Cattlemans Steakhouse at The Parkers Arms in Torbay

Staff were friendly when I visited but on Facebook it seems they aren't so friendly. Apparently we aren't allowed an opinion and they continuously delete bad reviews. Lovely place absolutely appalling food.

Bar service is a bit slow but everything else is great. I had an awesome mixed grill the other day. The steak was 8oz and perfect.

Excellent food at a great value. We recommend the tomahawk between two. Good quality steak. Friendly staff. Only downside was, when busy, there wasn't enough staff to clear our table. After 20 mins, and still no table clearance, we decided to forgo desserts and more drinks, opting to pay on exiting and go back to our holiday park instead, which was a shame. Good parking facilities. Easy to book online.

One of the finest evenings of my life, some of the best food I’ve had in my mouth. Sparkling company, the hats were hilarious and the cheese was delicious

Love this place. Great selection of food for meat eaters and, surprisingly, vegetarians too. Allows dogs and even does a 'doggy dinner' menu. My pup's favourite day out.

Meal was very average noting really stood out for me. The server forgot to put in our order to the kitchen correctly and this caused my partner to have to eat after the rest of us. The server was sorry about this and did offer us a free drink of coke to make up for it. I wouldn’t normally write a bad review but later on when checking the bill randomly I was shocked to see that we had been charged for this drink! More then likely will no be returning anytime soon! High price for bad service ……. I’ll go somewhere else.

Amazing steak house! The steak is seared to start and you can cook it how you like on a hot stone. Great experience. Our server Richard was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Parking on site. I would suggest you book a table as it was very busy. Highly recommend!

Tonight we paid 170 pounds for 3 adults and 2 children. We booked a table for 5, well in advance for 1800, we ordered simple, on menu food of steak on a stone by 1810, an hour later the blued steaks arrived at 1910. Just 20 mins later at 1930 we were told to hurry up as our table was booked for 2000! We didn't have a chance to order desert or further drinks. We were disapointed in the lack of hospitality and felt it would have been better going to a maccies drive through despite how nice the food was.

Fantastic steaks and brilliant staff! The steaks were seared before being served on a hot stone so you can cook it to exactly how you like it and the flavour in the meat was great. The staff are really friendly and make sure that you have everything without being overly pushy like you find in some places. The prices were also very reasonable. Will definitely be visiting again!

Great steak served on hot stone (volcanic) cook to how you want it to be your self . Services is little slow . But was ok to wait between next meal .. Don't have the chicken wings ,they are really not that nice , big mistake buying them , otherwise the rest was good

Website photos completely misleading. To start when you walk up the stairs and go into the room it stank of old, putrid smoke which was already off putting. Not to mention the bucket full of cigarette ends at the entrance to the rooms. The small towels they provide were grey which after reading other reviews makes sense as they use those so they don't have to get rid of stains. ew. Went to open the second drawer down and the knob fell off with the lightest touch and the drawer pretty much collapsed. The walls were cracked and the bed was so springy just to even sit on. Lovely blonde girl showed us the room and looked embarrassed to open the door. If you get the family room be warned it is not an ensuite and you will need to walk through a musty hallway to get to the bathroom and a separate loo. No charge ports next to beds either. We thought to ask for a refund and approached the blonde woman who was very kind and understanding about the whole situation. She is this place's shining light. The manager who came to speak to us came up already hostile and it was like he already knew what we were going to say. Very telling. If you're looking for somewhere just to shack up for the night, take your chances, but if you want any form of cleanliness - there's a Travelodge just up the road for a fraction of the price and miles better. Was going to stay for the food as the restaurant area had a nice ambience and smelt like great food, but after speaking to the rude landlord we decided to leave.

I booked a room to stay with my girlfriend for our anniversary as it was recommended by a friend. I think he was blind deaf and nose blind when he stayed here. We were promised a double room with an en-suite. We got a family room with a private bathroom that wasn’t attached to the room. I say private, but anybody on the same floor as us can just walk into the bathroom. The stench of the putrid room actually made us feel sick. The paint was coming off the walls. The bed wasn’t comfy and seemed unwashed. The towels were more like flannels and a dark colour to try and hide the stains they were riddled with. The drawer was barely put together and the knobs fell off the bracket. The rooms smelt like something had died and someone had smoked a whole pack of cigarettes to mask the stench. The photos were very misleading. There was a nice blonde girl that showed us to our room and once I came down saying that me and my girlfriend were not willing to stay she kindly said that it wasn’t a problem and a refund was a possibility. She went and got what I assume was the landlord and he came up to us both in a confrontational manor. I explained that we were promised a private bathroom and that the room was not up to scratch. He tried to assure us that it was private and the room was ok. I said that we didn’t want to stay due to the state of the room and that we wanted a refund. He said due to the fact that we booked through booking.com, he couldn’t issue a refund. We ended up leaving before we could even get our bags out the car and found a travelodge. I would have rather slept in my car then spend another minute In that place. Do not book here unless you want a disappointing stay.

