Brilliant. We both had the seafood cocktail and the Bouillabaise with some scallops. It was all excellent. The sauce was deep and delicious. The scallops were served (as best) with their corals - it is such a waste when chefs cut them off. The service was excellent. The waiter was particularly helpful. Thanks to all.

The food was amazing, it was fast to come and the atmosphere was friendly and cheerful. Even got to witness a birthday celebration where the whole kitchen came to celebrate. We really enjoyed our time here and will be returning.

First time visit last night. Friendly greeting. Lovely staff. Was initially cold in there, but they promptly got some heating sorted & soon warmed up. We both had the most amazing chateaubriand that was beautifully cooked. Followed by a lovely sticky toffee pudding & ice cream. Can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Will definitely return when next in the area.

We went for lunch yesterday (Saturday) and ordered from their lunch menu. A nice variety of options and was very pleased with the steak and chips and apple, pear and blackberry crumble and ice cream. Service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Never had a bad meal here. They cook the best roast in Christchurch. All the food here is really great, child friendly, great wine selection. 100% recommend.

This is an excellent restaurant just on a corner with the main street in Christchurch. We have been in many times over the years when we have been staying in Christchurch and without exception, we have enjoyed our food and drink. We popped in on a Saturday lunchtime and had a light lunch of soup and toasted sandwich, all of which were spot on. The wines we had by the glass were excellent and reasonably priced. I'd recommend booking in the evenings because it is very popular. Service was really good, friendly and efficient. A good place to go for everything from a quick drink or coffee to a full on meal.

Wasn't keen. Half the menu Wasn't available so I only had one choice being pescatarian but what I had was ok.

Went for my son’s 30th for lunch, the food was fabulous especially my fillet steak. Everyone (there were 5 including me) really enjoyed their lunch. The staff were all so attentive and put on a special birthday celebration by singing and clapping. We will definitely be returning soon

Friendly welcome, but food was bland and uninspiring. We had tagliatelle which was not tagliatelle pasta and had no flavour at all. Would not return £65 for two mains 1 starter and two drinks

We love this restaurant and always eat here when we come down to Christchurch. We had an excellent roast dinner and were looking forward to eating here again whilst away but unfortunately they are closed Monday and Tuesday. We will have to wait until our next visit to have the delicious seafood linguine.

Lovely restaurant, food and service. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and the value for money. Fish and prawn curry was delicious and came with a free glass of Prosecco (Fizz and fish Friday). The staff were very friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit. We will come back often as I feel eating out in Christchurch has become very expensive in some places but Loch and Quay is still one of the few places that offers value for money.

Sunday Roast is Quay. We've eaten here many times and the L&Q team always deliver: Sunday Roast today was excellent, Monika is always helpful and friendly. 10 out of 10.

Average food, small portion sizes, steak undercooked, and zero vegetarian options for main meal. Won't be going back.

WOW, great food, great atmosphere, wonderful service. We sat outside for the warm evening and enjoyed the chilled music. The food was amazing. I enjoyed every bite.

I think this is a great spot for a very reasonably priced meal, especially if you choose the Steak and wine/ Mussels and wine day on Thursday or the Prosecco and Fish & chips on Friday. They do a nice afternoon tea if you want a quick afternoon nosh and offer a range of changing offers on a blackboard outside. Prices for their sandwiches and other more special offerings, cooked well, are exceptional. Food is superb, service is great. A bit dim inside for me but that's just me! If you're disappointed with the service and food I'll be very surprised. I highly recommend it. I'm local and it's good enough to eat on my limited budget every week. The steak is fab but I have it medium so it's subjective! Tell me if I'm wrong!

The food has always been consistently good and cooked freshly. They have specials which change and are on a board outside, some nice deals there. I like the Steak Thursday which is a steak and glass of wine with chips for £15 and the steak has always been tender for me or the alternative is Mussels in wine sauce and wine. They also do a Prosecco and Fish and chips on Friday which is also a good deal. They also do sandwiches and a wide range of other foods. Service is friendly, efficient and warm. It's a little dark decor inside but don't let that put you off. There is also an outside area if you like that Al Fresco feel or just want a drink. All in all, give it a go, I think you'll like it.

