Cornish Bakery in Plymouth

We have been using the CB in Plymouth since it opened under Kat and David the service has been brilliant we go most days sometime twice in the day.!! There is nothing not to like the staff are great, your coffee is very good quality and we eat too many of your lovely pastries which are cooked fresh every day.mmmm

Great little shop. The pistachio cross was excellent, great crunchy and lots of filling. The pastle de nata was sweet and smooth. Lovely little shop and great staff. Hot chocolate was delicious too!

A super little Coffee and Pastry shop, a pleasant atmosphere can be found here. The food is really delicious. The place is kept clean and tidy. The place is situated on the Barbican where it overlooks the harbour.

Very good coffee shop down on the edge of the yacht harbour. Good seating and not too crowded together. Good range of coffee options.

Love it here!! Catches all the natural sunlight and makes me feel really upbeat and motivated whenever I pop in. Coffees and pastries are unrivalled - so yummy it should be illegal. I literally go nowhere else for a pastry now 😋 Please give the loo a wipe around a little more often though guys 🙏🏼

Expect to wait a long time for your hot drink to be made in the Cornish Bakery in the Barbican, Plymouth. This is not easy for anyone with a disability. I need to sit down at a table, after the time spent queuing to order a drink at the counter, and this isn’t approved of.

Great location and fabulous coffee. Special mention to Amy who is so kind when visiting with elderly parents.

Atmosphere 10/10. Highly recommend the strawberry lemonade and their croissants.

Coffee shop is light and modern, close to main tourist attractions, with a nice atmosphere. Was made to feel welcome by staff which especially when you are a visitor, on your own in a city you do not know makes a difference. No pressure was put on you to leave making it a good place to relax and chill out. Toilet also modern and clean. Went back the next day as well and would be a regular if I lived in the area.

Visited this place a few times last week. Cherry and almond croissant was a particular hit - absolutely delicious! Reasonable prices and friendly staff.

Fantastic bakery in a superb location. The staff are super friendly and cater to meet all your needs. Special mention to Alice and Kori for their super attention to detail. Super clean and all-round positive experience.

Today I treated my mum to lunch here, we had the goats cheese roll which was amazing and also had the cherry and walnut croissant and rubarb and custard pasty.....food was delicious, served by amy who was lovely and friendly

Lovely location and atmosphere, right by the waterfront with outside seating. The staff are excellent, they even remember our order each time :)

We’ve eaten at a Cornish Bakery before at a different location and had their Cornish pudding, it’s to die for, apparently it is made up of all the pastries at the end of the day. We had it warmed with cream, you couldn’t eat it every day but we did today. Drinks were good too, my daughter’s chai was a work of art. We also brought home a traditional and cheese and onion pasty, they were equally good.

Excellent breakfast! We enjoyed very good coffees and pastries to die for, better than in many French bakeries. Thanks to the very nice team.

Delicious pasties and sweet pastries. In Plymouth for the weekend to visit family and came for lunch on Sat. Came back on Sunday to take away some pasties for long train journey. Wanted to try the well recommended apple and rhubarb sweet pasty but were sold out so will have to try next time in Plymouth! Sampled 4 different savoury ones and all were excellent with nice tender meat in traditional one.

Coffee was excellent and pastries looked fresh. Recommend the flat white coffees here.

The pasties are all delicious, the coffees are made to perfections and the staff are so lovely. Notable mention to the array of vegetarian pasty options. Highly recommend a visit!

My favourite coffee in Plymouth! So many pastries to choose from I can’t wait to try them all, however the cherry almond croissant is a winner! Great view of the harbour too

Came in with my boyfriend for a coffee also got a vegan croissant which was top notch! Had wonderful service from a Jessie which made the whole experience exceptional, would definitely recommend

We used to love coming here, but now it’s like a Uni library. Nowhere to sit today & 7 tables occupied by students working with laptops!! It’s ridiculous, they stay hours with one coffee & people can’t get a seat! They must be losing so much business! They need to sort this, myself & family had to go elsewhere.

Brilliant service as always. The manager, Cat, is an absolute gem and is always willing to go the extra mile with her service. I’d eat here every day if I could. One catch, it is card only, but let’s be honest it’s 2024….! Who still carries cash?

Was here for an important business breakfast before conducting some business in the city- i’m a business man you see. Very business friendly.

Called in today for coffee and a pasty tables was dirty and full of dishes the biggest thing is they don't take cash if it was me I would had walked out but my wife paid every one uses the toilet wether there using the cafe been once won't be back the pasty wasn't the best either should tell people card only

All of the staff were dressed as pirates and were full of smiles as part of the local pirate weekend. Service was exemplary and the food as usual was fabulous!

