Amazing pub. Cannot fault the food or service in any way, good range of drinks, would really recommend. Came in here several time over our holiday.

Popped in for lunch with 3 adults and 2 picky kids. The food was super tasty and we cleared our plates. The service was great and welcoming. A proper pub far outweighing the average. Going back again before we leave and 100% recommend.

First night of our family break and visited The Birdcage. Service extremely slow, meals arrived… gammon (small)/2xeggs/6 chips and a fork full of mushy peas, same with the other meals.

Went for dinner with my family. Service was brilliant so friendly. The pie was a bit on the small size but was very tasty. Would definitely recommend this place to you.

My partner and I arrived at The Birdcage on Saturday night around 11:30 pm. We were enjoying a drink and having a pleasant chat with the bartender, who was friendly and seemed to like us. Out of nowhere, a manager—who wasn’t even on shift—approached us and accused us of being rude to the bartender. This was far from the truth, as the bartender had no issue with us. The manager then proceeded to judge us, going so far as to call my partner "trash" and implying that people like us didn’t belong there. I calmly told her that her comment was out of line, but she still asked us to leave. As we left, the bartender, who we'd supposedly offended, said goodbye to us, which further proved there was no issue. As a business owner, I was shocked by this manager’s unprofessionalism and rude behavior. Her attitude was completely inappropriate, especially for someone in a position meant to ensure customers have a good time. I suspect this is not the first complaint against her, given her judgmental demeanor. This kind of experience is a real mood killer and not what you expect when going out to enjoy yourself

Went for Sunday lunch with family. Wasn’t overly busy when we arrived but took an hour for our food to arrive. Portion size was very small, adult plate wasnt any larger than the child’s portion. Very disappointing

Very kindly put the football on especially for us on a Tuesday night. We didn't eat here but all the staff were lovely during our evening watching Birmingham City get beat. It's ok, we're used to it. Lovely pub!

First time visiting Brixham we chose this pub as it was dog friendly and looked nice inside. Staff were lovely and polite. Issue we faced was the food the portion sizes were small for the price and the food was cheaper quality. The sausage and mash was the only meal that was a perfect portion size but a microwaved mash and 3 freezer sausages with not much flavour. The loaded fries were tiny with the smallest toppings, the scampi and chips was also small with there only being around 10-15 chips with a small pot of mushy peas and a few scampi bites. The roast dinner was tasty but for 14.99 expected it to be a full roast with some more veg. Wouldn’t recommend if you want value and quality out of your meal.

Sunday lunch - roast chicken dinner and a pint. Perfect. Do yourself a favour, avoid the crowds around the harbour and pay this pub a visit. Friendly staff and great food and drink.

I came here 2 years ago for a Sunday roast with my family, it was one of the best roasts I’d ever had in a pub. We returned recently looking forward to trying the roast again and it was completely different. Everything was very basic, every element felt like it was lacking something. There was hardly any seasoning. I just felt like I could have had a better roast if I cooked it at home. The staff were very friendly and kind and prices were reasonable.

We went for lunch today as it was our wedding anniversary and we stayed there on our honeymoon when it was the Bolton hotel, although the food was very nice the student that served us couldn’t have been any ruder or less interested in the customer service !!

Just got back from Brixham we ate twice in the birdcage lovely food friendly staff and so dog friendly our dog Skye loved it would definitely return

I don't know who these people who put 5 star reviews are but they certainly don't go in there at night because all you have in there are the dregs of Brixham not a nice place to be.

Called in on Sunday on the off chance for a roast dinner.... Wow what a beautiful dinner it was, a big thanks to the landlady for squeezing us in

ordered food to be left waiting 40mins,ended up leaving without eating, so had less time in Brixham before the boat went back to Torquay thanks guys not.

Brilliant traditional pub that provided us with a marvellous Sunday lunch. Hadn't booked but still managed to find us a table, on Father's Day. Service is superb, very welcoming of us and our dog, and the food was top quality.

City centre pub, not far from the Marina. Lovely place but no on site parking, very clean and tidy and Stevie (landlady) was very welcoming and friendly. 👍

Went here on Tuesday 14 th may with my dad I had Coke Zero which I thought was dear and my dad had Braxton ipa at 5 80 daylight robbery don’t you think won’t be coming again

I have to be honest as a reviewer on google. I first of ordered a pint and my grandad ordered a coffee. I managed to drink my pint whilst my grandad was still waiting for a coffee. I'm terribly annoyed at how long this took and I even went for a cigarette as he was still waiting for his coffee. He then asked for a refund which I didn't know about till he told me and then found out they had to check with the kitchen staff until they could refund him. This to me is bad customer service and to wait so long and have an excuse of having to wait for a coffee machine to heat up is terrible when a kettle can boil within 5 mins. I also have to say they charge 3.20 for a coffee as well which is a rip off and also to wait so long Is ridiculous. This was on pirate festival and should of been name a rip off festival and not to mention we shall not be returning and would advice people far and wide not to attent unless u want to spend a fortune on chappy food and terrible service. The whole of brixham want to be ashamed of themselves.

Called in on the off chance as we noticed they did Sunday roasts. We ordered some drinks and 2 x chicken roast dinners. I was informed that their was a wait of 30 to 40 mins but it was on our table in about 30 mins and was worth the wait..all fresh veg and a Yorkshire pudding and stuffing with roast tattys and abit of mash. Plenty of chicken on the bone * two pieces* so certainly filled us up. Very friendly staff and the service was spot on...Would deffo call in again and try something different as other reviews recommend some other choices. Glad we took the chance.