Very poor from the moment we checked in and realised id made a big mistake 1stly a shared bathroom and toilet. The bathroom had the window wedged open and only a blind between you and the fire escape entrance, why ? It was freaky. Then door looks that barely worked. The door looked like the locks had been kicked off several times. Decor and furnished in the 70's sure it'll come back into fashion at some point. Tbh nearly booked straight back out. Could've and should've stayed at the travelodge in Paignton for similar money. Please think twice before booking. Second worst place ive ever stayed in and thats saying something

I'm a bit of a foodie and thought this place maybe a bit gimmicky and poor quality, but the steak and sides were all top notch! There were 15 of us and no-one had a bad word to say! Not bad value, friendly service, we're already planning a return visit!!

The first time I've had to pay to cook my own steak whilst going out for a meal, there is definitely no cost of living food crisis here! absolutely packed, it's well worth it though, the food and atmosphere is a great experience, the mixed grills are the best if you just want to tuck straight in, steaks come out on a hot stone so you can cook your steak as you want it, a bit skimpy on the sides even though you pay for these separately, all in all one of the best steakhouses I've been to. Definitely will go again after I've saved up for a while. Between £40 to £50 per head during our visit.

The £5.95 meal on a Thursday is brilliant lots to choose from. I asked last week if I could have a meal as a takeaway for my elderly mother staff were so friendly and helpful. Had fish and chips last week and curry this week she’s thoroughly enjoyed both. 👍

I'm not too sure where to start. Orders taken incorrectly, not getting dessert at all or the waiting time for meals to come out. No apology. I think the blonde young waitress that was serving us needs some training.

I'm not sure this is flagged as a hotel by Google as it's more of a food and drink place.

The pub was really busy on the night we visited. The smoke drifted from the kitchen into the bar area from where the steaks were being cooked. The steak was excellent, tender & tasty. Puddings were well portioned. The staff were excellent, engaging & helpful. There are also food challenges, which you have to give prior notice to have one. The pub bedrooms were clean but not very soundproof. There is a galvanised stairway up to the rooms and a couple of steps to negotiate in the hallway. If you have any mobility problems, it may be an issue?

We booked for my sons 20th as he loves Steak. There was plenty of parking, easy to find. We received a very jolly and warm welcome for our party. The service was friendly and excellent and the food exceptional. The best steak! I highly recommend this for any steak lovers, my son had a great time, thank you!

Absolutely great place, perfect selection of steaks to have, puddings are very good. I followed this restaurant on facebook, which made me have to try it out. Didnt disappoint at all. Staff were very efficient, friendly and accommodating. Service is also great, atmosphere very good. Would advise if taking pushchairs to put in extra section when booking so the staff can find table with space for them, i forgot to but they sorted space for us no trouble. Lovely evening will definatley be returning. I have returned and had the Tomahawk to share, the service was still great and food is great!

The hospitality and service has been nothing but 7stars for me! The food is up there and the steak is just mouth watering and so tender and easy to cut! I would 100% recommend this place to anyone that is visiting Paignton and also the amount of food challenges there is and fun this place actually is it’s mind blowing!! Won’t be going back!! Decided to stop overnight and was looking forward to something to eat after nearly driving 500 miles! Got checked in at the bar and was shown to our rooms upstairs, on entry to the rooms we were told not sure which room it is but you haven’t got a toilet (I booked both rooms with private bathroom) I looked puzzled and was told you would have to use the toilet at the end of the hallway! I rushed into my room hoping it was my mates room but we both had a toilet! We then decided to try the food in the restaurant as it smelt really good, no room in restaurant so back to the bar. No room in the bar as a food challenge was about to start so ordered our food and told them we was outside. After an hour of waiting the food finally arrived, was told we would get you some cutlery It never arrived! We couldn’t wait any longer so stated to eat some luke warm fries, I popped my head into the restaurant but it was heaving so headed back to the food. Took a bite out of my chargrilled chicken burger and nearly broke a tooth, it was burnt black underneath. Nipped back into the bar to report the issue and was told by the bar staff ‘you will have to wait a while’ Spoke to the bar staff after waiting a while and was told manager would come out. Finally the manager come outside and agreed she would reimburse me for the meal. Waited 30 mins for her to return but no sign of her! Decided to call it a night and was hoping to see someone in morning but no one to be seen So still no refund received and would not recommend at all. Also didn’t sleep all night as windows were thin and loads of traffic noise. Over a week now and still no reply!! Still no reply a month later 😢 💤

