Really welcoming local public house. Set on side of road with space out front. A great atmosphere is obvious as soon as you enter.. Nice longe bar with very friendly bar team. Restaurant style room set at end and enclosed garden at rear. Good variety of food on offer as well as a variety of drinks. Reasonable prices and clean facilities a bonus.. Fast becoming our local too.

I'm very impressed with this place. Had a Sunday lunch here. There were 9 of us. All the meals came out hot, and at the same time. Not one order was wrong. We did have a little wait for the food, which was nice as we were not rushed and could sit and leisurely talk. This, to me, was a positive as you know the food is being freshly prepared. A nice selection of dishes to choose from. Gluten-free options are available. The roast was amazing, 5-6 different vegetables. The fish and chips were beautifully cooked. It's very reasonably priced, too. You will not go wrong if you give this place a try.

Great pub near Christchurch. Had a Sunday lunch here and the service was great and atmosphere good. Very friendly staff and the biggest Yorkshire puddings I've ever had!!! Great beer selection too. Seating inside and out plus a small sheltered garden put back. Well worth a visit and we'll definitely be back. 👍🏻

We recently moved to the village of Burton and have found the Oak to be a lovely, authentic village pub serving a wide range of beers and other drinks. The ambiance, service and welcome is brilliant. My wife and I have enjoyed a couple of lovely meals there but recently held a family meal for 9 of us there. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all, young and not so young. The service was brilliant and we all enjoyed our evening. The Oak has certainly enhanced our enjoyment of village life.

Went here with two mates for a trip to Bournemouth, this is just down the road from our campsite and an absolute little treasure to have found! Food prices are I would say, a comfortable average pub price- But the food fills elevated, the typical pub classics you expect but to a higher standard. Meal and dessert were lovely, they had some card games next to our table to play. We've been given some little chocolate gifts after paying, one each. They also had plugs and let us charge our gear during our visit (non electrical camp). Waitresses were really sweet. We would absolutely come back in the future.

Myself and my family went here for a meal today, firstly the staff were so accommodating and friendly. The venue is inviting with a fabulous beer garden and the meal itself was tremendous. Would definitely recommend 👌

My first visit to this pub was warm & inviting & will definitely be visiting again.

We normally love this pub. We come on holiday twice a year and always visit this pub; normally a must. Husband and wife landlord and lady are friendly and food is always so fresh. This time we visited today, unfortunately it was horrendous, I never leave reviews but feel compelled to on this occasion. Five of us visited today, four adults and a child. It took forever to be served our drinks. When our food eventually arrived the children's meal was wrong. It also took well into half the meal to bring a side of chips. The steak frites was so thin I could have used it as a mirror; it was overcooked and almost broiled, plonked on some frozen McCain's fries. These had unfortunately gone soggy due to the blood and fat from the steak. I didn't eat two mouthfuls when I informed the staff and was told the cost would be removed when paying, however, when checking the bill I was still charged. I never leave reviews to complain but this place has gone massively down hill. After this visit we will never return, hope others see this and choose a nicer pub, so many around the area. When I discovered I had still been charged for the meal, I phoned and was informed manager would contact me back, this was never done. It would seem they don't care about this experience. In response to the owner: we arrived at 14:20, 10 minutes early not late! In this, might want to get your facts correct. Secondly everyone in our party ordered individually not one person, except for a child. We did order correctly and asked for he amendment to the sausage and mash to sausage and chips, the waitress, although very polite, is the person who got the order wrong! We also did not order salad, we asked for a portion of chips at the time of ordering (not after), and when we chased with the server due to being half way into the meal, we asked where the side of chips were, to which the server seemed to muddle it into a salad and chips order. We then pointed this out that we had said 'side of chips' not 'salad and chips' as we were chasing the chips asked for at the original point of ordering, before you even having chance to make the salad. The steak was overcooked, I would have loved it pink! We left at 15:30. When I got home and realised the price of the steak had not been deducted I called straight back and was told we receive a call straight back. Currently it is 19:00 with no telephone response. You did offer the gesture of goodwill (after only eating one bite of the meal, however then proceeded to charge). 20% is an offer you have on Wednesdays for all patrons, not just our party or myself as a sole individual). In turn, before you write a response (in your words factual) you may want to ensure your response is true. Owners like this just make things up, literally not one aspect of this response is true and factual. If you cannot write a true response, please refrain from doing so. Update: called back at 19:47, landlord not available; despite having time to respond to this.

Excellent food, huge portions freshly cooked and so much choice on the menu. Pleasant staff and pub. We will be back!

Lovely food, excellent service, food was great. Nothing was too much trouble, very attentive. Waitress was lovely, made sure we were happy with our choice.

What a find! I have been several times in the last month or so and just loved the place. We have eaten there a couple of times and food is excellent and plentiful. All staff are very welcoming and happy to chat. A fantastic village pub which caters for all ages(bingo on a Thursday afternoon) I will be frequenting The Oak more in the next few months and totally recommend to anyone. See you soon guys

Nice boozer for darts. However £4 for a 330ml bottle of peroni zero is a tad over the top that equates to around £7 a pint. Hardly encouraging for a driver or anyone else not wanting an alcoholic beer. Especially as at wholesale they are 87p each.

