The breakfast was absolutely delicious with an English breakfast. Fresh smoothies and tasty coffee are also included. There's a bakery attached where you can get delicious bread as well. It's inexpensive, but the rooms are not very clean. We booked a room on the top floor, which was indeed spacious but it was an attic room. The floor creaked, there wasn't much hot water, and it wasn't very comfortable. However, all the hotel staff were very helpful, which was a lifesaver. The hotel's location is right in the city center, so that's not a problem at all.

Went for an early Sunday brunch. Lots of great sounding options on menu. Bacon flatbread was tasty (perfect amount of heat) and coffees and smoothies were well made. Service was friendly. We left with a pastry to keep us going on our walk to Camber - a hefty chocolate hazelnut muffin! Would go back.

This review regards the restaurant/cafe. I have not had the pleasure of utilising their accommodation. Having lived in the area for a few years now, I can easily say Whitehouse is a regular staple not just for the family, but for friends who visit Rye. They have a perfectly sized menu which is executed to perfection every single time. They cater to vegetarian and vegan diets very well, and they make an almost perfect version of an Oregon chai as I've found this side of the ocean. Service is always on point, and the wait is always worth it. If there were anything I would change, I'd remember to bring my glasses, because the fine print on the menu is so tiny! Highly recommend Whitehouse.

We stayed here on our way back to Germany and we’re so glad we did! The room and bathroom were so spacious and well designed. It’s also dog friendly and the breakfast was included - without a doubt the best breakfast we ever had! All in all would definitely recommend stopping in Rye and staying at the Whitehouse. Oh and the service was super friendly as well!

Brilliant cafe but .. we stayed here overnight and would have appreciated knowing the room was up two floors of VERY steep stairs. With two artificial knees and a heart condition I struggled. It put the onus on my 63 year old husband to struggle with the luggage. In future we would ask for a different room. It was very clean but a little too minimalist for us. I would have liked more storage than a rail with 6 coat hangers. Some drawers and shelves in the bathroom for toiletries would have been nice. OK for one night but not for longer. Having said this the cafe was excellent. One of the nicest breakfasts we have had and the cakes we took home for the family were much appreciated.

( move we all thought ) we were just about to spend money on 4 x brunch and 4 x coffee Obviously don’t need the custom that badly Waitresses need better customer service skills Ended up going to The Fig Customer service skills ( second to none there ) Please please update your waitresses re this feedback ( there is a lot of good competition in Rye

Really delicious food, with good healthy choices and children’s favourites. Rather expensive though. But … a man came in with two dogs which proceeded to bark loudly and jump up on the seats. When asked to quieten them he said they’re dogs and I come in here every day. Perhaps he believes a local regular can do what he likes . We are locals and won’t sadly become regulars. There were two nice young members of staff present, but they didn’t respond.

Lovely to have the space to just enjoy without being rushed. So if you have to wait a few minutes for a table, trust me, it is worth the wait! Have eaten here twice now and have been consistently impressed with the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff. The "Omni" had excellent local sausages and bacon, but I would recommend choosing either the scrambled or poached egg options unless you like crispy fried eggs. They are known for their sourdough bread which is by far the best I have had and you can buy it to take away from their bakery counter. We have not yet found anything on the menu we do not like. They are a dog friendly café and obviously love dogs themselves. As the food is so good, they can get very busy. But, if you do not have time to wait for a table, then I can also recommend the cakes and bread to from their bakery counter. Their kitchen does close at 3pm which, despite being clearly advertised, seems to have taken other reviewers by surprise. So aim to get there no later than 2:30pm if you want hot food.

Then for the rest of the week, we popped in every day to pick up a scone or a muffin, which are the best I’ve ever had! The flavour of the scones and the muffins change daily. The Spinach and Cheddar scone was a firm favourite along with the Mango, Pistachio and White Chocolate Muffin.

