They new crew should take fish and chips off the menu. It was dreadful and went straight in the bin!!! The previous owner made excellent fish and chips. We had been going there for several years.
They will be missed.
Date visited 16th Nov 2024.
Started queuing in the takeaway line and then decided to eat in. We had already chosen of the takeaway menu so ordered straight away, having not seen the sit down menu (big mistake)
Food came fairly fast and to be fair was tasty but tiny position of fish for what I thought would be £8.50 for the cod alone.
We all had one scoop of chips at best on each of our plates. The other items were another tiny fish a battered sausage and a veggie pie.one tap water one San Miguel which is from the can one oasis and one orange juice.
The mark up for sit down is a rip off at £15.50 for a small cod meal 17.50 for large (not sure large is possible).
I think we were ripped of being charged £70.50 and even at a brief view at the sit down menu after am sure we'd been overcharged. The restraunt I can concur is not in the cleanest of conditions and strangely lots of security cameras all over the place felt like big brother. I'm not sure how long these owners have been here but are new since the last time we visited, I hope they do pay attention to reviews as I feel they may not last if they carry on in the manner in which they are. We will never return to this establishment enjoy the only money you'll be getting out of us.
Wow - struggling with shopping and long Covid the wonderful staff were amazing. They offered to carry my tray to my table and were so friendly ! Thankyou !
Oh days no anymore to go to the treats in Gloucester. I'm a very disappointed.. The man who was cooking he's wash he's legs in customer toilet in sink,, very dirty and very untasted food.. Highly not recommended the threats.. Very terrible
Ordered from here for a birthday meal, me and my family were eating and found a flying ant in the noodles. I called the restaurant and was screamed at and threatened; she said she’d come to my house. The women on the phone (wang) spoke to me so appalling my mother took over and spoke to her where she accused my mum of putting hair in the food to get a refund?? After about 20 minutes of being screamed at and threatened she sent the driver to come and collect the rest of the food that we’d been put off eating due to the INSECTS? And said she’d refund what was left..the delivery driver however was lovely and even took us to the restaurant himself (as I don’t drive) to get it sorted, even he knew it was all bs. After being interrogated and wang giving my 14 year old sister a mouthful we got a refund as we said we’d call environmental health?? The delivery driver then took us home and apologised on behalf of the restaurant even tho it was not his job to do so.
Myself and my family will never be ordering from here ever again, not even because of the flying ant (it’s that time of year all the bugs come back to life) but because of the way it was handled and how myself and my 14 year old sister were treated…on my birthday no less.
I would not recommend buying anything from good wok unless you want to be interrogated, threatened and verbally abused 👍🏻
We went to Coal Kitchen as we have always had faultless food and service! Today was no different, the best roast dinner I’ve had in a long time! We were served by Natasha and throughout the service she was nothing but professional, courteous, and friendly. All the staff from the moment you walk in are a credit to Coal Kitchen.
We were totally ignored at the counter when checking in at least 6 people passed by without a word ,not a good welcome sadly the food wasn’t great at all we were a large party the focus is definitely on the carvery which I was told was ok ,but the children’s meals were awful the chicken nuggets were almost white didn’t even look like they’d seen a cooker the pizza was so tiny one little slice very poor my hunters chicken was only warm I couldn’t eat it I asked for it to be packed up for me to take home for the dog !! my daughter’s chicken burger was like a Iceland special can’t believe that every meal apart from the carvery’s were awful won’t ever set foot in there again terrible I gave a 2 because the young staff who served us were nice but a 0 otherwise if it wasn’t a celebration I would have definitely had a good moan but couldn’t spoil a birthday surprise 🥲🥲🥲
We went as a three generational birthday celebration. We went where everyone could get something they liked - and they did. I had half chicken, mash and corn on the cob. Delicious. Everyone was happy, and the good service helped. Only grumble was that the building was quite cold and because the restaurant is not cosy (that's not the point) the physical coldness is accentuated. I think I'll wait til the Summer to again, but I definitely will.