Amazing cafe, selling fresh pastries baked onsite and good coffee. All this and great views of the boats in Sutton Harbour. If I lived in Plymouth I would go there every morning!

Amazing staff amazing atmosphere

Had a cream tea, scones were lovely and fresh. Staff were helpful letting us know they did a deal for cream tea. Was so nice and relaxed in there and nice to see the lady baking in the shop.

Yes. A definite recommendation. It missed 5 stars by a hair. I decided to drop a star because the tables don’t get cleared. I cleared my own table and since there was no where to put the dishes I put them on another table was not cleared. I often like to add photos of nice places but I am not because people will see unclean and uncleared tables in the foreground.

A great place to go for a coffee and sit and look at the view of the boats in the marina on a sunny day you could be anywhere. There are tables outside too. We love the cakes, corniche pudding and Portuguese tarts or a slice of tortilla.

Lovely coffee and pastry section, all very tasty. Perfect setting, and nice atmosphere. Will be back again I’m sure! However, a star down for not accepting cash even though it still should an accepted currency.

Fancied a coffee and a cake, coffee nice but fly's on several food trays in the food selection. Table all seeded cleaning too, shame nice spot for coffee and a view of the harbour.

Visited thus place on previous occasions and been reasonably happy but on a recent occasion we ordered sausage rolls and were told they were only served cold.we had a small side salad and were advised that they had no dressing, the salad was an extornate £1.50. The male staff member was quite brusque and unhelpful. Not a good experience.

Freezing cold day, air conditioning blowing Arctic gale. Asked for sausage roll to be warmed, refused. Half dozen lettuce leaves with quiche , leaves £1.50, no dressing. Typical poor quality British rip off. Unfriendly, unwelcoming staff, disgusted

This cafe is fabulous, situated in a prime location with views overlooking the harbour. The food is great and the service is excellent. If you’re into spicy food, try something different like the onion baji pasty or try one of the delicious cakes and pastries with the coffee of your choice.

Stopped in for a coffee to get out of the rain! Great coffee and hot chocolate. Even though it was quiet alot of the tables still had ditty cups etc. on them which was a shame

We go here quite a lot as the pastry's are lovely however the service is so slow, I used the toilet facilities today and they only have 1 toilet, the floor was wet and it had a very strong smell of wee. Not the best. Will get the pastry's to go take away in the future I think

An absolute delight!! A complete hidden gem. I had a lovely scone with cream and jam and a raspberry lemonade. Staff were ever so friendly. The only downside was that I was charged for a strawberry milkshake instead of lemonade so I did pay too much. These accidents do happen and I was so impressed with everything else there that I did not mind.

The coffee was amazing and also tried the cherry and almond croissant amazing lovely atmosphere and kid friendly and staff are very friendly and approachable

Great food, not cheap but you get what you pay for. It's disappointing at times when trying to get a seat as students with a bottle of water or an empty cup sit there for eons with laptops doing school work. It's a restaurant/café not a classroom.

Very relaxed atmosphere, staff cheerful and happy to serve. Since my last review whilst the review remains the same the prices have gone up quite a bit, for example a coffee and and cake use to be £5.75 but today (5th Jan 2024) is now £6.15.. which to me is enough to make me think of going elsewhere.

Went in for a pasty and latte. Served by the lovely Leona. The reason I didn't give you the full 5 ⭐ was due to the small flies hovering around my food. They took a while to get the hint that I didn't want to share my lunch with them It's in a wonderful position, has beautiful views, comfortable seats with extra cushions if needed. The staff couldn't be more helpful The only toilet I could see was accessible, unlike some other good eateries nearby where the facilities are upstairs, so well done Cornish Bakery This was my second visit, and it probably won't be long before I'm back

Love it here, great food (if not a bit expensive). Not a huge fan of the coffee but the placement and service make up for it. Very dog friendly.

A cosy place and some lovely staff!

My order arrived wrong, but it was still nice what I had. I didn’t query it because I was half way through my traditional pasty before I realised it was cheese and onion and I’d had no meat yet! The cheese and onion was good though. Also I’ve rated the atmosphere 3 stars as the whole restaurant was full of tiny flies which landed on our food and swarmed our faces which really put me off

Came in out of the rain and were welcomed warmly. Sat at a table by the window with the most wonderful hot chocolate. Highly recommended. Enjoyed this so much that we came back at a lunchtime with other family members. Really good pasties - both vegetable and traditional. Highchair available. Food and drinks arrived promptly and with a smile.

