Lovely country Pub, hard to comment on the atmosphere as it was a cold wet afternoon so pretty quiet but we were looked after. Food was lovely and fresh, will be going back in Spring definitely.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here. We arrived at out booked time, but our table was still occupied. Seemed a bit odd as other tables were not full , however after a 15 minute wait at the bar, we sat at our table and ordered our food which came promptly and was delicious. Roast beef was really good .

The Plough is like something from a postcard - an undeniably Britsh-country-pub with the beating flames of the fireplace at the heart of the pub. Whilst we know how difficult the hospitality industry is and we cannot deny the taste and condiments used in the halloumi burger. The burger itself was quite small, with a piddly cup of chips on the side, £15 later. It was a little hard to swallow.

Cold, unwelcoming, unhelpful and the crushed new potatoes where full of grease. It's a shame as we are all local but when they turned the fan heater on and turned it towards the 1 person sitting at the bar we realised then we weren't welcome!! Fabulous walk over from the old grove school to have a well deserved pint and portion of chips. Chips were big, fluffy and a good size portion and the beer was fantastic. Small problem when the buggy had a puncture but the lovely pub tram rallied around to find a pump for us. Would very much return and would also like to try a spot of lunch.

Lovely friendly pub which we often stop at on our walks. I was inspired to write a review as we stopped for a half there last weekend and had the Forged Stout which they have on tap. Very disappointed, having previously booked and arriving spot on time our table wasn’t ready, we were not alone, another 3/4 families were also waiting awkwardly in cramped spaces, while the tables were prepared. Once seated we noticed an invasion of flies around us (in the window area) so we asked for a window to be opened. We were told it was because the building is very old and flies manage to enter through any small gaps in the building. Umm! Not good when food is being served. Windows remained closed. Food arrived with further disappointment. Roast beef was like chewing gum, Yorkshire puddings were burnt and rock hard, veg over cooked and gravy too watery. Overall presentation not great. Service was standard. Food was over priced and very disappointing.

We were on a long cross country dog walk and we come upon this pub, so decided a beer and food were in order. Greeted politely by all the staff and with our 2 dogs we found a seat inside. We had garlic bread as a starters which is homemade and some of the best tasting fresh GB with cheese we have had in a long time. We both chose burgers but different ones myself, pork and chorizo my partner the beef burger. Both were plenty portion and fresh burgers not super market, well presented with what I believe were home cooked chips. I’m not a chip person but these were some of the best chips I’ve tasted in a long while. All the food was of top quality and great presentation. If your in this neck of the woods deffo stop in

We were looking for a good place for a Sunday Roast and the reviews led us here. We didn't want the 'amazing value for money' 'more than you could eat' type of pub so the menu and reviews encouraged us to try The Plough. The car park is fairly small but we were early so that was fine. As we'd booked we were shown straight to our table when we arrived. The Sunday menu selection isn't huge but covered everything we were looking for. As soon as we tasted the different main course we'd chosen we knew this was an excellent choice. The portions were a good size and it was all really well cooked and presented. The dessert was equally good and, like the main course, had a great homemade feel to it and tasted delicious. The service throughout was excellent and even before we left we knew we would be looking to come back in the future.

We’ve been coming here for years, but unfortunately the roast now just wasn’t for us, the veg, potatoes, gravy even the apple sauce has been laden with herbs (so your whole dinner tastes exactly the same and is so overwhelming) and the crackling on the pork was so rubbery you couldn’t cut it. What a great find . Received a really warm welcome when we arrived from staff and the locals . Longman real ale was well kept and a good selection of gins (alcoholic and 0% as I found out))). The food was of an excellent standard especially the mussels and bread. A huge bowl of large perfect mussels.. no empty small or closed shells in a large bowl of the best broth we've had. Steak was great . Starters were very good especially the squid .. not rings of squid from bookers but proper tentacles.. lovely if that's your sort of thing. I tip my hat to your chef.. keep hold of him as he is a real asset. Road side pub with lovely views and garden Last mention goes back to the staff again.. really makes a difference when your met with a big smile and a "can do attitude" that is so lacking in so many pubs. Well done 👏 ✔️ 👍

À la Carte Evening. Their first and I’m sure it won’t be the last. Great venue, tasteful decor with warm lighting. Staff a tad nervous but keen and friendly and no doubt will be operating like clockwork before long. Starters were Japanese inspired tuna dish, great textures and tastes. I had the main Tornado Steak, medium rare, great flavour, rich sauce that shone like silk. Perhaps a bit of colour on the plate would have lifted it visually a tad but I’m being super picky!! My friend had the hake and mussels which was superb as was the broth it came in. A side bowl for shells would be good. Dessert was chocolate fondant, cooked to order, warm and chocolate with sharp raspberry coulis and a cool sweet sorbet. Lush! The red tinto was a great wine and they have a great choice of interesting white reds and roses. There was a green tomato Bloody Mary between starter n main. Great but the Tabasco heat I felt wasn’t needed. But hey, great first night for this up and coming venue! Lucky Crowhurst! Look forward to the next event guys, keep it up and big respect to the chef. Loved it.

A nice, cosy pub with a variety of food and drink options and a lovely open beer garden to catch the rays. However, the 7 pints of cruzcampo the group ordered were totally flat. Additionally, we paid £7 for 6 pieces of squid, of which only five arrived at the table, as the waiter dropped one piece on the floor as he walked over and did not even realise or acknowledge it. When eating the squid that did make it safely to the table, the coating was unbearably salty and so overpowering that it made me wish he had dropped all six pieces instead of just the one.

Several of us had crab sandwiches and what a disappointment they were, with so little crab meat it would have been more accurate to described them as salad sandwiches. So we turned up on time with 12 filthy dogs, the weather was good enough to sit outside while we ate and we were able to move the tables to a configuration that took all of us. Both the service and the food were really good, I and a friend had the duck confit which was excellent. We all moved inside to the table that had originally been set aside for us when it got too cold and finished our drinks there with the dogs. My husband and I ate here twice in the space of a few days. Service was friendly and welcoming both times. On the first visit, our nachos and egg on toast were very nice. There’s a large variety of milkshakes to choose from - our White Twix and Bubblegum choices were amazing! Would love to try the iced cinnamon roll flavour. As we’d seen good reviews online, we booked a vegetarian afternoon tea. This consisted of sandwiches, quiche, mini cakes, scones and a surprise mini cheesecake towards the end. All of the sandwiches were served on seeded bread, which was an issue as I don’t eat this. Usually with afternoon tea, sandwiches come on at least two varieties of bread e.g white bread and seeded bread, so there’s something for everyone. I feel that when we booked the afternoon tea, the coffee shop should have informed us they usually make the sandwiches on seeded bread, or asked for our bread preference. With hindsight, I will specify with future afternoon teas which bread I would like to avoid this happening. They did kindly prepare additional sandwiches for me on white bread, at an extra cost. The food all tasted lovely and was very good value for money at £11 per person - we took the cakes away with us as were too full to eat everything we were presented with!
