Wild Garlic in Stroud

We stayed at the rooms and enjoyed the 8 course tasting menu. The food was prepared with great skill and attention to detail. Everything was very tasty and the wine matches were interesting. The staff and chef were very knowledgeable and passionate about the food and service. No liquid nitrogen or gimmicks just well cooked and presented food.

This is one of the nicest places I have stayed in a long time. We stayed in the Loft room and I will think jealously of the bathroom for a while yet! The bed was comfy, it was really warm and cosy with thoughtful touches and the location was great - in the town centre but still quiet at night. It felt like great value for money and I would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Very comfortable clean room, central location in town. Easy parking nearby. A perfect choice for our first visit to Nailsworth. We also treated ourselves to a wonderful foodie experience at Wilder which was the highlight of our visit. The perfect combination for our Autumn break.

Although we were only staying one night, we could easily and happily have stayed for longer in Wild Garlic. Rooms were spacious, comfortable, and perfect bath and separate shower. Somewhat de-personalised experience, but we would go back.

Absolutely lovely stay with a superb male at wilder .perfect spot for a lovely weekend away. If you love your top quality food stay hear and go there. Really was a top place to stay and the pub opposite the rooms (Britannia) was great with an open fire and plant of Gin 😊

Brilliant evening, made to feel special from the time you walk in till the time you leave. The team are welcoming and very knowledgeable, the food was amazing and the wine was matched perfectly. The whole experience was so special and I must say I have eaten in a few Michelin star restaurants and this was better. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others.

Just enjoyed an absolutely amazing valentines meal from Wild Garlic; tomato tartlet, vegan pasta, melt in the mouth beef bourguignon and dauphinois potatoes and a beautiful passion fruit cheesecake and sorbet to finish! Cooked at home so required a little more effort, but absolutely knock-out. Looking forward to being able to return after lockdown!

We visited Wild Garlic for my husband’s birthday with friends. Wonderful service and beautiful, imaginative food. We are both vegetarian and the choices were creative and unusual, with a wonderful balance of flavours. Would highly recommend along with sister restaurant Wilder which is of Michelin standard. Enjoy!

We come here at least once a year - more often if we can! The standard of food is always high, and the restaurant is COVID compliant. Portions are not large, but they are carefully prepared and lovely to eat.

We stayed in The Nest which was ideal for us and our two children. It had everything we needed (except an electric point in the bathroom). The walls could do with a bit of a paint - it was a bit grubby in some areas. The quality of the breakfast provided in the room was great. Beautiful home made blueberry muffins, home made granola, box of cereal and yoghurt/juice. However, by the third morning, the same breakfast wore thin and actually a variety of cereals would have been great - possibly a range of danishes or even a toaster in the room. Whilst the hotel are doing what they can in the circumstances, a little more thought for the guests staying several nights would have been better. Unfortunately as we booked at the start of the year before COVID, we didn’t realise all the restrictions were in place at the hotel which meant we didn’t get to eat there at all. Please be aware of this if you stay at the start of the week! However there are plenty of lovely places to eat in Nailsworth. The only other thing we found was that you could really hear between rooms - we could hear our ‘neighbours’ TV - and they could no doubt hear us too.

Some of the best food we’ve had this year. Seasonal menu. Couldn’t help but have all 3 courses here. Perfectly cooked duck leg for the main course, literally melted away from the bone. Hidden gem that we wished was on our doorstep rather than in Nailsworth as we’d go there every weekend!

Due to the Covid virus there is no trip to France this year, and today following a drive through Nailsworth last weekend we decided to enjoy the day taking a closer look. Meandering around in and out of the wonderful choice of little shops popped into the indoor flower shop called Junglist where we parted with good money such was the help on hand from the charming lady owner, a wonderful experience. My wife and I commented on the vicinity saying how it really did remind us of a France, then as it was around 12 ish noticed several places to eat close by, and following closer inspection reviewing the menu a very friendly young lady employee said if we wanted to eat indoors we might have to wait for a table offering us the option to sit outside and so we did. We ordered starters with a bowl of fries for a light lunch, in a word fabulous. I had the best fish soup ever, the fries were better than most anywhere by some degree and all washed down with a glass of French wine, we joked who needs France ! The best thing was the surprise at finding or should I say discovering Wild Garlic the name of the restaurant and the truly wonderful food, way above average that I guess you tend to expect. On reading up on the restaurant back home, the chefs CV clearly says it all, thank you for making our day.

