Cantina Kitchen and Bar in Torbay

Nice relaxed atmosphere, with good choice of food. A group of 6 of us had a range of choices to eat, with wine and pretty good standard overall. Personally, I found the jerk chicken little more than a chargrilled chicken bread, with no authentic jerk heat, but with the rice etc, it was a nice meal. Just not what I had hoped. The other 5 were happy with there choices though, the salmon getting particular praise.

I was with my Dad and his sister, on a trip down memory lane, and we popped in to have a look at the menu. We're pleased that we did! The food was lovely - freshly cooked using excellent local produce - and really tasty. The choice of tea is Teapig, which creates a lovely strong brew. Even the pink sculpture was pleasing to the eye, but it won't be to everyone's liking! ! 🤣 🤣 😳

Loved the food (see photo). What a perfect place to spend a bit of time inside and out on a Friday afternoon in October (and any other time I imagine). I’ll be back soon.

Been here a few times and brought family and friends too and it doesn’t disappoint and always delivers staff are great and really easy to order at the table. Today the ciabatta steak sandwich was amazing the best I have tasted and the rump steak was perfectly cooked and tender. Well done team Cantina

Clean friendly cafe bar offering range of well priced food. We sat outside for a glass or two. Kids played badminton on the garden. Clean toilets. No charge!! Definitely go back there.

Popped in for a coffee and a few drinks. Lovely atmosphere. Very clean. Welcoming attentive staff. All items delivered to tables. Rugs for dogs and humans. Varied choice to suit everyone. We didn't eat but will next time.

Really disappointed, looked like a nice place. We ordered pizzas and Burgers, pizzas were ok but the Burgers were well overdone and burnt. They should call them Sahara Burgers! We sent 2 burgers back with feedback only to receive the same poor quality food back a 2nd time. Needless to say we sent those back to. They sent the youngest member of staff to apologise and offered no refund. I've been coming to Devon for 10 years and never received this kind of customer service, they just weren't bothered. Avoid, avoid avoid.

Just had a coffee, but the place was lovely. Badminton, corn hole and table tennis to keep kids entertained. Lovely looking cakes and some really interesting Pizza on the menu. Lots of outdoor seating

Honestly its sad to say this. I love supporting local family buisness. But this i truly reccomend to avoid. Iv never before ever, seen a format like it Cue up 15 mins. Order 2 bottles of peroni. 10.60£ for 2 small bottles. You them give a table number, i said " but the peronis are right next to your foot". So so rudley said no just wait like everyone else. I was kind of taken back and said yeh sure no worries. We had 3 kids and waited, i promise. 18 and a half minutes to finally see our extortionate half pint bottles. I was in sheer disbelief 30+ mins for 2 bottles of peroni at almost £6 per bottle. Food was awful to. One couple said to us theyve ruined half of there 2 day break waiting in that place. I felt for them. Seriously dont waste your time youl regret it and so will your pocket. Avoid this place.

Just had a great meal here! Burgers were great and so were the pork belly bits. My youngest daughter had the Prawn Tacos and honestly they looked delicious. Presented very well and all the staff were incredibly welcoming. It's refreshing to visit an establishment in such a prime spot really delivering outstanding service, beer and food 👏

I don’t mind spending money if the food is good. Cantina you used to be the place to go, unfortunately today was so very disappointing. Sourdough not toasted, bacon hard pre cooked for sure and warm, poached eggs not cooked in the middle clear liquid jelly. Food looked good but micro herbs cover up multiple sins… cheaper food supplies? I unfortunately won’t be returning.

I had chili hallouni and it was absolutely divine. Wonderful smashes avo, the egg was poached just as I asked for it. Beautiful food. The staff were all incredibly friendly and kind, with my 3 year old causing havoc, they engaged with him in a kind and patient manner. I go here often and will keep returning!

An absolutely delightful find! The atmosphere is on point, a live music band playing folk music was there while I was eating and it was really nice to hear. Its location is also really nice being almost directly by the sea. The food was brilliant, if a bit expensive 😅 but well worth the price. I would recommend the burgers as they are really nice and made properly. It was very busy when I went on a Sunday, so I would recommend coming when it's a little quieter but the service was still fast and helpful.

Brilliant place! We had breakfast/brunch. Kids plastic plates and cutlery available. And suncream! And games to play. We loved it!

We have eaten here before as a family and this visit did not disappoint. Food quality and standards of service are exceptionally high. I am an ex Food and Hotel/ Restaurant Inspector, and had I been asked to visit this establishment, I would have rated them as one of the best in the Torbay area. Whilst queuing to place our food order , I took the time to observe food handling in the kitchen area. They must have a superb Chef, as the staff were well trained and their uniforms as immaculate as can be in a busy kitchen. Food allergies were taken very seriously and double-checked before payment. We were visited twice during our meal to ensure that everything was to our liking. The in house toilets were very clean which is , in my opinion, the true test for cleanliness in any food outlet. Well done to the Owners, Chef and the fantastic team.