Such a great experience here. Lovely pub with a very welcoming atmosphere. Excellent real ale, you can really tell its looked after well. Good selection of food as well. Had a very excellent fish finger sandwich for lunch which exceeded my expectations. Overall very impressed with this lovely pub. Good to see place like this still be very professionally run. Hope to come back soon for the Sunday roast

Excellent home cooked food and great friendly service. Highly recommended. We are hoping to move to the area and though we would check out the local pubs, lucky to find this one, we will definitely be back.

Lovely lunch delicious homemade food and friendly welcoming staff

I came to the oak on a Wednesday for dinner with my girlfriend. The second we stepped foot through the door we felt welcomed. Being the time of year it is and the time we decided to dine it was quiet whilst still exceedingly atmospheric. After being served our drinks by the attentive bar staff (a very lovely lady whos name escapes me), the head chef alex struck up a conversation with us from behind the bar. Clearly a man that knows his food, his menu and commands a perfect execution of the dishes he prepares. Whilst we were perusing the menu, the chef; Alex, instead of forcing the most expensive items on the menu upon us, helped us to find items that perfectly suited what we were looking for. Having worked in hospitality for years myself, both back and front of house, ive never met a chef so forthwright in customer engagement whilst maintaing pure proffesionalism. Being a cold and horribly wet novemeber eve, i setteld on the trio of sausages with mash, peas and hands down the best onion gravy ive ever had the pleasure to consume! My other half went for the venison and squash hot-pot. We ended up sharing both between us as each dish warrented food envy from either side. With the complex flavours, presentation and quality of the food, youd expect a hefty price tag. But that is also not the case. I cannot wait to return and i cannot stop recommending this gem hidden in the grassy rough of the country side.

We visited for lunch on a Wednesday, benefitting from a 20% discount. We had booked, but that was unnecessary as it was comparatively quiet. The menu had plenty of choice and the service was good. The food was well presented, plentiful and hot (not something we can guarantee these days). We will not leave it more than 5 years before we visit again.

Warm, friendly greeting. Lovely meal, reasonably priced. it was our first time at the pub but Paul, Debbie and Daisy made our evening special. It was music night but the band playing were not the usual band. So we will go again to hear their normal band. Thoroughly recommend the Oak. We will definitely go back now we have discovered it.

Had a nice meal on Saturday. With family. Nice food. But the band playing was terrible. The singer had not a clue.

Today was our first time eating at the Oak Inn on a Sunday. So good I had to leave a review, pleasant ambience and wonderful staff add up to a great dining experience. The quality of the roast lunch was exceptional. We had the beef and lamb, both cooked perfectly. The vegetable selection had flavour rarely experienced in pubs. Hats off to the chefs, especially as the whole place was packed. We’ll definitely be back soon!

This place has recently been taken over and completely done up. The food looked excellent. Staff were really friendly. I think that this place has probably taken all the custom from The Manor... we will be returning for a meal soon. And we did indeed return for a meal and it was wonderful...

Went today for a lovely lunch such friendly staff and lovely chef. Food was amazing. Nice cozy little pub in a nice village. Dog friendly pub so we was able to take the dog too.

Very welcoming and friendly. Food delicious. Can recommend the duck and sea bass, both came with amazing sauces. I wish we lived closer as it would be my 'go to' eating place.

Phoned to see about availability for a meal last minute and was told currently there are no tables but if you would like to come down and wait you could get one as there were people eating but not finished yet. I asked for it to be reserved if they had finished before we arrived. Which it was. On arrival all the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The food was really good and reasonably priced along with the drinks. As it was quiz night we asked if we could join in and have a go if we were not to late. Which we did. What a lovely friendly atmosphere it was doing the quiz. It was a great night out. We will definitely be back next time we are visiting the area.

We had a post-funeral wake here this afternoon. The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us and the buffet was varied, fresh and very tasty. It was a nice touch that the ? manager came out into the garden to say goodbye to us at the end of his shift and the chef provided boxes to take home some of the buffet leftovers. We appreciated the kindness and sensitivity of all the staff.

I wandered into the Oak last Wednesday for the first time, despite having lived in Christchurch for over 15 years. I wasn't sure what to expect as I had heard various opinions about this pub from friends and acquaintances. My first impressions were very good as I loved the decor and the atmosphere in there. It is a beautiful country pub where I instantly felt home. The barmaid was incredibly attentive and very accommodating. I decided to get a light bite just before the kitchen closed. The food was to die for. Their charming chef came out and discussed the dietary requirements with me before serving me the dish with a beautiful presentation himself. I looked at the photos on the pub's page and I could see they have a close-knit little community there made up of the locals. I really liked it. The second time I went was Saturday night to see a band. The music was absolutely fantastic and the vibe in there was just what a needed. People seemed to know each other in there, there was a lot of happy chatting & dancing. I know, I that I will want to visit again.