We went in on the off chance last Sunday as we heard a saxophonist playing. Asked for a table for 2 which was available, perfect spot. Service, food and ambience exceeded our expectations! 1 roast lamb and 1 roast beef.... deeeelicious! Hope to return soon with a larger party

An impromptu lunch - and wow what a lunch it was! The atmosphere is tasteful and welcoming. The staff attentive and friendly, but the food - wow! Honestly one of the best roast dinners my wife and I have eaten at a restaurant (we both had beef) and the desserts were equally delicious (cheese board & sticky toffee pudding)

7 of us visited for the first time today, having a mixture of roast dinners, fish and chips and burgers. The food was 10/10, really tasty, beautifully seasoned and showing care & attention to detail. The lady looking after us was very warm & friendly and attentive in spite of how busy it was. Would highly recommend and definitely a new favourite spot

Delicious haddock and chips, very nicely done and an excellent local cheese board. We were very happy to discover this clean spacious comfortable restaurant late on Saturday afternoon. It was busier in the evening so you would likely need to book at popular times. Friendly and efficient service. The meals were very quickly prepared to perfection. Draught Guinness and Estrella served. Low alcohol Heineken available. There is a service charge but you would definitely be happy to leave a tip.

This is my third year coming to Christchurch and my third year visiting Loch and Quay. Unfortunately are giving good reviews in previous years I am downgrading my scores this time for several reasons. Firstly the portion sizes on meals has shrunk noticeably this year. I always order the fillet steak which in previous years has been a larger cut but also with multiple onion rings and large mushrooms. This time I had a smaller cut, 1 onion ring and one tiny mushroom to go with my chips. Also asking £3 for peppercorn sauce is a rip off on top of a £28 meal. Secondly the noise level was enough for us to abandon desert and coffees due to a noisy table full of middle aged individuals who clearly knew the staff well. Not attempt was made by the staff to ask the group to be courteous and consider other diners. I feel it is the responsibility of the host to ensure the restaurant is comfortable dod all. Sadly we will not be attending again after visiting for 3 years. We left disappointed.

We dropped in for lunch last week on Friday. We had scoped out the high street looking for some fish and chips. After viewing the menu and having a quick peek inside, we were drawn in by the reasonable prices and open and welcoming ambience. We were lucky to choose this venue. The service was very good from the friendly waitress/proprietor, the food was really good, especially for the price. A very good beer battered fish and tasty chunky potato chips and a lovely side of homemade tartare sauce completed the meal. Surprisingly, there was a free glass or prosecco with the meal. We also ordered the ham and cheese toasty and tortelloni which were both very good too. Highly recommended.

Top quality food. Loved all our dishes would definetaly go back. There are a lot of places in that area to eat so it was quiet for a Friday night but it was nice. The quality of the food is really high. The staff were nice and friendly too which is the most important thing. You're paying a little more than your typical resturant here but I can confirm you get that back from the quality of the dishes.

Joanna was an excellent waitress who greeted and seated us with a lovely smile and service. We had a seafood platter that was beautifully displayed and would recommend!

Very disappointed, don’t have the steak which costs £30 it had so much gristle in it and was awful , to which we were then told they needed our table at 8 so we had to rush / leave our drinks . So the fact we then had a service charge added to bill was a bit of an insult ….. don’t think we will be back which is a shame as I have normally rated this place

Had a gorgeous roast here with my partner early Sunday lunch time. The staff, service, food and atmosphere were lovely and good quality, couldn’t fault it at all. We are looking forward to visiting again for sure. Thank you for providing such lovely food with great service!

Great environment, very well decorated. It has a very modern feel and the staff were accommodating and friendly. We went in between Christmas and New Year, where they were offering a special light lunch menu. The food was great quality and reasonably priced. I would definitely go again!

We went in for a Sunday roast at short notice and received a fantastic roast and friendly service! Super soft chicken, perfectly cooked veg and fresh yorkshire. One of the best roasts Ive had actually. Well done to the team and we will no doubt be returning soon.

