The Edge in Stroud

I came here for lunch on Saturday with a friend. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We both had the full English breakfast which was lovely, just what was needed before a wander around the shops. It wasn't my first visit here and certainly won't be my last. My only regret was that I didn't have room for one of their delicious looking cakes!

Unfortunately they didn't have the option to make milkshakes, but the mocha was very good. Lots of traffic and quite noisy when there are people.

We stopped for lunch here and very nice it was. Staff are lovely and very efficient. Food was very good, fresh, good size, and tasty. The cakes looked fabulous but we were to full to try them this time.

Great cafe in the centre of Wootton. Friendly and welcoming service with great food (cakes are devine and made on the premises). Highly recommended.

We've visited before but ate lunch here for the first time. Eggs Benedict was weird, with flattened muffins. Not nice, but we were in a hurry with no time to send it back. On going to the loo after eating I saw the kitchen door open so spoke to the chef/owner and asked what has happened. "It was a mistake" he said, the muffins had been put in the panini squisher. I asked why he had allowed it out the kitchen if he knew it was a mistake and he said "all I can do is apologise". Actually, Sir, you could have refunded me. The staff later agreed that the food looked bad but said that they'd need to speak to the boss in order to authorise a refund. I said I preferred to write this review than deal with that man again. The staff seemed rather cowed by their boss. It's a shame. This place makes good coffee but that attitude is unacceptable. If you know the food is not up to your standard then don't send it.

Nice family business with good quality coffee and cake

Love visiting The Edge in Wotton. Great relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Attentive service and excellent food. Cakes are very nice esp biscoff slice (so my son says!). Parking can be difficult on high street , use The Chippings carpark.

I organised an afternoon tea for my mother's 60th birthday which was amazing. Did the team deliver YES! They went over and beyond, and for the price, 100% worth it. Great food, awesome service and lovely staff. Thank you for making my mother's birthday special and memorable!

We had an excellent afternoon tea for 4 that was very good value for money. Plenty of both savoury and sweet items, all of which could not be faulted. Attentive and friendly staff to boot.

Visited fri 21st June Had smoked salmon potato hash was out of this world. So tasty, it was on the specials board. Please please put this on the regular menu.

What a lovely place! Excellent and friendly service from the off and all staff were friendly and smiling. Had the soup for lunch and my friend had the ploughman’s. Both meals presented beautifully and tasted absolutely Devine. The hot drinks were hot and coffee was spot on. A relaxing atmosphere even with a 10 month old baby. Would highly recommend !

Popped in for a quick breakfast whilst our dog was having a haircut. Service food and coffee were all brilliant. Atmosphere was buzzy staff were smiley and happy, all in all a great experience.

Having had a great coffee with excellent cake we went back to The Edge for lunch. This was a mistake. They had no sourdough for the items we would have chosen but said there was granary bread for toasties. When these arrived they were made of huge doorsteps of very poor white bread, only toasted on the outside and the filling was minimal and cold. Very disappointing, much was left on the plate. 5 stars for coffee & cake. 2 for the lunch.

Service was unfriendly, on arrival we were abruptedtold to sit at table and they would take our order. No menus provided, had to go and get some. When meal arrived the order was wrong ( white bread instead of granary) and the Shakshuka was cold so had to be sent back. This resulted in us not eating at the same time.The latte eventually arrived after someone went out to get more milk, but was not hot either. We politely told staff that we had had a few issues with our meal but they were very offhand and did not offer any apologies. We were very disappointed We will not be going back and advise avoidance

It was very busy when I went in, but the staff were on top of everything and the food was executed to a very high standard. I will definitely return soon!

Nice family run café with friendly helpful staff. About the only place open today (13/05/2024) in Wotton where you could sit and eat. Our breakfasts were quite acceptable if alittle unimaginative but we didn't have to wait very long for our orders to arrive. The menu offered a good choice of lunchtime meals and the café's licensed. Everywhere was nice and clean.