I visited today for some take away items before going into the cinema. I waited a while at the entrance, where there was a post saying “please wait to be seated”. The postman passed me, then another lady passed and picked up a coffee she had already ordered, so I followed her in. To the right is a bakery counter - which was full! - but you know when you’re waiting it feels forever and you’re wondering why no one’s greeting. I took a chocolate muffin, which was absolutely huge, it’s a 2 sitting kind of muffin, and a flat white. £5 something? Really good value I thought. It was a busy cafe to be fair, and the ladies serving were lovely. The young gentleman who made the coffees was very polite.

I visited Whitehouse with my family last week after visiting in the past and enjoying the food and atmosphere. On this visit the food was still good but the atmosphere was anything but. Obviously in our current global climate we all know of the importance of social distancing in order to keep safe and well. While in Whitehouse I became very much aware of the fact that staff had not been instructed to be conscious of social distancing. Tables were not spaced to allow for this so you could end up sat shoulder to shoulder with a complete stranger and maskless members of staff leaned across customers when clearing tables. I understand that not everyone is able to wear a mask but maybe the members of staff that were wearing their masks should have been the ones coming into such close contact with customers. I can understand that management want to get more customers in so spacing tables so close makes fiscal sense but based on this experience I am not planning on returning to Whitehouse for a long time due to the disregard of the health and safety of customers and staff.

The coffee is the best craft coffee in Rye and maybe the southern coast. The breads are fresh, flavorful, perfect bites of heaven. The decor is perfect for a holiday in a small town but with classy edges. It’s walking distance to everything Rye, and the sweets were just tremendous. As someone from Portland Oregon, believe me- this coffee is LEGIT.

This used to be our go-to lunch spot in Rye and they have fantastic food (recommend the halloumi hash). But since our last visit they have a new policy that dogs have to stay on the floor (previously fine to have him on our lap or on our jacket on the bench). The staff member who told us this was also quite aggressive about it. Apparently the change was made due to complaints in previous reviews. Luckily there are plenty of other more dog-friendly places in town.

We first ate here 10 months ago. The food was good, the service was lacking (and the toilets truly filthy).Fast forward 10 months, we gave it another chance, and to our disappointment we experienced the exact same issues. (Which i note have already been flagged on this forum). The food was good-but the complete lack of customer service was flabbergasting. In the space of one hour I witnessed the young make (short, slender, dark haired)barrista being appallingly rude 4 times. Twice to myself and twice to other customers.I suspect he interprets his behaviour as edgy:clever/trendy. It’s none of those-it’s dam right rude and ultimately, it looses you business! When a customer asks a question: listen-answer with a smile, when you make an error with an order: apologise! DO NOT walk away when your customer is explaining why she ordered as she did! Smile, engage, amend and remember you are there to provide a service! So sadly we will not be back, despite your product being really good.Oh yes - you really need a cleaning rota for your toilets. Yet again, over flowing bins, soiled paper on the floor, excrement smeared toilet pans. Whilst I accept this is not caused by the Whitehouse, it is absolutely their responsibility to ensure standards are maintained.

Came for breakfast - pancakes tasty but very sweet, Eggs Benedict very tasty. But .... very expensive for what it is.

These lovely peeps serve great food and coffee but they also sell fabulous sourdough bread and beautiful baked items in the rear of building. It is the BEST sourdough and I’ve tried loads. The cheese scones are a must and the incy wincy ginger squares which look too small to be worth trying are the most perfect mouthful with an afternoon cuppa. You have become my go to in Rye , thank you

What a lovely place - love the decor & the menu. We had been glamping nearby and stopped here for breakfast, we had been heading for the George but didn't realise it had been closed due to a fire. This worked to our favour. We sat in the wood panelled room at the back, as all seats were taken in the light front rooms. Initially it seemed a little dark, but it was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. We had the Cinnamon French toast - absolutely delicious although I'd have preferred it served with vanilla mascarpone rather than cream cheese - Blueberry Buttermilk pancakes - wow - Fancy Bacon Roll and a Rock Channel Reviver Smoothie that was heavenlyWill definitely visit again

Varied although simple menu, vegan thru to the heart English! Hullumini hash and eggs benedict were perfection (couple of overcrispy bits of sweet potato but was a big dish) and coffee by a kiwi... defo the only place I would have brunch in town

Extremely good breakfast. I had the fancy bacon roll which was amazing. Everything looked super. Very friendly staff, great service, and a lovely open and airy room to eat in. Exceptional.