Lovely food, fresh and tasty. Good value lunch and fantastic service with a smile. Will definitely book again.

We had dinner at Wild Garlic and it was excellent. The menu selection was nice and the dishes were very tasty. The service was also excellent.

Visited today for an early dinner for my birthday. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. Starter was arancini, main was cod with chick peas and chorizo and a rich and creamy blue cheese to finish. An amazing glass of Pinot Noir provided the perfect accompaniment to all of this. Service was attentive but not overbearing, knowledgable about the dishes and on hand for recommendations as needed. We sat outside in the sunshine in a beautiful location.

Mi esposa y yo disfrutamos de una cena tardía de aniversario de bodas en el Wild Garlic esta noche, habiendo escuchado nada más que informes positivos al respecto. ¡Todo lo que habíamos escuchado era verdad! ! La comida era fabulosa, tuve el confit de pierna de pato mientras mi esposa pidió el lomo de bacalao con chorizo y cassoulet, ambos estaban realmente sabrosos. Faye, como Maitre D ', no podría haber sido un mejor frente de la casa, tanto atento como con tiempo suficiente para dejarnos decidir qué pedir. En general, fue una noche maravillosamente relajada, y es genial descubrir una nueva joya en la puerta de nuestra casa. Volveremos pronto!

Vimos este lugar cuando visitamos Nailsworth el año pasado y se veía bien y tenía buenas críticas, así que decidimos quedarnos esta vez y comer en el Bistro. El Bistro tenía un menú limitado pero buena comida y entrantes y postres especialmente sabrosos. ser y ser realmente decepcionante. El desayuno del día siguiente ya estaba en la habitación cuando llegamos por la tarde y consistía en paquetes de cereales, una manzana y un muffin de arándanos cada uno más un poco de yogur. En consecuencia, solo comí cereales, ya que los muffins eran arándanos, lo que no me gusta especialmente, habiendo estado allí desde el día anterior.Mientras nos sentamos a comer lo que pudimos, nos dimos cuenta de que la silla estaba muy pegajosa y parecía no haber sido limpiada entre misiones. . Tener dispensadores de jabón en el baño tampoco es muy sensato. En general, decepcionante y con una mala relación calidad-precio.

Compartimos una velada muy feliz con amigos celebrando un aniversario 'importante', y todos fueron unánimes al decir que disfrutaron de una excelente cocina y servicio. Mi entrante a base de guisantes era imaginativo y sabroso, el corvejón de jamón delicioso. Los siguientes fueron platos principales de cassoulet de solla y pollo Brixham, que estaban muy, muy buenos, seguidos de buenos postres de queso y chocolate. Un plato de felicitación de aniversario, coronó una velada muy agradable, que se sintió muy relajada bajo las actuales limitaciones de higiene. ¡Recomendamos encarecidamente Wild Garlic!

Another excellent meal on Saturday night only criticism I have is that we have a Gourmet Food card which we have used here before however we were unable to use this as Part payment of our bill was a gift voucher (which in reality is the same as cash) I could understand if the voucher was some sort of download incentive that you sometimes get from restaurants but not a voucher which was in exchange for exactly the same value of cash however as I say great food lovely night just a tad disappointed..

Can't understand why this gem of a restaurant is often so quiet. The food is delicious, the service is consistently good. A real foodie find in a Gloucestershire village. Excellent value for money.

