I have a hot chocolate with chillit quite regularly and shop for snacks and fresh fruit and veg, aswell as organic staples but our church is going for ECO church status, so we'll be doing a bit more on the refillable cleansing things I think soon.

This was our second visit to this health store as we found it 2 years ago whilst holidaying in Devon. The owners are friendly & helpful & the shop seems to carry a wide variety of food & health items. There is a little cafe at the back of the shop where we sat & had a coffee. They make great cakes & biscuits all great for a gluten & dairy free diet. Worth the visit.

Rainy Friday lunch time, lucky find in main shopping street in Brixham. Good selection of interesting and tasty salads. We chose the summer special pitta stuffed with falafel and hummus. Excellent. They have inside and pavement seating and do takeaway.

We had lunch here because I noticed they did vegetarian and vegan options. Although there were only 4 tables outside this suited us because of how hot it was. I ordered 2 organic salad platters, one with Brie & Cheddar for my partner (meat eater) and one with hummus for myself. According to the menu it states "Vg" which means vegan at the top of menu. So technically both meals should be vegan. We enjoyed the lunch platters and I went inside the shop to pay. When asked if the butter that came with the bread on our meals was vegan, I was horrified to be told it wasn't. It's dairy! I pointed out to her of the ambiguity of the menu labelling and she tried to blame the error on another member of staff (partner?) for miscommunication. Including tea (rather "milky" I thought it could be dairy), it cost £16.50. The woman actually thought that discounting £1.50 from the bill would redeem herself. I was very disappointed and sick to my stomach that someone spiked my food. It was a good job I wasn't allergic to dairy too. They need to revise their menu because who knows someone has been through this before I noticed. I tweeted what happened to The Vegan Society and hopefully everyone will be made aware of the lack of attention in planning for vegans like myself.

This appears to be a health store that carries an excellent range of natural and organic foods as well as eco friendly detergents etc. The coffee bit seems to be a sideline, with homemade cake and excellent, freshly made coffee.

I booked a birthday celebratory lunch at Oats. Sally was amazingly helpful. We all had homemade soup with homemade bread. Generous portion size, tasty and hot. Then Sally bought out the birthday cake. It was huge and so beautiful - lots of cream and raspberries. Now Oats is in new premises on Fore Street it had a café area at the front of the shop and a bigger area at the rear. We took over this space. Everything was clean, bright and welcoming. The atmosphere was fun as we celebrated the birthdays of two of our party. Alan and Sally could not have been more helpful. Thank you.

We popped into Oats while wandering around Brixham. They have a large selection of fair trade, vegan and gluten free produce on the shelves. They also have a small seated area where you can have something to eat and drink. We didn't eat this time round but I had an excellent cup of coffee. The staff were lovely too.

We called into this lovely little health food store, which had a board outside advertising soup and sandwiches. We sat at a table in the window and had tasty home made soup and delicious bread, plus an excellent cup of coffee. Highly recommended.

Bought sandwiches twice whilst on a short break in Brixham recently...went expecting a cafe - but changes had taken place....the cafe as such is no more... but there are seats and tables out back in the garden and room for two or three people to sit for drinks in the shop window. Great place to get a sandwich to take away, I think there was soup and cakes available as well, all freshly made, organic, wholefood. Reasonably priced and good quality. Friendly owners, nice to talk to. There's also a wholefood shop with organic veg. great bread. etc. etc.

Cafe at the back of the health food store... Really welcoming owners and a lovely selection of salad plates, toasted sandwiches and cakes suitable for dairy-free, gluten free and some vegan. Small indoor seating area but outdoor tables if weather good enough. Excellent free wifi, great coffee and general good vibe!

This vegan cafe is brilliant. For a start it has lots of gluten free options, which pleased my husband. We both had a toasted sandwich, with a choice of several fillings. I then had the tiramisu, which was sugar free, made with dates and cashew nuts, and tasted amazing. The shop is really good as well, selling a great variety of organic/vegan ingredients.

When you step in beyond the beautifully stocked health-food shop, you find yourself inside a clean, fresh and spacious cafe area with a mix of hard pine tables and sofas. I would like to say this is a great place to hang out - I went there with my little boy and we had coffee and cake. They are not affiliated with a coffee roaster, so in a sense they, are a freehouse - the coffee they were using was Grumpy Mule (which is a wonderful organic coffee). I think virtually everything they stock is organic, although they do not make a big deal of this. The service is friendly and informative. This is a great place to come, if you want a nice, calm, relaxing drink and salad with friends or alone. I really promote businesses who operate in such a manner.....Thank you for existing....

If you shop regularly, they will order in requests for you. Thank goodness we have one store that understands the purpose of healthy living. Thank You.

