The Oldenburg Hotel in Torbay

We went in for a quiet drink, the decor is much better than it used to be. We did intend to stay for a while, but our conversation was repeatedly interrupted by one person who talked continuously. Although the staff tried to calm him, he wouldn’t stop annoying us. We finished our drinks and left. I would have given a better review, however, we had to leave or ‘put up’ with constant drivel. We will try again, and hopefully choose a better night/seat. We did visit again and we have become regulars over the past 3 to 4 years. The person who was annoying us seems to have moved on. It’s a great pub, and we have enjoyed the entertainment, including various themed nights (Christmas, new year Halloween etc). People are generally friendly and the staff are great! Like any good local pub, it’s got a great selection of drinks, at good prices and if you are into sports, you can watch a TV from almost everywhere in the bar! Phoebe the landlady, and the staff have managed to remove the problems and make it a welcoming place to have a drink, chat and evenings of entertainment on Saturday nights. I can’t rate the food, as they don’t really serve any other than snacks such as crisps etc.

Avoid, full of people you wouldn't want as neighbours. As for the landlady, she thinks she's better than everybody else in the world.

Good choice of beers, very reasonably priced (almost Spoons cheap), always busy so good atmosphere. Plenty of big screens for sports, pool table and well sized beer garden. Good local pub, popular for a post work pint.

The bar staff look at you like your from another planet when you order a drink and the juke box is on the WRONG side of the bar

Started going in here in March,really friendly and prices very reasonable. A traditional little boozer. Has become our local. Good guinness and wine, child free, TV and music - not much more you could ask for!

Weird. I love it and despair in equal measure. Proper pub vibes going on, great beer, well kept and great price. So what's not to like? Evening entertainment has gone right downhill. Tinny karaoke and dodgy disco in fill. 2 yrs ago you would struggle to get a seat, Friday, I could have brought the choir. Barstaff are quick and polite, very efficient. I love it, but it needs better entertainment

You can take your own food in and eat it .the staff are very friendly and helpful 🙂 👍

This is a great pub cheap drinks. Has got all the sport on. Has a nice beer garden which has been nicely kept and maintained. The only down side is the rough and ready customers who come in here 😀

Came in for a pint, stayed for 2. Very friendly and welcoming environment. Clean and tidy. Good atmosphere and it was only just midday. Decent crowd and nice outside area.
