Struggling to find a fish and chip shop open on a Tuesday lunchtime in February. Ordered in advance. Picked up, wonderful service from the lady on the phone and the smiling, cheerful, engaging guy behind the counter. 10/10 for the Cod, Chips and Mushy Peas, as fresh and as hot as you'd expect in the middle of a Friday night service, and this was a wet Tuesday lunchtime.... Fantastic.

First last time we used it about a year ago I gave a 5star review. What a difference a year makes. This time it tasted and had the consistency of being reheated, so disappointed as I had driven a few miles to pick up.

Fresh cod hig chunks of fresh fish. Batter was light. Curry sauce was tangy . Chips could have been a little crisper they stuck together in the bag. A little pricey at £14.90 for large fish & chips & curry sauce. A 8/10

What happened? It was not a great experience today. Unfortunately, chips were not the best ... I'm so disappointed.. drove here, especially for the fluffy chips I remember. Now skinny terrible chips... It's such a shame.. Fish wasn't that great, either tiny and greasy. Expensive lunch .. battered sausage was good and tasty, though, so we shared that! 😔

This is take away only and there was a bit of a wait the last time we visited but it was worth it. Fish & chips were delicious. I'll definitely return

Delicious! Worth the wait at peak times - do not be put off by this. We always look forward to getting our fish and chips and then eating them by the sea at Mudeford.

Went to order at around 6.00pm on a Wednesday evening and had to wait around twenty minutes or so, but it was worth it. The quality of the food was excellent and the portions more than adequate.

Read the 1 star reviews. Yes, chips are reheated/refried. Bag of bits rather than any proper chips. Orientalist woman quite rude and miserable. Young boy taking orders is robotic/AI and is lacking. Quite terrible food. Happy not to have purchased anything else. There are good Fish & Chip shops around. But certainly NOT this one. Don’t be fooled by false reviews.

Being local and have driven past a few times my wife and I decided to drive there and take fish and chips to the beach at Mudeford after waiting twenty mins for it, it was very disappointing large haddock was brown the cod was small and it tasted like frozen fish the chips tasted like they were re heated all this amazing disappointment cost £24 some of the staff are Chinese and they cannot cook fish and chips in my eyes as I’ve been served by them before in other establishments and the same results occurred, I wish this place all the best but I will not be going back or recommend it .

We holiday in mudeford every year for the last 18yrs, always go to Alexander’s for fish and chips, however this visit to this chip shop was the last, we spent £56 and majority of the food went in the bin, we had fish and chips, large fish, which was mostly batter and what fish there was it was on the turn the smell of ammonia was strong, it definitely was not fresh and the chips where scabby and bitty not nice at all, please don’t waste your money there is much better in the area , what a shame as it use to be a nice chippy

Great service although very busy and wow chips pineapple fritter to die for and my partner had fishcake plus chips excellent value and quality keep up the great work guys I would definitely recommend Alexander's.

Re-fried chips from lunch menu; at 5.10pm shortly after opening. Most of the ‘chips’, were actually fragments and crispy ends. If this is what people give reviews about or it’s the only chip shop within miles?!? Not hygienic coupled with robotic young serving boy and miserable oriental woman.

Not as good as previous visits, the fish was Ok but the chips looked and tasted like they were yesterday's cooked again!

Great food! We got takeaway from here and ate out at Mudeford Quay. They serve you in 10-15 minutes at peak hours so relatively fast. There are several chairs inside where you can wait for your food. Prices are pretty average I added a photo of the updated menu. Delicious Cod perfectly prepared the fish was nice and flaky soft on the inside. Outside was crunchy and amazing. It was a good size filet. The chips were good however the bag they came in made them soggy after aprox 10 minutes so the last half of the chips were abit harder to eat. Id recommend to bring your own salt and ketchup for eating this so you can easily add what you need. The portion was great, most of us got large portions and they were truly large! The food was so good I forgot to take a photo of it. To summarize a great fish and chips experience that I'd recommend to others.

I visited this chip shop again as it has a great friendly service. The food is out of this world. Fabulous fish, chips, spam fritters and savloys. The food was freshly cooked and decent size portions of chips. I am definitely visiting again and absolutely recommend a visit to try this great value for money food.

Amazing chip shop big queues but everything is so well run it takes no time to get your order. There are seats outside the shop where you sit waiting for your number to be called well worth the wait food was excellent don't let the queue put you off

I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best fish and chip shop in the world. They are understandably busy at peak times but means the food is always cooked fresh. Alexander’s stands head and shoulders above the rest

Staff are absolutely lovely. Food was so delicious we drove out of our way just to eat from there. Prices are fair. Get there early there will be a queue but we’ll worth the wait. If your in the area this is a definite if you want fish and chips

Still worth the queue - sadly we save this treat for our last night but how lovely it is especially eating by the sea. Food cooked to order so yes we had to wait but the staff are organised and work through the orders pretty quickly. We had cod, scampi and battered sausages in our order all with chips and there was nothing left so that speaks volumes, we will be back in the summer but maybe have on our first night rather than our last.