Wow, fabulous food and service. We have multiple food allergies in our family and not only did they manage to cater for us, they created dishes that were so delicious. The service was fantastic too. I couldn’t rate this highly enough. Thank you

have been here a few times since moving to stonehouse its a lovely friendly restaurant serving excellent food we had the crab starter and pork belly starter followed by the rump steak for both of us cooked to perfection lovely tripple cooked chips served on very hot plates great for us the 2 ladies serving happy and friendly

We had the steaks and tartiflette; both cooked to perfection. To finish off we had the brulee. Brilliant evening and excellent service! But we could of done with more chips ;-)

Pasamos un par de noches aquí, y disfrutamos cada minuto de nuestra estancia. Esta vez nos quedamos en "Ortiga", ¡lo cual es mucho más cómodo de lo que parece! La habitación da a la Plaza Cossack, y hay un cómodo estacionamiento gratuito justo más allá del Britannia Inn. Las habitaciones no serían adecuadas para personas con problemas de movilidad. Nuestros dos desayunos y una cena fueron excelentes experiencias gastronómicas. La fruta no se proporciona automáticamente en el desayuno, pero está disponible a pedido. Esto es para evitar que se desperdicien alimentos frescos. Siempre es un placer estar aquí.

Como grandes amantes de Wilder, hermana de WG, somos grandes fanáticos de Wild Garlic. La comida es deliciosa y nuestras visitas siempre son maravillosas. Los precios, en mi humilde opinión, son ligeramente altos para el tamaño de las porciones, pero eso es realmente lo único negativo posible. Nailsworth está bendecido con excelentes opciones gastronómicas y WG no decepciona.

Went as a couple for my wife's birthday lunch and was treated extremely well. The food was superb plus free pudding and aperitif as a surprise from the staff. Thanks so much. Well done

Having lived locally for too many years to admit, embarrassed to say this was first visit. Had been given TasteCard which gives discount (must call in advance) so value for money was exceptional. Thought starters were pleasant enough but mains, especially moules and pork belly were top notch.No room for deserts but will return soon.

We booked The Loft Suite last minute for a night away. It was so lovely. The staff who worked at the restaurant couldn't have been more helpful or kind if they'd tried. The room was beautiful, really tastefully made out. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom was so luxurious. We went for a meal at the restaurant and it was delicious. We tasted some great local gin and my husband had the special on that evening. Overall, we were super impressed by the beautiful town, the kind and helpful staff and the quality of the room and meal. Would definitely recommend this place.

Visité Wild Garlic basado en una recomendación personal y nos quedamos absolutamente impresionados. Probamos carne y platos veganos y todos fueron excelentes. El bistec fue el mejor que he probado en mucho tiempo: maravillosamente tierno, fresco e increíblemente sabroso, mientras que a mi esposa también le encantaron sus espaguetis veganos. Compartimos un budín vegano de caramelo pegajoso que también era fragante y un final apropiado para la comida. En conjunto con el servicio amable, tuvimos una velada encantadora. We wanted to go as one of our party is vegan and there was a great vegan menu. The whole meal was really great. Excellent friendly service, nice environment. We also had a Cossack Cup cocktail- really tasty. Meal was excellent, well cooked, delicious, well presented. All had different dishes and were happy. Tasty vegan food.

Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere combined with excellent food makes this venue a great place to visit.

Absolutely divine, reasonably priced food. Far superior than other local restaurants of a similar price bracket. My partner and I have eaten here twice now and had exceptional food both times with nice wine and lovely service. My one criticism would be that the pudding wasn’t of the same standard but I’ve only tried one. Will definitely be eating here again.

Had a touch of class about this establishment..... Warm welcome from engaging, yet discrete, staff... the menu offers something for every palette..... if you’re looking for something a little different, I would recommend this place without reservation..... although a reservation will ensure you’ll not be disappointed

This was my first visit to Wild Garlic, I took my partner there for dinner on a Wednesday night. There was a warm welcome, everything was efficient, the restaurant surroundings are a lovely mix of the traditional Cotswold stone building with clean modern interior finishes. Service was prompt and friendly. The menu is somewhat limited in choice but hey this is a small restaurant in a small Cotswold town! Our food was of very high quality - the salt and pepper squid was beautifully cooked so it was soft (so often it has a tough or rubbery consistency). My partner started with the broad bean and marscapone tart which he said was excellent but served cold, and he mentioned to the waitress that the flavours could be even better if served at room temp or even gently warmed - she welcomed this suggestion and said she would share it with the chef. Mains and desserts we all good. Lovely wine and reasonably priced. All in all a nice relaxed unfussy evening out - we will definitely return and take friends.