We met there with family today as we were staying locally. Really prompt service and the staff were just so so lovely. Food arrived very quickly, we had ordered a variety to cater for younger to older. It was EXCEPTIONAL 🤩🤩🤩 The pizzas were so fresh, kids and adults delighted. I had 2 smaller plates. The prawn taco and the halloumi/carrot fritters. I’ll be back in a heartbeat (maybe even tomorrow) for those beauties. Honestly, can’t wait to return. The specials board also looked incredible. We went for breakfast a little while ago and I still dream about it.

Had to ask for the table to be cleaned the place looked unkept , Vegetables stringy and uneditable, fish was nice but not worth the cost.

Dog friendly and staff friendly but£26 for 2 of us for lunch and I couldn't eat mine. My friend had burger and chips which was edible but very ordinary.

Really nice relaxed beach bar style restaurant pub. Set in nice little park with boating lake. Food was excellent, served quickly and really good quality. Pork belly bites were amazing.

Cake and hot chocolate, yum. Great location near the beach. Love music had a tendency to be quite loud due to the echo in the building. Had pizza for lunch another time and the base is crispy and thin, so delicious.

My favourite restaurant in Torbay! And it's dog friendly! Amazing food, reasonably priced, great drinks and the live music is spectacular, supporting local artists. The decor will blow you away and of course the service is always with a smile, you can tell the staff are happy to work there. Lovely outside space too with entertainment and ice cream! Good vegetarian options!!

Overall a very nice pub setting close to the beach. Beer garden is sheltered and has a great atmosphere. Service was easy, able to order via a QR code but staff were accommodating at bar. Good overall good, had a steak ciabatta which had great flavour but was slightly chewy. Overall good

We had the hake special, Cantina burger and steak sandwich. Very tasty. Good value. We had reviewed and was worried as there was a few bad reviews but we did not have this experience 😕

We stayed nearby, so convenient to go there with our dog, right in the park, by beach. Staff were Friendly and very approachable, dog towels and water available for your dogs, as well as food choices for your dog. The Food for humans , lots of choices, food was amazing, we loved Cantina breakfast, presentation looked colourful appetising and was cooked to perfection. Another breakfast I loved was the smashed avocado's on toast with salmon, poached eggs or bacon with a Americano coffee sugar free options for syrups. Lunch option , we loved was the Jerk chicken pineapple salad and rice and peas delicious. Cool glass of Sauvingion blanc or Devon Rock lager. We never had room left for dessert, but the cakes homemade looked amazing! Lovely place highly recommended.

I went on holidays and tried it. I ordered a Nduja pizza and a tomato and cheese pizza. We had the equipped sizes but even so, the pizza was spectacular, just like the chef, excellent food.😁

I visited with my partner after she did the Shiver Me Timbers Pirate Race. We ordered at the table by scanning the QR code, and the order arrived shortly after. We could tell the food was freshly made and was hot. However, the burger was a tad dry and not as tasty as I hoped. The service, though, was faultless and the atmosphere bustling. It seems a nice place as the sea is yards away and there is some family entertainment nearby. It's worth a visit if you're in the area.

Had dinner here with my family. Place was in a nice setting but that's as good as it got, staff don't know anything about what's on the menu. Pizza we ordered was completely burnt and when we sent it back the young lad serving us was told that is how it's supposed to be by a so called chef. I Insisted they soted it out the next one came out well undercooked. Rest of the food was passable at best No wonder they make you pay first. Completely taking advantage of Holiday makers and expensive, £16 for a burnt or undercooked pizza. AVOID.

I so wanted to like this place and food but our dinner was so disappointing. This papadum like pizza was small and greasy, missing ingredients and it is £16! This was size of a small pizza everywhere else, please check the size of the knife on the photo for comparison, and really the dough was paper thin like a papadum with a bit of chess and other bits, missing basil (that after questioning we were told they just ran out of it) and covered with mayo from the bottle. And by the way by the "nduja" they mean spicy pork sausage, it is not name for the pizza. I really wanted to support your local business but we waited for food for so long and it was such an expensive disappointment! Won't be returning unless it is for a drink only.

I sat inside and it was full of unbehaved dogs that are barking loudly , awful atmosphere as if I was in Vet or an animal rescue centre . I know they can't control this as I am assuming most of their customers are nearby park dog walkers

I really enjoy visiting Cantina, you can order at the table via QR or at the bar. The toilets are clean and the staff are ever so friendly. They allow dogs and I've had no issues breastfeeding here.

I was surprised and shocked that there was a statue of a naked male displaying full frontal view of the male anatomy very detailed and explicit. Not sure it is really appropriate in a family cafe. Not sure why there is a mirror in the toilets that is only groin high very concerning.

