William the Conqueror in Rother

Went as a party of 5 adults and 6 children. Service was great. Adults chose the Greek food which was superb. Children really enjoyed their main meal and pudding.

They were quick, charming and the food was delicious

Good food, good beer fantastic atmosphere, even a sea shanty.

It is looking very tired we didnt eat but the food looked lovely

Great pub in lovelly Rye Harbour. Good selection of beers. The naughty bear was out of date though. Unfortunately kitchen was closed when we arrived around 3pm so didn't get chance tinted food.

Nice garden at front , only had drinks but a nice setting, popular for dog walkers

We were staying in the area for a few days and visited twice. Our first visit Tuesday lunchtime was excellent. The two staff members we dealt with were very pleasant and accommodating and we had a very enjoyable lunch. Different story the following evening. The staff member behind the bar clearly didn't fancy working that night. We had drinks and ordered some food, which was OK but not to the previous standard. We were the only ones in the pub (wet evening) and at 9.30 the staff member, who was sitting elsewhere on her phone, told us they closed at 10. We decided to have another drink at 9.40 and was refused. I always thought it was 10 mins for last orders and as we were the only people (3 of us) its not like there was alot of clearing uo to be done!!! I would think twice before visiting again.

Lovely setting and friendly staff, but I ordered an ale and I received a bitter. I ordered the fish and chips and the oil needed changing, the fish was over cooked and the chips were too dark and it didn’t taste good. I think it has the potential to be a lot better, however it was strange that a pub owner with 4+ pubs has the same old menu in each.. mostly “Greek” themed items on the menu. Be better.

Very welcoming atmosphere, the food is mainly a Greek style, very good service the staff are very friendly. Dog friendly too. The pricing is fairly cheap for the quality of food and the location. They have a great selection of drinks.Definitely going back, what a little gem.

What a lovely place! Made a last minute decision to come here for dinner with my husband and two sons (7 and 3 yr old). So pleased we did - lovely setting and delicious food. Baked feta in filo with honey was so good and the souvlaki and Cypriot sausages were yummy and a generous portion. Kids meals went down well too. Top marks for the staff as well - really friendly service. Would definitely come back if we visit the area again.

Clearly busy and very popular. Good food at a reasonable price. Easy to park as well.

Very disappointed, ordered our food and drinks for my whole family, one of the drinks was a white wine spritz and when she rang up the drinks. £10 for the wine and 90p for the soda she says. I was agast, who charges for a splash of soda? I pointed out that I really only needed a splash of soda I didn't want a whole glass. She said that's not my problem I don't make the rules it's 90p. Now for the sake of less than an inch of soda, and meal that would have come to £70, this woman's complete refusal to be reasonable, over a splash of water, left us feeling that we had no option back to walk out. A spritza is a drink, not two drinks charged separately. I don't reward what is simple greediness. Never heard of a pub charging for soda before but maybe it's a London thing.

Very attentive staff, food quite good. Be aware it's a very Greek Cypriot menu.

What a find! After a stroll around Rye we had a little drive to the harbour end and found this little gem. Fabulous beer and amazing Greek snacks - beautiful homemade pittas and dips. Staff lovely and weather amazing to top things off

Pleasant surprise. Looks small outside but stretches back. Very busy with people dining. Menu looked limited but fair choice. Staff polite and sociable. Definitely will go back again when in area.

Good to be able to sit outside for a dinner drink. Parking leaves a bit to be decided!

Nice quiet spot, good Greek food

More of a 4.5 the food is very good for a shepherd neame, the halloumi and chicken shish are my favourites. Wish the Greek salad was available as a main that you could add halloumi or chicken to,would come all the time (don’t really fancy the roasted veg one). Have come in groups large and small and usually get a table unless it’s high season

We enjoyed a lovely Greek meal al fresco. But why oh why are prawns not deveined before cooking, here in the UK? It took the prawn dish from outstanding to 4 stars, and it really is such an easy thing to clean them before cooking 🤷‍♀️

I expected better the service is poor we had to ask for food 3 times before it came 1 and a half hours later and were speechless when we asked The food is awful it used to be amazing but now its terrible the only good thing was the garlic prawns and even that was bad DO NOT RECOMMEND

Lovely pub close to Rye Town and right on the harbour, great food with friendly service and plenty of space very clean and prompt service, great selection of beverages also being a pub.