Had coffee in the garden, bliss! What a little Oasis, love visiting Wotton, no rush, calm and civilised. My kind of place!

Only cafe open during my visit to Wootton, ordered a full English breakfast with coffee, I was only customer then within 15 minutes place is full. Didn’t have to wait too long with meal arrived, all food was hot and freshly cooked, all good quality especially bacon and sausage. Very enjoyable, filled me up for the day.

Lovely place, airy, tidy, clean, great atmosphere and cakes are amazing. Food menu is really nice too.

We booked a table for lunch at one of our favourite cafes on Saturday 28th l October. When we arrived we were told the kitchen was not taking food orders for another 30 minutes. So we decided to wander around for a while; then saw a lot of food being loaded into a van from the cafe - that's why they couldn't feed us. We returned after 30 mins and waited 10 minutes before we could grab someone to take an order. We almost left. The food did come quite quickly, but it was badly done. A salad on one plate consisted of broken wilted leaves we sent back. An eggs royale came with no garnish whatsoever. A tuna sandwich garnish was inedible. There is no need to be this bad. We probably won't go back.

Have the best cakes & pumpkin spice latte

Lovely litte café, great staff, the food looked wonderful! We were really hungry, so wanted a proper hot meal, not just a sandwich. So we ordered the most expensive item in the menu, £10.95, "slow roasted pulled pork with apple sauce and chips"... sadly, it was really disappointing. I had imagined a pile of delicious meat... but it was not pulled pork, just reheated sliced pork in sliced bread like a sandwich, a tiny side salad, chips were good, though. It's a shame, because I looked at the food everyone else had, and that looked amazing. Wish I'd had shackshuka or ham egg and chips.

Had lunch here after a big run and they managed to fit us in on a busy Saturday. All the staff were very sweet and took lots of care to make sure my friend who is gluten free had a good choice of food.

Coffee is class, super friendly staff and the cakes are beyond gorgeous!! Highly recommend.

Very pricey and we did find a couple of small hairs in the cakes which wasn't very appertising but was nice to relax and chat with friends

REVIEW FROM CHRIS R BELOW IS A LIE! I just wanted to pop on here as a customer who witnessed the man below be very abusive and rude towards the staff working at the edge coffee shop when he entered. What he didn’t realise is the people sat on the table who so say were “staff” witnessed this problem were actually customers. Me being one of them. Both girls remained very professional and calm and explained the kitchen was closed as it was 2:30 not 2:25 as you are stating. Your wife wouldn’t accept this and spoke very rudely to the staff behind the counters . Both yours and your wife’s attitudes were very aggressive, you weren’t happy with the answer and therefore chose not to listen to the staff but in fact mutter irrational comments at them. The staff did their up most to help you out and offer alternative options, they even asked the kitchen to make an exception for you, however again you chose to be rude and difficult customers. Do you not think the fact a coffee shop full of customers could hear the whole commotion was due to your grand entrance, aggressive nature and tone of voice, also resulting in the staff members feeling very intimidated. The man’s review below is not acceptable. Chris Rainbow we’ve seen you post on their Facebook page too. You need to stop making up such lies. We’ve seen you do these reviews for a lot of places all over your Facebook page and they are all awful and so damaging. Thank you the edge coffee shop for providing super service as always. The lunch was delicious and the coffee was tasty as always.

Nice little place but 'toasties' need work. We popped in for a coffee and a tea. Coffee was ok, not sure if it was Extract coffee and it wasn't full of flavour but wasn't bad. We ordered a mozzarella toastie and a cheese and ham. They we're out of sourdough so went for brown. Nice doorstep style bread but they were warm sandwiches and not a proper toastie. My wife even took it packed to be done more and it still same back like a sandwich. Seems like the bread is toasted but the cheese and mozzarella were no where near melted. In fact they were luke warm. Shame, left this review so they can maybe improve them.