Een goede plek om te lunchen. De menukaart is niet super uitgebreid maar zeker voor elk wat wils. Het is er ook erg gezellig om te zitten. Bestellen aan de bar. Het personeel was vriendelijk.

Whitehouse looks great from the outside. Not immediately clear that it’s dog-friendly, which is a brilliant bonus - and really nice that you can sit anywhere with your four-legged friend. We ordered a few rounds of the build-your-own-breakfast - which can become pricey. Certainly not the place to come on a budget. But the breakfasts were really nice - also great that they don’t suddenly stop serving it at midday. Staff were friendly. Ordering station looks great with its selection of sandwiches and pastries. Only bit of feedback is that entering the back garden looks a bit scruffy - and same can be said if you look out of the window in the back room. Just spoils what is otherwise an exceptionally nice space. Would visit again

Raffinierte schmackhafte Frühstücksauswahl. Tolles Sauerteigbrot. Leckere hausgemachte Smoothies.

We dropped in to the White House for a quick lunch on a very warm day. The modern treatment of a very old building has resulted in a dining room that is sympathetic, airy and cool. The menu was quirky and different and we opted for an open sandwich with chickpeas and aubergine. Delicious. Unfortunately they were out of sparkling water, but a carrot, orange and ginger drink was very refreshing. The staff were very helpful and lunch was very enjoyable indeed.Well worth a visit,

A limited choice of baked items. All we had were well past prime I.e. dry and hard by mid morning. Yes; a croissant may have been baked that day but sitting in a case in the heat for a few hours does nothing to improve it. Sad choices. Not even a plain scone on offer here. Staff having a great time joking with each other. Honey - I’d like to place an order......over here in front of you. Sorry to distract you from the cute guy making coffee.Ambience felt more like cafeteria than comfort and we asked where the beverage order went to three times. It’s a lot of work for coffee and a bite mid morning. And you have a lot of competition. Even Jempson’s cafe would be a better choice than this place. With scones!

The cakes were great and the coffee was acceptable but not awesome. The only trouble is that at the prices some sort of service should be provided. The cake display is magnificent but once you have ordered it is up to you to get your delicacies to your chosen table.Certainly worth a look for a holiday treat.

I really wanted to love this place. The food at the counter looked great and the menu sounded really appealing. However, the service was really poor, verging on rude, and sadly spoilt the whole experience for me. We were served 2 of the 3 breakfasts that we ordered but the third one didn’t appear. When we chased it up we were told by the waitress that it wasn’t on the order and we were quizzed as to whether we’d really ordered it before she went and got it. I asked at the same time if she could please check why my granola, fruit and yoghurt had the granola missing. She forgot about that and I had to ask again. She finally came back with a replacement (complete with granola) and told me that the chef was certain that I’d already had granola in the first dish he sent out but he’d made it again for me anyway. Faced with that kind of attitude, I really don’t feel the desire to return to this place. I was left feeling like I’d been accused of lying! The breakfast platter I chose was also woefully small for what it cost. I’m not a particularly big eater, but the avocado & tomatoes were on the smallest slice of toast I’ve ever seen and the yoghurt and granola was also really small. On the plus side, the cocoa smoothie was really delicious.

Nice little seating area. Hardly any selection of sandwiches or rolls, salad is £7.00 for a plate ( this was carrot, beans, mint and not a lot else) cakes are expensive for what they are. We asked for a Fanta, don't sell it, we asked for a Diet Coke, don't sell it. I ended up paying £23 for a roll, a plate of salad 2 cakes and 2 drinks, and we didn't even get a service with a smile. Much better places to eat lunch in Rye, will never go here again. Poor service and choice

Stumbled in this place by mistake really but loved the style, friendliness of staff and the artisan breads. I had the halloumi hash and it was just incredible with quite a lot of chilli heat but perfect in every way. Will be back again soon for sure
