and while the decoration is quite classic, the service is not too fussy. Everyone is efficient and friendly. Our meal was wonderful. Despite its many courses one did not feel overfed which I often find a problem when visiting a Michelin restaurant. While I did not do the pairings my husband did and each glass of wine was a nice surprise.

We have been to Lucknam Park twice in the last month... Given that we go out to eat fairly rarely, this is pretty remarkable and is some indication of how brilliant we think this place is. Our first visit was for a birthday dinner and, inspired by its quality, took my 85 year old mother there for afternoon tea a fortnight later. On both occasions the food was imaginative, faultlessly executed and served graciously in stunning surroundings. It is tempting to wax lyrical about every detail; suffice to say that it takes real skill to turn a ham & tomato sandwich into something celestial. It would not be hyperbole to say that the food here is inspiring. Yes, it's expensive but we have frequently paid half as much for meals that were less than a quarter as good: one trip to Lucknam Park each year or two meals in many of the local "gastro-pubs" - no contest!

I booked a table for my wife and I for her birthday. We had drinks in a sitting rooms before being seated for dinner. The service was attentive and excellent. The food itself must rate as one of the best we have had (which includes, Richard Corrigan and Michel Roux Jr) After dinner we retired to the library for hot chocolate. Would not hesitate to recommend.

The elegant surroundings compliment the food and wine. Prior to arriving in the dining room we had drinks in the lounge, good choice of spirits, we chose a different gin, which was served well. Accompanied by 3 freshly made appetisers, which were good. We chose the signature tasting menu and we were not disappointed, beautiful quality food served with well balanced combinations of flavours. We were surprised at the end when another course arrived after we thought we had finished ... it was our wedding anniversary and a decorated plate arrived which also contained fresh chocolates. The whole experience was managed by a well coordinated team of staff who looked after us quietly but efficiently. We can't wait to return.

We dropped by for a high tea experience and booked ahead. We were running late for our sitting because of an accident on the M6 (horrendously slow) and we were 1 hour late. The sweets and scones were so pretty and delicious. We had carrot cake, rhubarb and ginger something, raspberry tartlet, plain scone and fruit scone... the jam was superb. The sandwiches were average. The bread was too thick and fillings were minimal. The earl grey tea was delicious and they had soy milk - excellent!Service was pleasant but rather slow.Went for an enjoyable walk through the grounds afterwards. This is definitely on my wish list to return stay eat and spa!

We had Hywel Jones' Signature Tasting Menu, which did not have a single unworthy dish amongst the many courses. The highlight was the pork, apple and duck's liver closely followed by the Scottish scallop with artichoke and leeks. Great cookery and service with an extensive wine menu. Top quality. We saw him at breakfast too, which was good.

We were only passing through so to speak because we were involved in some location filming which is why I cant provide people with much info, however I can say we were made very welcome by all the staff who were all very helpful and tentative.I will tell you what I know which is there is a very large car park a short walk to the Hotel and along very smooth roads so if in a wheelchair you would find it easy to move. There is an equestrian centre here if you like Horse riding and a children's play area within a building. We were clay pigeon shooting which if you haven't tried it then perhaps you should, my wife and I were first timers and it was great, the trainer Pete was brilliant. We had sandwiches and afternoon cream tea which were all wonderful and at a reasonable cost considering the splendid surroundings you are in.We were later told that back in world war 2 the house was taken over for Air force officer to use and during Air raids they used to push the spitfires in between the Trees which line the driveway so they could not been seen from the air. That's all I've got I'm afraid, I can only say what a wonderful place this is with wonderful people there to help and I'm sure my wife and I will return one day. Thank you

Nice hotel and nice grounds, but a very disappointing Afternoon Tea.They don't really seem that interested, which is a shame. We visited on a cold windy and rainy Winters day, and were really looking forward to celebrating a birthday with a nice leisurely afternoon tea around a real fire. However on arriving at 2.30 pm, whilst the hotel had 3 fireplaces, 1 in the entrance hall, 1 in the library and 1 in the lounge, none of them were lit.Afternoon Tea was served in the lounge, but we were cold throughout the afternoon, (other people were also heard to complain), my wife even had to keep her coat on she was so cold.Nobody came to check on us throughout the afternoon tea service, we had to wait until a Server passed by to request more tea (when it arrived we then ound it was the wrong type of tea, but we left it as service was very slow). We also requested some more sandwiches, which unfortunately never arrived, so we eventually gave up and left.On the way out at 5pm, annoyingly we noticed that both the library and hall now had fires lit, but the lounge where Tea was being served was left without a fire, not very welcoming!I can only assume this was to save money on heating? There are many nice hotels/houses in this area to enjoy an afternoon tea, so will not be returning to this Hotel again. They may be good to stay with and for dinner, (we can't comment), but from our experience today, traditional Afternoon Tea does not seem to really interest them, which is a shame.

