Lovely. Except it seems you now don’t warm up bacon and cheese croissants. For what reason?. They aren’t good cold.

Absolutely awful. Been here twice now and safe to say I won't ever be going back. Trying to serve too many people, so just takes ages for just a coffee. Completely dirty, and serving food on trays that aren't even clean. I was give a dirty tray, cutlery and even the jug was flithy How this place doesn't have a 1 star for food hygiene is unbelievable. I would definitely avoid at all costs

We happened upon this lovely coffee shop and bakery during a recent visit to Plymouth. It was busy when we arrived and struggled for a table but this isn't a bad thing. The coffee (flat white & latte) was spot on and the food was also really good and artisan quality. This place was a really good find and I'd definitely be back if we ever visit Plymouth again.

We visited this amazing place while on a family holiday recently and we were delighted with our experience. We have a four legged family member and they welcome them in which was super convenient as its very hard to find a place like this that also allows dogs. The atmosphere was lovely and vibrant, the staff were attentive and friendly, the food was delicious (this was our first authentic taste of a cornish pasty) pasty - chefs kiss! The coffee was also delicious. The pricing was reasonable considering how great the food was which is also a bonus. All round this place was amazing and we highly recommend it. P.s for any pastry lovers, I recommend the pistachio croissant!

After a short stroll from the city centre we arrived at The Barbican and decided to stop here for a break. I had a Mocha and Julie had a Decaf Tea. We both had a plain scone each and I opted for clotted cream (yes, jam first then cream). The coffee was just right and was hot. Julie’s tea was right - ensuring she took out the tea bag as not to have it too stewed. The scones were fresh and were not dry, indicating freshly baked or at least they tasted fresh… crumbling and melting in your mouth with just the right consistency. The place was about a third full and although there were only two staff on (as far as we could see) they tried to keep the tables clear as best they could. Very friendly staff too. I put all our finished things on the tray and took over to the counter to help them out. Lovely view across the marina and harbour.

The Chancel has been one of our favourite places to eat in Plymouth for many years. During Covid and a bit longer they’ve been delivering or preparing for collection. Without much thought or any foreknowledge we walked down this evening hoping it might up and running for their traditional bistro food and good wines. Very disappointed therefore to find it dark, empty and will a To Let sign. No hint that there might still be an online service. Pity and we’re sad. Many dozens of happy memories.