We popped in here for a quick lunch. Quite surprised by the bullish prices.

My partner and I booked this restaurant after reading the reviews while staying in nearby Minchinhampton for a birthday break. My partner had the pork belly for her main which she said was very tasty but the top was not crispy (crackling). We didn't say anything because everything else was very good. My main was the crab linguine which was nice but could have been a little more fiery - not enough chilli. Very tasty though. The puddings were really excellent however. My partner's pud had a mint ice-cream which was way above expectations in that it tasted of garden mint, not peppermint. I tried it too and it was absolutely phenomenal - neither of us had ever tasted an ice-cream like it before. I had the strawberry Eton mess which was also excellent and had the most incredible cider sorbet with it. So in essence, nice mains, awesome desserts :-)

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Welcoming, yet discreet, staff.... appetising menu. Highly recommend this restaurant..... if there was a downside it has to be the difficulty in finding somewhere to park.... However, everything about Wild Garlic more than outweighs....!!

We decided we needed a day just to ourselves,and whilst in that selfish mood drove to nailsworth,to just wander around and have lunch.

I visited the Wild Garlic with a group of friends and it was fantastic! The setting of Nailsworth itself is lovely, food was lovely and service could not be faulted. Definitely worth a visit and I would definitely recommend for all occasions and company!

The menu advertised on the website menu was not the same as the menu in the restaurant. My partner and I decided on the lamb and drove the 19 miles there to be confronted with the only meat dish there which was pork belly! it was ok but not what I wanted.. anyway my partner had the Aubergine Thai curry which was served with nasty overcooked rice noodles. When mentioning this we were told it was traditional! No it's not! (I'm Thai) Dissapointed as it seemed very as promising. The 19 miles back was quiet!

I had been recommended this restaurant by friends and I was not disappointed, it is in a beautiful setting. We arrived at 6pm and were greeted by friendly staff and sat outside on the terrace having drinks whilst we waited for the rest of out party. Once we were all sat down to eat, the service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble and the food scrumptious. Everything was cooked perfectly (and I am fussy with my food). As it was a celebration I booked one of their suites, the room was enormous and fitted a super king sized bed along with 2 high backed chairs and the usual bedroom furniture and I think a 55” flat screen TV, as I said the room was enormous. The bathroom also did not disappoint, a bath that would easily fit 2 of you, the shower was equally as large. As with many places a continental breakfast was included in the price, the choice of cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, tea and coffee along with sourdough toast and hot croissants, all delicious. I decided to upgrade and have the cooked breakfast as I needed some help socking up the night before, absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back.

Advertised as luxury suite. It was an adult room with (American double bed). Wooden frame for a “closet”, no drawers, and a bunk bed for children’s room. No laying out space in bathroom. Floors squeak when walked upon. Must walk up 3 flights of fire escape stairs outside in the rain and pitch black at night to get to room. If warm, must open windows and then street noise and noisy patrons from bar directly across the street make sleep impossible. No curtain on adult room so extremely bright as early as 4pm. Advertised as bed and breakfast, but only provide a cold breakfast of cereals and berries. Must pay extra for hot breakfast. This is NOT the Continent, and breakfast in England means Hot breakfast.

We had an excellent meal here on a Friday night. The staff were welcoming and very accomodating when we let them know we'd be slightly late. The food was exceptional and the menu was innovative. This is not a cheap restaurant, but it's fantastic and worth every penny. Would highly recommend for a special occasion, or a romantic meal out!

Very nice place to eat, can't fault the food quality (but serving sizes too small), can't fault the service. But drinks prices were way way OTT. So warning: check the drinks menu. We simply ordered two large glasses of house red, the waitress recommended a particular one, we said OK. That was £16 per glass we found out when the bill came. I should have looked at the printed menu first! I did complain, and they did halve it. Beer over £6 per pint.

A lovely choice of food and it was very well presented. Clean and friendly restaurant . The service was second to none, Sophie was fantastic! We also stayed in the loft room. Fantastic room, very clean. Enjoyed very much, will definitely return.