I am a regular customer at Oats. I return again and again as I am so satisfied with the pleasant atmosphere and the friendly, helpful and attentive service. I love the wonderful selection of organic, ethical and strictly vegetarian/vegan food items, everything you could need for a healthy diet! There are also lots of herbs and spices, fresh baked speciality breads, Riverford Farm dairy produce and fresh fruits and vegetables as well as a range of ethical soaps, natural herbal skin and beauty care, health items, household essentials and much more! The cafe is cosy and relaxed with a great selection of home baked, wholesome meals and snacks, teas and cakes. Oats is an honest, family run, fair trade shop and cafe where you will always feel welcome!

The café area is at the rear of the health food shop and the limitations on space make the seating rather cramped. The display of pottery along the wall adds to the interest but makes the area border on the untidy. Most would probably like the cafe and would think of it as being homely. As for the food, it is good and wholesome, and served with substantial helpings. The staff --- numbering only two --- were efficient and friendly. Overall, worth a visit.

I love that when you have a tea at this Café it is served in a beautiful cup and teapot. Appetizing freshly prepared homemade healthy food. It is not often you can have a healthy cake! A huge range of teas are available. The prices are very reasonable given much of the food is organic and Fairtrade whenever possible. For any who is vegan or has to eat gluten free food then this is the place for you. I would highly recommend the cafe and store. I am fortunate enough to live In Brixham so I can go there whenever I want.

This is a Health Store. Why then was the toilet so stained and with peeling paint falling from the tin roof? Why was a muddy dog sitting on the upholstered bench seats with his front paws on the table? The soup was very nice but I'm afraid the bread was so dry that it was virtually inedible and the butter so cold and hard that it was impossible to spread.I'm afraid we will not be back and would not recommend it to anyone else.A real shame as the health shop was good. The young man serving in the shop was polite and helpful but we didn't feel very welcome in the cafe.

Sally and her husband Alan run an amazing health food store and cafe serving homemade healthy food - the prices are very reasonable too. I only had a vegan brownie and tea so can't comment on the meals but the cake was lovely and the tea was served in a beautiful cup and teapot. Only really sorry to report that I broke the cup. Very sad :( I would highly recommend the cafe and store.

We like to find small tea shops away from the popular touristy parts of towns we visit, and finding Oats in Brixham was our lucky day. On a very hot afternoon, we found Oats tucked away in Cavern Street and entered a small haven of tranquility. The cafe is situated at the far end of the health shop. The sofas were so comfortable, we could have stayed there all afternoon. Chilled dandelion and burdock was so refreshing and we couldn't resist a toasted tea cake, crammed full of fruit. My wife was totally absorbed reading one of the many health books available. and it was with regret that we left. After walking around Brixham for another hour or so, we decided to return for a refreshing cup of tea. At the rear of the shop is a secluded garden with tables and sun shades, a real sun trap. We would highly recommend anyone wanting something a little different to visit Oats, you will not be disappointed. .

Delicious freshly prepared food from home made soups to a lovely range of vegetarian and vegan sandwiches made to order, cakes and snacks. Tea, decent coffee and herb teas with the option of soya milk too. A delightfully relaxed and homely feel, friendly welcome and when the weather is nice the outdoor courtyard garden is blissful, full of tubs and pots of herbs and plants. Definitely worth a visit.

The coffee was lovely. The staff were lovely, but in this day and age skinny milk should be offered let’s face it even if they waste some of it a 4 pinter won’t cost them much. Both myself and my sister wanted skinny milk only semi skimmed was offered. It’s like going back in time. we really liked it here, but I don’t understand why more choices of milk weren’t offered.

EXCELLENT COFFEE & BISCUIT WITH THE COFFEE, so nice we stayed for two cups!! Very dog friendly staff made lots of fuss of our dog as did other customers coming in making a fuss of him. TREATS AVAILABLE FOR DOGS TOO which was a lovely thought and deserving of business. BEING NEW TO THE AREA AND HAVING BEEN TURNED AWAY FROM OTHER NOT AS NICE CAFES NOT DOG FRIENDLY it was nice to find a genuine dog friendly cafe. There is a step into the cafe which makes it inaccessible for disabled people and unsure if there is a portable ramp, didnt see a sticker on window saying there is one available? Something that can be addressed and advertised on website by owner which would allow us to come back with other members of our family and Im sure bring in other customers/tourists looking for accessible cafes.

Nice relaxed atmosphere, with good choice of food. A group of 6 of us had a range of choices to eat, with wine and pretty good standard overall. Personally, I found the jerk chicken little more than a chargrilled chicken bread, with no authentic jerk heat, but with the rice etc, it was a nice meal. Just not what I had hoped. The other 5 were happy with there choices though, the salmon getting particular praise.
