We called for coffee first. A decaffeinated latte and an Americano. What superb coffee. Really helpful friendly staff. 3 different choices for my GF companion. Great venue. Chose to return later in the day for Earl Grey Tea & s decaf latte Not disappointed. Sitting outside each time was a relaxed and enjoyable experience. Impressed that they use a separate grinder machine for decaffeinated coffee too.

They refuse cash payments but they're happy to accept cash tips. Well, no thanks. As well as being discriminatory, they're also hypocrites. Plenty of other better venues nearby.

COFFEE....it was ok, a little expensive and nothing jumps out about the coffee... The cakes are Superb! The staff and service is dependent on their mood and whom you speak with, most of the young students working here, are far from providing a good service but a service where they get a fortnightly/monthly wage and knowing its not going to be their career. Included with the service, I noticed, plates and cups all over the place as there was definitely no regular clean or clear up... I know this as i was there for a good couple of hours ! Overall I went to this establishment based on reviews but it looks like its more catered for students. Tourists and business links would be better off with

If Carlsberg did quaint coffee shops, this would be it. I was recently asked what my death-row meal would be, the answer was and shall always be: "the millionaire's shortbread from Society Cafe, Kingsmead square". The coffee is made by some sort of divine intervention and the atmosphere is nothing short of electric. All-in-all, I've booked in a Zoom with my accountant to see if I can start paying rent on a bottom floor table and move in full-time. Exemplary. We used to love going here for the coffee and cakes but today was awful. The service was slow and, when I asked if our two coffees were ready, a very rude young man told me they were on the side waiting for the milk!! It was just a normal Americano with milk - although I noted that the cups were not the larger, recycled cups for drinking outside as I had requested. Anyway, we had to wait a few more minutes - it was obvious the young team on duty were in no hurry. The girl serving looked thoroughly unhappy and just said, when I asked about the cups, your request was not on the order. The coffee was lukewarm but we could see that there would be no point trying to get any improvement. We will not be going back!!

Cafe is in a nice square with seating outside and in. Coffee was great, cakes were lovely. Service was terribly slow. Toilets weren't very clean.

Take away might be ok but the service bringing your drinks to tables is poor ..slow and with a lot of alternatives why bother . Is there anyone organising it?

Great coffee BUT.. They don't cut our favorite dessert, carrot cake, as big as they used to, they serve it in smaller sizes for the last two times. In the past, two people could be fed with one piece, the price is the same but the portion is small, unreasonably... we are sorry for this situation...

Delicious coffee and great vibes indoors and outdoors. They let you taste their daily coffee which is always fun. They have multiple plant-based milks to offer (oat, soy, almond)

I've been coming here for a while as it's a good study space. On my most recent visit I ordered a matcha latte (my normal drink) and the ratio of matcha powder to milk was way off making it taste too earthy. I drank a few sips then went to the bar to ask for some more milk to tone it down (instead of kicking up a fuss and asking them to remake it) and the girl was very hesitant but then topped it up for me letting me know that she'd have to charge me next time. When a drink is incorrectly made I do not expect to have to pay again to have it made well, especially at £4.10! When I went to drink it again, I realised the girl had put cold milk into my hot drink making it lukewarm...how lovely. Get some competent staff who understand customer service please. On another note, the place is in dire need of a refurb and fresh lick of paint.

Toilets are super disgusting guys, smell is nauseous! Hasn’t been cleaned properly in weeks i would say. Too bad because coffee is really good and service is nice

Very nice coffee shop in the heart of the city Outdoor as well as indoor seating, with large parasols, so you can still sit out if it's raining. Great if you like to 'people-watch! Coffee was nice, but I had soya milk in mine, which curdled unusually - although it didn't detract from the taste.

It was lovely sitting in the square drinking tea and coffee with a friend until checking my online banking discover I've been charged 9.60 instead of 6.30 for the privilege. Feel was very rushed at the counter and yes lots of chatting to regulars which prob meant I was wrongly charged. A shame as won't go back

Pleasantly surprised by the delicious cappuccino! The only problem was finding a seat to enjoy it as it was quite busy when we visited.

Coffee was ok, but service and attitude was very average. The cake was perhaps made from ingredients left over from Baklava, and all four of our group (from three different countries) found it totally uneatable.

I needed a coffee but I don’t have any money on my card I offered to pay by cash and the waiter a guy with a moustache and short told me he can accept cash and I wasn’t aloud to have my coffee. Really disappointed and the guy wasn’t polite for hin was just one less costumer. I’m not coming back. Cash money still having the same value as card money.

Great coffee very nice staff. Had a couple espressos the house and the guest, and they were spot on. Usually I get under extracted shots in busy places, but these were nearly perfect extraction in the middle of a busy service, well done to the barista

Really lovely hot chocolate, perfect temperature and taste. The biscoff cookie was delicious too. Both staff were really friendly too, I was served by Dan who chatted away asking me about my day! Going to become my regular coffee shop in bath.

Friendly and kind staff at this cafe! The drinks are great. I had an iced mocha also a hot chocolate on a different occasion and both were yummy. When you can find a table it’s the best to spend an hour sipping coffee and studying or chilling. Also loved the iced lemon cake here.

Food is delicious, but some things are just too sweet for my taste. Banana cake is quite good, though. Plus, it's vegan! Coffee is good. Place can be quite crowded at times, so you might not get seats inside. But there's plenty of space outside; great during the warmer period. Armchairs are super comfy if you can get hold of one. Funny, damp smell downstairs, which ruins the experience for me. But probably nothing they can do about. Toilets are a bit odd and unfortunately people don't leave it as clean as I'd like them. Or perhaps they don't get cleaned very often?

Second time visited here whilst in the area. Not local but if we were would frequent regularly. The coffee I am told was good. I dont drink coffee or tea so the guys were very obliging in allowing me a boiled water. Great customer service, 2 happy customers. No one in when we arrived but packed by the time we left.

My favourite cafe in bath :) high quality hot drinks, with care and attention on every order (both sit in and takeaways). Not one for people in a hurry, instead a place to chill and enjoy your experience. House espresso is amazing and the carrot cake may be the best in Britain

Decent coffee and nice surroundings, but the guy behind the counter was very rude. He chose to chat to his mate for minutes on end rather than take our order. Thankfully once we had our drinks everything was all fine.

The hot chocolate was cold. The Green tea was tasteless and was literal water. The cakes were ok. Overall not the best experience.

Been coming here for years. Lovely in every way. The music isn't too loud either. Since I found out they no longer take cash though I am afraid they have lost a regular customer. Going cashless is making a controversial political statement and that's off-putting for a coffee shop .

The baristas are all super friendly, the cafe is dog-friendly, and the coffee and leaf tea are yummy! They also produce their own little coffee-focused newspaper which is entertaining to read and there is even a crossword at the end.

Terrible coffee. Asked for a latte and cappuccino. The cappuccino was as milky as the latte. No foam on top. Went back and was given such attitude. No apologies. Still waiting to taste the coffee too. Awful service awful coffee. 😖

Great flat whites. So many chains and cafes pay lip service to espresso coffee and produce a weak and poorly made drink. Ours were made with care and were pretty well perfect.

Staff good and food. Glad to see they have put signs on some tables saying lap top free. So nice to get a seat.

Very cyclist friendly and can cater to large groups early on a Sunday morning. A must visit if you are cycling through Bath. Hugely recommend the Almond croissants.