Friday evening meal for 3. We all had different meals and all very much enjoyed the food on offer. Contrasting this with London, the venue would be packed. Notwithstanding service and quality of meals all excellent.

Not the cheapest of restaurants but well worth it for a special occasion, or just to spoil yourself and enjoy some very good food, cooked realy well. Service can be a little poor,b ut put that down to the very young serving staff?

Tenía ganas de comer en Wild Garlic ya que había escuchado comentarios positivos. El personal era muy agradable y el restaurante es cómodo, aunque la música es demasiado alta ya que teníamos un orador directamente encima de nuestra mesa (pero el personal lo rechazó de inmediato). Dos de los principales eran muy buenos, pero toda mi solla de Brixham estaba por debajo del estándar; Pieza minúscula de pescado con pulpa blanda. Hice saber al personal que no lo había disfrutado y me ofrecieron rápidamente un pudín para disculparme. ¡Pensé que eso fue manejado muy profesionalmente hasta que miré la factura unos días después solo para descubrir que nos habían cobrado por el pudín de cortesía!

Lots of lovely touches. Absolutely delicious bread. Mains came with enough potatoes and vegetables, making side dishes unnecessary unless you have a really big appetite. We had a lovely roast cod dish and delicious pork tenderloin. Puddings were another highlight. Altogether the best meal we have had in a long time.

Had a late booking for Sunday lunch here. Was only one other person in the restaurant, but it was a very quiet and cold January day. Good roast, with loads of different vegetables. Husband had the full English, which he enjoyed. Very pleasant

We booked the Loft Suite and were disappointed to find that there was no mini bar or biscuits in the room. Lovely photos on the Wild Garlic website showed these. The photos are being review following our feedback, so that's good. The bathroom although apparently luxurious didn't live up to expectations. The overhead shower didn't work properly and the hot water feed to the bath was so slow the water was cooling down before the bath could be filled. The bathroom flooring had gaps showing the "foil" to the underfloor heating. There was no soap dish in the shower so had to put soap, shampoo etc on the shower tray. There was nowhere to put a bar of soap when in the bath. The rooms however were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Continental breakfast offering was ok a bit minimal. Really tasty cooked breakfast though.

We had a tasting menu here. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented. Great local fresh food and excellent service too.

Booked here for Sunday lunch and was very disappointed. Their website states 'Sunday lunch? We offer a traditional Sunday lunch with dripping roasted potatoes and all the trimmings alongside our seasonal bistro menu' The reality was a pan fried chicken breast with creamed leeks, raw broccoli, boiled carrots and a side dish of croutons which they said was stuffing!!?? My wife had the rib eye which was good, but the starters were again poor - the best bit was the Affogato dessert - ice cream with shot of espresso

We visited wild garlic as a family for brunch on New Year’s Day. The food was delicious (buttermilk pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, and scrambled eggs and salmon on sourdough. It was a busy service with a good atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive. Clearly a venue which appeals to many as there were families, couples and friends all dining at the same time as us. Highly recommended !

This is a lovely restaurant. We were a group of 8, having the festive menu. The food was lovely, really flavoursome. I had beetroot salad, risotto, bread & butter pudding. 1 thing I would raise for info only is portion sizes, they are small, this is fine dining. I would also flag that we did have a bit of a portion mismatch across the table, my main course, risotto was fine, as was the cod, but friends who had duck, was more a starter size & could have done with some additional veg. All agreed food was delicious. Worth a visit.

This is a great spot for some funky cocktails and great food. Been a number of tones and never been disappointed.

Un especial de último minuto para la hermosa ciudad de Nailsworth en Cotswolds. Teníamos la habitación Loft en la pintoresca plaza del pueblo. La cama era enorme y esponjosa y blanca como la nieve, sábanas crujientes de algodón. Impecablemente limpio y decorado con estilo sin ser demasiado ostentoso.

Estar en los tejados de piedra de Cotswolds, ya poca distancia a pie de todas partes en Nailsworth, es una escapada perfecta para cuando mis padres se quedan, entradas privadas.