1st time visiting this place as I was walking along the Cotswold Way. Great selection of Homemade cakes and the coffee was lovely The outside seating area is a real sun trap. I’ll be visiting again to try the breakfast menu when I’m next in the area.

Great range of food and drink available for a tiny cafe, however quite expensive. Table service was a nice addition, and the waiter was friendly. However whilst we were eating our macaroni, who appeared to be the owner asked us to pay for our food and drink which I found quite odd and a bit rude. Nevertheless I enjoyed my lunch, but next time it would be polite to ask us to pay before or after we have finished eating.

Simple, cozy, relaxed, great coffee. The vegan options just aren’t up there with all the cafes in Nailsworth and other towns in the area. It’s a shame really as there are lots of vegans in Wotton.

Popped in for a large latte to take with me whilst out walking along the Cotswold Way. It wasn't until I stopped later to enjoy my drink that I realised my flask was only half full. Admittedly, I should have checked in the cafe (I will in future) but felt the server could have asked if I wanted it topped up (I wouldn't have minded paying a little extra). Disappointing.

What a lovely tea room this is. Very welcoming and friendly staff throughout our stay, very reasonable prices and above average food. All the staff were efficient, friendly and welcoming. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Good choice of drinks and food for breakfast and lunch.

But above all of this, the owners Catherine and Chris and their staff carry the place with their personable and welcoming nature. Such a nice place to sit, think, drink, chat and eat. I've had great conversations with many people there now, feels like a home from home :). Always a pleasure, definitely pop in if you are in the area, or not! It will be worth the trip.

Had a pot of tea and a doughnut twist….all I can say is yum! Not only that but the cookies looked immense so I took one home to try it…it didn’t last long very full of chocolate chunks and delicious

This is a great cafe, I visit frequently with friends. The staff and owners are friendly and helpful, their menu is good and the cakes are amazing.

The atmosphere and staff are excellent at the Edge, they always go out of their way to help ALL customers. Food is excellent... highly recommend this place.

We’re a family of physically disabled and there is little to no disability access to the toilets or gardens. We were disappointed at the obvious lack of respect shown to the physically disadvantaged and left. Such a shame that disability discrimination still exists.

I have been going to the Edge now for about four years, I like it, the food and coffee and friendly staff. BUT, the staff need a good shake up and some training. There are usually about 4-6 youngster's working (Saturday) who spend most of their time chatting to each other behind the counter, missing opportunity's to serve customers. When you arrive you are asked to take a table and then you are completely forgotten. When your order is taken you have to pay up front, which, I was told, is because so many people leave without paying which I am not surprised at as the staff don't know who is doing what. After our coffee arrived and a further 30 minute wait we did enquire as to the progress of our lunch, again looks all round from staff untill they realised they had forgot to place the order. At this time we decided to leave but the staff were unable to process a card refund. It was bit of a disappointment all round. The staff need to be more proactive with "eyes out" to the customer areas at all times so they can better serve customers. The business must be losing money from walk outs, repeat business, and lost opportunity's for orders. With the high staff to customer ratio you would expect some fairly rapid turnover in service. Anyway still like the place so I shall return.

Really impressed with lunch today (Gyros with salad and Rosemary fries and a pot of Earl Grey) at the Edge. Ingredients simple fresh and healthy, tasty. Salad made with some care+flare, flat bread was lovely, had a home made appearance and taste. Not exactly cheap but don't mind when the food is really enjoyable. Garden was relaxing place to eat lunch. Will def go back.

Such a nice cafe in Wotten! I had a very good coffee and brownie before tackling my next leg of the Cotswolds Way. It looked like a lot of the customers I saw were regular visitors. If I am ever back in town will be sure to visit again.

My husband I visited whilst passing whilst on holiday, and so glad we did, the cafe has a lovely atmosphere, the staff seem happy and are very welcoming. We were unsure what the food would be like as we're not from the area, but my first words when it came out was "wow". It tasted incredible and the presentation was fantastic! We would definitely recommend and visit again.