If you want a decent steak or burger, then this... Cook your own steak how you like it on a hot stone. Any size from 8oz up to all the 200oz. The service is great as well. There were 10 of us and these guys did not miss a thing. If you get the chance to go here book a table and wear loose pants. 5⭐️ all the way.

Loved this restaurant. You get to cook your own steak on a piece of volcanic rock . The steak was lovely, and it was fun to try . The staff are really kind and friendly .

Absolutely lovely staff. Great food. Even the customers are welcoming that it felt like a holiday. I heard it was expensive but the prices are very reasonable. It's easily an average restaurant price, but the steaks are way more high-end, making it a fantastic high-end restaurant without the cost. Couple that with a beer garden and childrens playground which you just can't get anymore and it just takes me back 25 years to when pubs were much more family based. 100 percent will be back

Food was beautiful, although a little pricey. Sat us at a table which right by a door that they needed to keep getting into which was slightly annoying because I had to keep getting up! Meat was perfect on my mixed grill, misses wasn't to impressed with having to cook her own on a hot plate but her own fault for not reading the menu properly... Staff were very polite and welcoming! Would recommend!

Big steaks on hot stones. They do other stuff too, like burgers and chicken. Maybe even salads, but we've never looked past the big steaks on hot stones.

The food was excellent the best we have eaten in a long, long time ( ribeye steak and a vegetable lasagne), the staff were very polite and friendly, would definitely recommend and we will be back.

If you like steak/ribs/burgers this is the place to go. Excellent selection of meat and everything we had was really tender and delicious. Steaks are delivered on a hot stone and you finish cooking it at the table exactly how you like to eat it. Really friendly staff who'll sing happy birthday to you if you're celebrating and you get to wear a Stetson and they'll take a picture for you. Large portions and a few challenges to try which are free if you complete them but good luck with that.. Tables outside if you prefer al fresco eating.Large free car park at the rear. Disabled access. I would advise booking especially at peak times.

Amazing food and service. Young lass that served us was genuinely nice and wasn't rushing off even at a busy time. One of the best steaks we've ever had. Came from north Dorset just for the food.

Went there today at lunch ,chips and onion rings so overcooked and dry , has gone down as far as I am concerned so not worth money and they weren't, t even busy last time we will go there

I had high hopes for this but it fell short of the mark.

Didn't stay in the room but came for dinner with 7 friends. Leanne is an amazing waitress and did everything to ensure we had a great time. Hopefully, she got the tip as she was on a break when we left. Overall all the staff were great. I had the beef brisket, which I recommend the only downside for me was the sweet potato fries were overcooked and greasy. My friends got a variety of steaks which you could make to order yourself on the stone at the table. All steaks were good except my husbands, which was bland, but I feel this was a one-off. The sides were all a bit bland unfortunately chips were not great.

Been twice now and each time the steaks were tender, tasty and juicy, couldn’t recommend a better steakhouse

Delicious food. . Probably the best steak I have eaten. Love the novel way it's served, on a hot stone. Keeps the meat hot and means it's cooked just to your liking. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend going here.

Great eating experience and the quality thick steaks are excellent! We shared a 34oz sharing tomahawk steak for £49.50 (£45.50 for one person). It was very thick and big and came out on hot stones. We cut lovely slices off and cooked them on the stones. Would visit again and our go to choice for quality steaks.

We travelled a long way to get to this place after seeing amazing reviews and social media content. Whether we visited at the wrong time or just didn't order the right items, the food was no better or worse than venues much closer to home. Service was excellent and generally good menu, but disappointed versus the hype on social.

