Marks and Spencer in Gloucester

We are a party of 7 family & friends sharing afternoon tea in the café. We weren’t allowed to pre-book, so caused a bit of a problem for staff, as we weren’t expected. The food and service was as good as anywhere we have been. 👍 However if we could have pre-booked it would have been fairer to all concerned. Once sorted, we thoroughly enjoyed everything.

We popped in here for a coffee whilst in town and the cafe is in the basement not making it feel a very nice place to sit for a coffee.

M&S Ca fe is OK, but not likely to startle you with anything other than good coffee and mediocre pastries. it is a bit like kissing your granny, nothing exceptional, little get over enthusiastic about. The cafe is as much as you would expect - very clean , very corporate, quite unambitious, and equally functional.

M&S Café, Gloucester. Sunday 30th Oct at 3pm. A very quiet time. Waited 10 minutes whilst a lady was trained in making hot drinks. No explanation or apology; which would have defused the situation. We seemed to be invisible whilst we sat and waited for our drinks. The only communication was to tell us we hadn’t paid, which we actually had as that is how it works. Perhaps training in handling customers should come first, or is that no longer part of the M&S ethos? Very unimpressed!

So I got the tights that I wanted and walked over to the till, there was NO SIGNAGE about where to queue so I stood behind the one person who was waiting. Soon after two men stood at the other side of the woman. She went forward to be served and as I stepped nearer the tills, the woman behind the till told me, very tersely, to stand behind the men, they were first and I was queueing on the wrong side. I'm not sure how I was meant to know as there were no barriers and no signage at all. The two gents were called forward but one of them suggested I should go first, as I was actually in the queue first, we laughed together and I suggested he went first, it wasn't that important!! We were called next, unfortunately the cashier had just had some trousers returned, so that was her priority. I'm.old enough to remember first class service in M&S, sadly none today in Cheltenham, absolutely dreadful. Needless to say we won't be returning!

As The New Inn restaurant is not as yet "doing food", we came here in our search for lunch. We chose jacket potato with cheese and two black coffees. It did seem to take an age to be served although there weren't many diners there. When we were eventually served with our order, the very nice waitress apologised for the delay, saying "we're so busy today". They weren't - so I don't know what caused the long wait. Anyway, it was worth waiting for as the jacket potato with cheese was very tasty and filling. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant, and I got a wave goodbye as we left.

I called in to the food hall as it’s so good just wondering around, and you never leave without buying something! I also had a coffee in the cafe, which was lovely. Generally the cafe was extremely clean and well run.

Cafe review: Usual fayre. Cafe on lower ground floor so access not great. Lovely hot cross bun with a cuppa. Very spacious, lots of seating. Friendly staff.

Visited 14th August staff cannot be bothered. No enthusiasm about anything. Manager just wandering around. 2 attempts at a coffee and still wrong. Young son sat at table as nothing being cleared and older people taking up larger tables when only needing 1 seat, was pushed out by older couple. So no where to sit once we had order. The whole customer experience was one of the worst & they desperately need retraining in the whole service package and hygiene levels.

Qui ho comprato tutti gli incredienti per cucinare l'amatriciana alla mia famiglia ospitante. Non mi aspettavo molto, ma mi sono ritrovata molto sorpresa dal risultato ottenuto.

Welcoming staff, producing a really good capuchino, and at a decent price. The cafe is in the basement of the building. Although we did not have a meal, the food being produced looked and smelled good.

I think M&S is just tops, and the parking at this Mall is very good and access directly to M&S foodhall, always a treat.

Excellent cafe, surprisingly quiet for 1130 on a Saturday, but we enjoyed the bacon rolls and gateaux. Our Green tea was light and refreshing. The cafe is well run , very clean and tidy, and an enjoyable place to take a break from busy shopping. Very likable place with good staff.

The staff are very friendly, obliging and helpful and the drinks, tea and coffee, are very good, but the lunch menu is limited - I used to go every week with my daughter - I had a vegetable ciabatta and she had chicken salad sandwich - then they dropped the ciabatta and changed the sandwich so I almost never have lunch there now. Also, the seating is not comfortable, especially those backless pouffees. It's clear everyone prefers the booths. Also, they've stopped the loyalty card for drinks.

Popped in for coffee and a cheese scone, lovely. Busy and a bit of a wait but this was due to the barista wandering off! The two ladies staff were obviously annoyed by this and were very apologetic. They couldn't be faulted they were a credit to M +S.

Tienes un buen plato de sopa caliente, tamaño dos rollos, que son frescos, pero mi mujer decía que eran un poco "pastoso". Siempre compartimos un sandwich de salmón y pepino.Las sopas eran buenas pero el sandwich de una decepción, demasiado frío y, como es a menudo el caso con M S, carece de sabor y condimento.Pero, lo que hace que este lugar funcione para nosotros es simplemente el personal. Son agradable, servicial, eficiente y muy trabajadora.Me gustaría dar una mención a la señora detrás de las escenas que prepara la comida, ella trabaja muy duro, mantiene muy buen nivel y es rápido. Así que, señora con la oscura trama, especificaciones bien hechas.Generalmente, el lugar está listo, limpio y ordenado. Hay trabajo en equipo aquí y se nota.La comida, bien es coherente y fresco.

Called in today for some socks and underwear nice shop very busy but staff very helpful as always there

Visited today for first time ever with son & daughter. My daughter has severe anaphylaxis to eggs & when I approached a lady in the cafe she was very helpful in finding out about specific foods that my daughter could & couldn't have and even confirmed with her colleague.

Always a great place for catch up with friends. Staff friendly and coffee excellent. Toilets handy and lift for disabled. Sometimes we forget M&S; has a great coffee shop for lunch .

Typical Marks and Spencers Restaurant. Too many staff but not where they are needed replicates my experiences with this company.
