Sadly, this Beefeater is closing down. The food wasn't so good. I had lasagne, which was all burnt to the side, and underneath and hubby's peas were cold and hard. We complained, they surpassed themselves by offering a free pudding of fruit salad, which was banging! The waitress was a credit to the restaurant. Shame she will have no job!

The last time I visited this restaurant I swore it would be the last, even a £25 voucher as compensation wasn't enough to get me to relive the awful experience that we had. It remains unspent, somewhere. Today we visited the new refurbished restaurant and it couldn't be more different. We were greeted by a friendly face and allowed to choose a table. I was advised that there would be a 45 minute wait for our food. It arrived after 20 minutes. The quality of the food was first class, the price is very good and the atmosphere clean and well ordered. We will definitely visit again.

The chips where disgusting.Surely the server putting the chips in the box could see all the chip ends. And all the black pieces in the chips.Instead of focusing on the receipts Someone should be checking the horrible chips put in the boxes at expensive prices.Worst chips ive ever had.Ate 4 or 5 chucked the rest away.Thats not the first time.

Popped in on Monday lunchtime and very much enjoyed scampi and chips - both were excellent quality and nicely presented - mushy peas are at extra cost which is fair enough. Tartare sauce is also at an extra cost and that is not so fair. Neither is it very good containing too much dill and little capers or gherkins if any. Fish and chips shops have faired badly since the pandemic. Oil prices sky high and fuel prices through the roof in addition to this - staff costs and pretty much everything else has gone up. But it’s friendlier to the customer if tartare sauce etc is included in the cost. People don’t like extra costs. Menus could do with reprinting as they are torn and don’t look good - napkins could be a little better and a slice of lemon with the fish would upgrade the dishes a little. These are not complaints just observations. The sign outside says one of the top ten fish bars in the UK. With. Little tweaking it could be No.1

I bought a pack of 5 spicy chicken goujons from here, they were delicious! Very tasty, actually spicy, and fresh and hot which is just what you want. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and professional, always nice to get customer service with a smile. Would recommend for tasty quick-grab grub.

The last time we were here was back in October 2023. Food was an acceptable standard. One dish we ordered was Beef HoFun. Unfortunately, rehydrated HoFun was used, which wasn't an issue. But on this occasion, the HoFun wasnt properly rehydrated, as a result, it was soft on the outside and hard on inside, like under cooked rice. Every eatery deserves a chance so we thought it was just an oversight. We visited again today for lunch. Big disappointment is an understatement. Food was of very poor standard. Egg tarts appeared to be from yesterday's (Chinese New Year) shift.. Oil used to deep fry the dim sum dishes we ordered definitely was old/tainted oil, which had been used to fry lobster/prawns. The roast pork belly again was most likely from yesterday's shift. The rice texture gave me the feeling it was microwave reheated. Certain steamed dim sum had the appearance/taste of frozen ready made fare from Chinese supermarkets. The service was poor and attention to detail was non existent. A waiter brought back a refilled teapot. Spilled an amount on the table and walked off. Leaving us to deal with the mess. Not a big deal, but to not acknowledge the accident wasn't very professional. Overall, it was a poor show at best. Waiting staff definitely need training, as for the food, I can only say that they need to raise their game.
