The Mess Room Coffee Shop in Plymouth

Nice little cafe tucked away, but with easy parking. Has a roof top terrace with good views. Varied menu of breakfast items, sandwiches, panninis, jacket potatoes, waffles and soup of the day. Super friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Well well. I finally visited. Heared about it for a while but never had a chance to go or knew where it was. I do now and don't regret the visit. Strongly recommend visiting even just for a coffee. Oh...if you fancy a Belgium waffles they are very good and similar to the ones sold in Belgium. Thank you. Great effort guys.

Went on recommendation of a friend and was not disappointed. Beautiful tasty breakfast, not a spot of grease on plate. Good service from friendly spots. Toilets spotless. Will definitely be going again. Bonus is plenty of parking spaces.

This cafe is a Hidden gem! Visited MessRoom quite a few times now at different times of the day, for coffee and for a meal and never left disappointed. The food is always fresh, delicious and nicely presented. Staff always greeted me with a smile and looked after every customer. I definitely recommend to visit MessRoom.

Didn’t end up eating here as we sat down took 10mins to decide what we wanted ordered at 2:01pm and were told they stopped breakfast at 2pm . So we went elsewhere for breakfast type food. Nothing on board about 2pm but 2.01 really !!! And open till 3pm on website.

Hello. This is a regular spot for me. It is consistently excellent. Always bursting with flavour and everything I’m looking for in a fry up- no grease and lots of taste. Lovely fluffy bread, succulent sausages. Pretty standard on price looking at £9-12 for a breakfast depending on size. I’ve attached a picture of the biggest one. Also the staff are always super polite and just nice people

Came here for breakfast with my husband. Food was very good not greasy, well presented. Coffee was decent. Friendly staff. There was only one thing I feel could be improved is the extraction fans as when we walked in it smelt like chip fat, when we left our clothes smelt of cooking.

Amazing food as always. Breakfasts are large and not really a coffee person, but always enjoy the cappuccinos. Really friendly and welcoming staff.

Lovely food and lovely staff. Dog friendly is always a bonus. Only negative is no bookings allowed which makes me nervous to choose here when visiting as a larger group.

Lovely breakfast, come here fairly regularly,I really love the big wedges of toast and the breakfasts are great. I wish the coffee was a little better and there was wholegrain mustard available

Mess room is ran by the best team. Beautiful food by beautiful people. If your coming by car DONT park like an idiot. Large machinery in operation. It’s a boatyard.

Such a lovely relaxed cafe, we visited here on my sons 21st just for breakfast. The food was incredible, the service was amazing and everyones food was piping hot (not kept just warm considering there was 8 of us!) They even went to the trouble of gifting my son a cake in a lovely 'happy 21st cake box' when they realised it was his birthday. And they have a roof top seating area too! def will be returning for more visits. Thankyou so much guys x

I have no idea who Big Will is, but his breakfast is outstanding. This place is a little gem, hidden by beautiful boats and a view of the river. Nothing is too much for the wonderful staff. You must visit, or visit their sister establishment, The Guard Room at Turnchapel.

Our experience at the Mess Room was mixed. The positives were that the waitresses and waiters were very friendly, and very accommodating of my partner's requirements as a coeliac. The coffee was also very nice. The negatives were that service was quite slow (we got there at just after 9am on a Sunday so it wasn't exactly peak hours). We all had cooked breakfasts, and I felt like mine could've been hotter - the mushrooms were essentially cold, and the egg was completely overcooked. So overall, a bit underwhelming.

We head for here whenever we're in the vicinity around lunchtime. It never disappoints with a good menu of nicely-prepared food, decent coffee and pleasant maritime surroundings (inside at least; outdoors is quite industrial). The only improvement I'd like to see is a better selection of cold drinks.

Popular cafe..nice and warm on a wet windy day. Perhaps I went at a busy time..it was pretty full..and there was a pair of dogs yapping at each other that got a bit annoying at close quarters. Not much the cafe can do about that I guess..especially in the winter. Food good..big portions.

Love this cafe normally but today the food was very poor. We had a tuna melt and a chicken chilli melt. Both arrived with nothing melted and I sent it back. On return still not melted. Only very limited filling and no chilli. I'm writing this not to complain but to advise the owners to learn from it. Definitely the food has gone down hill since we last ate there. More attention to detail and more filling please.

Bought 2 Cokes, 2 paninis, a Baked potato, a Fish finger sandwich...came to £39.40....Looking at the menu after should have came to £32, either menu prices misleading or were overcharged.

Our friends took us for breakfast, we were ready after our walk from nearby. The Mess Room has a large carpark with outside portacabin toilets men/ladies which are situated in the boatyard /dry dockyard. Code is given in the Mess Room to access the toilets . The food waslovely and plentiful washed down with a large cup of coffee. There is a specials board as well as the menu, all prices are affordable with pleasant staff serving.