Had a really good chat with the assistant manager who was knowledgeable, friendly and had a good sense of humour. I had the last of the duck which was an amazing mix of flavours. As for the cheeseboard I was struggling to move after I had eaten it. A fantastic selection of very tasty cheeses. All in all an amazing experience for a valentines treat! We will be back

Went to dinner at the Park on Wednesday last week. On arrival we were shown into a fabulous reception room. There we had aperitifs and nuts/olives. It was all very relaxing. We were given menus and after much deliberation made our choices. After a short while we went into the restaurant where four other tables were occupied. We waited for our starter, and waited some more. It was an hour before it eventually arrived !! That said the scallops and crab were delicious. The main course followed fairly soon afterwards. I had chosen the venison - but the portion size was so small I thought they had served the other half to another diner. It was just as well my wife had a decent portion of turbot so she was able to pass some over to me. Notwithstanding that the flavour combinations were fantastic. The sweets were also a veritable treat. Throughout the evening the service was professional, although you had the feeling that the staff were not comfortable or willing to engage with customers. The quality of the food was outstanding but the experience would have been enhanced if the staff haven't been quite so aloof.

Although there's no denying that the hotel is stunning and in a gorgeous setting, both my husband and I were disappointed with the afternoon tea.Yes it's very fairly priced but the sandwiches were dry and our waiter didn't even talk us through what we were eating - not something you'd expect from a luxury hotel. If you do make a booking, would suggest arriving early to take a walk around the grounds.

We decided to order from the main menu instead of the gourmet menu, as we aren't big fish eaters. The food was beautifully presented and had so much flavour. One of the best meals I've ever had. Wow, truly amazing food. Had been here before and enjoyed the food as part of a Christmas celebration. This was our first dinner as diners rather than part of an event. Thankfully we choose the 'Gourmet' menu, which is a tasting menu. What a treat, from the first dish of crab through to the so tasty and amazing lamb and the wonderful, never tasted anything like it, creme brûlée. There was never a dish that was not a taste delight. Better than many of the star restaurants that we have visited around the world. Lovely service and delicious wine, thanks MIke, topped a delightful evening.

Lucknam park is an outstanding, amazing and so romantic hotel and spa in Colerne, even though it's in the middle of now where but that is really nice because you get privacy and it's top quality. Lucknam park has a Michelin starred chef, called Hywel jones, who is the best chef in Wales and he such a clever man with the style of food, the presentation and big on rich and balancing flavours which really work. The park restaurant was lovely to seat in and have fine dining, the decorations, glassware and furniture was amazing and well put together. I highly recommend this establishment and the gourmet menu, all of the dishes were full of flavour and the lamb, turbot and scallops were cook to perfect and melted in your mouth.

The restaurant was superb, as you would expect from a Michelin star, the food certainly did not disappoint, the best desert I have ever eaten! The rooms were lovely, ours overlooked the courtyard by the Spa, fabulous white bed linen, replaced daily. Beautiful en suite. We also used the Spa, brilliant massage by very professional beautician, and of course, the swimming pools. What a great way to spend three days.

My husband and I visited Lucknam Park hotel on Sunday 28th August; we had got married the previous week, so this was a little treat for us. We arrived well in advance of our reservation; drove up to the entrance, and someone came out to collect the keys and showed us to a large room past the library where we opted for a glass of champagne each. This arrived with some nuts and olives, and soon after the waitress came along with some o'dourves. We were presented with an extensive wine list, and the food menu. We had both chosen the 7 course taster menu (gourmet and vegetarian). We were soon shown to the dining room, with fantastic views of the open grounds. The waiters were very friendly, and had great knowledge of the wine on offer, as well as the food being served. As a vegetarian I was very impressed with the menu; the food was delicious and had great flavour and taste. The menu included a cheese course: the waiter wheeled to our table the cheese trolley, explained the various cheese and created a cheeseboard based on our preferences. He added a spoon of truffle honey, which was delicious. My husband and I had a great evening at Lucknam Park, the staff were very friendly, the food was delicious and the setting was gorgeous.

We took afternoon tea here on my birthday & I would say it was about the best I have experienced. Every element was perfect - delicious sandwiches, fantastic scones, amazing cakes, just the right amount not to feel bloated, lovely surroundings. True, the guy on reception spoke too quickly & indistinctly to be understood & waiting times were a bit long these were minor irritants. It is well worth the journey from Bath or further afield.