Stayed 1 night in accommodation above pub. More of a (popular)restaurant than pub. Booked double en suite. Good check in. Basic, simple furnishings and bathroom. TV and kettle in room. Just 2 bath towels, no hand towel or towel for hair. Tiny toiletries provided. Located on busy, noisy, main road. Plenty of parking. Good location for Paignton. Odour and smoke from steakhouse cooking in the bar. Ok for 1 night, budget cost, bring ear plugs. Room would be super hot in summer.

We were so looking forward to returning here a year on from when we first came but the food has really gone down hill. Husband had the mixed grill and that's where the problems began, when you pay £35 you don't expect economy sausages - we are in an area surrounded by farmland and beautiful produce, frozen onion rings - last year they were freshly made, frozen dry chicken breast and limp salad. I ordered the porterhouse steak which was lovely and couldn't be faulted but once again it was let down by its sides, once again frozen onion rings and chips that felt like they had sat in the hotplate for too long also I did order the chunky chips but ended up with the fries. We were asked if we enjoyed our food by a waiting staff cleaning down the table my husband showed him the limp salad and asked if he would eat it and he said no. After the meal I went and paid, I overheard the waiter from the other table telling the other staff we had been complaining then when he saw me he stopped what he was saying and said I'll tell you later laughing. After payment another staff member asked if we had enjoyed the food I was polite and said no not really and explained how excited we had been to come back but felt really disappointed he went straight to the manager and told me to wait, he was very apologetic and very kind we didn't expect anything but he got us a 25% discount for our next visit because we had already paid so nothing could be done about our bill but sadly we won't be returning £90 is a lot of money for drinks and economy budget food that we would happily pay for a good quality meal.

I did the 3.2 kilo challenge and succeeded. Instead of paying me £100 as promised, Cattlemans Steakhouse made ME pay THEM for both the food and for laying a fat one in their toilet after the 3.2 kilo meal. This restaurant sucks. Also, the toilet sucks.

Visiting from Rotherham this is one of the best steaks I have had in a looooong time, good price plenty of room and extremely welcoming, even offer a doggy menu with a doggy mixed grill, see photo! Wish we lived closer xx

What a cracking pub, we needed a stopover for the night in our motorhome and came across Cattleman's steakhouse, I phoned up about 6pm and spoke to a man who we found out to be a guy called Cookie once we got there, great welcoming really friendly we originally was just going to pop in for a few beers but! The smell of the food was fantastic so we ended up having food which I would definitely recommend, would we go back definitely yes so thanks Cookie and to all the staff we had a great night.

Taken the family out for a nice meal and wow what an absolute disgrace. I had ordered the mega mix grill when it came out it looked terrible, chip shop sausages and no garlic bread, the lamb was just bone and fat the chicken was alright to be honest, onion rings was the cheap cheap ones and for £35 I definitely expected way better for that sort of price point. When I completed I was told the manager was going to take some money off and when I spoken to her she was definitely full of herself and told me she had gave a generous 10% off me meal (£3.50) I think that was a joke and she said well it's a very generous amount really. I would stay well away if you are looking for a nice place. Also needs a good revamp in there as it's not the nicest of places with them price's I expected way way better. (We even had 2 different families walk out as we was coming in saying to run and leave but we had to try it our self's and I wish we had listened) disgrace

As the name states, it's geared up for steaks. The steaks are fine, they're not the absolute best but they are far from the worst. They've presented in a rather quirky way, on a 'volcanic' stone. Basically the steak comes out partly cooked and you cook the rest of it on the stone. I think this is probably better suited to a Chinese hot pot restaurant, but for a steak house, well no. The sides are a major disappointment. Thin runny, tasteless sauce, very undercooked and underseasoned garlic mushrooms. Over cooked garlic bread that defied cutting. Corn that looked like it had been hanging around for quite some time. Onion rings, chilli poppers etc are all frozen. As I said, it's OK, but none of us want to return.

We had a lovely meal here for my daughter’s 21st Birthday. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time and the food was delicious 😋

Changed booking last minute and they were very accomodating without any hassle. Service was amazing gotta say leanness was fantastic nothing too much trouble a credit to the business, food was pricey but the idea was novel and interesting, sides served with steak were cooked perfectly, tho would av liked Stilton sauce to be a bit more cheesy. Would reccomend the restaurant to anyone for the experience, yee haa