He estado en Wild Garlic antes y decidí llevar amigos a visitar el condado. Lamentablemente la comida resultó ser un poco de un squib húmedo. Con un precio excesivo para la comida mediocre y para insultar a la herida, el pollo estaba tibio cuando se lo servía y, a petición, se calentaba, posiblemente en un horno de microondas que resultó ser tan duro como las botas viejas. El personal, a pesar de ser agradable, no se mostró satisfecho y lamentablemente no respondió, lo que nos dejó a todos con un mal sabor de boca común. Es una vergüenza como lugar encantador, pero no iré allí de nuevo.

The service and food at the Wild Garlic is always excellent. I have been several times and the above, combined with the variety on the menu always makes me excited to come back again!

Took a chance based on trip advisor reviews; had the crab starter which was delicious and fresh and then fish for a main. The dish was beautifully cooked and well presented. The chef altered my mum's dish as she wanted something a bit simpler. Service was excellent. Really enjoyed the food and the menu is varied. Sadly we had no room left for dessert. It is a nice place - a bit minimalist in style for me, but I would recommend.

A fairly limited food menu, that could benefit from a couple of main course specials, maybe a game dish, considering the location, but what they do offer is very good. The waiting staff were all helpful and knowledgeable; they knew how the food was prepared and when listed wines were not available, they were able to offer well suited, good quality alternatives.

We had an evening meal at Wild Garlic while away in Nailsworth for a couple of days - it was definitely a food highlight for us. Great service, fantastic food and the perfect atmosphere. We plan to come back!

Een leuk restaurant in een klein stadje, waar verder weinig te beleven valt. Voortreffelijk gegeten hier: eend met gecaramelliseerde uienringen en garlic croquettes. Als nagerecht Eton Mess met verse aardbeien.

Stayed for one night in the lovely loft suite. Spacious room and very comfortable. Are at Wilder restaurant and really enjoyed the tasting menu and matching wine flight. Excellent service. Free parking too. Lots of steep steps up to the loft suite, which didn’t bother us but something to note.

Gorgeous food. Beautiful fish and fabulous roast chicken - possibly best gravy ever! Great staff and service.

I’ve lost count of the reviews I’ve written about Wild Garlic. We ate here twice, two days running on a recent visit to Nailsworth and again it lived up to expectations.

We came for dinner Saturday, 19th May and it was truly lovely. I can’t remember what the rest of the family had (mainly because they didn’t want to share!) but I had the Goats Cheese with celeriac and apple to start, followed by the duck with salad leaves and plum, and for dessert the citrus possit with dark chocolate. Each course was beautifully put together and the flavours were all very complementary and tasty. I savoured every mouthful. Absolutely delicious.

Went on recommendation of my son, who we were visiting in Bussage. The menu, surroundings, staff/service and of course the food, were all superb.

I came here with a friend who was visiting from Liverpool. It’s been a while since I ate here (about 9 years) so I had no idea what to expect. Both of us were very impressed by the comfortable and stylish environment. The service was attentive and polite and the food was some of the best I’ve eaten in Nailsworth for some time. Thank you for the perfect Father’s day lunch. The food was exceptional. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Our first visit but will definitely be returning.

My sister and I went to stay at the Wild Garlic for a few nights recently. We were pleasantly surprised with the spacious room and the beautifully decorated bathroom.

Walking into this restaurant is akin to walking into a posh cafeteria. Everything was beige or mustard with lights too bright for the evening. We almost felt awkward because it was so quiet save for some non-descript music in the backround.

Thoroughly recommend this bistro. Very nice and varied menu, reasonably priced for the quality of food. Nice relaxed, attentive service. Good choice of reasonably priced wines etc. Food was really nicely presented and very flavoursome.

What can I say except perfect ! Rooms are beautifully and thoughtfully decorated offering a great nights sleep and an escape from everyday life. The breakfast has plenty of choice and I would travel down from the north west again just for the homemade rhubarb jam ! The food in the restaurant is gorgeous and every bit deserving it’s 2 rosettes with the best gluten free bread I’ve ever eaten.

Attentive service in a clean and inviting restaurant - well cooked and presented food with a good selection of wines (many can be bought by the glass - a real plus) my wife and I booked via Trip Advisor choosing an earlier time of 6.15pm. Very happy to recommend as a worthwhile place to eat.