A very cold night so we were delighted with the mulled wine offered. The food was pretty average and on the expensive side. The main downside for us was the volume of the singer on the night we went. Hard to hold a conversation even though we were at the table farthest from the singer. Don't get me wrong - he was brilliant but just too loud. We noticed people leaving and wondered whether they - like us - simply had to get out to save our ears!

Have eaten here many times, Sunday lunch, dinner, brunch etc food and service excellent but they are NOT dog friendly. On a cold, windy September day I could only manage a coffee (we really wanted lunch and drinks) if we sat outside as we had our dog (who is extremely well behaved) with us. Please rethink this policy. We are local and now we have our dog often walk into Christchurch and would like lunch and drinks. A large majority of people come into town with their dog and you are selling yourself short. Please rethink 🙏🙏🙏

Had a really lovely evening tonight. I ordered the Sri Lankan fish curry which was absolutely delicious! My partner ordered the fish linguine, both meals delicious! The service was excellent. While we were there a small party for a 50th birthday celebration we’re in and they played some music as they brought out the cake and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday. My only little gripe would be that the background music was a little too loud and the dessert menu was in my opinion overpriced ( we didn’t get one) otherwise a very enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend the curry!

Visited Christchurch and booked a table for four, bit disappointed the Web site shows view's of the river and surrounding area slightly gave the impression that's what you might see, no just the roundabout at the bottom of the high St bit of a dismal restaurant unfortunately, the food was very nice but not outstanding for the price, the service on the other hand was excellent, I would recommend this restaurant unless you want something a bit more special.

Second visit on a Thursday evening for a ladies get together. We were the only people in the restaurant. The food was cooked well but didn’t appreciate the 10% service charge automatically added to the bill

Booked online the night before visiting Christchurch for the first time. Very glad we discovered this little gem. Location was easy to find and plenty of parking nearby - the surrounding area was vibrant on a Saturday night and plenty of options for after meal drinks. Menu had options to suit both of us - one a fish lover and the other definitely not. Enjoyed a lovely Seabass with local Dorset clams plus an amazing fillet steak - both meals were really well presented and tasted delicious Only had room to share a dessert which was a light lemon cake with ice cream/cream, lemon curd, strawberries and almonds - beautiful and tasty. Staff were friendly and gave the right level of attention, not too overbearing but never had to wait too long to be able to order a drink. A 10% service charge was included, even on a meal for 2 which was unusual but well worth it. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

This resturant offers a good choice of family meals and for warm evenings has an outside seating area. There was a wide choice of staters although it was a main and desert that tempted me. I chose the new season ‘Romsey Lamb Cutlets’. Three cutlets seasoned well and served on a bed of Mediterranean style cracked bulgur wheat, Tahini & Yoghurt dressing, pickled pink onions and toasted almonds. This meal not only was presented well but was cooked to perfection. I washed it down with house Prosecco (available by the glass) and chose Vanilla Bean Ice Cream as a desert. The bill for my single cover was £36 which I felt represented very good value. There are no reservations in recommending Lock & Quay and I shall definitely return.

We first went to this restaurant about five years ago, and haven’t been back since. However we looked up restaurants that did steaks and this scored highly. To be honest the food was very good and the steak my wife said one of the best she had. It just seems an odd place. It’s in a great location but seems like a weird maybe it’s the music ( sounded like Romanian trance music😳) or the mid seventies disco decor.The staff not particularly friendly either, it has the general feeling of nobody’s that interested except for the chefs, It’s a real shame🤷🏻‍♂️ Maybe better going with a crowd of people so creating your own atmosphere

The Loch and Quay continues to surprise. From the outside it seems like a fairly standard burger and steak type restaurant but it is far more than this, with some interesting options on the menu (anything middle eastern/greek seems a strength, the fish and schips is very good) and a very. very able chef. Our latest visit here after some time away once again lived up to expectations, with really good food, especially the hummus and chicken kebab starters and the lamb cutlets. The wine list is well chosen and very failry priced and the reception/waiting staff are friendly, welcoming, hard-working and a model for other restaurants to aim towards.

