Went here at the weekend, it was busy but only had to wait 15min to be seated around brunch o clock which was handy, the staff were friendly. I ordered the Benedict w/bacon which came on one slice of sourdough. Feedback on this would be 8/10, It would’ve been desirable to have two pieces of sourdough so there’s something you can get the sauce up with. Thanks, C 🙌

We used to have great breakfasts in the past at this location but we were both very much disappointed by paying 40 pounds for being served old bread under our choice of breakfast. First it was like it had been toasted several times at an earlier time that day and tasted like old toast and was extremely hard, thin and a very small slice of toast, that was not cuttable or biteable. When I asked to change it, I received then a slice of old, dry untoasted bread in a place that sells fresh bread every day. It felt like the avocado had shrunk a lot and the egg was cold as it came back within minutes. My husband had the same, old, dry bread under his choice of breakfast. The small amount of ginger and turmeric shot, was mixed with too much water too. The prices for eating out in general have been shooting up enormously in England in the last two years, however, sadly to say, the quality and service in some places have been going down. There seem to be a lack of awareness amongst the owners, chefs and services, that some people also have to work a lot to be able to have the luxury, which it is becoming more and more, to eat out and that they don't want to spend their money on badly prepared or bad quality of food for high prices.

This a brunch spot on High Street. Unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. Our lattes were not hot, and our server seemingly forgot to put in our order. After finally asking another server where our food was after 45 minutes we finally got our food. The food was decent, but not exceptional. The eggs on my eggs benedict were not soft, although it did have lots of smoked salmon on it.

Not great experience - I had BREAKFAST PLATE, where had bearly any smashed avocado on toast and 1 tiny egg. Granola was fine. My partner had OMNIA, where sausage and bacon were great. I had smashed avocado on toast in many different places and it was covering bread completly/properly, so I've been dissapointed here with the amount I received. 15£ for what I had does not make me happy. 1 avocado cost 79p at Tesco, so come on. Interior of the place is really nice, but the service - a bit chaos, some customers had to go and order themselves as they have not been served.

Looked like a really lovely place to eat. They were very busy and had a waitlist which is understandable and said they’d call us when a table came free so we sat on their benches outside prepared to wait and told them where we were. We kept an eye on the door so we could see when the waitress came to call us. After 40 minutes we were still waiting so I went back in only to be told they’d apparently tried to call us twice and no one was outside! Absolutely ridiculous as not once had I gone anywhere and was waiting the whole time! The waitress was very rude and dismissive and her only solution was to put us back on the wait list! She was clearly lying about calling our names as when I went back in she said she had to check with a colleague and then returned to say she herself had called us. Surely if that was the case you wouldn’t have to check with your colleague about it! Shame as we were very keen to try this place. Wouldn’t recommend it now as the service and attitude of the waitress was shocking.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious with an English breakfast. Fresh smoothies and tasty coffee are also included. There's a bakery attached where you can get delicious bread as well. It's inexpensive, but the rooms are not very clean. We booked a room on the top floor, which was indeed spacious but it was an attic room. The floor creaked, there wasn't much hot water, and it wasn't very comfortable. However, all the hotel staff were very helpful, which was a lifesaver. The hotel's location is right in the city center, so that's not a problem at all.

This review regards the restaurant/cafe. I have not had the pleasure of utilising their accommodation. Having lived in the area for a few years now, I can easily say Whitehouse is a regular staple not just for the family, but for friends who visit Rye. They have a perfectly sized menu which is executed to perfection every single time. They cater to vegetarian and vegan diets very well, and they make an almost perfect version of an Oregon chai as I've found this side of the ocean. Service is always on point, and the wait is always worth it. If there were anything I would change, I'd remember to bring my glasses, because the fine print on the menu is so tiny! Highly recommend Whitehouse.