A busy fish and chip shop, serving well cooked food. The fish was perfectly served with a crispy, tasty batter, chicken nuggets and sausages were also tasty and well done. Only problem is parking due to its popularity there's limited on street parking.

Difficult to park nearby,long queue most times which mean it's popular,we had rock and chips each and the portions were great realy good chips too,unfortunately the fish made both me and my wife ill terrible night .... don't know what went wrong we were reccomended this place by several people

We came to this fish & chip shop many years ago when our children were young (at least 15 years ago) and wondered if it was still there and were very happy to see it is. The queue was long at opening time 5pm but the service was well organised and staff were very efficient at taking orders and payments and serving up the orders without a long wait. The fish pieces were huge and 1 regular portion of chips was plenty for the two of us (1 fish would easily have fed both of us) and I'm pleased to say the quality and taste were as good as we remembered, excellent well recommend it 😉

Having been delighted with Alexander’s food over the past year tonight’s purchase was was a huge disappointment First, having ordered chicken nuggets we were extremely surprised to find onion rings instead - they don’t look remotely the same. Second and even worse the battered cod you served us had quite clearly been overcooked and was inedible. The batter was very hard and the fish dry. The only reason I’ve given you any stars is the chips and battered haddock were good I’m not sure I’ll go back for a while though.

Came down on a family holiday. Had fish and chips from here many times. We all agreed best fish and chips we’ve had! Would highly recommend.

Paid a visit at lunch time, not my normal Chippy but thought as i was close i would give them ago, i hadn't been in there for years. Well i wish i hadn't. The quality was fine, the portion size was poor. A sausage is a sausage but a portion of chips at £2.50 no bigger that a standard bag of crisps was extremely bad. I do understand that food/materials have increased in price but there is no excuse for portion size to drop as well. Other local chip shop portions are double the size for the same price. I am a local and this isn't the holiday season....look after your bread and butter.

Disappointed with food from here. Gave us incorrect order, but didn't realise until back home. Chip sizes are smaller than other places. "Jumbo sausage" was only about 3 inches long not "jumbo" by any means. Smallest tub mushy peas I've seen. Food not served in order of placing. Sadly won't be using again.

Best battered sausages ever! Extra long as well. The batter was really crispy, the chips very good and all wrapped in a bag that didn't leak grease. Service was cheerful and quick as individual items were cooked to order. Found this place by accident but a very happy accident. Will go back.

Top class! On a walk, we stopped for a lunch takeaway. Delicious fresh fish and beautifully cooked chips. Friendly staff. The shop was clean, service efficient and prompt. Will definitely visit if we're in the area again.

We have been going to Alexander's for almost 12 years now whilst on holiday, we always use this chip shop as we found it the best in the area. Sadly this year they dropped the ball, the chips were greasy and super small portions and the price was insulting. Over £20 for a portion of chips, sausage, medium cod and chicken chunks. Now this chip shop gets super busy, queues to get in there actually end up going into the next road so I would suggest this may have been an off day, however we were first in the queue purposely so there's not really an excuse for poor quality. The staff are always super polite, the shop is clean and has a one way system in place as usual, you order, take a seat outside and wait to be called back in. You cannot eat at the premises the seating is purely for those waiting which is great. We love Alexander's, let's hope they read this review and get back to being awesome again xx

If I could give this fish n chip shop less than 1 STAR I would... upon appearance one would think this was a good place due to the sheer numbers flocking to the door.. Either people have low expectations or they are tolerant to soggy greasy chips & heavy soggy batter containing tasteless inedible grey coloured fish... We threw most of our portions away... very disappointed.

Don't be put off by the queue - its worth it and staff are efficient and food is served pretty quick and its the best especially when you have them by the sea!!! It's always our last supper before we go home.

Really good fish and chips! First time ever my son had a battered sausage that was not soggy or pale.lovely golden and crispy batter. Staff efficient and the service was quick.

I Like Alexander’s really good quality, only gripe is they serve it in Bag . When you pay £7.50 for a piece of fish , the last thing you want is the batter going soggy, please please please can you start to serve in boxes, I know many people say the same. They love to pop in grab a chippy tea and then eat it on Mudeford quay , much easier to handle and enjoy either in a tray or box .

Friday night takeaway 15th July. Surprisingly quiet for 6.30pm visit but as always the staff were friendly and the fish & chips were as always perfect. We stay at Sandhills Mudeford every year at visit Alexanders at least during our two week stay every year....

Stopped here after a day on the beach nearby and reading good reviews. In spite of the number of people waiting, ours was ready quite quickly. Fish was cooked fresh, good batter, skinless (always a winner) and nice chips. My veggie daughter was excited to see pea fritters on the menu, but unfortunately it didn't meet up to her expectations - too many peas, not enough batter, but that may suit some. Overall a nice meal, but only gave 4 as it wasn't quite up there with our fave chippies