I have been to Loch & Quay twice since I moved here from London 3 months ago and each time the delightful waitress, yes only one, is attentive, charming and lovey. She is an asset to the establishment. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. I am so pleased I found this gem in Christchurch.

Hey I promised the 5 star review its me Alex here's my review .It was stunning we were supposed to a snack and a drink and we ended up with 2 burgers, sea food board,3 calamari, a bowl of mule and more its the best food I ever ate I was totally fully and there were 6 people absolutely stunning

We had an excellent meal here! In particular the main of fillet steak was cooked to perfection! The Sri Lankan fish curry was particularly good! A lovely selection of fish and shellfish with authentic fresh ingredients, including kaffir lime leaves. Beautifully presented. I’ve had a similar dish when we dined at Rick Stein in Sandbanks (particularly disappointing - 2 prawns, 1 mussel 1 piece of fish!) & The Ivy Restaurant also, this far exceeded both in expectation! The waitress was welcoming & friendly. Knowledgeable & helpful when asked about wines. Even offering a taster to try. The restaurant has a lovely ambience,is contemporary with a great vibe. Would definitely dine here again!

Popped out for the day found this restaurant after checking 10 other menus ,food and service was great ,I’ve been a veggi since the 1980,s never tasted tagliatelle that good 😀 many thanks , everyone go and eat there

I can not fault this restaurant whatsoever. Had prawns to start with and were fully prepped prior to cooking and the mushrooms where amazing. Steak cooked perfectly and seafood curry was so tasty. Churros for desert (shared), but wow they were the best cinnamon churros we have had. Food presented amazingly, piping hot and quick service. Although we were asked if we wanted a break between courses. 100% recommend had a fabulous meal.

We dropped into Christchurch for a look around and saw the restaurant had availability for two and being Father’s Day we decided to eat, both our meals were excellent and well presented, the gentleman taking the orders was very efficient and attentive, it was a hot day and the young chef we could see was so busy, we actually bought a drink for him as a thank you. Loch & Quay restaurant well done and highly recommended

We were a little unsure as the menu was not very big…… However…….. the service was excellent, very attentive and quick! I had the calamari and seafood linguine. Both were amazing. Perfectly cooked and freshly made. We will definitely be coming back. Keep up the good work!

My friend recommended the breakfast here so while passing we approached a blonde waitress who was cleaning outside and asked her the price of the breakfast. She was abrupt and extremely rude to my friend, looking down on us as if we were peasants who couldn’t afford to eat there. She snapped “we don’t do breakfast” and laughed at us. My friend said “yes you do I had it here before” to which the waitress replied “well we don’t anymore” then carried on cleaning dismissing us. I had a feeling they were just turning us away because we weren’t dressed in Versace.

Mother’s Day lunch for three of us. food was excellent could not fault on anything, perfect portions and so tasty. Their chef is top class. Waiting staff were so professional and could not do enough. We can’t wait to come back .

What can I say, it was our first time visiting Christ church in Dorset, reservation at Loch &Quay was booked ahead of time. Overall we had a great time. A bit small, but the ambience and service were amazing. My Partner had the Tagliatelle Ariabiatta. It was very tasty. Although it was expected to be extra spicy, that wasn't the case. The beef burger was the best I've had. We will definitely be coming back.

Took my partner on a lovely date.. From start to finish - everything was so very good. The staff, the owner was especially welcoming, the food (seafood sharer and fillet steak, best steak I’ve had for years!) I loved that they had Shanty seaweed botanical vodka on their menu. I highly recommend this wonderfully run restaurant! The ambience was perfect and atmosphere was the right level. 10/10. Too good to miss.

We decided to get away for Christmas and booked a hotel in Christchurch,my wife suggested we try to get a table at the Lock& Quay for a Christmas Eve meal before midnight mass at the priory,they phoned us the week before to confirm our booking...

3 covers for a birthday, 2 had Ribeye 1 Fillet, all cooked perfectly by Dan. Served by Becca. There was a lovely surprise of a little birthday treat for afters. A bit quiet but it was Xmas eve eve. Will definitely be back.