So refreshing to see a different pub grub food menu. The food was really tasty, made that much better by sitting outside in the sunshine. My daughter had the children's fish and chips and it was a good portion size and well priced. I had the chicken on flatbread with fries, was lovely and fresh.

Food was nice but more thought needs to be put into the vegetarian options. Great location. Child and dog friendly

Took a chance without booking on a Monday afternoon and had no problems getting a table. The food was delicious and we shared a starter and dessert as the portions are quite generous. The main wasn't as hot as it should have been but it was cooked. Always love it here

Was looking for a place to get some dinner that was dog friendly. We had a lovely dinner, food was yummy, service was friendly, and dogs and children were happy! Will definitely be back. Thank you.

A fun little gastro pub opposite the lifeboat station. Plenty of seating inside and outside. I had the homemade beefburger which was outstanding. Mainly a Greek based menu that all looked very tasty and was said to be by my companions. The staff are fast and efficient and the bar well stocked. Dog friendly pub with an open fire for those winter months.

Nice venue! Been here a couple of times now during the summer and winter and never seems to disappoint. 🍷 Nice seating area out the front to enjoy a beverage! 🍹 Can become busy during the nice weather so be mindful. Also… keep your dogs in a. Leash. Thanks 🚾 customer toilets available

People polite and helpful food excellent.

We had a lovely afternoon meal here. The place has a very good location with not so many competitors around. The place is clean and tidy with tables outside. The staff was very friendly, young ladies with not so much experience but with a big smile on their faces. We were served very quickly, the food got to our table in a few minutes after we ordered. The food was tasty but a bit too pricey for what it offered or the size of the portions. Please don't forget this is a Pub and not a restaurant so make sure when you get there order at the bar and tell them the number of your table. We had a pint of San Miguel , good beer but London prices. Overall it was a good experience, I will definitely visit this place again and I recommend checking it out if you get in the area.

Dog friendly good walk by the sea

Lovely little place, was a shame we couldn't eat there due to a staff absence so had a soft drink and left. Would absolutely go back. The decor was so cool and the staff were friendly. Even the dog loved it and didn't want to leave when we booked somewhere else for dinner.

Sat outside undercover which is just as well..as it chucked it down! Didn't deter from the lovely fish n chips we had! 😁

A lovely pub with good food, friendly service and dog-friendly too! They even do takeaway so I came back the day after, too, and my meal was ready to collect super quickly.

Order fish and chips as had friends round and had boasted on how lovely the food was, but to my disappointment the food was disgusting won't be coming back again and won't recommend.

Had an absolutely wonderful experience at this gem of a restaurant!! The service was friendly and really fast and the food was amazing! I had the fish and chips and it was one of the best I've had! 100% recommend this to anyone in the area and even those willing to travel a bit further afield. I promise it's worth it

What a gem of a find! We came across this pub on our travels to Rye. A Traditional looking pub (dog friendly), with very welcoming and helpful staff…. The menu? Delicious! Spoilt for choice. Can’t wait to come back again in the near future.

I paid,after a wait at the bar of 7 minutes,for 2 cappuccinos and explained we were seated outside,the waitress replied she would bring them to us.Inner environment dark and very old fashioned.After 13 minutes..,no coffee,so I went inside to ask 'why the wait?'...she said she had been busy with the food BUT all beer drinkers outside had their beers,drinks !!!Small cup of a wet,hot drink was bought out eventually..probably will not return although location is great. What a pity.

A lovely little pub located at the end of the harbour road in Rye. With spacious outdoor seating areas, it’s a good one to visit on a warm day. Inside it nice too with a friendly atmosphere. Staff were super friendly and very engaging which is unusual for their age group as they all appeared fairly young. Good was ordered and served in good time. The menu is traditional pub style grub and it arrived hot and tasty. Price wise, reasonable for portion sizes. Nice to hang out at if you’re just going for a drink as well

Lovely bar / restaurant run by a Greek Cypriot lady and her English husband. Having lived in Cyprus for 12 years , finding this place was a little gem for the Greek food . Plenty of other food, if Greek food doesn't hit your pallete.

Out for a run on the motorcycles we came here after hearing good things. Secluded but well worth the trip and it shows by the number of people coming and going. A chilled atmosphere with bikers and families with the added dog walkers everyone was having a good time the food though we didn't have any was flowing nonstop out the doors and looked delicious. The staff are all buzzing about making sure the place is tidy, very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back at some point for lunch i think

Ordered a coffee, it was made but left on bar ,30 mins later i went and asked for my coffee and saw it sat on bar it was then bought to my table. Waiter said it wss same coffee that was sat on bar, i sent it back and asked for replacement which was bought to table with attitude.Left it and left pub.