My husband and I have eaten here on a couple of occasions at lunchtime. First visit great so we wanted to return as it’s great to find a local restaurant to enjoy a relaxing lunch or dinner. However, on subsequent visit not so good, it’s as though it was a different place from the service to the food. We were disappointed and felt let down, as not too many good places to enjoy around the Stroud district.

Absolutely fantastic food in a lovely setting. The service was pleasant and the young girls serving us were polite and friendly, but it could have been a little sharper. We sat and waited a fair while before getting a drinks menu and then having our order taken. The food was really tasty, but I hadn't had much breakfast so was really hungry (the sizes are on par with tasting menu portions). That and the tastiness of the food meant that I could have eaten more (the Leek and Potato soup was particularly good). I would definitely like to return to try other dishes on a special occasion.

A very nice up market venue. The staff were excellent and very attentive. A good varied choice on the menu which was cooked to perfection. A favourite spot of ours which we will always return to. Richard & Kay

My husband and I were given a voucher to dine at the Wild Garlic Bistro for a two course lunch for two. Visited today 31st March. Absolutely superb food, attentive and efficient staff as well as lovely surroundings. Excellent wine. Really worth a visit, will certainly be going back, would love to try the evening menu. Must say everything 10 out of 10. Thank you Wild Garlic we had a super day.

Visited for lunch on a Travel Zoo deal, following a pamper package nearby. So glad we did!

Booked with a Travelzoo voucher, we have been here quite a few time and we’re looking forward to this visit as the food has been really good in the past. Starters were ok if a little small. One had mussels for a main and three the steak which we paid an extra £5 each for. The mussels were good and the steaks looked great until we felt the plates, the waitress had been holding them with a cloth so we assumed them to be hot, they were all cold. As a result the steaks, although nicely seared on top, were cold underneath and the mushrooms were luke warm. I can only think that everything was put on cold plates whilst waiting for the chips to cook as they were very hot.

We came here for dinner while staying at a nearby hotel.

Visited on a Friday lunchtime,as a couple with my mother. Really glad we booked ahead via a Travelzoo voucher for the couple as restaurant was full. My wife had goats cheese and then a excellent steak, I had smoked duck breast and then a wonderful Pheasant cassoulet. My mother had a chicken salad which see loved. All washed down with a bottle of wine and coffee.

Picked up an offer for lunch here from TravelZoo. Fabulous food from a great and interesting menu. Even though TravelZoo got us lunch at a reduced price - would happily go back and pay full amount. Fab food, great staff, relaxed atmosphere. We will be back!

Well, 42 years deserves one, surely! So visited last night, Feb 28th, despite the Beast from the East trying to make us decide otherwise. We managed to get down the hill fairly easily, battling into the freezing wind and snow, and were given a very warm welcome despite our bundled up and rather peculiar appearance. I’m afraid I also wore my mother’s (inherited) fur coat ...

We had a lovely meal here at the weekend. Everything is carefully prepared and presented. The portions are not usually large, but every ingredient is put together to make an attractive meal. Our steaks were both done to perfection. About £90 for two courses with wine - not cheap, but worth the cost.

Out of all of the local restaurants in the Stroud District, the Wild Garlic is my favourite.

Lovely food. Limited kids menu, but what's on there is very nice. Good choice of drinks. Well worth a visit.

Our mistake- we just wanted a snack lunch and thought a bistro would offer that- so we just settled for a coffee.

I have been here twice in the last two years and won't be returning. My first experience wasn't good when having ordered a Turbot and Oyster dish the waiter had to come out twice, firstly to say there were no Oysters so they were using prawns instead, then a second time to say there was no Turbot so it was being replaced with Cod, and I was still charged the same price. I hoped my second visit would be better but unfortunately this restuarant harks back to the bad old days of Nouvelle cuisine with tiny starters and food served at overly inflated prices. It's also not just the food that's pricey, a local beer at £6 a pint is just ridiculous. The food itself is average, my artisan pasta with brisket, although tasty, was swimming in a soup like sauce. I am an experienced diner and perhaps I'm missing something but its a no from me.