We had a Sunday roast here and it was great. The pub is under new management and it is definitely benefiting from this. Our portions were generous there was 5 different veg on the plate and that was without the roast and mashed spuds! The Merlot that accompanied the meal was of a good quality and reasonably priced. The sticky toffee pud to finish almost finished me off. Lushalicious! Thanks to Stevie and her team for giving us a super dining experience. 👍🏼

Went based on previous reviews. We were greeted in a really friendly way but the place was very quiet and we were a bit unsure at first but the food was extremely good. I had the chicken burger and my daughter had the beefburger, both were some of the best we have had. We visited out of season so that would explain why it was empty, I'm sure in season the atmosphere would be much better.

Popped in here one evening for our tea about 7pm we asked if still serving food the answer was yes. So we ordered. I had Ham egg and chips my husband had the steak pie and mash. Both meals were very nice and the service was good. Plus the Bird cage is dog friendly. Will certainly go back next time in Brixham.

After struggling to find a gluten free accommodating restaurant, we took my parents hear for a meal out for their 50th wedding anniversary. All staff were so friendly and had a brilliant understanding of gluten allergies. The majority of the items on the menu were either gluten free or could provide GF alternatives. Allowed us to bring in some decorations and a cake! Will come back again!!

Popped in while shopping in town. We were greeted by a friendly and efficient person who took our drinks order and showed us to a table. She seemed to be the only person front of house but the service was excellent. The beer was good and the Brixham Bay Burger with fries is to be recommended. My partner also enjoyed her meal, which was a chicken and pasta dish. Very pleasant and filling lunch and reasonably priced. We will be back.

Well, where to start!!!!!!!! We were hoping for a lovely, relaxed evening, while having an evening meal at the Birdcage while we were in Brixham. Unfortunately we were not allowed in the dining area with our little, working cocker spaniel, just to add she is a volunteering therapy dog aswell but we respected the pubs policy as not all people like dogs and others may have allergies around dogs. Image our surprise and disgust, when a family turned up with 3 dogs, yes 3!!! The young lady behind the bar exclaimed, 'I don't know where you're going to go as we have a singer on and you're not allowed in the dining area, they told her that the manager knew they were coming, next thing she's on the phone to the manager and low and behold the manager told the bar staff to give them a table in the dining room!!!! Seems it's not what you know but who you know!!! We drank up and left, we will not be returning!!!

In Brixham for a week and popped into The Birdcage for Sunday roast. Really nice pub with friendly staff and a super beef roast lunch with ‘real’ Yorkshire pud. We will be going again for dinner during our week here. Dog friendly too 🐶

We had a really good dinner here. The new people only took it over in June this year. I had fish and chips which was excellent. The fish was well cooked and the batter was crispy and tasty, together with a big portion of great chips and garden peas, all very good. My husband had steak pie and chips. He said the pie was great and full of tasty steak. This came wit a dish of fresh broccoli and roasted carrots and again a big portion of chips. We followed this with a dish of vanilla ice cream two huge scoops each. A wonderful meal, pleasant service, clean and fresh premises.

Visited the Bird Cage before Covid and decided to give it another go as it appeared under new management. Looking online it was noted to be serving food until 20:00. However, on walking in at 19:50 a blond woman at the door informed us the kitchen was now closed. No sorry or explanation. Very disappointed we went elsewhere, not to return!

We went for Sunday lunch. The roast was very good. Very tasty and plenty of it. Well worth the money. The staff were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I am not easily pleased but I can highly recommend. Definitely will be returning.

We had a great family lunch to celebrate my ma's birthday 🎂🥂 Its the first time we've eaten here and it was certainly not a disappointment! The staff were spot on with their friendly and efficient customer service. My ma's gluten free veg burger and chips hit the spot and the kids loved their meals from the Little Chickens menu. Great name 🐓! Many thanks for making this a birthday to remember. We will be back and would definitely recommend.

The food was really good,I had halloumi fries for starter which was lovely and scampi and chips again very nice.The rest of my family enjoyed their food especially the special,a lamb burger.I have 5 stars as the waitress looking after us was attentive,smiley and efficient.

Visited the Birdcage after they managed to squeeze the 4 of us (and a dog) in at quite late notice. From the minute we walked in the staff very friendly and showed us to our table. Two of us had the burger, one the chicken burger and my daughter had the chicken pasta. My burger was lovely as were the chips and when I managed to try a bit of the chicken pasta I thought it was delicious. We honestly couldn’t fault the place, it was clean, the food and beer was great, the staff were genuinely nice (not just putting on a smile in front of you) and overall the price was very reasonable. Our dog even got a couple of treats. I’m sure we will be back before the weeks out.

Good food and lovely service BUT cheap sauce sachets imply that you are buying cheap food. Also spend a bit more and get proper beer battered while onion rings…no one buys the 1980’s mashed onion rings any more….another sign of cheap food. A couple of improvements and it would have been excellent.

Very friendly and very delicious! Me and my family were on holiday and in need of a pub. Staff were very welcoming and kind. They helped us with everything we needed. It was a very clean pub. The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing, and it was all very cheap!! The 5 of us spent only £85!! Would definitely recommend and go again!!

We had a roast on Sunday and it was top notch. Adam had promised it would be excellent and he certainly lived up to his promise! Everything on the plate was perfect. The staff were polite and attentive and the pub itself was spotless and had a great atmosphere. Thank you for a great dining experience as so often we can be let down. Visiting family & was treated to a meal in The Birdcage. Greeted by friendly staff & food cooked & presented beautifully. The simple cottage pie was taken to a New level. Scrummy. Not one complaint from any family who had other meals from menu.