Got there early and our table was ready great food and service

It was my wife’s birthday and we went for the Friday fish and chips at lunchtime. Sat in the Secret Garden under the covered area on a very comfortable sofa. The fish and chips were really good, nice sized fish as well. This is our second visit this year, the other one was around a month or so ago when four of us had a meal inside the pub. Three of us had the fish pie which was delicious and one had fish and chips. The chef came to our table and explained what was in the fish pie.

Very friendly pub, Timothy Tailor on draught, great Sunday roast followed by trillionairs tart with ice cream. No need to eat till Tuesday.

Friendly and Welcoming! We visited 3 times on our 5 day stay locally. Every time the staff and locals are really friendly, chatty and easy going. The prices I'd rate as acceptably moderate. The square toilets were a new experience. Thank you Oak staff.

My wife and I were greeted and given a menu with a good selection of meals and also informed of their specials, the meal we chose was delicious and well presented, the staff were very polite and courteous. Our first visit to this pub, definitely not our last.👍

A friendly 'local' pub. Original in layout. Spacious and cosy. Not too may tables squeezed in. Good seating areas - friendly staff, drinks etc well priced and readily available. Food is varied, well presented and the menu is wide ranging. Food quality is quite good and delivered quickly. However, we ordered the 'Pie' as it was advertised on the menu - expecting a pie as advertised. We were served with smallish 'wedge' cut from a much larger pie, this fell short of our expectations - suspect the wedge was heated up too. Not as hot as the chips and gravy - but quite tasty. Car parking is tight, but parking space available in the immediate area. A small beer garden joins the car park.

A very pleasant visit I went for lunch with a friend the biggest and best plowman's lunch ever I had a real job to eat it all but much to tasty to leave. Nothing was to much trouble for Rob the landlord a very pleasant experience. A wonderful traditional pub to take our foreign friends to for a Sunday lunch. Great service, wonderful food, and very generous portions. A great experience. There is an African grey at the front of the pub. Right next to the live music. I couldn’t stand where he is kept, due to the music being so loud. I don’t think it’s fair and should be able to move away if it’s uncomfortable.

Shocking! Somebody rescue that poor African grey parrot that's being traumatised next to the live music. It's a disgrace!

Fabulous Sunday lunch at a great pub that isn't part of a chain. Lovely food served with plenty of vegetables followed by a delicious dessert. It was nice to enjoy a meal and have a conversation without being drowned out by loud music and to be served by lovely staff in a pub that has a nice atmosphere. We had Chicken Burger and Fisherman's Pie both were very nice. Was only on soft drinks as driving home, but the coffee was delicious and the alcohol selection looked decent. Meeting Crackers was also a bonus but I'm not sure our Beagle (it is fig friendly) agreed, he was rather bemused by Crackers noises.

My roast was cold. My husband had the fish pie. It was luke warm. It was very small he was left hungry tiny portion of peas on the side. Service poor. Waited an eternity. Didn't clear table afterwards. Asked for horseradish twice. Asked for dessert menu. They forgot. All in all not a great experience. Oh and cauliflower cheese. Had no cheese just a hot watery bright yellow sauce. With no flavour

Tried a few Sunday lunches in the area and this is by far the best around. Very reasonable prices, 2 courses for £20 ish, and we’ll worth it!! Massive plate of veg and everything was superb! Pub was reasonably busy with just 1 staff on. Tried their best but very slow. Food was awful. Shame the owners were not there with the warm and friendly welcome, pub had no ambience for a local, wont be going back.

Just had roast dinner with my mum and son, all agreed it was delicious! The meat was cooked to perfection and there was so much of it, only bad thing was none of us could finish as there was so much food! Staff very friendly and excellent service. Just popped in for a quick drink on our way home. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. Both my husband and I enjoyed the drinks we requested. Actually, my husband likes to drink at this pub as he can always be guaranteed a good pint of beer. We will back and would highly recommend this pub.

Awful, would not recommend this to anyone wanting a Sunday lunch. On entering the pub it looked like a nice old fashioned pub and seemed friendly. The issue was with the food. We ordered 2 roat dinners with mixed meat and it came out cold and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt. The portion was also poor with only 2 small vegtable portions, 3 very small slices of meat and 4 small potatoes. 1 of the meals was requested with no veg as they didn't have peas, this wasn't an issue but no extra potatoes or meat were added to make up. The table next to us also had Sunday lunch and it was steaming where it was so hot! Being hungry, we just decided to eat the food. When the waitress asked if all was OK, I replied that the food was cold and Yorkshire burnt. Her reply was an apology, plus offer of a free pudding. We accepted the offer and requested 2 Sticky Toffee puddings one with custard and one with ice cream. A few minutes later she returned and informed us that we now had to pay for one of the puddings! When I said no, she then asked if we still wanted one to share. Not sure if they planned to cut the free one in half and add a scoop of ice cream in one plate and custard in the other! What an absolute joke!

Great location, just tucked away. Good food, fantastic staff, not expensive, the atmosphere and vibe is very welcoming. There wasn't a single complete on the table. I'm looking forward to coming back again.