Brilliant cafe but .. we stayed here overnight and would have appreciated knowing the room was up two floors of VERY steep stairs. With two artificial knees and a heart condition I struggled. It put the onus on my 63 year old husband to struggle with the luggage. In future we would ask for a different room. It was very clean but a little too minimalist for us. I would have liked more storage than a rail with 6 coat hangers. Some drawers and shelves in the bathroom for toiletries would have been nice. OK for one night but not for longer. Having said this the cafe was excellent. One of the nicest breakfasts we have had and the cakes we took home for the family were much appreciated.

Really delicious food, with good healthy choices and children’s favourites. Rather expensive though. But … a man came in with two dogs which proceeded to bark loudly and jump up on the seats. When asked to quieten them he said they’re dogs and I come in here every day. Perhaps he believes a local regular can do what he likes . We are locals and won’t sadly become regulars. Have eaten here twice now and have been consistently impressed with the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff. The "Omni" had excellent local sausages and bacon, but I would recommend choosing either the scrambled or poached egg options unless you like crispy fried eggs. They are known for their sourdough bread which is by far the best I have had and you can buy it to take away from their bakery counter. We have not yet found anything on the menu we do not like. They are a dog friendly café and obviously love dogs themselves. As the food is so good, they can get very busy. But, if you do not have time to wait for a table, then I can also recommend the cakes and bread to from their bakery counter. Their kitchen does close at 3pm which, despite being clearly advertised, seems to have taken other reviewers by surprise. So aim to get there no later than 2:30pm if you want hot food.

I visited today for some take away items before going into the cinema. I waited a while at the entrance, where there was a post saying “please wait to be seated”. The postman passed me, then another lady passed and picked up a coffee she had already ordered, so I followed her in. To the right is a bakery counter - which was full! - but you know when you’re waiting it feels forever and you’re wondering why no one’s greeting. I took a chocolate muffin, which was absolutely huge, it’s a 2 sitting kind of muffin, and a flat white. £5 something? Really good value I thought. We were visiting for 1 night and the room was very comfortable but the bathroom was dated and small and would have been a challenge for a longer stay. However the breakfast was fantastic both in taste and presentation. You could have your breakfast at...

Popped by here for brunch on our final morning in Rye. Nice atmosphere inside. There was plenty of choice on the menu, we particularly liked the fancy bacon roll and Turkish eggs. We got toast for the table which was extremely overcooked but the rest...

Went in for lunch on spec and didnt regret it. Although the room we were in (with the food counter) lacked atmosphere (probably somewhat due to Covid) and ambience, the food was excellent. Our group between us had the Omni, Avocodo smash, and Fancy bacon...

Lovely country Pub, hard to comment on the atmosphere as it was a cold wet afternoon so pretty quiet but we were looked after. Food was lovely and fresh, will be going back in Spring definitely.

Late lunch, early dinner. Roast was excellent with crispy roast potatoes, large Yorkshires and a delicious selection of veg. Real gravy on the side. Warm Chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and cream was delicious. 🤤 Busy so staff were pushed but they were friendly and helpful. Recommended

My husband and I ate here twice in the space of a few days. Service was friendly and welcoming both times. On the first visit, our nachos and egg on toast were very nice. There’s a large variety of milkshakes to choose from - our White Twix and Bubblegum choices were amazing! Would love to try the iced cinnamon roll flavour. As we’d seen good reviews online, we booked a vegetarian afternoon tea. This consisted of sandwiches, quiche, mini cakes, scones and a surprise mini cheesecake towards the end. All of the sandwiches were served on seeded bread, which was an issue as I don’t eat this. Usually with afternoon tea, sandwiches come on at least two varieties of bread e.g white bread and seeded bread, so there’s something for everyone. I feel that when we booked the afternoon tea, the coffee shop should have informed us they usually make the sandwiches on seeded bread, or asked for our bread preference. With hindsight, I will specify with future afternoon teas which bread I would like to avoid this happening. They did kindly prepare additional sandwiches for me on white bread, at an extra cost. The food all tasted lovely and was very good value for money at £11 per person - we took the cakes away with us as were too full to eat everything we were presented with!
