Visited earlier in the week and booked an 8.30pm table a couple of days in advance, on the day we received a call from the restaurant asking if we could move the time to an earlier slot so the chefs can clean the ovens... though thinking it was a strange ask we agreed to the ask.
When we got there we had a decent enough meal, where we were served by the same lady who called us earlier in the day. We ordered a bottle of wine with the meal which arrived corked and was told I would need to open it myself. OK, again strange but we did it without complaint.
Once we finished the meal we moved to the bar area for a couple of drinks (before 9pm), we sat and watched the same waitress start to close all of the blinds in the place and hovering over people's tables for anything she could see was finished with. By the time we got to 9.30 she came over to all the tables being used and asked 'are you finishing up?' we said not yet as we had only got some new drinks.
People obviously felt uncomfortable as other tables did finish up and leave after that, leaving us as the last table. As soon as that was the case the waitress then came back to our table to tell us 'just to let you know that we are the last ones at the bar now'.
So we basically were hounded out of the place by 9.45pm! We finished our drinks and started walking out, guess who followed us with the keys... yes the same super waitress who locked up as soon as we were through the doors. Lovely send off!
What was supposed to be a nice meal out ended up being a pretty unpleasant experience. Shame as people have said good things about this place but if that is how the staff act then I wouldn't waste your cash there. There was obviously a plan to get people out as early as possible so the staff could finish up and go home, starting with the phone call.
Shocking experience all round.
This was a disappointment compared to the old days of the bay restaurant. We were greeted with all the things that weren't available, I ended up having fish and chips as my first choice. It wasn't but wasn't terrible but it was covered in way too much salt which couldn't be avoided very easily. Wish we had gone out to eat but as we were staying in the hotel we chose to stay in.
Me and my 8 year old stopped for a quick coffee today.
My 8 year old pointed out - the Cafe is actually called Man-get-out (an adult brain doesn't think like that!)
Absolutely no complaints with the service or coffee. Highly recommended x 👌
Fantastic 5 star experience today at the Cross Keys for birthday lunchtime with some friends.
The wine (Appassimento, Puglia 2023) was just superb. The food was a joy. We asked if some of the menu items could be offered as an array of meze to share, and it was all done tastefully and beautifully.
Service was attentive and just right. The restaurant space and ambience are comfortable and attractive - decor, design and lighting all lovely.
All round, a great, long ,leisurely lunchtime which was joyous. Most definitely recommend.

Rude server - should not be serving if you can’t even have the common decency to be polite. I would highly recommend the business to put the ginger lady serving out the back doing a non customer facing task like battering fish or managing the fryers.
Second visit after such nice meals the first time, I chose the carbonara as I had this on the first visit and really enjoyed . This time it was completely tasteless. My wife and daughters meals were very salty and my granddaughter’s spaghetti bolognaise was nothing like a bolognaise with hard carrots and crunchy celery!
My granddaughter has a severe food allergy and we are always worried about eating out but as we had eaten here before, and she hadn’t been poorly we were happy that she would be safe.
There was nothing suitable for her in the starters section so she chose to have a dessert instead as part of the set meal.
Half way through she alerted me to the fact that she had a small piece of plastic in her sorbet. I was a little bit horrified but didn’t say anything and thought,,, these things can happen. After a couple more spoonfuls and a larger piece of plastic I told the waiter and he took it off me and apologised saying it must have been from the sorbet container. No gesture of goodwill offered, not that we would necessarily have accepted but not good service and certainly WONT be going back!

If you're craving authentic Thai food that brings both the heat and the flavor, Charm Thai Restaurant is an absolute gem you need to check out.
I kicked things off with the chicken dumplings, and oh man—they were little flavor bombs. Perfectly steamed, juicy, and seasoned just right. I fully intended to snap a pic, but they were so good I devoured them without thinking. Zero regrets.
Then came the star of the show: Khaw Kling, a Southern Thai dish that comes with some serious heat. And not the “mildly spicy” kind—they serve it Thai spicy, just the way I like it. Every bite was bursting with bold flavor, spice, and a deep, earthy richness that hit all the right notes. Absolutely addictive.
To cool things off, I ordered a Thai milk tea, which came topped with a generous swirl of whipped cream—yes, you read that right. The combo of the rich, creamy tea and fluffy whipped topping was like a dessert and drink in one. It was the perfect sweet, cooling contrast to the fiery main dish.
Between the food, the cozy vibes, and the super friendly staff, I left full, happy, and already planning my next visit. Charm Thai, you’ve won my heart—and next time, I might take a photo before diving in. But no promises.
First time here today. Sadly forgot to take pics as we meet friends and were chatting. 2 had breakfasts, 1 had scrambled eggs on toast and 1 had mushrooms on toast. Big portions, lovely food and reasonably priced for the quality & quantity. Every table was taken and a couple groups came in and left (due to no tables)....always a good sign of decent food. Will definitely go another time and take pics !
So I've been compelled to update my review of this quaint little pub. We have been coming here multiple times a year for the last 6 years. It is always the highlight of our trip and the food is the gold standard of great pub food.
Our latest trip here was nothing short of that. With the french food magician (Dom) injured and out of action, the food was still to his high standard (so a huge congratulations to the kitchen staff).
Even though they were understaffed they made us feel welcome and any problems were quickly resolved, with apologies and an amazing sense of humour. Thanks Adam for being a great barman! Of course we will be back in a few months for a next trip down here.

What a hotspot for views across the harbour. Upper floor and ground floor looks over picture perfect (even if the weather isn’t sunny)😎 This place like many other places in Mousehole are special. Love the community feel and the variety of great food and service is friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble, even when we’ve seen them swept off their feet in the peak of seasons. Always a chat and a hello awaits each visit. After our full on busy work, it’s the highlight of unwind and relax. Thank you team!
We stayed at the rooms and enjoyed the 8 course tasting menu. The food was prepared with great skill and attention to detail. Everything was very tasty and the wine matches were interesting. The staff and chef were very knowledgeable and passionate about the food and service. No liquid nitrogen or gimmicks just well cooked and presented food.