After a short stroll from the city centre we arrived at The Barbican and decided to stop here for a break. I had a Mocha and Julie had a Decaf Tea. We both had a plain scone each and I opted for clotted cream (yes, jam first then cream). The coffee was just right and was hot. Julie’s tea was right - ensuring she took out the tea bag as not to have it too stewed. The scones were fresh and were not dry, indicating freshly baked or at least they tasted fresh… crumbling and melting in your mouth with just the right consistency. The place was about a third full and although there were only two staff on (as far as we could see) they tried to keep the tables clear as best they could. Very friendly staff too. I put all our finished things on the tray and took over to the counter to help them out. Lovely view across the marina and harbour.

Great harbour view with a good selection of cakes, pasties and drinks. Access from both sides of the shop with easy access for wheel chairs etc from one side. Recommend

Since its opening, this has been my favourite cafe in Plymouth. The cheese twist and the white mocha are to die for! Friendly service, comfortable atmosphere and delicious food! 10/10 every time :)

This place has the magical power to set your day just right and mark it as a happy day. I mean have you tried their mouth watering bakeries and coffee? They’re out of this World! The textures and richness of their cakes are just amazing 😋 Last time we got the lemon cake which is very different with the subtle hint of earl grey added and the beautiful mini edible flower petals decorating it. We also got the coffee cake which was so light and had a very airy dreamy icing that’ll make you forget about the best tiramisu or any coffee-based dessert really you’ve ever had 🥹 Not to mention the picturesque view of the Barbican of course 🚤

I know it’s a chain, but this place has great food, great coffee, and a great atmosphere. Excellent quick service for my Monday lunch. Spiced cauliflower pasty and coffee cake were just top notch, as was my flat white.

The scone in a cream tea set is jumbo! It’s also soft, dense, and buttery, so good. The café is bright and spacious with a harbor view. Clean toilet. So you order at the counter, wait for your food there, and bring the tray to the table you choose.

I popped in to see if they were open, after search for a place to get coffee early in the morning. Although they were closed he offered to make me a coffee with no charge. Very kind and the coffee was delicious, just what I needed to start the day. Thank you for your generosity!!!

What a filthy place. I wish I read the reviews before. Exactly what someone stated last month. Filthy tables, toilets absolutely disgusting. Should be shut down by Health and Safety. In fact we are going to call them to report it. How can this be allowed. Staff very unassuming and so do not want to be there.

Lovely coffee and pastries served on good quality pottery . The location is perfect with delightful views of the harbour. We were served quickly , maybe a tad to quick as myself in particular would like to have browsed at the menu boards . Inside the cafe it was cool ( it was a particularly hot morning) and clean. Unfortunately there was a couple with a dog and they were letting the dog drink out of a glass 😖. Yes i do love animals but not the owners who seem to think it’s ok to let them drink from glasses. Note to staff maybe a sign to ‘ pets drinking bowls outside’ Would I go again ? Yes

Appalling. The tables were filthy . When the staff eventually cleared the tables they did not wipe them off let alone use any sanitiser. The toilet was also filthy the whole room had not been cleaned in a long time. There was excrement smeared along the baby changer. The coffee was very bitter and not pleasant.

I had the cherry and almond croissant and wasn’t expecting it to be as delicious as it was. Oh my goodness it’s good! The cafe is a beautiful location and welcomes dogs so I’ll be bringing my little fur babies next time. I’ll definitely be back.

Home of the best pasty in the world (curried cauliflower and onion bhaji)

Lovely food and drink. We've visited the Truro, Falmouth and Plymouth Cornish Bakery this month and the Plymouth one is very messy in comparison. Customers are literally walking in and cleaning their own tables. Weird and a bit stressful

A really lovely place and not too busy with huge floor to ceiling windows overlooking Sutton Harbour. Delicious pastries especially the cornish pudding. The guy who runs the place is so helpful and friendly too. Also dog friendly. The coffee is outstanding. Highly recommended.

Had a pit stop here, enjoyed the vegetable pasty I ordered. My Mum had a strawberry lemonade which was refreshing, but it had too much ice, probably to make the drink seem larger than it was, as many places do! Staff were friendly and tables seemed clean.

This has become my favourite meeting spot by the water - fab views, free wifi and THE BEST coffee on the Barbican by a long way! it's dog friendly too. Have a Pastel de Nata, you won't be sorry!

Was served by a young lady called Leona, who did not stop smiling! Felt incredibly welcome, and thoroughly enjoyed our coffee and scones. Beautiful holiday vibe with stunning views. Well worth a visit.

Visited here earlier last week, had a Portuguese tart & coffee. The staff were extremely friendly, views are fabulous. Felt very welcome and at ease great place to people watch and unwind...credit to the young man with tattoos he was clearing the tables but still had time for chat considering the pressure he was under. I will back again this week.

The best bakery in Plymouth, vibes, taste and the BEST customer service ..me and my family went as a big group and really can’t fault this place.. the staff are so friendly and helpful. Special thank you to Mark, beautiful soul.