Beautiful grounds but we went there to eat to celebrate a graduation. You are ushered into a spacious sitting room in a country residence where they offer you an aperitif with olives and nuts. Then come small taster starters and you are presented with a menu. The menu was not for me so I chose one fish starter and asked for English cheeses.Once in the dining room, we were offered an amuse bouche of panna cotta, home made granola and other stuff which I did not have. My starter was minimalistic and I was presented with a cheese platter with soft French cheeses and some red grapes. When I said it was not what I had ordered, 2 pieces of Montgomery cheddar came which was nothing special. I had to ask for bread which eventually came and was good. The other 2 diners had fish and were not overly impressed. We had no desserts. One was hungry when we got back to the hotel. The establishment is somewhat pretentious and overpriced for the quality of food they offer. The dining room has clashing in style pictures and an American style sky with clouds ceiling. The staff tries too hard to appear sophisticated. I have been to better places. We would not return.

Visited here with friends as a special treat and was not dissapointed. We started off in the library with some canapes and champagne which was the perfect start to the evening with nothing too much trouble for the attentive waiting staff. One of our party was coeliac (gluten free) and the team had prepared all her meals including the canapes especially which was lovely. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing and I have to say that it was fabulous! Each of the courses was sublime and the sommelier's choice of wine, superb. Would definitely return for a visit if in the area again and cannot recommend enough from our experience.

Our experience started as we parked the car and we strolled around the grounds and we must say that the grounds are beautiful. We had canapés in the lounge while perusing the tasting menu, as I have quite a lot of allergies and a serious challenge for the kitchen team. All the food that was created for us was top notch and outstanding quality. The head chef and kitchen team deserve a lot of praise for making our night a night to remember. The Veal, Fillet Of Beef, Pork Belly, Turbot, Venison, Waldorf Salad, Pre-Desert and Mango Desert were so tasty and flavour was exploding during each course. My wife and I stayed at the Lucknam Park Hotel over the early May bank holiday weekend. We reviewed the hotel separately. Regrettably we arrive to late to keep our booking for the Park Restaurant on the Friday evening when we arrived but did better on the following evening. Our booking was 18h30 for pre-dinner drinks in the library and an opportunity to view the menu and wine list with an early dinner at 19h00.Drinks in the library was lovely. There is no bar in the main hotel (there is in the separate Brasserie) and drinks are served, very quietly, from the sideboard and drinks cabinet. My wife had a rose Champagne and I drank a Champagne cocktail. We were provided with a selection of pre-dinner appetisers which were all very lovely but, regrettably, I cannot remember what they were other than there were three each and one had a fabulous truffle flavour. We looked at the very comprehensive a la carte menu but I decided on the main taster menu and my wife had the vegetarian one.My menu started with poached Cornish langoustine with potato mousse which was divine and followed by roast Scottish diver scallop with carrot puree. The third dish was duck foie gras but as I am not keen on Foie Gras the Maitre d' kindly changed it to an equivalent course from the vegetarian menu - wye valley asparagus, which was great. Then came braised fillet of Turbot which was beautifully prepared and perfectly seasoned. The subsequent dish was the Brecon Lamb two ways but, as I am not fond of lamb I swapped it with my wife (who is) and had her vegetarian rolled lasagne of butternut squash. By this time, despite the dishes being of sensible proportion I was starting to feel as though I had definitely eaten a fair bit. We had chosen a bottle of Bordeaux (Sarget from Chateau Gruaud-Larose) which was delicious with the food and also went wonderfully well with our choice of cheeses. Dessert was a terrific vanilla creme brulee with bitter chocolate sorbet. The Vegetarian gourmet tasting menu was: Chestnut gnocchi with carrots, Salad of violet artichokes, crispy burford brown egg with creamed celeriac, wye valley asparagus, rolled lasagne of butternut squash, cheeses, vanilla creme brulee with bitter chocolate sorbet. The ambience of the restaurant is magnificently tranquil. The waiters, sommelier and maitre d' sail silently between the tables. Reassuringly present but not intrusive. The restaurant is in an excellent state of decor with finely starched, bright white table cloths and napkins. The crockery is Villeroy and Boch (I discovered that only by accident). The only slightly odd thing was the two small plats on the table in their terracotta flower pots. The terracotta didn't rally go with the sublime elegance of everything else but if all I can comment on are flower pots then the rest must be amazingly good - and it is.I would very highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for fine dining in the West Country.

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Unfortunately unable to review accomodation, food or service as we were double booked. Apparently landlords wife responsible for this so she was summoned. Landlord then completely ignored us and didnt even offer us a seat let alone an apology, this was left to his wife. She didnt seem well and was apparently in hospital at the time of our booking. She went away, 20 mins later produced £140 to cover the cost at premier inn who had ample availability and she had phoned them. Premier Inn denied any phone calls from Helen. They had one room which went whilst we were trying to book it. Plenty of certificates of awards, shame they are so old and tatty like the pub. I hate being lied to but rudeness, lies and facing a night in the car... Dont book here, disgraceful performance. Tired and niaive, should have insisted they booked it in front of us!