Honestly the staff are amazing, the food took about 10 minutes to come, I had the Burger and oh my :o the service was impeccable and I was very impressed with the servers, bartenders absolutely friendly and are happy to help whenever they can. Not even 5,* but ,11/10. Keep it up guys :)

Lovely pub in the harbour. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Seems very dog friendly with a complete dog menu. Human menu is Greek/Mediterranean food. Didn’t they the food but will come back sometime as it looked good. Toilets were clean. Staff friendly.

Myself and my partner decided to visit here on the 29th of April at around 6pm. From start to finish service from the bar staff, named Harry and Sophie, was nothing short of perfect. Me and my partner did not come out for a big meal but after our delectably spiced and perfectly cooked ‘conquerors chips’ we couldn’t help but treat ourselves to a dessert. I had the conquerors sundae and was absolutely delighted with it! My compliments to the chef and my thanks to Harry and Sophie for their excellent service.

Excellent lunch after crossing the English Channel on a SUP! They offer a delightful mix of Greek cuisine and simple, yet delicious pub fare. The atmosphere is charming and the food is top-notch. Would definitely recommend

We had a few drinks here on Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the Shanty singing.

Passing through this pretty little place with our family we were very pleasantly served by charming young girls, the dishes are very good and the atmosphere friendly. The burgers and fish and chips are great! Great choice of draft beers too.

Feeling very ill after some poorly cooked food, raw,obviously undefrosted, I only managed a few morsels and I am sick. I had one nice meal 3 years ago and I so would like this pub to be a good place to stop at, on one of my favourite walks in Sussex, but this is the 2nd disappointing meal. At least , if you offer boring food,don't make people ill, and don't charge so much either. I had to send my lunch back to the kitchen, they offered a replacement but I was feeling already ill.

Food is mid, not many places nearby so its better than no food. Wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here. Food is too salty and the salads are cut lazily too, cucumber slices about 2 cm thick. It's just really not that good.

Staff were so kind & friendly, we didn’t make the reservation even thought the restaurant was so full they could accommodate us the seat. Food was quiet, tasty & so fresh. Enjoyed the food & the atmosphere. Very friendly & a happy place.

Very nice Pub, personal and great fish & chips.

We stayed overnight in our camper on the pubs car park and had a lunchtime drink, it was busy and had a relaxed atmosphere. We also had our evening meal at the William the Concqueror, which was fantastic, and the service was excellent. We will be visiting again. Sorry, we had already started eating when we took the pictures.

Really lovely meal and excellent service, the Greek food is great, tasty, authentic and large servings, needed a long walk around the harbour afterwards! We will be back.

This place is a hidden gem. Had lunch today for a pre Christmas meet up with some friends. The menu is mostly Greek based but wow absolutely delicious and very fairly priced. I had a whitebait starter and a chicken souvlaki for main, both decent portions and really tasty. They had a log fire on and we brought our dog. The atmosphere and ambience was lovely. Excellent service as well. Will definitely be returning.

We sat outside on a cold but sunny day so I can't say much about the atmosphere inside but there were lots of people inside and there was a very nice fire. We chose a sharing platter and a couple of extra sides for 7 of us (including one child) and it was a perfect option for lunch for everyone to pick at. Lots of dogs around both inside and out and the beer was well kept too.

We enjoy visiting this pub after a dog walk. It's dog friendly so you can sit inside with your dog but as it was a nice day we chose to sit outside. There's a good choice of food to suit all tastes and some Greek specialities.

Good food and a beautiful location but the food was OK not great and took forever to arrive. OK they were extremely busy but our table was never approached for anything, we had to continually ask for any service, drinks, updates on food etc

Fantastic lunch here today with the family and the dog. Food was lovely empty plates from both kids so you know it must be good! Fab portion sizes. Dog friendly with treats for sale for the doggos. Highly reccomend this little gem! We would love to return the atmosphere was really nice.

Friendly pub with welcoming bar staff. Fog friendly as long as they are kept on leads. Food tasty and prepared quickly, great way to begin or finish a walk. We had two very tasty burgers with chips, a glass of wine and a pint for approx £38.
