Excellent view. Great selection of specials. Seafood heaven. Lovely selection of pastries too.
Additional bonus: They sell bait for fishing and crabbing.
In Ilchester for a car service and dropped into the Ilchester Arms for breakfast. They weren't cooking at the time but they made a Bacon sandwich for me anyway ❤️ Really very good of them, friendly service that you remember. Thanks !!
Not the fastest service, but a clean comfortable well laid out restaurant. The liked the atmosphere and choice of background music which presented well the Italian theme. Pity the staff don't have a uniform to match. The food was absolutely fine.
Looking forward to a chip supper I ordered a steak and kidney pie and chips, not difficult one would have thought. However, the pie was just zapped in the microwave and turned out to be completely inedible as the pastry was like tired old leather. And the staple of a Chippy, the chips. Well they were stone cold , flacid excuses for chips. Pretty much all the meal ended up in the bin.
We were looking for somewhere for a quick bite to eat and the window display caught our eye. Well laid out and inviting. There is a list covering the different cakes for each dietary condition. You can take away or eat in upstairs. We are upstairs and had a slice of black forest gateaux. This was delicious and full of cream. My husband had a cheese sandwich which came with coleslaw, salad and crisps. Both were well worth the money and we will visit again .thank you
Lovely and varied vegetarian Chinese food, lovely friendly service and atmosphere too. Four of us ate here and all our dishes were delicious and utterly fresh, but also very different from each other which was a bonus. Especially recommend the noodles!
Nice cafe but why do the owners not update the website to make all of us loyal customers aware that they’re taking a well-earned break? Really frustrating to travel to Fowey after checking online and seeing “open until 4.00pm”. This is 2025 not 1925…..use the website for what it’s intended for or be like many other (crap) hospitality businesses that don’t even bother with an online presence?
After waiting 30 mins for our order in the big fish for GREEK food. We arrived home with 1 out of our 3 meals missing.
We were looking forward to eating as a family. Instead I drove 15 min back to the bath road. They admitted they had forgotten our meal and I asked for compensation due to having had to make an over all 30 min journey back and disrupting our meal. The Greek grey haired manager was extremely rude and threw £5 at me for petrol. He aggressively ushered me out of the shop. I was so upset I called on the way home and asked for the owners name and email to which one of the poor girls replied “ please don’t shoot the messenger but he says if you want it come in and get it”
What a horrible and threatening man. I arrived home to a stone cold meal.
I recommend a course on customer service.
What a shame. I’ve lived in Cheltenham for 50 years and the big fish restaurant has always had such a good name and reputation.
Sad to say that Pinky Murphy’s is no more….it was a super quirky cafe come coffee shop come artistic venue. Guessing Covid, Brexit and rent all had something to do with its demise.
Great place to stay, Carl cooked a lovely full English breakfast. Bar staff the night before were very friendly and it was a lovely atmosphere in the bar.
Worst fishcake ever.
Tonight my husband ordered fishcake and chips twice. I have only ever had chips from this shop and they are generally good.
Tonight we didnt want the expense of fish and chips so settled on a fishcake instead.
I was surprised at the £16 cost to start with for 2 meals - never worth that. But the worst part was the fishcake which was a sloppy texture. There was a strong flavour of onion - other than that it was tasteless. The gloopy texture was unappetising so the dog ended up finishing them as neither of us could eat them.
A waste of money and so disappointing.