Great seaside bistro bar with lovely food and very dog friendly. Sundays they have live music and also some evenings when open. Opening times vary with the seasons.

I've visited this cafe, restaurant for many years and seen management and staff, decor and menu changes over this time. In its present guise the indoor area is quite relaxed and the outdoor area is similar and really comes into its own I'm the summer when holidaymakers join locals as Customers. I've found the staff friendly and the service efficient, the most recent visit being no exception. However on a recent visit the burglar alarm went off whilst I was sitting outside with others making conversation impossible. I believe the owner came out and observed the errant siren a couple of times but at no point did he or any of the staff attempt to apologise for the ongoing alarm or explain what was happening. Not good . The coffee is fine here and the cakes look good and the food can be interesting and tasty - either the "fast food" or more interesting specials. Like a growing number of places it's payment by "card only" . I find this trend annoying and discriminates against people who do not have a bank card . You also need to give your table number when ordering so if you are on your own you have the problem of "saving" a table whilst you place your order. Ordering by phone may be an option but again there are people who don't possess smart phones. Lastly you need to accept dogs as many customers are accompanied by their pet or pets. Sometimes the dogs aren't obedient or calm! The live music is usually of a good standard.

What a gem! This place does healthy fresh food with a nice atmosphere. Not a lot of comparable places nearby either, so a great find.

Surprisingly good food. Can get very busy. Nevertheless it is extremely popular with visitors and locals alike. Most of the seating is outside, but some of this is under cover. Much frequented by dog walkers. Had excellent roast beef ciabatta.

Sunday roast was nice but gravy was bland. Duck taco was mega expensive for something small and deep fried.

This is a dog friendly restaurant/bar. The food was very good, with an imaginative and varied menu. Service was good and we were not rushed out pressured to eat up quickly. Considering it was of season it was very busy which says everything about this place. I would return in a heartbeat next time I'm in Paignton.

Lunch today at this eclectic restaurant. Taking part in the current Torbay Seafood Festival, an excellent thin base prawn and chilli pizza. Super location. Big garden area for alfresco dining. Doggy friendly. Cheerful shipmates. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Great place for brunch. I had the BLT which was so nice. The other half had goats cheese pizza with blackberries (I know I know!) which was tasty too. Nice place to eat either inside or outside.

Very dog friendly, team are so friendly and recognise you from visit to visit I find the food to be absolutely amazing, absolutely worth the slightly higher price. All locally sourced and sooo tasty. These guys seem like a big family and all enjoy their jobs. Thanks for looking after me for the last 4 days.

I've been here many times before but haven't reviewed until now! Always a pleasant experience whether just popping in for a drink or staying longer for food. Today we ate, sat in the garden area with our dogs. The ordering process is quick and easy, with QR codes on the table if you don't want to order at the till inside. Drinks were brought to our table soon after we ordered, even though it was a busy lunchtime. Our food didn't take too long to come out either, the quality and taste was spot on. Not only is The Cantina very dog friendly, it is also very family friendly too with colouring books and pencils available for children to colour in.

Super chilled out summer afternoon. Food portions were a really good size, priced bang on and service was super quick. Definitely recommend!

Got the gluten free Cauliflower steaks wow what a disappointment it was, still hard not cooked very well not worth the £14 won't lie felt completely ripped off value for money was a complete joke.. you made it sound so good on the menu the way it was written but in truth was horrible to eat and didn't finish it!!! Won't be coming back again sorry

We had a lovely lunch - 4 adults and 3 dogs - on a beautiful sunny September Sunday - We all went for something from the Specials board and were not disappointed!! Beautiful King Prawns, a fancy crab sandwich, a prawn pizza and a juicy steak sandwich!! Very efficient service and despite being really busy it all arrived very promptly - free biscuits for the dogs and towels and rugs available indoors if the weather had been more autumnal - Highly recommended!!

While on a family holiday with our daughter, son in law and grandsons they visited this restaurant, when I arrived on Thursday morning for the rest of the holiday, they all said that I would love the food here. So, on Friday evening we all went for a meal and it was delicious, the portions were very good and beautifully cooked, there is a great atmosphere, while waiting for our food the children played table tennis and badminton all of which is provided free. We will certainly be visiting again when we are on holiday.

Having ready the reviews on catina we thought we’d give it a try for lunch but how disappointed are we, when ordering the bar area didn’t look particularly clean and tidy, the cakes on the bar weren’t covered and were open for anyone to touch with not even a glass front to protect them. We ordered our food and drink, drinks arrived promptly followed by the food with in approximately 6 minutes which we were surprised at, the food was only just warm the chips tasted of cooking oil and the pork belly was still pink inside, we hardly eat any of our food, I had the cantina burger the temp of the food wasn’t correct because the cheese didn’t even melt on it…. Very disappointed …we definitely wouldn’t recommend going here
