The best restaurants in Rother South East

First time visit. 4 friends . Waitress lovely. Duck for 4 was only satisfactory. £27 Menu highly overpriced £14 for small bowl of beef fried noodles ! Small side plate size of chow mien £9. 6 x prawn sweet and sour balls £14 with added very small portion of fried rice £6 …. 2 beers . And to top it all £8 for service charge Total cost £97 !!! Outrageous - very disappointing and won’t be returning .. my friend are living in bexhill and will be telling their friends to leave this restaurant alone . It’s a rip- off !

Great pub,great food, nice staff.

Party of 7 including 3 children incredibly welcoming family run pub ! Food absolutely delightful and a vast amount a lot left over for a family who ate and enjoyed a lot! Would highly recommend and have already booked our next visit ! We cancelled another booking to go back to this pub !

The best tofu with rice and the noodles were so good… the prawn crackers - the best! Service was even better! I had the best food here, we came as a family to eat in a few months ago and had such a nice experience.. really looked after - and have just experienced a takeaway. Very good food, lovely service. The food has no flavour what so ever and everything was dry! The main host stephano I think his name is? Was very touchy feely with all the women including his youg female waitress! Was extremely disturbing and off putting. I heard he hires young girls and acts very weird around them. So please don’t ever work there. Disgusting. Update for your reply, you think it’s okay to put your hands/arms around peoples waist etc…you know exactly what I mean. You touch female staff constantly & touch customers!

Wow the quality of the food is amazing ! I had the satay burger and chips. Pizza is like proper Italian style ! Portion sizes very generous! 10/10

I enjoyed the evening with friends and the Battle Bonfire procession outside. Service wasn't great, and the food a little over priced for what you get. My vegetarian pizza was easily nicer than my fellow diners'. They weren't busy inside, so forgetting things we asked for wasn't great.

For a busy road cafe this is number 1.it does not pretend to be any thing else, enjoy your breakfast, I always do.

Having been here before our expectations were very high. However, despite the food being great it wasn't spectacular. My burger was over done and my guest's chicken was also over done.

Shame it's closing for 8 months

This is an update based on a more recent visit. I phoned ahead to save time and asked for longer cooking time until both batter and chips were golden brown since often chippies serve chips when they're still pale and soggy. The result was wonderful crisp and golden food! Our large cod, shared by my old parents, was lemony, indicating freshness. My haddock was more flavoursome, though drier. The curry sauce seemed home made. It wasn't sweet, but was slightly spicy hot. They have free parking in parking bays round the corner opposite the fire station. People drive in from Hastings and Westfield for this chippy.

Great for Live football, very friendly staff. Just wish the pub done something about the Flys in the pub in summer. But still so much better than the missarable landlord and landlady of the Cinque Ports..... good live music too.
